Upper Crust in Reading

But that was all about the experience at Upper Crust. As I was arriving back in a Reading from London, I thought I’d take advantage of the ‘Too Good To Go’ app. I placed an order for a surprise afternoon bag, which cost me £2.99. I’m so glad I only paid £2.99!! I got 2 baguettes and a croissant, we ate the croissant there and the. Between my husband and I, saving the baguettes for dinner later as we were heading out in the evening. I got my baguette out, which would have cost £6.49 in the shop had I chosen it. One giant lettuce leaf, 3 measly bits of chicken, some funny looking coleslaw, and no butter!! I removed the tired lettuce leaf, evened out the coleslaw, and put butter in it. If I had actually paid £6.49 for that baguette, I probably would have driven back into town for a refund!!

Nice staff but unjustifiable food. Really highlights the cost of living crisis. Over priced and dissapointed but more reliable than the trains

Well made breakfast with good options available and service was quick 👏 excellent customer service and very well made coffee and pastry’s

Went to UpperCrust to get coffee and pastry, service was poor, Lady put my drink on other side of counter, then snatched my money. When I asked for extra milk, the look I got was as if I'd asked for gold. I said it again, and asked if she understood what is said. She said yes but I'd had a Late, and didn't need extra milk. I explained that sometimes some places coffee was stronger than others, she said I should have said that in the first place. Both ladies were more interested in being lively to each other, than the customer. Won't go there again. Thought I'd try for a change. Will go to Costa, at least I know I can ask for extra milk without a look of how dare you ask for milk.

Absolute rip off! £7.28 for a cheese and tomato baguette which was a shadow of its former self and a medium latte. The coffee was very nice though

I actually thought this was quite reasonable for a breakfast baguette, fresh and tasty, quick service, all you can ask for food on the go.

I used to love this place nice side baguette with lots of melted cheese Disappointed to say the least today Dry hardly any cheese Coffee was nice but then it’s out machine Boooooo and £8 for a coffee and baguette Be ashamed

Decent enough coffee, but found my baguette to be dry and dissapointing, considering the price you pay. Think I might try somewhere else on the station next time

As this is in the main rail station you would expect the service to be quick... one staff member walked past and ignored me twice.. and the other was behind the counter unpacking a box... i was stood for about 2 mins before she stood up from unpacking and miserably said "what do you want".. no apology, it was like i inturupted her. She was also rude to the sweet old man next to me who asked for his baguette to be cut in two ... huffing at the request. Some serious customer interacrion training is needed

... but shame about the pastries which at the end of the day are rather rubbery. Best in the morning, I guess. But the coffee is fine so a helpful watering hole with seating.

Nice baguette but doesn't justify the high costs. Bread is a bit nicer than competitors admittedly but over £2 for a takeaway croissant?? I'll be going back to boots meal deal

Correct me if im wrong but i do expect my blueberry muffin to contain blueberries. It didn't. It was cleverly disguised as a blueberry muffin by the addition of a blueberry on top, but once opened it was infact a plain cake with little taste. Never again.

For £2.35 I expect a damn fine shot of espresso. This was not that damn fine shot. Adversised as Peruvian and fresh, the coffee was left to go stale in the doser, and served flaming hot. It also tasted thin and oily like it was full of robusta but didn't have the crema one would expect from that. I returned the coffee as it was undrinkable and there was no hope to get it fixed before the train left. I would suggest to avoid this place like the plague if you care about your coffee as clearly the staff are either untrained, couldn't care less or both.

I think the title summarises my view. Hardly value for money. I suspect their response will say it reflects the cost of running an outlet at Reading station but more could be done to cheer up the ingredients or presentation to justify the price.

Just bought a baguette and coffee from here After I pointed out which baguette I wanted I noticed loads of small flys covering the food. I'd already placed my money on the counter and the other assistant was sorting my change. I said that I didn't want the food anymore due to the flys and was told I'd already paid no refund. As I was in a rush for my train I had to pay the £6.50 for my baguette which went in the bin and coffee This is the last time I will use upper crust at any UK train station

Me compré un huevo James martin baguette esta mañana de la estación de tren de Reading. Era absolutamente repugnante, el olor cuando me trajo de la bolsa debería haber sido suficiente, sin embargo, no prueba un bocado el pan estaba duro y toda la cosa sabía a cloro. Mientras espera en la cola que avise a un miembro del personal que había moscas en los cruasanes dijo siempre el tiempo me vuela su no podemos hacer nada. Mi baguette era menos de 5 libras no dinero bien gastado.

Normalmente conseguir algo de upper crust a coger el tren al exeter. Sin embargo, no puede hacerlo de nuevo. El maíz de nuestro pollo y baguette tenían muy poco pollo y cuando recibimos la baguette de queso y tomate en el tren todos los bordes donde es difícil. También conseguir muy caro. No fue una buena experiencia esta vez

Travelling to Manchester. In need of a nice warm crusty roll. And spoilt for choice. Great array of fillings. Good value for money & good service.

I love Upper Crust. A reliable friend on larger railway stations. Something tasty to eat on those long railway journeys. Don't forget to wipe the crumbs off the seat for the next passenger. Cheaper than the buffet car.

For what you get its overpriced and not great value for money. They have changed some of their recipes which aren't great. The bread is heavy.

Compré una baguette de desayuno y me arrepentí profundamente. Upper Crust son obviamente tratando de ahorrar dinero utilizando ingredientes baratos y los pésimos, al cual han de tener muchos sal y grasas para tratar de añadir algún sabor.
