We were staying at the Premier Inn in Boscombe so I checked on Google maps to see if there was anywhere to eat nearby. When we saw that there was a Caribbean restaurant within walking distance we straight away went and booked a table for the following night. This was probably not necessary - the dining at Uncle Glenns is very casual, but we didn't want to miss out, having been disappointed once before at a Caribbean restaurant in Bristol which was fully booked for the 2 days that we were there. The menu is Jamaican. Ackee and saltfish, goat curry, jerk chicken, oxtail stew etc. The meal is served on a tray but unlike fast food places you get proper crockery and cutlery. I had jerk chicken and my wife had goat curry, both excellent with rice and peas and a small pot of coleslaw. I had a side of very nice fried plantain as well. My wife was pleased that the curry had bones in it (as it should do!). I had two pieces of very tasty chicken and while I was eating the owner came out with an extra piece if I wanted it - of course I wasn't going to turn it down! We washed our meal down with a Red Stripe each - had to ask for a glass, but we're not used to drinking straight out of the can. After we had a rum punch. This was not like the Bajan style rum punch that we're used to, it was spicier, maybe had ginger in it? But it was nice and finished off the meal perfectly. While we were drinking the owner came out with a sample of her ginger cake for us to try - nice, tasty and moist. The owner and staff were very friendly, the food was excellent and we really enjoyed our meal.

I popped in for a quick lunch to go and I was pleasantly greeted and welcomed. The lady who served me gave me time to choose what I'd like and explained what some of the dishes on the menu were. There was a real vibe of Carribbean soul and passion for the food they create. I ordered a Mac n' cheese which was rich, creamy, perfectly seasoned and had a lovely crumbed cheese topping, very impressed. I also ordered a patty as a side which was lightly spiced with authentic seasoning, the pastry was thin and delicious. I was also given a free Carribbean inspired sponge cake made from plantain, which was perfectly cooked, wasn't stodgy and had those lovely Carribbean spices in. I have to say I will be coming back, I am pleasantly surprised by this absolute hidden gem. Thanks guys, see you soon!

First time visiting this restaurant and just walking through the door was good enough. The smell of home cooked food was a good sign. Lovely lady served us a strong rum punch at £7.50 each while we looked at the menu. The combo was extremely good value for money curried goat, rice n peas. Coleslaw jerk chicken and plantain for £14. We also ordered fried dumplings £1 each and a delicious Mac and cheese £5.50 We were full but…because it was a birthday meal and we were given a huge slab of homemade cake with a candle on top…it would’ve been rude not to eat it! Totally recommend this place as an eat in or take away. Good food, good prices, lovely hosts.

I travel around the country and always do my best to find a carribean place to eat. Uncle Glenn’s was a jewel to find. Friendly staff and great food. I had the curry goat and jerk chicken with rice and peas, plaintain and coleslaw. Wow, it was delicious and full of flavour! Certainly up there with some of the best I have had. Took away a portion of the curry goat and rice as it was sooo good. Will defo be back when I next in the area!

This my first time at Uncle Glenns Caribbean restaurant on Christchurch Road, Boscombe, which is still quite new. We chose the ultimate plate, as they recommended it and said it had all the best options. The meal had Jerk chicken, Curried Goat, Vegetable Curry, Macaroni Pie, Salad, Plantain, coleslaw, and their own gravy. The curry goat, which is a significant dish for Caribbean people, looked darker than I expected at first glance. However, it turned out to be rich and delicious, adding a lot to the whole meal. The jerk chicken was different from what I usually have, but it had a great taste and stayed moist. Along with the flavoursome veg curry, "purple" rice and peas, plantain, macaroni pie, salad and gravy the meal was a big feast for those with a big appetite. If you a looking for a family feast and to try a range of Caribbean food that will simply delight then I cannot recommend Uncle Glenns Caribbean. My recommendation would be order as a takeaway via the usual channels or even collect. Take home spread it on the table and you will simply NOT be disappointed. If you find yourself in Bournemouth do not even think about the options other than Uncle Glenns it will be memorable. Alex was on top form and made the whole interaction so smooth and welcoming.

I really enjoyed my meal here! The staff were really warm, friendly and helpful. I had jerk chicken which was delicious and the rice was just the right balance of spicy for me. I also tried the plantain which was so nice, I’d recommend trying it if you haven’t before! I’d recommend this restaurant for a casual bite and great Carribean food.

The food and staff were fantastic. If you are looking for a swanky restaurant, this is not the place for you. If like me, you prefer good quality home cooked food that tastes great then this is a must go to place. The seating and area is rustic, the food comes out in a foil tray and it has disposable cutlery, for me that made it even better. If that's not your idea of a nice meal I would recommend trying the food as a takeaway, I doubt you will disappointed. A must try is mamma's pepper sauce, I had a bit then purchased a jar. A quick shout out to the owner here, it was lovely spending a little time talking to you after my meal. I hope you and your staff all the best in your health and business. Thanks for a great meal

The owners or staff are really hospitable. The young lady cooking and serving was really professional and efficient. With a smile too which helps. I'd never had goat before and it was really delicious. Goat's kind of like a tender, gamey mutton. The flavours in the curry were very nice indeed. I've a large appetite and found it filling so the portion sizes are generous. It's great value. A bonus was being able to walk in about 15:00 on a Friday and get food. Lots of places stop serving food at 14:00 or 14:30. I don't know whether Glenn's is usually serving at this time or if I was lucky. Just finishing off my meal with a rum fruit punch which is delicious and I think it's homemade. It's seven quid, so one of the pricier options but it is very good. It tastes stronger and nicer than a standard chain pub cocktail so when you think of it in those terms, again it's good value. Overall, this is an excellent quality, authentic, and informal eatery. Well worth the money and next time I'm back in Bournemouth I'll return. It's a shame that back in Southampton the food scene is a lot less interesting than in Bournemouth.

The total dedication to excellence in vegan cuisine, created from scratch, in-house is fully evident in all the dishes we as a family, tried. The flavours were excellent as was the presentation. If you are wanting a vegan culinary experience I doubt that there is anywhere better. Just brilliant!

Interesting choice of dishes, not run of the mill food. You will pay a premium for this. Update 2024: This place no longer exists. It shut down earlier this year.
