Love this venue! Visited this Saturday for the brunch and was delicious as always (the loaded hash is a must)! tried the bloody mary bar for the first time and had so much fun designing my own drink! such a fun experience and an absolute must for anybody visiting the west end! would just like to thank the amazing staff for being so friendly and accommodating! will be back very soon

Saturday around 6ish Vinicombe street was jumping due to the weather,we were going for a meal at Six by Nico & thought we’d go for a pre dinner drink. We were told to grab a table that wasn’t reserved,we did and it was dirty with spilled drinks,we used napkins to wipe it. I asked hubby for a large red which it wasn’t. We had a bunch of 5 lads,well 1 was older,sat over from us,as my husband went to the bathroom,I noticed he had taken a picture of us and showing his friends,we’re in our 60s. I felt sick,I didn’t tell my husband for obvious reasons,we finished our drink and left. I went out looking forward to a lovely evening but this spoiled it,this wasn’t the venues fault. Personally won’t be returning.

Hillhead Bookclub is a Glasgow gem! Great food, fun cocktails, and a quirky, relaxed vibe. Perfect for casual hangs or a laid-back night out. Staff are lovely and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Highly recommend!

I ordered a cheese toastie and MY GOD ! It was the best bloody cheese toastie I’ve ever eaten. The best part was the gooyyyy cheese ! Thanks staff at HHBC for the exceptional cheese toastie delivery service ;)

Amazing food with a Korean twist. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended. Red cocktail it's a must try, had 2 but could very well have 4 more. Katsu curry yuuuumy.

We have visited the Hillhead Book Club many times before and had mainly drinks and sometimes some sides and we have never ever been disappointed, but, the last time we went we decided to have a meal and it was very very disappointing, we had the cheese toastie which was possibly the most disappointing food we have ever made (for the price we could have made many better at home) and the Bibimbap was almost as disappointing with an egg that was almost raw. I would 10000% recommend this place for drinks but do not go here for food, there are plenty of places around the West End that are better value and quality!!!

Made reservation for dinner. Ordered. Waited 30 min. Watched a group arrive next to us. Waited 30 more min. Watched that group get served.

Visitado el domingo por la tarde para el almuerzo. He estado en el lugar un montón de veces para bebidas, pero la primera vez pidiendo comida. Pedí la hamburguesa vegana y la caja de munchie. Desafortunadamente no era fan de la hamburguesa, ya que estaba seca y no tenía mucho sabor. Era una rodaja de queso brioche bollo de repollo rojo edamame y mayonesa, servida con una porción de piel en papas fritas, por £ 14. No sabía que la hamburguesa venía con papas fritas cuando pedí, ya que no se anuncia en el menú. La caja de munchie tenía un precio de £ 19 y era una caja de pizza que incluía 5 pakora de coliflor, 4 costillas de maíz bbq, 7 caras sonrientes, verduras bebé encurtidas y 3 bolas fritas de queso mac n. Los alimentos de la caja de munchie eran agradables, aunque las verduras encurtidas carecían de sabor a pepinillo. No había salsas o salsas provistas con estos platos, lo que sentí que habría mejorado la comida, pero pedí ketchup. Sentí que la comida era demasiado cara, pero se sirvió rápidamente desde la cocina. El cóctel era genial y nuestro servidor estaba atento. La música fue genial como siempre. El baño necesita un poco de TLC - bombillas necesitan ser reemplazadas, no hay rollos de papel higiénico en algunos de los cubículos, nada para secarse las manos. Basándome en esto, volvería sólo por bebidas.

Had an amazing time. Very cost vibe. Went there with a friend and we both left super happy. Had the drinks and some fries, very sad to not try the other food as we were not that hungry. But we vibed on the drinks and chatted and it was so comfortable. The staff is lovely. Happy faces and smiles. Will definitely come back.

An absolutely adorable spot that has incredible food and a cool vibe. We arrived right when they opened, which is why I suspect it took so long for our food, but it was mostly worth the wait. The staff was also very nice. I hope to return soon

Fun place to grab beers and cocktails. Enjoyed the free ping pong and x2 arcade machines.

Awful experience. We were asked if there were allergies and we informed them of a dairy allergy. Firstly,the server brought the wrong food for two of the party so we all ate at different times. They offered free drinks for the mistake and we were not too bothered as we understand these things sometimes happens. However, we then ordered deserts and the “vegan soft serve” was served as scoops of icecream. My son (dairy allergy) ate a spoonful and said it was “creamy” so I checked with the server that it was definitely dairy free. She adamantly reassured me. My son ate a scoop and I asked him to stop eating it as it was so unlike any vegan icecream he’d ever had. I wanted to check again but the server had left (never to be seen again). I asked a different server to be told that they were checking. 20 minutes later, someone came to take the icecream away and gave us an excuse. I had to go back to the bar for the third time as nobody came back for another 20 minutes and I asked for the duty manager because this mess up was very dangerous - allergies can be life threatening and the establishment needs to sort out their processes. Finally someone (a third server) came to the table and gave us 50% off the bill and apologised. Terrible handling of a terrible situation. Will never go again and certainly don’t recommend that anyone supports an establishment that potentially puts lives at risk by terrible procedures for handling allergies. Luckily my son only experienced sickness/diarrhea and a bad nights sleep rather than an anaphylactic reaction. Not safe. Not OK.

Gloriously atmospheric bar in a converted old cinema. Chilled, relaxed and everything you want for an afternoon/evening out. Cocktails are delicious. Food is wonderful. Highly recommend their munchies plate and their school dinners cake. Thank you Lucy for being such a superb server.

Lovely Mother's Day lunch there today with my family. Food good, service great, music a wee bit loud. Great wheelchair access!

In the past I found the Vegan Menu delicious, particularly the banana blossom Vegan fish and chips. I was very disappointed to find the menu mostly deveganised and my favourite meal no longer available. The atmosphere was very noisy. More like a nightclub than a place to eat it is a shame. Hopefully some of the menu will be reinstated. The vegan aspect is still advertised on the walls of the building but it's just a fraction of the range it once had. Staff were still friendly though. I just read the response below. The new menu is not a patch on the old one. Most importantly the banana blossom is still absent. When it comes back so will I. When people used to visit we would always visit. With the current state of the menu there is no reason for me to return. Which is a shame as it was great.

The setting is super original, very beautiful and spacious, live music, I love it

10 people at the bar: 1 person serving, 2 others at the bar collecting glasses despite their being over 100 at least whilst potential customers just had to wait and some just walked out after waiting 20mins to be served.

This place needs a deep clean. The menus are dirty and stained, the tables are sticky and everything is very tatty. We waited for service upstairs then left when none was forthcoming.

Sophie on the bar served us-she was absolutely lovely Great pint, we will definitely be back! Hillhead Badoingydoing Club is the best

I was in on Friday just there, great place for a first timer, lovely food and reasonably priced drinks. The lady serving me… Lucette or Lucy I think her name was (sorry if wrong lol) was superb, so friendly, down to earth and very funny. Would recommend and will be back this weekend x

Was in last night for some drinks. Had an excellent hostess and server called Sofie. She was so lovely, attentive and superb in ensuring us ladies had the drinks we wanted as soon as possible in such a busy venue.

Had a lovely lunch today and was well looked after by Lucy. She was working so hard and attending to everyone so she had my admiration.

Fab cocktails. Was looking for somewhere chill and discovered this place! Great student vibe, and staff super friendly. Sophie on the floor cleaned up our sticky table without us even having to ask. Superstar! Would definitely recommend. We missed the cocktail deals but they have a few days that have discounts etc. Will be back!

My friend and I visited recently for food and drinks, our waitress Lucy was so friendly and helpful, and the food and cocktails were lovely

Definitely a go-to bar if you're looking for a chilled-out, yet still cool and exciting atmosphere in the West End. The free ping-pong will always win my heart, and they have board games, karaoke nights and cool cocktails to try, too. Staff are lovely, friendly and accommodating. In particular, Sophie answered all the questions I had about drinks and food - making sure I was well taken care of with mine/my family's dietary requirements by being incredibly knowledgeable on the menu items and making recommendations for things to try. I have brought many people to this bar either for a quick drink, a game of ping-pong, the vintage market or a bite to eat and each visit has more than satisfied myself and my guests. The vibe is good, the drinks are cheap enough for students to frequent, they have good non-alcoholic options (0% or mocktails) as well, and they're dog friendly - a huge plus.

We came to Hillhead Bookclub for our anniversary drinks. We were delighted with the quick, friendly and helpful service from the bartender Matty and the fun atmosphere. We will be back for our next anniversary.

Popped in for quick a bite to eat on Monday afternoon and had a lovely time. Service was particularly great - our server Sophie was super friendly and helpful, couldn’t have been nicer.

Estaba completamente desinteresado e inabordable. - mientras estoy aquí voy a añadir que las bebidas ni siquiera estaban llenas hasta la parte superior de la taza, había un buen espacio de media pulgada en la parte superior de cada uno. -No hay papel higiénico en ninguno de los puestos de mujeres o en los gabinetes. Tan increíblemente decepcionante y honestamente una estafa.

Great Place and the live music was also very good

Was working a caricature gig on Monday night at a private party. Staff were great and friendly and managed to sample some of the food from the massive buffet. Great place for an event and would love to go back with the wife for night into town.

Popped in for a beer after dinner in ka poa. It was nice but the karaoke was just starting. A bit loud for me.

Quite disappointed with this place. Food was average for the price, the staff ok but not great, would have been easier to just let people order at the bar. We were overcharged and they've ignored my message to let them know this.

El ambiente era divertido e interesante. Nuestro servidor era divertido, educado y profesional. La comida era comida de pub promedio con algunas sorpresas agradables (sopa de calabaza y nachos de bulgogi eran especialmente buenos. El único problema era que se quedaron sin pescado y varias de las cervezas que pedimos, así que eso fue frustrante.

I was blown away by the service and quality of food and drink here. I’d recommend their “Tropic like it’s hot” margarita, absolutely devine. Shoutout to the staff, especially Fiona, Jess and Marc, for making it all the more special. Keep on keepin’ on y’all

The place is so nice and cosy. The food and drinks are pretty good as well but I haven’t tried that many different things yet. The staff are amazing and really quick. Would recommend for sure!

The manager with the blonde hair made our experience here so nice. She greeted us with a warm welcome when we first arrived and was very attentive. We will definitely be back again thanks to her.

Food was decent. Service was really not good. No one came to take our order/check on us. It was clear staff didn’t want to be there. Waitress never smiled at us and huffed and tutted at us when we asked for service charge to be removed since we never received any service. I work in hospitality and I understand we don’t always want to be at work, but this experience was very negative and unlike one I’ve had before. Very disappointing.

Pub was a bit chilly, food was good but the standout was the beef bulgogi dirty fries.

I’ve been before, on a Saturday afternoon, and that was better than a Monday night. It wasn’t too busy, but it seemed a bit understaffed as the service was a little slow to get going. The food came reasonably quickly after we got to place our order though. The starters were great - vegan corn ribs and Korean Fried Cauliflower (KFC). The vegan burgers were OK, nothing special and far from the best I’ve had. £60 for two courses and two pints of Corona.

Recientemente visité Hillhead Bookclub y me impresionó mucho el ambiente vibrante. La decoración es única, creando un ambiente relajado y acogedor. El personal era increíblemente amable y atento, lo que se suma a la experiencia positiva general. Sin embargo, la comida fue un poco decepcionante. Es un gran lugar para tomar algo y socializar, pero recomendaría comer en otro lugar si estás tras una comida memorable.

Older man scratching his behind in between serving food when he thought nobody was looking! Put us off and we left after one round of drinks. Bar service slow to boot despite being half empty, waitress walked around like a drill sergeant. Better off going across the street!

The bar staff, who had served my friend and I several times during the evening, chose to sit at a table close to ours and speak very loudly about how much she dislikes coming across 'Asian men' on her dating apps, and how she instantly dislikes them. My friend and I obviously felt uncomfortable at this racist comment and it ruined the night, such a shame to hear a worker of this establishment speak such a nasty view, and so loudly within earshot of other patrons.

What a place! We stumbled across this place when another booking fell through, and what a great bit of luck it was! The venue is simply stunning, I can only imagine the atmosphere when it's full, but even for a quiet lunch, it was very special The margarita's were perfect. It was what I had planned our day around as they are my wife's favourite, and these were without a doubt, the best we've ever had! The food was superb, well cooked, flavoursome, well presented and just delicious If you're in Glasgow, I couldn't recommend this place more highly

The atmosphere was very good but unfortunately had a very very rude bartender.

We went here for weekend brunch, since they take reservations. I would not recommend that. The one cocktail we had tasted good, which makes sense as this is more of a cocktail/party type of place. The pictures of brunch here and what they served us were vastly different. Food had pretty obviously been frozen previously and reheated. Service was very kind, the food quality just wasn’t what we expected based on photos and prior reviews. We picked at our food and ended up going to another place.

Fun atmosphere with a nice drink selection that matches the theme and aesthetic. We did not have food but the drinks were made well and the staff, although inexperienced, were very friendly and committed to customer satisfaction.

Lovely venue with nice music and very clean, went in to use my student discount as they do good deals but was told they don’t do the discounts at the weekends which isn’t stated on the website and seems like it’s described to lure students into the bar. Also watched the many inexperienced bartenders attempt to make my drink which was painful to watch.

Advertises student discount but this doesn’t apply on Friday or Saturday nights which is not stated and seems designed to entice students in

Nice atmosphere but I am almost deaf after staying 2 hours here.

Recently visited Scotland and popped into Hillhead Bookclub as I was craving a burger! Brooke was my server. She was extremely helpful in my order, knowledgeable on the area and courteous!! Great music, vibrant atmosphere, cool vibe, large area to sit outside. Everyone was very nice! Highly recommend this place.
