A campus institution as iconic as the Paternoster.

Didn't eat there as they had shut down the kitchen early (not in term time and it's mainly a uni student place so i understand) the service was nice and friendly and the atmosphere at the time was nice and chilled ( again not in term time so it might not always be that chill)

A traditional style free-house that serves an excellent range of beers and ciders. The inside is a little tired but it’s always a great place to visit with colleagues and friends. A lovely beer garden to sit outside when the weather is nice

This pub is surrounded by the campus of the University of Sheffield and, although much of the clientele is obviously students, the place has a rather less studenty feel than you might expect and everyone is made most welcome. The character is very much that of a traditional pub. There is a good range of ales on the bar, some from local breweries, whilst the food offering is fairly straightforward pub grub. Don't come here looking for anything exotic, as far as food is concerned, but we all enjoyed our bar meals. Personally, I opted for the Fish & Chips which was well presented, with a nice crispy batter on the fish, decent chips plus a portion of mushy peas, and all reasonably priced. The pub also boasts a pleasant garden area for al fresco eating and drinking.

University bar, it is what it is, free function room for a cycling club meeting.

Food was okay, although we don't recommend the fish and chips too well. Cheesy chips and sausage and mash were delicious and the beer was good.

Decent boozer opposite the university. Good staff. Oddly folks still queue in a line for the bar. Thought we had moved on. Clearly not. Anyhow real ale and excellent crisp collection. What’s not to like.

A really nice pub with a lively atmosphere and a good outdoors space to match the indoors. The staff are welcoming and friendly the food is excellent and there's plenty of choice to drink. Unfortunately the name tells you where it's near which means no easy parking nearby but trams and bus stops are only a short walk away. All in all well worth a visit.

This is a proper pub. Great real ale selection. Seating inside and out. Wonderful. Lovely, friendly staff. I wish it was closer to us.

Language exchange meeting pub. Lots of different people if you fancy a chat in Russian, Chinese, Portuguese, German, Danish, French, Spanish, etc, etc, etc.

Pop in for lunch while at a conference that was in the area. But was told that food would be an hour as they were "rushed off there feet". We were tbf a group of 15 people but other then that the pub was very quite maybe another 10 other people in there. Service was slow, but the garden was tidy.

Long rant below, but tl;dr; the Uni Arms has been serving dairy ice cream as a vegan dessert for months. This is not acceptable and a real shame. Unfortunately, when it comes to vegan/vegetarian options, the Uni Arms can't be trusted. We found out recently that the vegan desserts that we've been eating for a while are served with dairy ice cream - they have vegan ice cream available, but they mistakenly have not been using it (not a one time thing - we've had this dessert many times). The dessert is marked vegan on the menu. If you ask the staff, they clearly haven't been informed about any of this because they aren't confident answering questions about it. (We were told by one staff member that he believes that the cake is vegan but the ice cream it's served with isn't, when the cake is marked vegan -- casually, as if that would be fine.) They also usually don't ask about allergies, even if you order vegan, so they would serve dairy ice cream to someone with a milk allergy. This is just not acceptable, and way behind most restaurants and bars who are getting these things right nowadays, and it's really disappointing. We'll be inclined to just not eat here in the future.

If this were anywhere else it'd be the best pub in the city. Sheffield has a huge number of great pubs. This place has lovely aesthetics and a great beer choice. Inside and outside spaces. Great job.

Horrible food. Very greasy. I had the fish tacos which were dripping in oil. Vegan pie was soggy and revolting. Service was poor. Staff unhelpful. Wouldn’t recommend it.

Excellent ales. Beautiful pub mgd., by enthusiastic young couple. Good atmosphere. Picked out by my wife from an App. Glad we visited after CAMRA A.G.M.

A busy pub which nevertheless offered good spaces for groups. Good range of food including a vegan pie and I greatly enjoyed excellent fish and chips in a friendly atmosphere . Outside the city centre but accessible by tram which offers a quick ride to the station .

A little off the beaten track but worth the effort quite a few cask beers always rotating loads of quality lagers etc a usually quiet place with a lovely beer garden. I like it a lot!

Nice decor and selection of beer. Very loud music at 3pm on a weekday, so not easy to relax - volume was turned up (by the manager) when asked to turn it down, so we left promptly. Dirty glasses and unclean beer lines leaving debris floating around. May just have been an off day 🤷‍♂️

Enjoyed it, will return again soon. I recommend the chip butty! Warning though, the place can get quite busy quite quickly

We went with our student grandaughter. All four of us had different meals. All were excellent and we really enjoyed them. The chips especially. We sat in the conservatory and asked that the loudspeaker be turned down, which it was, politely and quickly That doesnt often happen in other venues. We will all go again.

Have been a few times now for the Tuesday Quiz and it’s always an amazing experience- good drinks and delicious food (free quiz potatoes!!) I’ve been served by Murray and Ben who were wonderful :) Will be coming back for sure :D

Nice Pub with good atmosphere.....

Nice atmosphere, plenty of space but not easy to park nearby. Was attending event and background music was very intrusive. Mango cider is lovely.

No food order after 7.55 was a bummer...other than that it was a nice place with snooker tables upstairs.

Opening times are unreliable. Waited outside for opening, tried calling, knocking etc and no answer. Moved on in the end. It's got a fairly decent beer selection if you catch it open

Abysmal food! The staff are nice and funny!

Called in for a ore-concert feed. We had a spicy chicken burger and a quiche both came with salad and chips. The chips were great, best chips I've had in a few years. Prices were very fair and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Popular pub among University of Sheffield students, the location is great and the back garden is a pleasant surprise in between the uni buildings. Quite expensive though, £5+ for most pint

Food is exceptional, bar is superbly well stocked and varied, staff are lovely. Beer garden well maintained and I love that you can hear the city beyond. Lovely pub.

The staff are very friendly. However, they do not accept cash which makes me wonder if they are trying to condition students to partake in the digital surveillance economy. However, there is a stout man in glasses that very generously gave me a drink for free as I had forgotten that it did not accept cash. This was a lovely gesture of good will and I have not forgotten it. The food is quite nice. I don't like the crowds. However, I like this pub.

Great place for food and drink. They also have a snooker room and darts available. They also accept the University of Sheffield GeniUS card meaning you can pick up points if your a Uni of Sheffield student!

Excellent selection of real ales and first class service

Went in at lunch time so perhaps missed out on the evening atmosphere. The staff were friendly and the food was good (only had the cheesy chips), the price was right as well. Only thing that stops it getting 5/5 was the time it took for two cheesy chips to be brought out. Other than that would certainly recommend to others.
