First of all I start with the positive. The food was lovely that was it. However if you have autism or anxiety don't bother going in here. For me Iike going out to places and keep myself to myself. I will often wear my ear buds or headphones to shut myself off. Interacting with people can be difficult. Obviously I spoke to the lady on the counter who was nice to order food. That bit was fine. I then sat down to keep myself to myself. Fine brought the food put. That was fine. Like I said I then had my headphones on where I prefer not to be interrupted. That's my way of blocking things out. I should be allowed to do that. Not I need to explain this but due to my situation I hate people approaching me when I have something like headphones on. It should a sign or signal to say I don't want to talk at the moment. I hate being caught off guard. So one of the waitresses came over offered to take my plate. I said I'm still using it. I thought I would be left alone after that. Shortly after the "owner" came over and asked the same question. I explained I don't like to be interupted and I was trying to listen to my music. I just thought it would have been obvious I didn't want to talk. I prefer not being bombarded after I have already paid. The "owner" then sacarcastcally apologied "I'm sorry about that love" and said "go somewhere else if you don't like it" which is highly unprofessional. Well he bumped into the wrong person. All I was doing is minding my own business. I have had a lot of things to process and prefer to be quiet at times. As for the "owner" you need to be educated on people with behaviour challenges. Every day its a challenge for someone like me. I then went up to the counter to explain that I'm on the autism spectrum and that I wear headphones to block things out for then for the lady with glasses basically saying first of all its a cafe and a social thing so basically have to interact with people. I then reiterated that I don't have to interact with people and I have my headphones on to basically keep myself to myself. The lady then had the cheeke to turn round and say I didn't have proof like a landyard. Why should advertise who I am. You don't ask that sort of question. Its not my fault people like them aren't educated on hidden disorders. It doesn't surprise me that there is not enough emphasis on this still but it makes me angry! I will not be coming back until it changes hands. Shocking service.

Welcoming with friendly staff I ordered a chicken pie and chips with a cold drink. Took a while to come so I was expecting freshly cooked. A pale pasty looking pie in a foil dish and nice looking chips. Both were luke warm. On opening the pie. 2 measly pieces of meat and quite a lot of something that looked like kidney. On being asked it turned out to be mushrooms which I certainly wouldn’t have chosen. The meat definitely wasn’t chicken either I scraped it to the side of my plate, ate the now cold chips and left. It had been recommended but I don’t think I shall return

A nice busy little cafe. But staff need lessons in volume control!! We couldn’t hear ourselves think let alone talk!! Very loud waitress!! Also if you don’t take cards under ten pounds then advertise properly not on a specials board hanging from the ceiling where nobody can see it.!!

I have spent the last 4 weeks in Paignton Devon and I came across this brilliant cafe in the centre of Paignton,serving great home cooked food,a wide selection of drinks and great cakes all at a good price. The staff are very friendly after taking to Becky she made me feel very welcome everytime I went in. The cafe is very clean,with easy chairs and coffee tables on one side and eating tables on the other side ,there is also tables and chairs outside,it also sells alcohol if you fancy a tipple. I tried to introduce the " pay it on scheme "I do hope it continues now I'm back in Egypt. I will definitely be going back if I am in the area again. Keep up the good work.

Very disappointed to receive two portions of chips at approximately £3.60 a portion. Only to be served them uncooked, I politely spoke to a waitress discreetly to help rectify the problem. We were later served by a mature woman I suspect from the kitchen’ the returned chips . To be told’ the chips had been cooked once already!’. I found that to be poor customer service and rude. Furthermore the chips looked like they had been thrown through a microwave to cook!.,as there was cooked mayonnaise still in the original serving dish!. A shame this spoilt our first visit to the premises.

Came down on a trip with my partner to meet their mum, we was instantly welcomed by a friendly young lad and a lady with long black hair (we forgot to get your names sorry!!) , we found out the cafe was dog friendly too which was great. We tried out a few things on the menu and everything was great. We ended up coming back every day for the remaining 3 days we stayed. Thank you to your wonderful staff for such a lovely time and we will definitely be back when we return in May xxx

We visited this restaurant with a friend for a mid-morning coffee and snack. The coffee was brilliant and a nice big mug. We had a tea cake each with butter and jam. The tea cake was one of the most delicious we’ve had. We were offered extra butter without being asked and the staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Lastly, the plate was big enough to hold the tea cake, butter and jam without having to put half of the bun on the table because the plate was much too small! At last someone has thought about that, well done.

Sharing Meat Platter: fabulous, huge selection; fresh with fruit & salad; brilliant properly hot chips. Great music & atmosphere: perfect for escaping the bustling seafront!

Lovely little family run café/wine bar. Visited on Friday evening with a friend for some informal food and beers. Good selection of beers available, we both agreed the food was very nice. The cakes were definitely a highlight (chocolate orange cake!) Informal, comfortable atmosphere, clean and nicely decorated inside and out. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food (far better than Wetherspoons nasty cheap eats down the road from them) Later on in the evening the music went up a little and the lights went down and came on some "disco" style lights - nice touch I thought! It'd be the ideal place to visit with a group of friends for drinks, nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend anyone to support this establishment and pay them a visit! We will certainly return and continue to support local.

Popped in for coffee today.my husband had a sausage sandwich . It was awful the thick bread was dry as was the cheap awful dry sausage. He couldnt eat it and called the member of staff over . The same sausage was then served on thin bread! Awful and so unprofessional. The owner preceeded to shout the odds about not getting bread from same supplier any more. It takes a lot for my husband to complain about food! But to be intimidated and shouted at was awful. He still couldn't eat it.We. asked to pay and were charged for the sandwich £4.70 no less!!!! I said u surely havnt charged us for the sandwich! To which the member of staff replied. Yes because u sent it back and we changed it!!! I have never heard anything like it!! Not tge way yo run an establishment especially where food is concerned! Im not sure what has happened to this place!!!

Had a birthday lunch for my daughter today. Excellent food and service. Beautifully fresh bread and ingredients. Two of us had doorstop sandwiches and the other a ciabatta served with salad and crisps. So glad you are open again.

I love this coffee shop. My mum first introduced me to it a few months ago and we’ve continued to meet in there regularly for a light meal. I always have the pate each time I visit as it’s my favourite meal on the menu....

The staff are very friendly and always accommodating. If you have a request, you need only ask. Much nicer food than a cafe without being too pricey. Vegetarian and gluten-free options, too! A breath of fresh air for Paignton. I love the comfy chairs and that it's dog friendly. If you're out with your pooch, you have a great place to go for food or drinks.

Dont take any notice of the bad reviews, this coffee shop is the best in town, run by a very friendly family, always made to feel welcome, clean and efficient, staff lovely, you can tell their happy, so must be a great place to work, food is always well presented, and delivered to your table, lovely atmosphere, your never rushed to leave even in busy times, certainly worth the 5 stars.

I regularly visit this absolute gem. The staff can't do enough for you and the coffee is outstanding. They have a lovely selection of sweet things to eat and always chat to my little girl when we order.

ordered two tarta com nata pastries and two lattes,had to move dirty plates and cutlery from the window table onto the adjacent table.Waiting for our order to come,a woman with a dog came in,she sat at the table next to us where the dog sat underneath and started scratching and licking it's "Bits",I said to the woman I didn't think dogs were allowed in cafes as it's not hygenic,she told me to move! When she went to the counter I could hear her complaining about us,then the owner came,put our coffees down and told us she didn't have the pastries we had ordered the ones I had seen on the counter had been sold,she offered us our money back which we accepted,but only £3.95 for the pastries not the £5 for the coffees,we did mention about the dog doing it's aerobics,but she wasn't interested,I told her to put the £5 in a charity box,and that her carpet was full of dog hairs,cafe used to be good but looking a bit distressed now,won't be going back.

Visited here for lunch with a friend. Ordered drinks, vegan burger, vegan spag bol. Drinks and my friends' burger ll served promptly and looked lovely. After 10 mins, she started eating, having waild.

Fabulous place. Warm, comfortable, not noisy and the Cappuccino coffee was hot. Most coffe shops cappuccino is only warm. Will definitely go there again.

Stumbled into this place en route to a Trip Advisor recommenced place. What a pleasure. A very nice atmosphere, doesn’t feel like a chain. Lots of laughter and smiles in the service. An interesting menu that caters to all tastes. I had an outstanding deluxe burger, and she had a very tasty chicken curry. Food very nicely presented and excellent quality and taste.

I continue to visit the Urban Edge 3-4 times a week and am always made to feel very welcome by the owners and staff. This is a big deal for someone who works at home and needs a regular break away from my work space!

Really good service food was spot on. The plenty of choice for us all. The coffee was really good. Would defiantly visit again.

Myself and a friend who is gluten intolerant visited here recently and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were really helpful and friendly, there was a great selection of cakes (which is a real rarity when your gluten intolerant) & drinks. The place was clean & well kept.

I descended on this superb stylish and well run coffee shop when the Steam train we were running had issues in the station and I needed a decent place to look after our customers.

We have been on holiday for almost 3 weeks and have had cappuccino and latte on most mornings. My wife commented that here was the best she had drank whilst away. Mine was also good

I regularly visit this coffee shop. It is well worth a visit, the coffee is first class as is the service. They serve a wide range of snacks as well as cold and hot drinks and also alcohol.

Very pleased to find a coffee shop open until 6pm. We needed a drink and most places has already closed as it was 5:30.

I was expecting to have a really nice cup of coffee but sadly that was not the case. The coffee was distinctly average- and it took 10 minutes to arrive. The sandwich I ordered, I had to chase after 15 minutes and the waitress didn’t even apologise for the delay. The sandwich itself was very nice, but surely you could expect tartare sauce with a fish finger sandwich?

For the price and how friendly and quick the staff where this is best place to eat. I am a local and was gutted I have never eaten here before. Great food great price. And the female chef who brought our food out was the nicest person and took real interest in the customers. 5*

Refusing to serve someone a takeaway cup of tea just because it was for a homeless guy. Absolutely disgusting.

My old rating was 5* as I WAS a weekly regular, even up until sunday, buying both food & drink. However, after what I witnessed today: the owner refusing to serve a PAYING customer who was buying a cup of tea to take away for a homeless man (just because the homeless guy once used his loo without purchasing anything), I will no longer visit this place or support this local business.

Popped in here for a quick coffee with a mate, empty, dirty tables, staff aren't bothered. I do like to support local businesses, but this one I will avoid. Back to Coffee#1 for me...

We have been to Paignton many times but never before had we ventured this far up the town.

We stayed in Torquay with National Holidays and had a lovely visit to Paignton. We went to the Urban Edge for lunch, we had a crab sandwich and chips, sounds so simple but it was delicious, loads of crab piled on an open sandwich with salad and crisps, the place is lovely beautifully decorated, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We loved it here and would recommend it as a lovely place visit.

Paignton town centre is not awash with places to grab a relaxing glass of wine on a wet day, so I was glad to stumble on this place. This is a pleasant location to while away a bit of time. Not too crammed, so you feel as though you can relax a little. I ordered a large Merlot (250ml). This cost just under £5, which is about par for the course these days. No complaints about the wine. Service was friendly and professional. Overall I was glad I stopped by.

Great atmosphere, very nice coffee and staff. They were very friendly and knew their stuff about teas. Brewed some mint tea for me and it tasted great.

Collected our daughter from the steam train and called in for lunch on the off chance. We had salads each - Greek salad, Caesar salad and Goats Cheese. Really tasty and to be recommended.

My husband and I have visited this coffee shop many times and we love the coffee and the food. the staff are all excellent!! we are always delighted to see the young girl who works on coffee. Bit over price .for whats served ..had pate nothing special .tasted like Tescos.. cost nearly a fiver... table wobbly my granddaughter lent on table spiling coffee although 3 staff sitting doin nothing .nxt to me .no offer of help.

Ordered special.from board - brissels pate with toasted bread and red onion maramalade - pate was ok but tasted cheap (suspect supermarket) bread nice again may be wrong but supermarket again red onion marmalade was pleasant

This is a fantastic place to have coffee or tea. I had a latte with a double shot of coffee and it was amazing because it was actually served hot. Normally, lattes are served lukewarm in the UK. I also had a lemon and ginger tea with honey and it was delicious. I can't recommend it highly enough. I had a scone with strawberry jam and Devon cream, which was also extremely tasty. Overall the space is great too with a mix of table styles and soft and hard chairs. I felt perfectly comfortable being there alone and I enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff were friendly without gushing. I sat towards the back of the restaurant because I wanted to work on my laptop, but there are also comfy looking spots by the windows looking onto the high street. No electrical outlet by the tables, so take your laptop already charged up. There is an electrical outlet by the coffee bar which can be used to charge up a phone. I highly recommend this place.

Have been going to Urban Edge since it has opened it has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food that they serve there is all locally sourced and it is fantastic the coffee is delicious too.

We like to come here and have coffee and croissants with butter & jam. The items are always excellent. The seating areas are comfortable and you can watch the world go by from their large windows. The staff are very friendly. It is good to see this independent business in Paignton.

Best coffee in town by far and as a resident I've tried them all. Tea cake was large, locally made and generous portion of butter - easily the best value and tastiest I've had in years. Usually go round the corner but not anymore. Light and airy, staff were excellent also dog friendly. A real gem that I should have gone to months ago. Great to see a family run independent on my high street :-)

Came here for breakfast but had no breakfast options. I settled for a flat white, bacon and sausage sandwich and my partner had a earl grey tea, cheese scone, chutney and cheese. The flat white was ok I've had worse and I've had better. The sandwich on the other hand wasn't great the bacon was barely cooked and the sausage didn't have much flavour at all - a shame as it doesn't take much to get decent products to improve this. The earl grey tea was fine, it came as loose tea which had to be given time to brew. The cheese tea however was bad. The scone was small but tasty, the cheese was very bland but most important the chutney was disgusting it had a snotty look to it and for some reason sultanas were in it. The taste was like dirty happy shopper pickle. At first taste of this chutney I reacted loudly with displeasure to which (I assume a employee but this wasn't very obvious) boldly walked over to us and said "Problem??". Almost to the point where we felt uncomfortable. We won't be returning I hope they take our points on board and please change the chutney.

Just popped into this eatery on a really cold February day. Was pleasantly surprised how cosy it was inside and the quality of the food and how friendly the staff were. The food was Tasty, hot and prepared very well. The presentation was really good. This was a really reasonably priced lunch of very good quality. Would highly recommend a visit if you are in Paignton and hungry.
