The Bridge Cafe in Cheltenham

Shortly to be “isolated” with the closure of House of Fraser. First time visit; last as well! They charge £0.30p more for decaf coffee! A decaf Americano is £3.60! Scandalous.

Not for me ,very pricey and good not good .I would have expected real brown bread and real eggs as my scrambled eggs definitely will not be returning

An interesting and unique location, a tad old fashioned, but with simply exceptional food. Great customer service as well

One of my favourite local places to go. Really delicious food (Bridge Burgers are epic without fail!) and the service could not be better.

There is a nice atmosphere in this cafe. There is a good selection of on the menu and a very spacious sitting plan with varied plants about. The service is quick and the staff are friendly.

Had a full english and americano at 9 am as their first customer of the day loooool Service was quick, space was pretty, and price was ok (around £14 total) There’s outlets and i believe there’s wifi? So good for studying although ive seen it get crowded.

We only went in as I needed a rest. Didn't have any food, just a tea and a coffee . It was all fine.

Enjoyable and £reasonable lunchtime hot snack and coffee/drink in pleasant and interesting location. Good service.

Lemonade was disappointing, chairs worn out little run down, never again, I stroll past this cafe. To get to a store. The staff left a dog standing on the table where people eat. It is disgusting. Dogs walk in crapp on the ground. And they leave them on tables.

What a dreadful day. We left one restaurant in disgust and came here based on previous experience, only to want to walk out of a second restaurant. Inept service, poorly trained staff followed by two of the least inspiring "Eggs Benedict" I've ever had. Metal plate, dry muffin, two tiny eggs awash in hollandaise sauce, no garnish - £12.50! Sadly my choice of restaurants/cafés in Cheltenham has been reduced by two today! I will enjoy seeking new places to visit 🙂

Really amazing! You could not imagine how the quality was great.

This post may present bias as this is our go to cafe in Cheltenham which we have used for many moons. Staff are great, as a drinker of expresso without anything coffee has to be good, theirs is exceptional, on the odd occasion we partake of food, always good consistently, a very nice atmosphere and worth a visit

Stopped off for a sandwich and drink. Staff very pleasant, fast service from order to food, food really nice and really comfortable seating, decor and paintings.

Ordered a panini and a breakfast via just eat. Breakfast was excellent. brie, bacon and cranberry panini was missing bacon entirely and only had a tiny bit of brie. Shame because the food really is good. Would still recommend

Would not recommend. When ordering food, we requested a panini without the cheese (lactose intolerant) to which we were informed the kitchen staff were too busy to make a panini without cheese. There were only two other tables. So we moved on to the lovely little cafe in John Lewis! Don't waste time at this cafe.

I've been going to this cafe for years on a monthly basis. Sadly, things seem to have changed. I have always had the delicious pasta 'Genovese' dish for lunch as it was a tasty vegetarian meal. I was last here 7 weeks ago and had to send the meal back as it appeared to be missing some of the ingredients and they redid it. I thought it was just a glitch in the kitchen. I returned today and what I was presented with was penne, parmesan, 2 cooked small tomatoes and 5 strands of rocket! In the past there were fresh tomatoes as well as the cooked ones and pine nuts (i might have counted 5 today). At £13 this was not value for money and I shall not be returning to this cafe, as standards have obviously dropped.

Great place to eat and fast service ,are good points. On the debit side, to many types of Spaghetti meals and why no Lasagne or Canneloni ? Also could do with some nice home made puddings....Tiramisu or Apple Pie etc ,etc.

An odd place. Nothing in the decor really ties together: the leather sofa-chairs; the pictures of bridges; the odd centre-bar piece with it's plastic flowers, that it is never used. It is also a walk-through from the arcade to the department store. The coffee and pastries are nice enough, a fair price and promptly arriving. They did get my order wrong though but pleasantly rectified. We don't normally have coffee here because it never really feels relaxing, with people pushing past and the low, tired old furniture. It all looks a bit grubby. Probably won't be rushing to return again either.

A very reasonably priced cafe. Have been here lots over the years and the service is excellent and food nice. Lovely spot for breakfast/ lunch or coffee and cake.

Staff are friendly and the place is quite relaxing despite of the location.Their burger is so juicy and delicious.I just hope they offer more cold/iced caffeinated drink e.g. iced mocha,different types of lemonades especially when its summer.

Very friendly staff. We had breakfast which was tasty and we enjoyed sitting by the window watching all of the hustle and bustle in the streets below.

I have come here a few time over the past few months with my partner, every time the food has been spot on, the service friendly and the atmosphere lovely. I would highly recommend.

Absolutely brilliant little cafe...reasonably priced and fresh hot food served quickly...definitely a hidden little gem on the bridge connecting Cavendish House to the Regent Arcade...lovely staff and just a nice cosy atmosphere...definitely recommended

Dirty, noisy place with rude staff...

Very average. Paid extra for a brown soggy side salad and no dressing. To be honest it wasn’t great. Tables and seating areas look tired and could do with a bit of a spring clean.

£1.70 for a 500ml bottle of water. Maybe I've just not bought a drink in a cafe for a while but seems expensive to me.

We stumbled upon the lovely cafe while visiting Cheltenham and were delighted with our find. Plenty to choose from on the menu for a light lunch. The staff were friendly and polite and only too pleased to help. We just had baguettes and bowls of chips with tea and coffee, but our lunch was served very quickly and was completely delicious, cannot say fairer than that. The place was very clean, only slight fault was the seats were a little on the soft and a bit tired, but everything else top marks. Will definitely go back next time we are in Cheltenham. Restored our faith in eating out again!

What a great use of space : a café on the bridge connecting the arcade to Cavendish house. Comfortable, informal setting, captures the warm winter sun. Good selection of light eats. Enjoyed the chicken panini, decent chicken and not heavy on the mozzarella. Perfect. Friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Suits all ages.

Lovely atmosphere and pleasant seating area, only query was why put so much grated parmesan on my salad? Tasty non the less will be back again

Lovely relaxed coffee with nice choice of food items

Normally a lovely place. This time round, the water for the tea tastes awful... Needs filtering. The lasagne was microwaved to being burnt and unable to eat half of it and got our original order incorrect and delivered a baguette with a the wrong filling rather than a jacket potato with coronation chicken (this was awesome)

Coffee was good, but after two reminders still didn't get our food. Left a little disappointed as we've been here a number of times and everything was fine, may rethink in the future.

Our first experience here and won’t be our last. Great little cafe tucked away in the shopping arcade. The child’s spaghetti bolognaise was delicious and a very generous portion! Coffee really good. Fresh Danish pastry. Will definitely visit again

The food is really good and the cakes are lovely, but I had a bit of a weird experience last time I went. We were told that the kitchen closes in 10 minutes and the server had to ask the chef if he would take our order. I understand that it is frustrating when people order when it’s nearly closing time, but if the kitchen closes in 10 minutes, then it closes in 10 minutes. I work in hospitality and we must accept orders until our closing time.

Great food great service staff and clean good value for money

We've been here a few times and the food is always good and quick to arrive. The staff are also very friendly. One small problem I do have though is the Penne Arrabiata I order always comes absolutely drenched in sauce. Its nice but you just can't taste the pasta. There is enough sauce on there for three meals, no problem. Apart from that minor quibble, a really nice friendly place to eat.

See photo, that isn't a large coffee by any stretch if the imagination. Large is the only size in the menu, each coffee costs about £3. They're Medium at most ... and that's a stretch. They fooled me once, they won't fool me again.

Great place to eat for quality food, and they even sell tea pigs as standard, which is always a good sign, the coronation chicken jacket potato was amazing value for money, gigantic portion size, my husband had the chicken burger which was also cooked well and presented well, the staff are very pleasant and the gelato is to die for, all served in this unusual upstairs `bridge`with a view of the road below leading to the theatre and great for people watching. Easy to miss this eatery if you don`t know Cheltenham

Ham, tomato and cheese baguette, baked beans and cheese baked beans both with a lovely side salad. Presented well by efficient staff. Really good value for money.

Was difficult to find a suitable place to eat a late lunch during these challenging times but The Bridge fitted the bill. Wonderful food with pasta dishes which were great portions. The salmon pasta with saffron was haute cuisine! Service was excellent and friendly. Ideal airy setting for social distancing inside. Would love to visit again if back in the area.

Lovely cafe. Excellent gluten free food options, knowledgable staff. A hidden gem. Read a book while you eat a lovely lunch.

It is worth stopping here for a light lunch - food was well cooked and prepared, the service was great and I had the best coffee I've had for a long time which came with a homemade biscuit - a nice touch and very tasty!

There is always a pleasant welcome - good tea/coffee and accompanyments. Lots of fresh flowers and newspapers to enhance the experience.

This cafe was perfect for a pre-theatre coffee and tea cake stop. Staff were attentive and helpful, food was tasty and reasonably priced. A nice relaxed feel to the place too with views of the streets below. Will be back!

The bridge cafe is our first stop on our trips to Cheltenham. The tea is always hot, waitress service is friendly, and the free biscuit is a plus. There is a wonderful view.

Went here at lunchtime. Found out they serve breakfast all day which is always good. Had poached eggs in toast. Husband had steak baguette which he said was amazing

When I go into Cheltenham shopping with the wife i get dropped off their and treat my self to a juicy burger and chips and a americano while she continues shopping always had a tasty burger and staff nice and pleasant

Popped in at the weekend for a late morning bite to eat. As ever - clean relaxed light and airy seating, Varied menu both food and drinks, fab ice cream too. Would well recommend any of their beautifully presented dishes.

I wasn't too keen on the cafe. I ordered a scrambled egg and tomato on toast. When the plate was served the warm toast had a sealed pat of butter that had been placed, melting, on the toast. The scrambled egg was warm, but not hot. Meals are paid for before serving.

This is a good drop in Cafe.. The food is go and the Ice Cream is very good.. The service some times is a bit off.. But on the whole a good trip
