I was disappointed with the food. We ordered jacket potatoes at 11:30 on Saturday morning. It looked lovely, and the salad was fresh, but the potatoes were reheated leftovers from the previous day. (They weren't hot, and the skins were a bit overcooked) We still ate them. Elsewhere it's a great garden centre. The plants are well cared for. Although some of the prices are ridiculous. A jar of matches was for sale at £15.99 !!

Lots of different products from plants and seeds to garden furniture, clothes, toys, books, pets including small animal petting between 1200 and 1300. There is a cafe which was, on this occasion, fairly disappointing. Had the fish and chips with mushy peas. The chips and peas were good but the fish was dry and the batter overcooked!

Very disappointing meal. Ordered a beef sunday dinner and it must have been sat, precooked for hours. Beef was cold, incredibly well-done and tough. The ends had gone solid and crispy as if it was cured meat. All the veg was underdone with no flavour except a strange watery-cleaning product taste. No staff members came to see if we were enjoying the meal so we could not voice our concerns.

Having visited this garden centre on a handful of occasions, the layout and goods sold have always been of good quality. Today however, I visited the Nottscutts restaurant for the first time…and most definitely the last time. I ordered a cod (90% rock hard batter, 10% dry cod)and chips. The moment the peas become the best thing on the plate is the moment there’s something not quite right. Daughter had a cooked-from-frozen style pizza which was flat and lifeless. Son had fish goujons and chips which shared a similar fate as my tasteless cod. Wife had tomato soup which was probably the only thing fairly edible from our order. Come for the garden centre, do not stay for the food.

Merry Christmas Not!! I arranged to meet a friend at Notcutts Nottingham with my two baby girls. We planned to have lunch and a catch up, shop and to take the children to see Santa and play in the playground. All of these things, including feeding the baby, waiting for the table and food, we achieved in four hours twenty minutes. Not bad I thought. Despite spending more money than I anticipated, we all enjoyed the experience, that is, until I received a fine through the post because I exceeded the allotted parking time of four hours (which I was not aware of)!!!! Who would have thought you could not stay for the day, spending your money, if you were so inclined. In fact most businesses would encourage it, especially in these times. Needless to say we won’t be going again and my husband has confined me to the kitchen for Christmas!!!!

Called in for a coffee and a slice of cake before doing a little Christmas shopping. £13.80 for two slices of chocolate cake, a small cappuccino and a regular size hot chocolate. Lunch time appeared to have been busy as the tables were littered with use trays, plates, cups etc. There was no one clearing anything away. We cleared our own space. The cake was hard while the cappuccino was cold. There were only two members of staff on the checkout - one taking the payments and the other making drinks and it was busy so we did not complain. Overall the cafe experience was very poor. However we did buy two Christmas presents on the way out. Visiting the cafe and shopping here could be an enjoyable experience but this time it was not.

Food was good however the customer service let the evening down a lot. The food order was taken wrong, understandable. We were charged for the more expensive one, unsure of the difference, I asked about this that was met with the manager being rude and giving us the 50p difference. Not a singular apology, especially with one of our meals arriving when the others were about finished. Ordering deserts was met with more rudeness from her and the whole interactions tainted our evening. After a few times of visiting here we won’t be back as would feel uncomfortable with her service again.

Visited today (a Saturday) for coffee and cake with a friend. The cafe was almost empty with 2 staff working, yet it took forever for drinks to arrive. We asked for a menu and the waitress practically threw it at us. My friend ordered a fruit tea and asked that the water not be boiling hot, but she was told that the water came as it came (adding a bit of cold water before adding hot water would have sufficed). The server was quite sharp and blunt, we weren’t happy, so we left and spent our money somewhere else.

This is our favourite restaurant/pub and after three years of regular visits and superb food every time, I thought it worth a well-earned high-praise review. Apart from the occasional evening event, (they hold special themed nights from time to time), it's generally lunches we go for. The quality of the food is consistently high and the service very friendly and professional. The menu is understandably quite small, given that everything is cooked to order but seems varied enough for most tastes. Despite the high standard of cooking and produce, the prices are very competitive indeed. It does get quite busy some days despite being a bit off the beaten track, so best to book if possible. There is a large secluded back garden with seating, (where they hold their events), and a good children's play area. The building itself is still an old unspoilt country pub and serves at least two different real ale. Can't fault the Plough at all really.

Stopped in for lunch and some shopping. Tried fish n chips in cafe one with beans and other mushy peas. Very large fish, all fish unlike some the have half an inch batter on each end. Had to wait about 10 mins as cooked fresh and excellent value at £6.99 each.

Had a lovely vegan burger and watched the rugby. I really liked the decor and there was a great atmosphere.
