My wife and I had a very enjoyable Sunday roast with all the trimmings with a great selection of drinks. Bar was nice and busy with a great atmosphere of music and sports on the tv. Staff were all incredible and very friendly. We then enjoyed drinks in the stunning new wine bar Cuvee upstairs with a fantastic cheese and charcuterie board where Donald suggested us some wine to go with it. I would definitely suggest the Drake and the upstairs area for an all rounded day and night out!

We went on Sunday for a family meal when they only serve the Sunday Roast menu. Mixed responses, some really enjoyed it while others felt it was a bit basic. The main difficulty was the football was on and we were sitting directly next to a massive screen. The volume was really loud and then a group of people came in for drinks and to watch the football. The whole thing made it incredibly hard for us to speak to each other and we had to shout to make ourselves heard. Decided not to stay for desserts due to the pounding headaches. I appreciate it’s a bar and you can’t account for folk coming in for drinks but it would be good to be made aware of the football/massive screens etc because it really ruined what would have been a fine experience otherwise.

The Drake was a fantastic venue for both food and drinks, the food was excellent and a specials menu was available, good choice of beers, spirits and cocktails were available, in the downstairs bar , later the upstairs cocktail bar Rascal opened, a move from the sports bar themed Drake to the upstairs cocktail bar was a wise decision, the extensive cocktail menu was awesome, 52 different cocktails available on the menu but the brilliant and friendly staff couldn’t be more helpful by explaining each cocktail using their very good knowledge of the menu and products. Thanks to Graeme and all the staff for great afternoon/ early evening at the Drake and Rascal. The venue was busy in both bars making a great atmosphere. If you are in the West End area it’s definitely worth a visit.

Really disappointing to see the changes to this pub since the owners changed. It used to be a cosy, nicely decorated pub with a great roast dinner. It’s now been changed to more of a sports bar. The roast dinner was much smaller, of a lower quality and the price significantly higher. I used to bring all visitors here for a traditional, cosy Sunday roast experience but will be looking for a new regular spot.

I came to The Drake for a roast lunch 3 years ago and I had a five star experience. Two American friends are currently visiting so we drove from Largs for lunch yesterday (3/3) as they specifically wanted a roast as it is harder to get in Philadelphia where they live. Some parts were great, some good, and some not so good:- Service - Excellent throughout and provided so much help with my friend who is Gluten-free. They went over and above to accommodate her needs. Atmosphere - Comfortable, warm, friendly and clean Food - Roast beef, delicious but there wasn't enough. Two slices folded over to make look like four slices. Roast potatoes, overcooked and dry. Yorkshire pudding, tiny and awful. Clearly a frozen supermarket pudding. Arrived 5 minutes after the beef. Greens, delicious but also arrived five minutes after the beef. Delivered in two dishes for the three of us. Very odd. We asked for an explanation and got one but it still seemed a bit odd. Gravy, delicious. I wish I’d taken them somewhere else, even nearer home, as a fifty mile round trip really wasn’t worth it. I gave a generous tip which was really for the service, not the food. I hope my comments are taken constructively to help improve the customer experience.

We visited The Drake for their Sunday Roast menu and it did not disappoint! The pub itself has such a great cosy vibe to it which is perfect for escaping Glasgow’s typical conditions, and they had a nice, warm fire aswell which is a nice touch! James, our server who had recently started was very attentive and enthusiastic, which made us feel all the more welcome. The pub is also dog-friendly which is always good news to us and they were even as nice to offer afew treats/chews along with a bowl of water. Will definitely be back! 👍🏻🙂

Stumbled across this bar looking for a Sunday roast and for shelter from a cold Glasgow winters day. You enter down a very unassuming set of stairs into this beautiful basement bar/diner. The welcome is warm as is the crackling wood burner installed in the main room, adding to the very comfortable feel to this bar. The Sunday menu is short yet manages to cover all bases. As does the on-trend wine and drinks list. We opted to begin with a mixed game terrine and a potted salmon rillette. Both were bang on! Both superbly executed and served with appropriate garnishes. This is comfort food executed perfectly. The game terrine served with great toasted sourdough, cornichons, watercress salad and delicious relish/sauce. Salmon rillette served with a delicious little salad dressed with a vinaigrette that cut perfectly through the rich rillette. Both dishes were sublime. We both then opted for the Sunday roast. One roast ham and one roast sirloin. Both with all the trimmings of roasted potatoes, roast carrots, buttered cabbage & green beans, Yorkshire pudding and a wee pot of gravy. Simply just delicious. We opted out of dessert, but it read well. Some of my favourites, profiteroles with vanilla ice cream and sticky toffee pudding, to name two. Service was attentive, without being overbearing, being asked us if we would like a break between starter and main course is a nice touch. Not something I would normally mention, but great music playing, at least for my taste. Love hearing music I’m familiar with a wee bit of Blondie, The Clash and Bombskare to name a few familiar musicians playing in the background. Love it! In a nutshell. Terrific. Highly recommend this bar. We will be back.

Me and my partner went in a couple of weeks ago. We sat down and waited to be seen to. The staff literally looked at us on numerous occasions for about 10 minutes. Instead of coming to see us they were standing at the bar having a chat and not one person came over to serve us. They were literally looking right at me and my partner and I genuinely thought it was a wind up. Me and my partner just got up and left. We had an itison voucher to use which had no booking availability so we just went into what was a completely empty restaurant on the off chance we could use it anyway seeing as it was empty. We never even got that far. We've since discovered that they are no longer accepting itison vouchers. No one consulted us on this and it doesn't seem right that the venue didn't honour their existing vouchers. Definitely a red flag

To expensive. I was in yesterday at 13.30 with wife and baby. This was my 4th and prob last time coming to the drake.. I've previously thought the price was fair. I'm now of the opinion I'd rather spend just a little more £10 per person at a high end restaurant and get high end food. See review below. 2 course and a drink each for £44 per person.. a Sunday roast each. Chicken wings and a dessert. Mocktail - £7.50 is a bit much. I guess when u pay top dollar you expect a top meal and it wasn't... There was postives though. The meat was actually nice and succulent. The cauliflower tasty and cabbage. The big let down the straight out of a freezer potatoes.. why!? They were not nice. The presentation wasn't as good as previous visits. And no broccoli. Chicken wings at £8 to me is a high price for a pub meal. I'd have gave 2 stars for yesterday but because previously I've been happy I upgraded to 3 stars. Service was good and friendly. The place was cold but they did put the fire on so no issue. 10% service charge on top of high prices. This should be a choice.

Was very disappointed with the service tonight, we booked for the sunday roast menu. Waited over 25 mins just for our drinks to come, then well over half an hour after that for our starter to come. Then another 45 minute wait after the starters had been cleared to get the mains. Left without having desserts as we were not going to wait again. 2 and a half hours just for starters and mains is awful. There was obviously some issue from the kitchen as most tables were getting food slow, however the service even for drinks or to keep us updated was very poor. There was a large table next to us, and we heard the staff apologising to them and differed a discount! All we got was “thanks for your patience” which came across patronising. We had to ask one of the bar staff what was happening as we waited for the mains and they said they would check the kitchen. Again no further update after that on when or what was happening. I will say though that the food was actually very nice and no complaints with that at all. Was rather pricey for meat and some veg (£24) The cosy layout of the place is great as well. However doubt we will be back again after such a disappointing experience.

Sunday roast On Sunday the 14th we booked a table at 3.30 for a Sunday roast with the family. I have been wanting to try here for a while as the instagram looks amazing. We also travelled 30 mins to come here. The staff were lovely and very attentive. We had a puppy and they were great with her and also got some scraps for her. We got 2 soups & chicken wings. The soup was lentil, carrot & ginger, the soup was absolutely freezing & far too much ginger, we sent this back and got fresh hot soup. The chicken wings were nice and hot. Our mains took ages to come out and people next to us that came in after us which also had starters got their mains before us. We got 3 beef & 1 chicken. After asking where our food was we were told that they were waiting on the yorkshires. Our food came out, with no yorkshires. The presentation was absolutely horrible, the food was absolutely FREEZING. veg undercooked, the gravy was watery And meat was chewy/ The potatoes were the only hot thing on the plate. The yorkshires came and they were black as they were so burnt, we sent this back and got fresh ones, well the "fresh ones" were absolutely stoned cold. We complained as we we're absolutely disgusted with how bad the food was and the price they were charging for 2 courses would be £26. The staff offered to give us fresh food as we weren't happy and had waited so long, and the yorkshires took a while to come back we were just over the situation and we couldnt see how they could make the food any better. The food they promote on instagram was absolutely NOTHING like it. The staff were great but the food was shocking. For someone coming 30'mins away and wanting to try this place for a while after seeing it ok social media we were very disappointed. We did get the mains taking off the bill, but the over all experience wasn't great. Again the staff were lovely.

Lovely staff and grata atmosphere - romantic and cozy. The food was good but it could use a few improvements here and there. Sadly our last visit. We’ve had a few great roasts over the years, I genuinely don’t understand what’s happened. It was over £70 for 2 roasts, and 2 kids meals, it was absolutely on par with a carvery. The chicken was an odd texture, Yorkshire puddings were burnt, veg was average, roast potatoes were absolutely frozen, and gravy was watery. Everything was luke warm. Bizarrely the roasts were served on side plates. So sad, used to be a great wee place for a Sunday roast.

A cosy bar/restaurant that punches above its weight with interesting meals well made and affordably priced. Drinks choice was decent and service was prompt. Definitely worth a visit

Went for some food on New Year's Day and the service was excellent, I think the kitchen maybe struggled with the amount of tables, unfortunately, but the food itself was very good. I enjoyed the cocktails and I think it's a lovely wee pub. I'd definitely recommend the place.

This could easily have been fine stars. On a day out in Glasgow I wanted just one thing. A Christmas dinner, Turkey, ham, the trimmings. So when the Drake was recommended we planned around going there. It was quite a bit out of our way, but we thought, it's all good. The server, a stout guy with a beanie and no looked like he could be the cover star for, hipsters that all look the same. One of those servers that resent being a server, the customer isn't always right, kinda guys. Ready to prove that he is a human being and requiring the bare minimum of service or demanding to get what you paid for is to be sneerd at. Anyway, if not fit the server this might have been a four. Free things that went a righ. Poorly greeted, told to sit at a dirty table, stood where we could not see him when there was a much more central spot, ignored requests, communicated the wrong order, failed to communicate other requests. I'd also have had three courses and had wanted to order this, but as he rushed off before I could finish I just couldn't be bothered and was already aching to get the hell out of there. Given streak knives, why? My food was swimming in gravy, had no cauliflower, which my friend did have. And for some reason they felt that mashed potatoes is not a roast staple!!!!! Plus you can't order it separately. Suffice to say. I'll no be back there.

Fricking fantastic bartender and solid food menu of classics, each with a satisfying but non-showy twist.

We've started coming here regularly for brunch/lunch and I love it. The staff have a level of panache you don't see much in food service anymore, professional, communicative, sassy and strong. Each server and barperson has their own personality and strengths I love to learn more about every time. For menu item swap outs they're super helpful! The menu is basic but each meal is constructed with consideration to every ingredient. You can't help but share a bite with your friends to experience! We didn't have any cocktails but they also look top tier. Honestly this type of venue doesn't exist much anymore and I feel lucky to have stumbled across it. It's great to see such pride in service and in restaurant offerings.

Best lunch spot in Glasgow, service is always fantastic and the sweet potato and lentil soup is my absolute go to. Such a great spot for quick lunch or late night drink, super relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Favourite spot in west end!

Can be very busy and staff can be very helpful or very rude. Cash skills are a bit of a problem so card is recommended instead of trying to get a trainee to figure out change
