Great experience, very good burgers and fish and chips. However, as in all London restaurants, the prices are high.

We came for Sunday lunch on the 11th Feb and left really disappointed. we came at 12.30 in the afternoon, so even though they were busy should have been early enough for us to have decent food (it did get very busy, so I guess they must be good usually). We ordered 2 roast dinners, 2 burgers, a steak and short rib. After waiting for an hour for food (tables around us getting served much quicker) both burgers were cold, the £35(ish) steak was over cooked and the roast pork belly was inedible. Roast chicken and short rib were both nice. Though short rib was also over done, a bit chewy to be considered slow cooked. Oh and the one starter that was ordered calamari, was also over cooked and chewy. Everyone ate due to waiting so long, but I wish I complained about the pork. Meat was so over cooked I couldn't chew and swallow, and the fat and glaze was the opposite, uncooked and also inedible. left the whole thing on my plate. When we came to pay there was desserts on the menu we hadn't ordered, and waited way too long for coffee. Waitress was nice, but could see she was stretched by the time we left. Every corner of the pub was being used for food.

Would be a 4.5 if I could. Staff were very friendly and attentive, roast dinner was good quality - cauliflower cheese doesn’t match my northern expectations but overall a great stop

Nice old 'local ' pub but now also a restaurant. I had a burger, handmade but dry, no pickles or relish so it was all very dry. The triple cooked chips were amazing which is why I gave a 4☆ rating. We visited lunchtime.

Always stop here when visiting relatives for a lovely meal & relaxing friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend here

Absolutely perfect. Ordered the lamb chop, red wine, beer, and fish n chips. All if it was excellent. Not too crowded. You must check it out.

Arrive early (before 6.30) and there’s a really good value menu. We ate a bit later when this wasn’t available but still had a great value (for London) steak and chips meal. The steak was really well cooked and was as tender as I’ve ever eaten. Hot chips the only accompaniment. We took advantage of the optional sauces which were great (peppercorn) and ok (blue cheese butter). Delightful staff. Good range of beers

We had an excellent two course lunch today. First class friendly staff, first class food ,all for £14.95 per head.We would definitely recommend to everyone.

I was a visitor to London and I had eaten at this restaurant/pub about 4 or 5 years ago. We intended to go to a competitor close by but I wanted to give the Union Tavern a return visit. I'm so glad we did!! We only had a main course but my beef Wellington was amazing! Really amazing and so tasty. My partner has the Halibut special which she really enjoyed too. The service was excellent. The NZ Sauvignon gorgeous and the coffee tasted good too. I wish this eatery was 80 miles further north. Well done.

Very nice Sunday roast!! I ordered beef. It was very tender and all my friends enjoyed it! Potatoes were dry but everything else was fantastic !

What a lovely traditional pub this is a little gem. It was opposite hotel where we were staying overnight to catch eurostar at st pancras next morning. So welcoming for having a few beers /cocktails and the food is smazing in fact would say the lamb cutlet dish was the best i have ever had equal to or even better than any top restaurant . Would definately recommend and if in this area again will be back.

Food was great value for money! (£17 for 2 courses). I had the strudle and the lamb. Huge portions! Wasn't a fan of the mint mash, I found it too heavy. But all in all, nice food! Nice vibe, half the place is a restaurant, the other, a casual bar (not sure if there's an upstairs) Side note: please update your Instagram, you could get so many more people here

Stumbled across the Union Tavern looking for a proper Sunday Roast, and it did not disappoint. Although we hadn't booked the staff found us a great table right by the open kitchen where we could see, and smell, the great food coming out. The lunches were top quality, with all the usual trimmings, and great value too. We will definitely be back the next time we are in London.

Stayed in travelodge farringdon so thought this only 2 min walk.. go left out of hotel. Gorgeous food and wonderful service. We will definitely be returning.

Fantastic Sunday roast. They were kind enough to accommodate us even without a reservation. Would certainly come back again. Good stop after the Postal Museum. Also have a kids menu with some great options. Even for picky kids.

A great pub with a welcoming atmosphere. Whilst stating locally, I had a steak meal on two occasions. Easily 2 of the best steaks I’ve had. Well with a visit for just a drink or a meal.

We found this pub by chance after being stranded in London last weekend due to Storm Babet. We had a room in the hotel opposite. It was such a warm and welcoming place, a rare find in London! Staff were amazing and the food was both reasonably priced and delicious. And only 20 minutes walk from Kings Cross station.

Ww were staying at The Crown Plaza in Kings Cross. Across the road is The Union Tavern. We decided to pop over for a drink. We were greeted by a young man named Mitchel . We got chatting and discovered that he came from Broome in Western Australia. As we were on holiday from Perth in WA this was a pleasant surprise. We decided to stay for Dinner, which turned out to be a very good decision. We visited the Union three times during that week, and really enjoyed great staff and very good food. We would like to commend Mark Chris Mitchel Amber and Rebecca for very good service and very nice personalities. We thoroughly enjoyed our visits, and recommend a visit. Cheers Nic and Helen.

Fabulous pub, food amazing, staff friendly.

The Union is a great local pub; it's one of our regulars on a Saturday evening. The food is excellent and reasonably priced (I love the rib-rye steaks), the service is great and the staff are friendly, the beers are good and it's a beautiful historic building. There's a small outdoor area too. The atmosphere is generally casual dining or drinking with friends, not too loud or busy and crowded.

Such a lovey experience. Friendly and attentive staff, food was delicious and good value for money. Big portions, I had the chicken grill burger with chilli guacamole and it was divine! Chicken was cooked to perfection not dry at all! My partner had the steak cuts, beautiful meal that was also cooked to perfection. It is a small space however this makes it cozy and intimate. You can watch the chefs cooking as the kitchen is at one end of the restaurant. Overall a great experience, sadly did not get our servers name, she was a lovely lady who made sure we had everything we needed. A lovely end to our visit!

Our server and the food were fantastic. My husband had the braised lamb and mint potatoes and wanted to lock the plate! (I wouldn't let him!) The chips that came with my burger were the best I've had.

Simple dishes but not good. Starter was a couple of sliced chorizo sausages on a piece of sliced bread. Main course fish and chips, fish so heavily battered it was uncooked, chunky chips burnt outside and hard as nails inside then mushy peas that looked like they had baked in the sun all day. Not good at all 😔

We have a regular team meeting at the end of the month, and for some time we were mixing up our lunch venue - but not for the last 6months. When you find a gem, why go anywhere else? The food is always exceptional, service fantastic, staff friendly and lastly, it’s very reasonable for the quality of this place. We will continue to use this pub as our go-to until we have gone through the entire menu x 2! Def worth a visit.

Great pork belly roast and sticky toffee pud! Very generous on the pork belly, couldn’t eat it all but of course had room for dessert!

Called in by chance as staying at hotel across the road. Although many tables reserved the staff very obliging. 2 dining areas. We were in the busier one where you can see into the kitchen. Very reassuring to watch your food be prepared so skillfully....

Had the 10oz sirloin steak, it was cooked perfectly, it was like butter the service was exceptional too

Superb pub, happened upon while staying nearby for some medical tests. The staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. They managed to fit us in on a busy Sunday night, and, after the shortest of waits for our food, brought us a complimentary sharing starter to apologise for the wait. We were surprised but delighted and it was an excellent bonus dish! The food is great, they also have cask beers on tap in excellent condition. We enjoyed it so much we couldn't find anywhere nearby that looked like it could compare the following night, and returned for a second meal, which didn't disappoint. We really can't recommend this venue highly enough! Thank you for two excellent evenings.

Great venue, badly managed. I went with a friend to drink in the pub garden this Wednesday which was great until 10pm, but the pub quiz inside carried on until 10.30 - rather than deal with the situation professionally the quiz host just got annoyed and tried shouting over everyone, including someone's birthday party. We went there almost every day or evening for either food or drinks (or both), and the folks there were wonderful. There is one big television towards the back near the stairs, and the bar staff was terrific about turning it on so I could watch the Wimbledon matches while we were there (and changing channels as needed). The food and and drinks were enjoyable; the atmosphere was equally enjoyable; and the easy walk across the street made it our go-to place. It should be yours, too, if you're staying in that area.
