Mcdonald's Restaurant in Reading

Great if you like this type of fast food. I am not a great fan. They do however do what they do quite well.

A standard McDees, as you would expect from a chain that aims for consistency, but in my opinion a slightly more pleasant than usual example of that. Staff were very efficient and better than expected friendly / actually doing they job.

I order click and collect and it took way longer than it should . You need faster service also call out number in order how it say on the screen

Got from here about midnight got a wrap and it was stale. Staff always seem so rushy and short tempered. Security are nice and friendly and respectful so hats off to them. Monopoly can be fun to play and good prizes! iPads work which is rare for McDonald’s. Machines have often been out of receipts which is awkward as I always forget my number! Can be queue for toilet when it gets later so would be nice for more toilets downstairs as upstairs is always closed off later at night which also means less tables and space to sit. Overall will come back here if starving but don’t really like McDonald’s much and this one is average.

What is going on with this place? Why are they so tight with their portions? Everytime I go in there, it is the same conversation…fill up the chips!!!! Furthermore, tonight I asked them for some salt and they tightly handed over 1 sachet! Finally, my burger is bloody burnt too!!!! I am so annoyed!!!!!!!

I am writing to express my serious concern and dissatisfaction regarding an incident that occurred on 21st Sept 2:30ish at your establishment. The behavior of one of your security personnel, specifically a short, black, female security guard, was entirely inappropriate and unacceptable. My friend and I were waiting for our third friends order as she was in the bathroom. We were not being disruptive in any way or causing any issues. Despite this, the security guard approached us, called me a liar, and tried to grab my arm in an attempt to drag/push me out of the area for no apparent reason. As I was trying to explain to the security guard that we were simply waiting, a man who appeared to be under the influence of drugs aggressively approached me, got in my face, and even touched my shoulder. The situation was escalating, and yet the security guard continued to focus on me rather than addressing the man’s inappropriate behavior. This is unacceptable, and the staff did little to intervene and resolve the situation. They just gave my third friend her food and told us to leave when we weren't in the wrong in any way. I find this treatment appalling and unjustified. Being treated in such a manner by a member of your security team, especially when no wrongdoing was committed, has left me shaken and deeply disappointed. I hope you will address this issue seriously and ensure that your staff undergoes appropriate training to handle situations with more professionalism and respect in the future. I would appreciate a prompt response and assurance that this matter will be investigated thoroughly.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy states that there is a theory, that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened. The same can be said of McDonald's food. I like the taste. But the food is mostly cold and really, don't go there when it's busy. Disappointing. They forgot stuff and my coffee was a tea. 😕🍔☕

Was kicked out whilst waiting for a friend to get their food

Mouldy ketchup and bbq sauce - I alerted the staff but they were insistent that bbq sauce ‘just looks like that’ - I’ve never seen blue/ white/ green bbq sauce

Same old Mc’D’s… what made this one more irritable was the squeaky from door that continually opened and closed. Quick service (<5 min wait) and a cleaning lady at hand to keep the place clean.

Terrible quality food for the new prices. Atmosphere is like of a prison canteen with wall high self serve machines and a dull feeling. Mcd has lost their way. Spend a little more and go to a proper restaurant.

Can't fault it, eat once a while but regularly. Always fresh.

I spent some time here in the late 90's, eveb did a few shigt. I have to say that although changed decor the food is still great. One of my favorite mcdonalds. For sone reason the burgers look bigger and fries crispier. Other mcds shoukd take note

Quick, reasonably priced food. I'm not a fan of the new self service tills, it's very reminiscent of trips to Argos "Collection point B" . Big fan of the Big Tasty with bacon

Good breakfast, served quickly, staff polite and helpful. The branch is comfortable enough but the music was loud and absolutely effing awful. Unnecessary that time of the morning. I suppose they want fast turnaround...

Today my McDonald’s app was acting up. The manager super kindly sorted everything out and gave us excellent customer service. Well are grateful!

This is a very bad McDonalds. Firstly, the closing time is 2:45am, but they stop letting customers in at 2am and tell the security to not let people in. The reason for closing at 2:45 is that they have 15 minutes to clean up before their shift ends, but instead, they stop letting customers in from 2, which isn't fair. I had a particular incident with this on 20/4/2024. Despite the store not being closed, I wasn't allowed in. The closing time and end of shift time give them enough time to tidy up and close up. The staff are very rude and play favouritism for certain rules. I was told I wasn't allowed to eat upstairs because it was 'closed', but yet there were people up there, and she let other people go upstairs after telling me no. There's no staff to serve customers, and everything is self-service. They'll look at you like an alien for wanting to order at the counter. The food quality is horrible, especially for how long they have you waiting. I understand that because it's the closest McDonalds to the station, it'll be busy, but that's no reason to take 45 minutes to serve a mcflurry and cold uncooked nuggets. The food is either uncooked or double fried. The iced drinks are never filled properly. They also get orders wrong 99% of the time even without special requirement. For example, one time, I ordered 9 nuggets and only got 6. Their burgers are so dry that it's a choking hazard. They don't put any sauce on the burgers. The only good thing is they always have a working ice cream machine.

We loved mcdonald's, but most the time upstairs it's close ,we can see in afternoon family's the looking for a table downstairs and is full and upstairs is always close. Unbelievable who they preferred losing customers

The classical music is a nice touch in the evenings. However, I have frequented this McDonald’s on multiple occasions- only to have my order completely wrong! It’s like they don’t understand how to read an order for a burger- quite shambolic really.

Dreadful, the food here is served barely warm; cold onions (this is a policy, confirmed by staff), tepid meat. Given the high price, this is very poor value. Fries were hot though. The management have lost control of this branch. The staff can't hope to make up for an inadequate product. No reason to return to this rundown branch.

Closed early on 02/03/24 just before 1 am. Website and door says open to 2:45 am. No explanation as to why closing early. No notice, doorman just said we are closed. Staff members standing near the front door when closed just staring back at people. Very disgraceful and rude doorman and staff.

Ordered a mcspicy with the franks hot sauce to try, specified no cheese on the machine, got the burger sticker even said no cheese, so I thought it would be good. Turns out covered in cheese. Is it that hard to follow basic instructions in this 'restaurant'. Very disappointed.

The area can be a bit rough as it's sort of centre of the town. It is mainly busy with secondary school kids, which can be rude and unpolite in many aspects. I would personally avoid this restaurants if wanting to eat with your kids.

Very lovely place and good coffee.

We had the help of a wonderful member of staff. She couldn't have been more kind and friendly to two grandparents taking their grandson out for the day. Of course, our grandson enjoyed his Happy meal and toy!

Don't usually review McDonalds but the food quality was very good in this one.

After a long time having had a refurbishment finally back open! A dedicated delivery driver counter helps but does not have the promised 'separate entrance' - drivers use the same store entrance but a tiny collection desk area! Slightly better layout with more seating but seems a bit more cramped. Nice high tables for two people to eat at with space underneath to store bags whilst eating. Higher tables do not appear to have phone charging provision. Lower level tables have plugs underneath them for phone chargers etc.

the deco and refubs is nice, but if you're disabled like me, there is no room to get a wheelchair around to sit down.so I had to move a child off the children table with the tablets so we could eat,

Securrity staff in Mcdonalds Reading was rude

We popped in for 4 milkshakes. The shakes themselves were spot on. However that was the only good thing. When the orders go in, the screen shows them as preparing. When they are done, they move to the green please collect side of the screen. Pretty straightforward you would think. NO! ........ The orders go over the collection part almost instantaneously...... Then, with about 10 items showing for collection....... Nothing! We all wait to collect our orders with nothing to collect. This is another example of technology implemented to speed things up, that actually slowing things down. Not only that, but they put our milk shakes on the counter and proceeded to leave them just out of sight. They then forgot the milkshakes were there, and started to hand food to other customers. I ended up having to point them out so I could retrieve them. Crazy.... I had to use the self service screen to order. Then show them my order so I could actually collect it. Next time, will they ask me to cook it? It was not the staff's fault. They were perfectly good. It is the system that does not work. Sort it out MC'Ds.

I just bought 4 wraps around 17.17 and when i got home found they had only packed 3. I expected integrity with the staff thats why i did not bother to count them but too bad. Tried to call but no answer😡😡😡

Nice McDonalds in Reading Town centre. The restaurant looked clean even though they were very busy when I visited. Took a while to get my order but, as previously said, it was busy. The food was nice and definitely freshly made, however I would have preferred the burger to be hotter (personal preference). It would be an idea to order on the app for collection if you're in a hurry .. I will be visiting again.

Since the refit, the place has gone from a restaurant that caters for everyone, to something that has attracted the chav element. The seating is claustrophobic and the high chairs make it uncomfortable to climb up and sit down on. The space hasn't been optimised. The service is as great as always, but I would rather go to the Oracle. But that is a bit of a walk for me as I suffer from Angina and have a chronic heart condition. So, maybe saying that means I shouldn't be eating unhealthily anyway, so no great loss.

It's Ok! Kind stuff . It's better after renovation!

This restaurant has recently been refurbished. Unfortunately it is not great. Many of the seats downstairs are of the high stool kind which make it difficult for people with mobility problems to access. As all lower seats downstairs were taken there was no option but to sit upstairs. Unfortunately there is no lift access which again causes problems for people with mobility issues. The new seating is very hard and uncomfortable. Food wise, it is good, although the fries could have been hotter and crispier. Staff are friendly. The restaurant and toilets were spotlessly clean.

We took 2 of my grandsons and one wanted a balloon so I asked the assistant if that was possible, she returned with a balloon for each boy plus an activity pack to keep them quiet until the food arrived.Great service with friendly staff.

Well, the truth is, it is one of my favorite places and the food is very good... Everything is very clean... I recommend that you go there...

It was wonderfool to get food at 3 morning, but 🍟 taste horrible.

Ok, am advised to use the screens to order food, what I do is amend my order so that it's freshly cooked, means you have to wait longer but at least you know it's not been hanging around. Really understanding staff as I ordered the wrong item and they changed it with no questions

We've all been to Mac Donald's before, so there's not much more that I can say about it. This specific one has its toilets upstairs which are usually a little dirty but aren't too off-putting. They don't have any sauce dispensers upstairs either, but there is a console where you can order which is convenient during lunch rushes if you want to skip the queues.

Good food, I mean it's maccies it's usually good, loud classical music was an odd touch but works well, food was serves so fast, usually the fast food chains I go to like maccies you gotta wait 10mins or so but this was ready in like 3, and was still hot!!

I ate at this McDonald’s last Tuesday. The dining experience was adequate, with speedy service and ample sauces available to delight my tastebuds. I enjoyed my 9 piece chicken McNuggets with barbecue sauce and, my personal favourite, sweet curry sauce. Fed up and raring to go, I continued my afternoon. However, disaster struck that night. As the clock struck 3, it was all but quiet over my suburban neighbourhood. All except the sound of my acute illness. I sat among my home, crawling to the toilet bowl, praying for god himself to end my suffering. Days were spent, unable to digest a simple glass of water. I heaved for hours, a sick bag in my hands as the devil himself emerged from both ends. Rest assured, it was a sleepless night and a tired day. I would not recommend this McDonalds, however if your fate leads you there, do not purchase the McNuggets. It will be the last time you ever do…

Dare I call anything McDonald’s a hidden gem? In this case, well, I’m considering deploying that very cliché. Hear me out. First time I visited for breakfast, it was uncomfortably busy. People crowding round the screens and standing against the tables awaiting their orders. Looked like it wouldn’t be a relaxed place to eat. So gave the upstairs a go, and what a contrast! Calmness reigned. A large room almost empty of customers, a variety of comfy chairs in stylish colours, corners and niches to hide in. A peaceful haven to eat, and then sip coffee and chill or read a paper before braving the mad world. Not sure this lovely upper room is well known. I always go there now. So, yes, I’m saying it: hidden gem.

Fast food no longer exists, 10 mins to get 2 cheese burgers, terrible service and useless staff, there were at least 10 members of staff but the food still took forever with customers standing everywhere waiting on food

Can't comment on food, waited for 5 mins to place an order but staff to busy with contractor to take my order. Would have taken 20seconds to take my order and go back to contractor.

Really surprised from the service, I now is a fast food, but the service that Loroana give us tonight after a small accident happened with our order. There is a difference between serve a customer and TAKE CARE of it . Thank you Loroana !

Food excellent and to the standards one expect from McDonald's. Service was friendly but a touch rushed... they weren't that busy, but seemed to want to hurry me. Atmosphere, decor and furniture needs serious attention. Please McDonald's corporate send this branch a much needed refresh.
