The Beehive has a friendly atmosphere with great service. The Christmas lunch was really good and the room we had was spacious for the 10 of us. Although there other rooms available for different size parties. Parking could be an issue but bays available on Bath Road for 3 hour slots which was ample. The Beehive did cater for vegan and vegetarians and even asked whether someone wanted dessert without cream just in case. Would go again and would recommend.

After many lunch time meals we have enjoyed we thought we'd try Sunday lunch . The food was fab but the service was not . We had to ask for accompaniments, glasses , cutlery. When the waitress did engage, it was false and uninterested. We were looking to book a Christmas meal but this had made reconsider .

Absolutely delicious Sunday lunch Roast, photos don’t do it justice. Half a roast chicken with the most tasty seasoned veg. Plenty of gravy as well as spare and sauces if you like. Was pleasantly surprised! Staff were nice too. (Veg is under chicken and extra green veg and gravy came on a plate to share)

It's such a shame to write this but I wanted to warn people of the Christmas Day disaster we and many people experienced this year to potentially save other families for next year. We were a party of 9 and there were lots of other large parties there as well, we first spoke with the Beehive back in June / July to book the table. Told them we had X amount of meat eaters, vegetarians and a Vegan coming, no problem at all the restaurant said they can do a vegan pie and the vegan person can choose their own starter & desert, great! We put everyone's pre-orders in back in October and again were told everything was available and what the vegan had chosen for starter & desert was no problem. On the day we were waiting 45mins for our "arrival" drinks and canapés, the drink was Prosecco with no alternative for the 60% non drinkers at the table. We were told there were vegetarian canapés but the waitress couldn't tell us what they were so the mystery food went untouched and there was no vegan option. It was 1hr 30mins until our starters came which were very nice (soup, pate and scallops) and we all devoured every bite! Around 45mins later the manager came to tell us the vegan pie they ordered is not actually vegan, they had only found out after another vegan diner had asked to see the ingredients list and they realised the pie was not vegan, clearly they had not done their own research when ordering the dish. Vegan diner was offered sausages as an alternative but unfortunately these were soy based sausages which she could not eat due to dietary restrictions. We had been there for 2.5hours and there was no communication on when our food would be coming out. We had to find someone to tell them that if the food did not come out soon then we would have to leave to find alternative food as we had a type 1 diabetic in the party who had already injected their insulin when the starters came so they were on a deadline to eat or this person would become seriously ill. When the food did arrive one plate was sent back immediately as everything was cold, another went back as it had the wrong potatoes on (dietary requirement noted in the pre-order email), the other plates people ate what they could stomach but it was not good. The vegetarian option was advertised as a mushroom, spinach & blue cheese wellington but it was an individual pie, the only thing I could taste was pepper and the pastry was unbelievably soggy. The baby leeks on my plate had brown dirt grains still in there from where they had clearly not been stripped / cleaned before cooking. We all left after our mains without our deserts as we had been there for over three hours and we all had other plans to get to and pets we had to get home for. We also had to find an open store to get more food for the diabetic urgently. I noted that other tables were making the same complaints whilst we were there and two tables even left and came back with their dogs. We did ask the table behind us that were there when we arrived, they had just been served their deserts after being there for four hours. This was our first time dining out for Christmas Day and we certainly won't be doing it again, we thought it would be worth the price of 80 pounds per person to have a stress free dinner but it was terrible all round.

Would have been a 0 if i had the chance! Came here for a christmas dinner.Awful service. We were seated at 1:20 and didn’t get our starters until 2:30. We then waited an extra half an hour for our mains. We left before our desserts had arrived because who wants to be waiting 2hr 30 mins for their food. When our mains had arrived, the roast potatoes were rock hard and the vegan main didn’t arrive so had been given sausages instead. My only day off work and i’m spending christmas day waiting hours for the worst roast i’ve ever had? Everyone else was complaining as even tables of 2 had to wait hours to be served. A young couple even walked in for a drink and got denied service as they said you have to eat to be served any drink. But 5 men sat at the bar not eating? When we were leaving we also heard other people saying it was awful and they would never return. Just the worst and definitely not £80 each worth! Will be expecting refund

What a dissapointment this pub was. The website makes it appear like an upmarket gastropub. It is in fact the opposite, just a regular boozer. The food was awful, bland and uninspired. The baguette I had was just soggy bread with virtually no filling, dumped on a plate with a few chips and no garnish at all. Also the bar staff were indifferent, more interested in chatting than serving. Oh yes and they had the cheek to charge a 10% service charge by default, even though there was no service.

In a word the Beehive is - comforting. The holiday decorations are up making for a cosy atmosphere. The pub has been around for a long time and has a quintessential warm ale house feel. We ate and the service and food were both good and matched the price we paid given the current climate. Staff are very cordial, the manager Laura is very helpful. Definitely try the Creamy Garlic & Tarragon Mushrooms on toasted bloomer, and one of their very tasty pies.

Sadly a really poor experience in a coffee shop that has no idea of health and safety let alone customer service. As for a coconut mocha as my wife is intolorent to normal milk, no apology nor awareness this could have been a danger to someone only that's an extra 40p you must pay. The staff making the food wear no protective clothing especially the males with long hair. Not a place I would recommend.

I've been to Simpsons for years and its steadily going down hill. The restaurant still pushes the fact that it won an award in 2016 (8 years ago) but truth be told, the quality is going down and prices going up. For x2 fish, 1x 1/2 chicken and a large chips was over £35. This is a ridiculous price for mediocre flavours. The 1/2 chicken was completely dry, no moisture at all, the meat was actually crumbling between the fingers instead of 'smooshing'. The chips were ok at best but certainly not worth a fiver for. I would have had them if they were free but not if I had to spend my own money on them. Disappointed in the experience - I recently switched to the Chip Shed, better quality, better taste and better value. Sorry Simpsons.

This was a lovely - and expensive - celebration meal out. The food is excellent, and the service is friendly and quick. We both enjoyed what we had, both of which were food we'd eaten for the first time. I had the partridge, though with my first bite, I had three small pieces of shot, which was a little unnerving, but no more after that. My other half has monkfish, which was delicious too.
