Great place! Lucy served me and was very helpful. 10/10 would recommend.

I was in on Friday just there, great place for a first timer, lovely food and reasonably priced drinks. The lady serving me… Lucette or Lucy I think her name was (sorry if wrong lol) was superb, so friendly, down to earth and very funny. Would recommend and will be back this weekend x

Was in last night for some drinks. Had an excellent hostess and server called Sofie. She was so lovely, attentive and superb in ensuring us ladies had the drinks we wanted as soon as possible in such a busy venue.

Had a lovely lunch today and was well looked after by Lucy. She was working so hard and attending to everyone so she had my admiration.

Fab cocktails. Was looking for somewhere chill and discovered this place! Great student vibe, and staff super friendly. Sophie on the floor cleaned up our sticky table without us even having to ask. Superstar! Would definitely recommend. We missed the cocktail deals but they have a few days that have discounts etc. Will be back!

Definitely a go-to bar if you're looking for a chilled-out, yet still cool and exciting atmosphere in the West End. The free ping-pong will always win my heart, and they have board games, karaoke nights and cool cocktails to try, too. Staff are lovely, friendly and accommodating. In particular, Sophie answered all the questions I had about drinks and food - making sure I was well taken care of with mine/my family's dietary requirements by being incredibly knowledgeable on the menu items and making recommendations for things to try. I have brought many people to this bar either for a quick drink, a game of ping-pong, the vintage market or a bite to eat and each visit has more than satisfied myself and my guests. The vibe is good, the drinks are cheap enough for students to frequent, they have good non-alcoholic options (0% or mocktails) as well, and they're dog friendly - a huge plus.

Popped in for quick a bite to eat on Monday afternoon and had a lovely time. Service was particularly great - our server Sophie was super friendly and helpful, couldn’t have been nicer.

We came to Hillhead Bookclub for our anniversary drinks. We were delighted with the quick, friendly and helpful service from the bartender Matty and the fun atmosphere. We will be back for our next anniversary.

There was next to no customer service, and the food is rock bottom. I am from Glasgow and have visited here for years often eating - will only come for drinks at a push. I have worked in hospitality for years and I am happy to give grace where it is due, this is not the case here. Not enough staff or just wildly disinterested staff so I think it’s cheeky to see a service charge if our order isn’t right, takes ages to come and for our drinks not to be full. -half of our tables order was wrong (cheese toastie and fries), which our waitress didn’t really apologise for (she was mostly on her own) but hadn’t written down the order. The simple food took ages to arrive - and two of us were done our very small “main” portions way before they came. -I have attached a picture of the two strips of chickens and half a small waffle I was given for £11. If you’re small plates say that and charge accordingly but don’t advertise what is essentially a starter as a main. -the Cubano toastie just isn’t really anything resembling a Cubano apart from a few similar ingredients. -I am a student (so spending money on food out means a lot and it’s frustrating when it’s a waste) so had to wait a while for a manager to apply student discount. He was completely disinterested and unapproachable. -whilst I’m here I’ll add the drinks weren’t even full to the top of the cup, there was a good half inch space at the top of each. -No toilet paper in any of the women’s stalls or on the cabinets. So incredibly disappointing and honestly a rip-off.

Great Place and the live music was also very good

Was working a caricature gig on Monday night at a private party. Staff were great and friendly and managed to sample some of the food from the massive buffet. Great place for an event and would love to go back with the wife for night into town.

Popped in for a beer after dinner in ka poa. It was nice but the karaoke was just starting. A bit loud for me.

Quite disappointed with this place. Food was average for the price, the staff ok but not great, would have been easier to just let people order at the bar. We were overcharged and they've ignored my message to let them know this.

El ambiente era divertido e interesante. Nuestro servidor era divertido, educado y profesional. La comida era comida de pub promedio con algunas sorpresas agradables (sopa de calabaza y nachos de bulgogi eran especialmente buenos. El único problema era que se quedaron sin pescado y varias de las cervezas que pedimos, así que eso fue frustrante.

I was blown away by the service and quality of food and drink here. I’d recommend their “Tropic like it’s hot” margarita, absolutely devine. Shoutout to the staff, especially Fiona, Jess and Marc, for making it all the more special. Keep on keepin’ on y’all

The place is so nice and cosy. The food and drinks are pretty good as well but I haven’t tried that many different things yet. The staff are amazing and really quick. Would recommend for sure!

The manager with the blonde hair made our experience here so nice. She greeted us with a warm welcome when we first arrived and was very attentive. We will definitely be back again thanks to her.

Food was decent. Service was really not good. No one came to take our order/check on us. It was clear staff didn’t want to be there. Waitress never smiled at us and huffed and tutted at us when we asked for service charge to be removed since we never received any service. I work in hospitality and I understand we don’t always want to be at work, but this experience was very negative and unlike one I’ve had before. Very disappointing.

Pub was a bit chilly, food was good but the standout was the beef bulgogi dirty fries.

I’ve been before, on a Saturday afternoon, and that was better than a Monday night. It wasn’t too busy, but it seemed a bit understaffed as the service was a little slow to get going. The food came reasonably quickly after we got to place our order though. The starters were great - vegan corn ribs and Korean Fried Cauliflower (KFC). The vegan burgers were OK, nothing special and far from the best I’ve had. £60 for two courses and two pints of Corona.

In the past I found the Vegan Menu delicious, particularly the banana blossom Vegan fish and chips. I was very disappointed to find the menu mostly deveganised and my favourite meal no longer available. The atmosphere was very noisy. More like a nightclub than a place to eat it is a shame. Hopefully some of the menu will be reinstated. The vegan aspect is still advertised on the walls of the building but it's just a fraction of the range it once had. Staff were still friendly though.

Recientemente visité Hillhead Bookclub y me impresionó mucho el ambiente vibrante. La decoración es única, creando un ambiente relajado y acogedor. El personal era increíblemente amable y atento, lo que se suma a la experiencia positiva general. Sin embargo, la comida fue un poco decepcionante. Es un gran lugar para tomar algo y socializar, pero recomendaría comer en otro lugar si estás tras una comida memorable.

Older man scratching his behind in between serving food when he thought nobody was looking! Put us off and we left after one round of drinks. Bar service slow to boot despite being half empty, waitress walked around like a drill sergeant. Better off going across the street!

The bar staff, who had served my friend and I several times during the evening, chose to sit at a table close to ours and speak very loudly about how much she dislikes coming across 'Asian men' on her dating apps, and how she instantly dislikes them. My friend and I obviously felt uncomfortable at this racist comment and it ruined the night, such a shame to hear a worker of this establishment speak such a nasty view, and so loudly within earshot of other patrons.

Fiona and Jess were absolutely top notch. 10/10 service, my spicy marg was delicious

Great bar, great atmosphere. Went in on a Friday night for couple of drinks before eating and sat in one of upstairs booths, intimate and perfect for us. Lovely gaff.

What a place! We stumbled across this place when another booking fell through, and what a great bit of luck it was! The venue is simply stunning, I can only imagine the atmosphere when it's full, but even for a quiet lunch, it was very special The margarita's were perfect. It was what I had planned our day around as they are my wife's favourite, and these were without a doubt, the best we've ever had! The food was superb, well cooked, flavoursome, well presented and just delicious If you're in Glasgow, I couldn't recommend this place more highly

The atmosphere was very good but unfortunately had a very very rude bartender.

We went here for weekend brunch, since they take reservations. I would not recommend that. The one cocktail we had tasted good, which makes sense as this is more of a cocktail/party type of place. The pictures of brunch here and what they served us were vastly different. Food had pretty obviously been frozen previously and reheated. Service was very kind, the food quality just wasn’t what we expected based on photos and prior reviews. We picked at our food and ended up going to another place.

Fun atmosphere with a nice drink selection that matches the theme and aesthetic. We did not have food but the drinks were made well and the staff, although inexperienced, were very friendly and committed to customer satisfaction.

Lovely venue with nice music and very clean, went in to use my student discount as they do good deals but was told they don’t do the discounts at the weekends which isn’t stated on the website and seems like it’s described to lure students into the bar. Also watched the many inexperienced bartenders attempt to make my drink which was painful to watch.

Advertises student discount but this doesn’t apply on Friday or Saturday nights which is not stated and seems designed to entice students in

Recently visited Scotland and popped into Hillhead Bookclub as I was craving a burger! Brooke was my server. She was extremely helpful in my order, knowledgeable on the area and courteous!! Great music, vibrant atmosphere, cool vibe, large area to sit outside. Everyone was very nice! Highly recommend this place.

I had a lovely time at book club with my friends, the food was so yummy and the service was really friendly. Our waitress Brooke was super helpful and friendly, I would recommend the loaded fries!

Nice place for a drink with mates but adding service charge for a pint which costs £6.10 did feel quite cheeky by the bartender as made it near enough £7 a pint considering there is no service when you order from the bar and carry the pint yourself

Was out with my husband for a late afternoon Friday drinks and popped in here for a few drinks haven't been in for a while but still as good as I remembered, really enjoyed the live music always a hit with me.

We ate vegetarian here upon our arrival in Glasgow in this atypically charming restaurant. The continuous service is very practical and the atmosphere of this place is warm. The prices correspond to what is done in Scotland and this remains correct for what is served. Special mention for the veggie version of Fish & Chips. We were able to pay by credit card and the service was fast.

I’m not sure where to begin with this review, as our experience wasnt great from the start. While I understand that staff members may be new and still learning, the way management handled our situation only made things worse. We had reserved a table that included two bottles of prosecco and orange juice. Upon arrival, we had to request the prosecco, and the orange juice was missing. Despite reminding the staff three times, the orange juice was still not brought to the table right away. They also did not bring the fruit platter which was included in our package and when we asked about this, they told us "we don't do the fruit platter anymore", despite this being advertised on the website. This set a disappointing tone for the rest of our visit. When it came time to order food, we were not informed about items that were unavailable that day. As a result, three of us ordered dishes that were no longer on the menu. Additionally, when one guest ordered the classic mac muffin with an extra hash brown, it arrived without the hash brown but with an extra potato scone instead. After sending it back to be corrected, it was returned with the hash brown but the potato scone removed. This issue persisted after multiple attempts to explain our order. For the Highlander mac muffins, we ordered three with extra hash browns, but only two arrived, and neither had the extra hash brown. We politely reminded the staff, only to have one of our meals arrive 30 minutes later, after everyone else had finished eating. This delay was particularly disappointing as it was a birthday celebration. To add to the confusion, an additional mac muffin with an extra hash brown was brought out much later, despite us only requesting the missing hash browns. By then, we had already finished our meal and no longer wanted them. When it came time to settle the bill, the staff informed us that we wouldn’t be charged for the hash browns or the extra meal that no one ate, which was hardly a consolation. They also attempted to add a 10% service charge, despite the subpar service we received. While they did offer us a round of drinks for our next visit, it’s unlikely we’ll be returning after such a disappointing experience. Overall, the service we received was lacking, and the management's response did little to address the numerous issues we encountered during our visit.

Good value for money. The portions are very good and you don't leave hungry. The decor is very nice and the service 👌 We ate there as a family at lunchtime but in the evening the atmosphere must be very lively because the place lends itself to it.

Went for lunch and a few drinks with a couple of friends yesterday, thought the service was outstanding, food came very fast and was delicious. Our server Fiona couldn’t have been more helpful very friendly. Would recommend to all.

Had brunch this morning at Hillhead Book Club. We were the only guests and had to wait half an hour for 2 simple dishes. The waffles and sauce hollandaise seemed ready-made and warmed up in the microwave. The ladies toilets were very filthy from the night before. We thought in advance that this would be a prime location, but no... A bad experience.

Went in ordered drinks and they came put a sign on our table it’s booked. We swapped tables as we planned to eat and again they came put a sign on our table. Then another member of staff came and said you have 15 minutes to finish as the table is booked later. Then 30 seconds later another staff member came and told us to move now, I said your colleague has just came over 30 seconds ago and said we have 15-20 mins left. The woman said okay now go, I said you know you are supposed to be polite we are paying customers? There seems to be confusion between what you are telling us and what your colleague is saying and you are giving us attitude over it.

Two friends and I had an amazing lunch this afternoon. Food was brilliant, drinks were great and our main server Rachel was so lovely as were the other servers who attended our table. Music was great and not too loud (those of a certain age will appreciate this) and there was a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

My family and I just had lunch here. Nice atmosphere with board games and annuals which my daughter loved. Service was initially a bit slow but very friendly staff nonetheless. Main issue was the food. My husband ordered a Reuben toastie. I appreciate it was advertised as a “Breville classic” so maybe I should manage my expectations but at £9 I expected better than this (see picture).

We had the best cocktail making class ever and lovely food with Dulcie 🤩 we made two stunning cocktails Mojito & Daquiri & had so much fun on our friends birthday!!! We will be back, super fun night, definitely book everyone!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 Also catered brilliantly to celiac & vegetarians! 10/10

Came for a cocktail masterclass and it was a great atmosphere and Dulcie was the best bartender we had so much fun , food was fab too 😄
