Came here with my sister for lunch. I had Eggs Benedict, which was really good, Would have been excellent if the eggs had been runny but the Hollandaise Sauce was delicious. Points are lost because of dirty tables, floor and cutlery and perhaps some of the staff in the kitchen could come out and remedy this issue which I see has been mentioned in other reviews, A shame because there is so much potential here - just needs someone to guide the staff a bit perhaps to make the dining experience better.

I came here with my sister for lunch today ( Wednesday 15th January). First impressions were not good. Two members of staff sat at a table talking and clearly having just finished eating. No welcome from either of them, in fact, didn't even look in our direction. I chose a table only to find it was filthy on the floor with spilt food. When looking at other tables, there was another one with food underneath it too, along with a cap top from a child's bottle of juice which would have caused an issue if anyone had slipped on it. Having ordered a latte, a tea and two jacket potatoes, our meal didn't take too long to arrive so I went to get cutlery from the centre table where all condiments were. There were five dirty forks there so I had to rummage to find two clean ones, along with knives. I mentioned to the staff that a lot of their cutlery was dirty and was told that they were having problems with their 'pot washer' and took one of the containers with the forks in the back to the kitchen. On inspection my knife was also dirty so I took that back to them and said the knives were also dirty to which I heard one member of staff say to the other 'might as well just shut the kitchen then' before taking all the cutlery into the back. Our food was already at the table so it made me wonder if there was a problem with dirty cutlery, would there be a problem with dirty plates too?.......I didn't see evidence of it to be fair. So although the staff knew there was an issue with dirty cutlery and it was evident from the state of the floor that a good clean of the place was in order, they chose to sit around a table and have a chat... I love the shop for it's goods but I won't go back to the cafe again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Dirty, dirty , dirty and staff with a poor attitude.......not my cup of tea

Workers were rude, argumentative and unapologetic. Latte first brought out and was like a milky coffee, asked to be remade and it was like a cappuccino. Avocado was starting to go brown, poached eggs were hard, bacon was fatty.

We visit here at least once a week as they do a skinny breakfast which is great for us as we do try to watch what we eat ( most of the time). As a treat we’ve also had the pancakes here and they are absolutely amazing. There is a choice of American style pancake or the traditional ones and lots of different toppings ( we love Nutella and maple syrup). The coffee here is really nice and a bonus is you have the option for skimmed milk and syrup/ sugar free syrup. The best thing about the ultimate cafe is the staff! They really are amazing! They’re all polite, happy, welcoming and even take the time to entertain our children when they’re having one of them children moments we all love so much. They even remember our order and have the coffees waiting for us now when they see us walk in, really good customer service, especially Kris and Katherine who always go out of their way to help us.

We had “the 2’s” breakfast, 2 poached eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, tomato and toast. Expensive breakfast and wasn’t impressed, burnt bits in the bacon, bacon looked like had been boiled. We had stomach aches shortly after we’d eaten it and felt sick. Wouldn’t recommend. We won’t be back.

We went to this cafe as a family today. It cost nearly £20 for 4 drinks and 3 small cakes. It was really overpriced. We were the only people in there, there were two members of staff behind the counter, yet many of the tables were dirty. We were given a really dirty tea cup so I asked for a replacement, which was all chipped. Staff weren't particularly friendly or helpful. Definitely won't be going back. It was a rip off.

Above an outdoor goods superstore the Ultimate cafe has a lot to live up to. Came here as the nearby Marks & Spencer Cafe was full. This place was empty, devoid of any atmosphere. It seems to specialise in sweets, ice creams, milkshakes and cakes plus simple cooked dishes such a spuds, sandwiches and pancakes. Very much for the younger set and for families. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. There is a menu on the table and on the boards behind the counter with a nice selection of seemingly homemade snacks and cakes. I have been a couple of times before to kill time, this time just came for a quick meal. Went for their poached eggs on avocado. Didn't take that long to arrive (there was only one other customer there) and was perfectly adequate. The eggs were runny but why cook them in a mold - can't they cook a proper poached egg? I don't think the bread was toasted and the side salad was half-hearted. Quite average. I must admit the tea was lovely. Loose leaf in a cafetiere which looked great. Plus marks for the tea and the cakes. Minus for value and atmosphere. Not sure if there was Wi-Fi, I couldn't pick anything up. Lots of free parking (if you can get into the Deepdale retail park on a busy weekday!) I'm just miffed they call it Ultimate when what I had was average with very average service (no smiles at all here!)

It was my friends suggestion to go to the cafe, I couldn’t quite imagine that the cafe that we discovered, was located in the go outdoors shop on the retail park. Once we had taken our seat and checked out the desert menu ... we were just spoiled for choice ..... the desert menu was wow...... amazing waffles, super shakes and sundaes ... just delicious. We couldn’t choose, they all looked delicious so we had to order a few things so we could have a taste of each. We were definitely not disappointed. Whilst eating and chatting, we looked over ther other menus that were on offer, healthy vegetarian salads which looked very very tempting together with other items like bagels and breakfasts. So it means there will definitely be another visit to go in the diary

Seemed to be short of staff took ages to order then coffee with creme on top overfilled and creme and coffee spilling all over the side of the cup, was given a dirty spoon which I did not use, Tea cake then arrived with a dirty knife. I waited at the counter for some one to notice I was there only one person being served, asked for a clean knife was given one. Went to open the butter which was too hard to spread, and then discovered the tea cake was hard Decided to leave at this point a waste of £5.75 will not be returning.

My wife & I were in Deepdate Shopping Park today at lunch time so we decided to try the cafe in the Ultimate Outdoors shop. We went in at almost exactly 1.00pm and it looked quite busy though no customer was at the service area. We sat down and looked at the overly comprehensive menu. We decided on Cheese & Chili over chips for myself, and a Pulled Pork Wrap for my wife, I went to the till and ordered the above plus two strong coffees, this was (according to my till receipt) at 1.09pm. I Paid the bill of £20.65 which seemed a lot to me and I took the coffees back to our table. At 1.35pm I was getting a bit twitchy about what I considered slow service, before 1.40pm my wife's food arrived but mine did not! The food was well presented but was certainly not what either of us would call a hot meal. My food arrived 2/3 minutes later and was tasty but was lacking in heat also.

This was my first visit to this cafe since the bookshop turned into an outdoor clothing shop! It was decorated for Halloween, the staff were all dressed up and some of the cakes were gruesomely themed - an impressive commitment to the cause! We chose a booth type table but there was a range of seating options and the tables didn't feel too crammed together. There were colouring/puzzle books and crayons available for children. The menu is interesting with a variety of dishes. Lots of all-day breakfast items, toasties, salads and jacket potatoes. We had eggs Benedict, a cheese toastie, a Diet Coke and a pot of mint tea. Everything was tasty and well presented. The bill came to around £15. They do discounts for NHS Staff and HM forces staff on presentation of ID. This was a good place to stop for lunch. Would definitely come back next time I'm at Deepdale.

My wife and I called into this restaurant at lunchtime today - it is above the 'Ultimate Outdoors' store on the Deepdale Retail Park which seemed an odd place for a cafe. It was fairly quiet when we arrived so we had no trouble getting a table and our order was taken very quickly. Staff were friendly, helpful and cheerful. We both ordered Earl Grey Tea - which was quickly served prior to our meals arriving - and to our delight it was REAL tea in a tea infuser, not simply a cup with a 'tea bag' in hot water. Great start to our first visit. My meal arrived first - 'all the twos' all day breakfast (two POACHED eggs, two lovely sausage, two slices of perfectly cooked bacon, baked beans and a slice of toast). I confess I had expected the usual 'department store' ready cooked and each item allowed to dry under a hot plate type of breakfast but instead what I got was all freshly cooked, quality food, and delicious. My wife had ordered a waffle with blueberries, strawberries and maple syrup and this arrived at our table shortly after my meal. As we ordered our meals my wife had said 'the usual' - "I am not very hungry so will you eat what I leave?" As usual I happily agreed. However, I was very disappointed because, hungry or not, she cleared her plate and declared her waffle "delicious". All in all a very pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable lunch and we will certainly visit again when in Preston.

The menu looks promising that's why i kinda dragged myself to this cafe.I haven't tried the american pancakes, waffles or milkshakes.. but i think i will soon as they look good in the photos.. i think they cost from £5 something if i'm not wrong.. not sure about the serving if it's good for two people or just one.Anyways i ate the all 2's breakfast. It was OK for me altho the bacon was overcooked and i couldn't eat it as it was rock hard. On the other hand I enjoyed my green tea, it was lovely. And based on the reviews i have read, yes there were some stains from the utensils which could be from the dishwasher really, IF ever they are using one.. not sureProbably i'd visit here again if staff would be more hospitable and smiley.

We popped in for lunch as we didn't fancy junk food (pizza hut, gregs, KFC, nandos). It was pretty busy and despite the odd uncleared table it looked nice. Sadly the food was awful, not to mention the dirty cutlery, no knives, only teaspoons and my tea cup had stains in. I had chicken soup and a egg mayonnaise sandwhich. My fiance had meat feast panini (bacon, sausage and cheeese). It all looked well presented but the bacon and sausage looked like they had been steamed. There was no evidence of then touching a frying pan or grill! They were also only luke warm. My soup on the other hand was nice and hot and the broth was very tastey if not a bit salty. However the chicken and carrot chunks looked good but disintegrated in my mouth. Me thinks it has been zapped on the microwave for too long! Over all very disappointing especially seeing as it's one of the only cafes on the whole retail park. Found out after M&S have cafe, I'll be going there next time.

No options shown on menu board above counter so despite being unaware there is a choice you are charged for a Large Latte or whatever. You have to specify when ordering that you want a Regular to prevent this happening. As there is no easily read information at the counter, staff should point out there is a choice. I felt ripped off after getting a Large drink which was not wanted and being charged £5.10 for two drinks. Won't be back.

I heard good things about the Ultimate Cafe, found upstairs in an outdoor wear shop on the retail park at Deepdale, Preston. It is in the old Borders bookshop if you remember that (sad loss). When you are calling yourself the 'ultimate' anything you must be setting yourself up for a fall. I had to find out. It's a small compact modern looking eaterie offering basic snacks and drinks. They specialise in pancakes (which used to be an old fashioned thing - pancake houses were big in the sixties & seventies) and locally sourced ingredients. On this visit I didn't go for a pancake but tried something from their 'all day breakfast' menu.I like Eggs Benedict so went for that. What could go wrong? After struggling to order from the till girl, who looked all of 15 years old, and couldn't work the card machine or take a simple order (not her fault, not trained properly?) I paid up front for the food and a coffee.Didn't take too long for the food to arrive when it eventually reached me having gone all around the room taken on its travels by the clueless till girl via several other tables even though I clearly said to her I was sat at table one.Eggs Benedict. A dish that consists of two halves of an English muffin, topped with ham, bacon or salmon, poached eggs, and Hollandaise sauce. At Ultimate Cafe you to pay EXTRA for the ham or salmon (so how could they call it Eggs Benedict without these things?) Anyway, its simple to cook so lets try it.Came on an oblong plate with two bagels, an undressed side salad and inextricably, a handful of salty nachos. The poached eggs were awful. Overdone and looked they had been cooked in a mould judging by the shape. Eggs Benedict eggs should be runny, not rubber. I mean, what cook cannot poach an egg? I could make a joke that I dropped an egg on the floor but it bounced right back onto the plate. But I wont. The yokes were a joke and the Hollandaise? More akin to salad cream. And who wants to eat salmon and salad cream on the same plate. I I left most of it. It cost almost £7.I also bought a regular cappuccino but was disappointed by the small size of the 'regular' cups. Three good gulps and it was gone. £2.20 well spent? No.To add insult to injury a fellow customer had a stand up argument with a waitress right next to my table where she complained about the quality and lack of cooking skills with her breakfast (primarily the ability to heat things up) and said she would not pay for her and her partners meals. After a short delay the waitress said they would refund only one meal prompting the diners to walk out stating they would never return. I had only been in the place 30 minutes. How bad could it get? As I sat there I could hear the staff laughing at the customers as they left. I cringed. This was really, really bad. Anyway, I hear the pancakes are good.
