Gorgeous setting and beautifully decorated throughout. We had our 2 pooches with us so we were in the bar area. Food was delicious, sausage rolls are a must, either as a starter or just take one home! Very friendly & attentive staff, couldn’t have asked for more. We’ll definitely be returning.

The event was a WI lunch. Excellent food and service. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the quality and variety of food was brilliant!

Went for Sunday lunch, food and service were excellent. You won't leave here hungry, i ordered the pork which arrived piping hot with a big thick slice. My husband had the beef, said it was the most tender beef he has had in a long time. The lunch was very tasty and we didn't even have room for a desert. Well done to The Unicorn.

We were recommended to this pub/restaurant by friends - they were certainly right in their praise. A lovely looking, traditional Nottinghamshire building from the outside, leads into two spacious dining rooms and a separate bar. Everything was spotless and we saw that tables were cleared and cleaned quickly, when empty. The waiting staff were pleasant, professional and kept checking back that everything was fine. The dinner menu was sensibly short but with plenty of choice across all three courses. We shared a starter and pudding and chose the sirloin steak and fish as our main courses. Both were cooked as ordered and of good quality. When we were dining (on a Saturday evening) freshly made pizzas were also on offer from a ‘pop up’ van. Prices of both the food and drinks were very reasonable and it was no surprise that most tables were taken. Another lovely dining pub in the Vale!

I know I end up writing more than one review, one here and one on Google but who knows what platforms people use. After our Sky Dive was cancelled we popped in and the manager was really accomodating. Found space for us all at short notice and thankfully he did. I went for the pork loin which was so tender. We had a mixture amongst the rest of us and all of it was beautiful.

Pie was delicious Chicken, chorizo,and red pepper. Pastry melt in the mouth, nicely presented. Staff very polite and professional. So encouraging to be in a busy buzzing atmosphere considering it was a Monday. Definitely recommend, will return.

Fabulous meal today sat at the court yard table it was very special. The food and service were excellent. With DJ Terry to create the perfect atmosphere. Thank you to all at The Unicorns Head.

Food was very good and prices reasonable. The waitresses were very efficient and friendly. I do object to the percentage they put extra on the bill if you are willing to.pay it It's like putting pressure on the customer when they have just come in for a meal. Everywhere is doing it now and if we paid this extra everywhere we go we would not be able to go out like we do now we are retired. The Staff should be paid a good wage and the establishment should make enough money off food and drink without customers having to donate their hard earned money to boost there takings. If customers want to give tips it should be their choice to do so without being pressured. This is just my opinion but I do feel strongly that it should be up to the customer their decision not being asked to do so.

First time of going since it changed hands and it was well worth it. The service was great; friendly staff and quick service with the drinks and food ordering. The food was delicious!! There was a really good selection of dishes to choose from which made it difficult to decide. Loved the idea of the Friday chippy tea menu, we choose from the main menu but will be back to try it. BBQ pulled pork on a Hash Brown, Salt Baked Hake on creamed peas with Veggies and to finish Cherry Bakewell Tart with Pistachios ice cream. Thank you, great to have found a local pub with delicious food!

Really tasty Sunday lunch…all the food was fresh and full of flavour. Would definitely recommend!

Our visit didn't start off well, they had just opened for service so I stood at the bar waiting to be served no one acknowledge I was there , 2 ladies were buzzing around, so I was patient, 2 lads came in and one of the ladies spoke to them immediately and told a young man to serve at the bar, he came to the bar, ignored me and asked the 2 lads behind me what I wanted! At that point I asked if I were invisible..... He didn't apologise but the 2 lads behind me did... How rude are these members of staff! I asked for a lager and prosecco, took these outside and discovered my prosecco was white wine, so rejoined a now huge queue, again no apology from this bar person. It was time for our meal, mediocre I would call starters..... Main courses, 2 children's sunday lunch ckn, and one ckn chips, none of the kids ate theirs they said ckn tasted funny. One person had lamb, but said it could have been any meat, didn't have the taste of lamb. My salad was OK and can't remember the others, The bill included gratutities... I just paid and left we won't be going there again, by the way I think the lady that ignored me was in charge, shame on her, sweetness when I went to pay the bill !!

Three of us went for a birthday meal. All three of us throughly enjoyed the food, friendly service and atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Returned to the Unicorn for fathers day lunch. This was the best sunday roast Ive ever eaten in a restaurant. Fantastic , pink roast beef, crispy roast potatoes and delicaely cooked veg . Fantastic

First visit here. We will definitely be back. We had fish and chips and our friends had the pie and the sea bream. We all agreed that the food was delicious.

We visited for Sunday lunch with some visiting friends.This was for the first time ,after reading about The Unicorns Head online. The food was very good quality,with plenty of choices for all 3 courses and we were pleased to find that it was also piping hot,which is not always the case elsewhere. Our waitress was polite and helpful,and we look forward to returning again in the future.

My son and daughter in law booked this for our get together, what an excellent choice ,couldn’t fault it ,the decor,the staff and off course the food were first rate ,we’re from Yorkshire but will definitely go there again when we visit

What a lovely place. We had a great time. Staff were lovely polite and attentive. Atmosphere was great music outside with a DJ but not overly loud just a nice volume. Sun was shining it was beautiful. The food was fabulous (sorry no pics was to bust eating it lol) super nice place to visit. I would definitely go again. 💕

Went for Sunday lunch at this lovely historic pub. Welcome on entering and staff very good throughout our visit. Lunch menu had a good variety of dishes on offer albeit limited vegetarian choices. Lots of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to choose from. The food was delicious, very well cooked and good portion sizes.

Fantastic hospitality from staff. Very attentive. My meal was lovely. My husband’s wasn’t so impressive. Therefore an average review so far. We may go again and try other dishes.

Just came for drinks and live locally ordered the Sauvignon blanc it was vile!! It tasted something like on draft at wetherspoons!! Which I don't do!! and at £9.95 not worth it at all! Had to refuse it. They did offer me the chardonnay not great but better than the SB they need to review their wine!

Been up there again today for a chilled Sunday and it didn't disappoint. Chilled tunes on the terrace and again the best sunday lunch anywhere I have been to date. Give it a try guys. You will not be dissappinted

Amazing place, lovely people, excellent service, and most importantly, absolutely fabulous food!

Friendly staff. We visited on a Monday night, which was very quiet. Very happy with the halloumi & mushroom burger.

Incredible food. Plenty to choose from and absolutely delicious. We had mains and dessert and they were exceptional, tempted away from my standard sticky toffee pudding by the bakewell with pistachio icecream and it did not dissapoint. Definitely returning.

Excellent pub and fantastic overall experience. Dog friendly in the bar. Really comfortable seats and non intrusive but friendly and helpful staff. Only downside was that we could not have at a tab as sat in the bar area. Football on tv and the food is exceptional. Sunday roasts were all brilliant. Great quality meat with thick slices. Big Yorkshire’s and healthy portions. Excellent starters and desert too. Always a good sign when there’s more than 1 dish you would choose. Good choice of beers and wine too. New ownership has done the Unicorns head proud and back to its brilliant best. Highly recommended and would come back again at a heartbeat.

Pleased to say that it’s now improved significantly under new management. And I LOVE that they do 0% beer on draft! Great for the drivers and also for people who prefer not to drink. The alcohol free choices are fantastic. Also great wine list and menu. We visited for Sunday lunch and it was great to be offered the choice of pink or well done lamb. Potatoes were a bit over done but I think it’s because we were a bit later in the day. Looking forward to returning and trying out some more dishes.

It is safe to say that the Unicom has now become my favourite pub in the Vale, in fact I’d go as far as to say it’s the best pub in the Vale. Great food, pleasant and helpful staff and well kept beers. You really could not ask for anymore.

Had our lunch here today. We had an outstanding lunch with great food. The waiting girl (and chef) were very obliging when I asked if I could have the Whitebait as a main course. This is the third time we have eaten here and like our previous visits, we had a great lunch. We admit that we are quite hard to please as we are both 'foodies' and can cook great food at home. However, we have no hesitation in recommending this place to others. We will definitely be returning soon.

Great pub! Really nice staff, very attentive however, can I suggest a couple of things, firstly please have the salt pepper and accompaniment, once orded of course on the table beforehand, there is nothing worse than having a lovely meal served and then being asked would you like anything else, and then wait for salt, mustard etc. also, all the trimmings on the Sunday roast needs to be more specific! I’d like expect stuffing with chicken at no extra cost??… great pub, good food, good staff..will be visiting again.

We were looking forward to our dining experience at the Unicorns Head. Upon arrival, we were placed at a table in the middle of an empty room and some of the chairs were tiny. We asked to be moved, and we're then told the table we were at was unavailable after a certain time. We then moved back to the original table to which was overly sticky to touch. A staff member then sprayed and wiped the table but it still remained sticky. It was clear the table required a thorough wash down. Menus were dirty with food waste from previous customers. On a positive note, the customer service was engaging and the staff were kind and had empathy. Despite our meals being varied for over four people, they were disappointing as most meals came with chips which were tasteless and cooked in oil. You could buy alternative sides. The food here is expensive for what you get, and as a suggestion it might be helpful to provide options to have mashed potato instead of chips with the main course. Finally, the desserts were okay. But the cheese board selection was overpriced at £9.50 with a few small pieces of cheese and oat crackers with one of the cheeses being completely dried out as it seemed the board was plated up hours or a day prior instead of being freshly prepared.

One of the best Sunday lunches I have ever had. The beef was cooked beautifully, melted in the mouth. The extra cauliflower cheese was fab and the extra jug of gravy, much appreciated. Great menu, everyone had a different roast and there was nothing left on any plate. Puddings also lovely. I would recommend the bakewell tart. Great service, and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and I can't wait to go back.

Great country pub with decent food and fantastic staff. Would love to have given it 5* but upon on arrival our party of 9 was informed that the management had decided the day before to make the venue CASHLESS. I really hope this is something the management re-consider. Cash is king. It is very worrying to see another small business discriminating against the elderly and people who choose to use cash.

I had my leaving party meal Wednesday 20th March the food and the service was excellent they catered for about 30 of us and it all was lovely I can highly recommend the cauliflower and butter been pie it’s the 3rd time I’ve had it and each time 10/10 Thank you all very much

We went here last night , first time since the new owners took over . Our table was booked for 5.30 in the restaurant which was quiet to start with but soon started to fill up . The atmosphere is very warm and cosy , the staff very friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. I had the belly pork which just melted in your mouth . The menu is small but good options and a very good wine selection. It is higher end pub food but well worth it . Will definitely be visiting again

Officially found the greatest roast in the UK. I cannot recommend the ultimate roast enough. 10/10. Meat was cooked to perfection and the roast potatoes were so flavourful. The eclectic dessert menu was also top tier. Desperate to go back tbh. The staff were so helpful and managed to accommodate a group of us and our 4 legged friends.

What a lovely pub. So lucky that it is just over the road from our holiday cottage so have visited several times during our stay. Simon the owner/manager who has been in charge since September is a charming host and all his friendly staff are a credit to him. Have worked our way through most of the menu and it is all delicious. Shout out for the pork belly -the best cracking I have ever had! Can’t wait to return.

We were regulars at the manager and chef’s previous pub in Wollaton and recently moved. When we found out that they’d started here we had to give it a go for Sunday Lunch It didn’t disappoint. The quality was just as good as it always was with both familiar items and new ones. The staff are an upgrade and were attentive and helpful. Will be back!

Went for Sunday lunch excellent food and service 5 star. Was a big table of 16 and all enjoyed and loved the food and surroundings.

Sunday lunch was very tasty, however, I would expect that at £50 for 2 Sunday roasts and drinks. Additional gravy would have been nice. It's a shame that there was no hot water in the toilets for hand washing and the toilets also need redecorating to match the standard of the food offer. Customer toilets are usually a good reflection on how things are managed back-of-house. The toilets were being mopped at midday, which was a little strange. A big improvement on the previous owners. It hasn't been reopened long and I hope these niggles will addressed in time.

A return visit now it's been revitalised. An impressive menu, including a fixed price one and a kids' one, with many choices and reasonably priced for a village pub. Stand out and shout out to the friendly, attentive staff. In particular the consideration shown to my friend whose mobility is restricted. Will return.

Staying local, visited this pub with colleagues. Great food and service, shame I didn’t take any photos…but more importantly they catered for my coeliac disease, with gluten free options. Had the burger minus bun of course which was tasty and gluten free. Would recommend this pub. 10 out of 10.

Sunday breakfast with three friends a week or so ago - coffee was 200° what more could you ask for, it was one of the best - unfortunately only 1 breakfast - scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast - was acceptable. The others: bacon was burnt, the toast was hard sourdough which was difficult to eat, too much garlic on the mushrooms, halloumi on the vegi breakfast was fried in too much oil. Sorry we know you are trying but cooking a nice breakfast shouldn't be difficult.

Great chef and kitchen team, so great food. Waiting staff looked like new starters, so obviously still learning. Drinks are very expensive and never seems to be any offers. Great for people with money but not a local pub unless the locals are well-off. Great to go to for a special occasion, but be prepared to fork out.

First visit here and we went specifically because of the new ownership and it did not disappoint. The interior is beautiful, stylish and smart. Sunday roast was absolutely fantastic, every aspect. We had roast chicken with pig in a blanket, a roast lamb and a sweet potato and chestnut vegetarian roast and every single plate was perfect - best roast around and well priced for the quality. Can't wait to come back and try some other dishes on the menu!

Four of us went for a meal last night. We are all local but first time to the Unicorn since it has been under new management. Well done and a massive thank you. We had a lovely evening. The staff were brilliant. Very warm friendly and attentive. Really interesting menu. A good selection but not to big. This means we can return without getting bored of the menu. The food was excellent. Clearly good quality ingredients. The meat from Harker’s Farm shop which is the best. The pricing was very well done for such quality food. What we would have expected. Thank you to all involved and congratulations on a brilliant pub. We are looking forward to our next visit. The four of us had three courses each, three bottles of wine. The guys had four pints between them. £50 a head. Excellent value. A great evening!

Never been here before, apparently it has been refurbished, it is stunning and so cosy on a windy wet day. Food was great as were all the staff, wish it was our local!

A fantastic Sunday lunch yesterday. Excellent service at the table from efficient waitresses , delivered with a smile! This place has recently changed hands, and these people are making every effort here The meal was delicious and well presented . Thick slices of juicy Roast Beef cooked to our liking was beautiful and tender. I couldn't fault this place at all, and we will definitely go back soon. Reasonably priced too. Thank-you to you all at the Unicorns Head , Langar in the Vale of Belvoir.

First visit to the Unicorn in Langar and it was spot on! Went with the family who all enjoyed their Sunday roasts and great desserts too! The atmosphere was warm and friendly, with very attentive staff. Will definitely be back 👌

We hadn't been here for years, then a friend took me mid week and I brought my family back for Sunday lunch! We loved it ❤️ Beautiful decor, friendly service and amazing food. We will be back again soon

The Unicorn is a must when in the area. Great hosts, a good range of beers, wines and spirits and an excellent food menu. Outside seating area and dog friendly too. Friday night chippy tea - they do takeaway - and the Sunday lunch is to die for.

We had a Sunday roast with all the trimmings and it was very nice! Sticky toffee pudding was also the best I’ve had in a while. Compliments to the Chef and the staff for a wonderful service!!

Service was slow, but I believe the staff were inexperienced and learning, so it's understandable, food was nice and they even gave us a box to take some food home, all in all a great experience and I would recommend

The pub itself is very nice, but the amenities are very poor. I went to the ladies toilets to find a baby being changed on the floor as there were no changing facilities which I found very poor, and I felt sorry for the lady having to change the baby on a floor which wasn't very clean. the meal itself was very nice but we had a long wait for food. I also found some staff very rude, most were younger and very polite and helpful but one lady behind the bar we found very abrupt. Please also note that despite being advertised on the compare the market app as two for one meals it isn't any longer. ( I have raised this separately with compare the market) as we found out when we came to pay. We were abruptly told they no longer do this. We won't return unfortunately as we didn't feel it was very welcoming. Its a shame as the setting is nice but we feel the pub itself needs some improvement. On a separate note we were quite shocked at the state of the kitchen especially the floor as the door was open when we passed to go the toilet.

Last time I visited was last year and the service was awful. Staff had called in sick due to being out the night before and they ran out of food on the carvery. Visited today as I heard that it had reopened and was pleasantly surprised. Staff were friendly and helpful and from what I could see of the food it looked great. Ordered a pizza for my 11 year old and it was really nice. The pub is in a great location for a country pub and would definitely visit again if it remains at this standard.
