This pub is brilliant except for the service. Supervisor with glasses was clearly drunk, swaying and all over the place, and kept popping into a back room and reappearing with a full drink. Love this pub but he needs sacking!!!

Siempre una buena noche en Springvale. Siempre encantadores barmans y cerveza siempre buena y barata.

I would love to give a minus review as i never experienced such service . The cheeseburger ordered had no salad and really awful taste. I was with some friends who had same experience. We gathered there to play some pool but the atmosphere of the pub makes you feel unwanted. Landlady is always rude to me and my Spanish friends ( i have been before here but last night is te last time ) To top it up , i see this guy going into the kitchen with a supermarket bag full of frozen pizzas. You make your own conclusion about the quality and service they offer in this pub !

We visited today at teatime which would have been around 5:30 And stayed for around 2 hours and paid for drinks and we met up with a family member who has 3 children and also my 2 children 3 and 9 months. We also purchased food. We wasn't causing any trouble and was having a game of pool while the children joined in and watched and they played with the building bricks that they provided which you would think they accepted children into their pub. At around 7pm the landlady rudely said to us to keep our children quiet as she could hear them upstairs and her children are in bed. What does she expect in a pub?! At 11pm when the pub is full of loud drunks and music, does she tell them to he quiet?! Probably not! She obviously has children and they wasn't being that loud or misbehaving. I think she needs some training in customer service and people skills herself and I hope she does see this review too. This pub used to host a playgroup too, I'm not sure if it still does. I would have a thought they would have a more understanding with children. Obviously not and I will take my custom elsewhere in future!

Don't go for the pub quiz, you won't win. One of the lads on the bar won a sort of card/bingo game which was quite fun until he won it, I'm sure he won that fair and square but he should have never been able to enter, I shouldn't have to explain why this is a problem. Then on to the quiz where a team that consisted of bar staff that work there but weren't on shift and the owner/landlady who was behind the bar won. They happened to get 32 out of 35 questions correct and all though the quiz was not 'impossible', this score was very high. Again the owner cheering when that team won is not a good sight for pub goers. £70 were on offer and all of them went back in to the pub in some way. Poor showing.

After a visit to this pub several months ago, I find the experience to have been so completely average that one barely remembers that the pub even exists. Located up the hill past the University from the CIty Centre, the Springvale Tavern is completely overshadowed by the two other local independent alehouses on the same junction. On entering, it certianly seems like a "regulars-only" kind of place. Several people turned to stare at us as we walked up to the bar; that is, those who were not so completely captivated by whatever sport was playing on the television. The ale selection was cheap enough, but not massively varied. We went and found some seats in the far off corner, only to be told that we had to move because that was the "eating only" section. No one was eating there, and the rest of the pub was full. Instead we played pool, under the screen with everyone staring above us, which felt weird; they also make you pay to use the table, which loses them points in my book.

Very good value Sunday lunch - 2 for £12 with a choice of roasts plus dessert. Food was good, well cooked and came with with lots of fresh vegetables. Suspect this is really busy during student term time but very pleasant sitting in the garden on a sunny afternoon. Service very good - staff were really friendly.

Visited here recently for the Outibridge Training Band concert which my husband plays in. It's a lovely pub with a good atmosphere. All staff I came across were so polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Only had a drink so can't comment on the food, but it all smelt lovely and people around us were eating at it all looked great! Hope to return soon for food.

The Venue was organised by our orienteering club as a place to meet after the evenings race. It's not the usual place we would go to as it looks quite dingy on the outside. However we were really impressed with the menu, really low priced food. We were still expecting microwave food so we're amazed ar the quality of the home prepared food that arrived. Noy had this good quality for this price in Sheffield for a long time. Kids meals were free too which was a bonus, especially as the chicken nuggets were home made chunks of chicken in batter. Our only whinge was the rice on the vegi curry tasted very watery. We will be back!

I went in for fiod as I was aware if an adult buys a meal tney get a kids meal free. However I was charged for the kids meal anyway. The kids options were the usual fish fingers chicken nuggets etc so we opted for fish fingers only yor be told they werent any so we opted for the nuggets. I had sausage and mash. While I was waiting I asked if the free kids meal offer had expired and was told it hadnt and then handed the money back that I had paid for it. My meal was burnt sausages very cheap grissly ones and lumpy cold mash. The kids meal was cold chips very greasy and cold flat nuggets that were like cardboard.

Took my husband and our 2 boys for Sunday lunch today and I have to say it was fabulous! All homemade! We had the lamb and the boys had chicken dinners which came plated with a homemade Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, stuffing and gravy. Then in terrines arrived leeks, fine green beans, red cabbage and cauliflower cheese...again at this point I must reiterate all fresh vegetables! The meat was so tender and tasty. I cannot fault it! The portion size was very generous, staff were attentive and friendly and the pub in general felt really welcoming and homely. After our dinners we were told we could have a free dessert each so we had ginger sponge and custard and the children had fresh strawberries and ice cream, again the desserts were lovely! We had 2 beers and the boys had 2 soft drinks and the complete meal with drinks cost £20! Fabulous value for money and an incredible meal! Will definitely be returning!

I've been going there to eat for a few days in a row now and it has been great. Food is incredibly cheap and you can get sweet deals depending on the day of the week you visit. You can also select ingredients for you pizza and it tastes very much like home made. The pub does sometimes feel quite empty though.

We went to the springvale even after reading the mediocre ratings here hoping to give them the benefit of the doubt, how wrong we were. We live in the area and after hearing it had recently changed manager we thought we would give it a try. The food was insipid and the staff rude. The manageress should think about changing careers or at least have some classes in customer service. I have never seen such poor treatment of clients with such false superiority.

Unfortunately this is the first negative review I've had to leave. If you're just going for a pint then this is a nice pub. I ordered fish and chips however and would definitely recommend to avoid. The chips were okay but the fish was the most basic, cheap freezer fish I've ever had. Tiny and artificially shaped, not nice at all. Worse than the standard home-freezer ones. The staff were also very blunt when ordering at the bar, and signs on the walls saying things like "you must have a drink in hand at all times if watching sport" are not needed. Much potential but spoilt by poor ownership.

Obviously can't comment on other peoples comments regarding rudeness, but I've always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. There's a decent choice of drinks, and they are slowly building up the choice of real ales. Food is excellent, either from the menu, or the Sunday lunch, home cooked and great value for money. It's even biker friendly too, which is a bonus if you turn up for a meal soaked through and bedraggled! All in all a great pub that is gradually building back up from being run down in the past. Give it a try.

Had a committee meeting here, was late so sat straight down to catch up, though was planning on buying a drink, very soon after I sat down a staff member came over and told me rudely to buy a drink or leave. I understand those are the rules, it is a business after all, however it was unfriendly, rude and very unreasonable. The pub was basically empty at the time. The drinks are pretty disgusting and the atmosphere is dead. I have been to this pub before and it's been really nice. Since it changed hands in January I would avoid it.

Me and my friends have been visiting the pub since it opened in 2012. The staff are very friendly, the drinks prices are very competitive, good selection of snacks, and there is lots of comfy seating both at the bar and at tables. Families allowed during the day. Pool table, games/quiz machines, regular live entertainment, Sunday night quiz - all very enjoyable and great to see a good mix of activities and events to go along to. We particularly enjoy the performances of a Rat Pack tribute singer, Harry Dean. We always try to catch his shows and always look forward to going to the Springvale whenever he is singing. Would definitely recommend this pub to all.

Waiter gave us a menu and explained the process for ordering etc very promptly. Young lady behind the coffee bar took my order nicely and asked me to wait for the coffee for me to take to our table. No problem with that. However, whilst waiting, the initial girl and the other girl barista chatted very loudly, no rush to make my drinks. They were discussing a story between them and we're swearing f***ING loudly and persistently in front of me and other customers . Unaware this is not a great experience.

We heard that the Angel Inn had re-opened under new management, and that the pub had been given a make-over and were now doing really good food - so we thought we would go and check it out! We went along mid-afternoon on Thursday 25th January, 2024, the place is very clean, warm and welcoming, a nice, cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Louise the manager, who we took-to immediately, is so enthusiastic and passionate about running a good pub. They have a wide range of drinks and the menu although limited at present, is set to be extended, and they do Sunday lunch. The chef, an ex-army chef but with lots of civilian experience in restaurants too, is also passionate about providing great, home-made food. We very much liked the look of things, so we booked for Sunday lunch - we went along on Sunday 28th January - the food did not disappoint! We had a choice of beef, pork or chicken, or we could have some of each. The plate came out with the meat, Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, along with it came a large dish of vegetable and a gravy boat. As promised, everything was home-made, cooked from scratch and as we expected, totally delicious! Then came dessert, we all had treacle sponge with custard, but there was a choice of jam sponge, apple crumble or cheese-cake, - home made, and it too was delicious!, and all at a reasonable price - well worth it! We will be back - but we are also going to go along mid-week and check out their menu offers - they are going to be getting wine and drinks offers too - what more could you want! 👍😁.
