TY-8 in Thanet

We booked a table for six ,celebrating my birthday, we were half hours late ,due to lot of road work in the Thanet area ,I live in Herne bay ,they had ours numbers ,but day took another booking ,at the time we got there there was only to table. We had two children ,and we wouldn’t stay late , We been there before , never again , I worked 25 years in restaurants in London.and we are not happy at all

Apart from the difficulty in parking (not their fault!) this was excellent. They do a 'all-you-can-eat' deal for around £25 which is great value for money. We simply stayed with a couple of rounds of the starters - barbecue ribs, seaweed, satay chicken, crispy duck pancakes, spring roll - having eaten too well the night before and in the morning, but still feel we had good value. Food very well presented and delicately prepared. The satay sauce with the chicken was fantastic. They offer to make anything more - or less - hot and spicy as you feel you need. Very friendly and helpful staff; small glitch with our booking in that they didn't have the table requested. Definitely a place to return to when we are next down there. They don't open Mon/Tue/Wed.

my wife found this restaurant online as she was looking for a Good vegan Asian restaurant. This place had great reviews so we tried it out. it didn’t disappoint. The food was fantastic and it was very friendly service. It’s hard to find food of this quality even in large cities, so Margate should consider themselves very lucky indeed! The only downside was that we walked past it twice as the restaurant’s front was very poorly lit! They were most helpful when we rang though and offered to come out and get us if we missed it again. Highly recommend! 😊

We have been coming to TY8 for many years mainly due to the lovely food and choice. This is the 1st time we have been back for a while. We were quite shocked at how much the prices had gone up, nearly £28 a head for a Saturday night, which makes this quite an expensive meal. The food was lovely as normal but we did not feel we had value for money and although the starter choices were good, we felt the mains had been reduced quite a lot. I'm sorry to say we will not be returning, just too expensive.

Never a let down food and service always excellent great selection of food although price has gone up like everything else still good value

When we arrived service was rushed. Lady was very pushy on making a decision quick about what we wanted to eat. We also had a large booking to which we all didn’t want all you can eat but got told we had to have it. So was expensive for some even when we didn’t want it. We also when ordered drinks the waitress started poring our remaining drinks into our glasses which I found very rude. Was all in all very rushed and no thank you or pleases didn’t even give us time to breathe upon our courses! Towards the end we all overpayed and there was still £5 that we owed but we didn’t there was a extra drink on and we tried to debate but wasn’t listened to. Would go again.

The worst meal we have had in a long time , everything very dry for that price should be perfect, staff did nothing about it when we complained, will never go back , they dismissed our complaint don’t waste your money

You'd be forgiven for thinking that this place was just another fast food place. We ate great tasting quality vegan food for a reasonable price. We ordered a la carte, but there is an "Asian Adventure " option to eat all you want. These dishes are freshly cooked to order, and no take away boxes! The staff were helpful with a food allergy too. Don't miss out!

Although the prices have gone up quite a lot, the food is still very tasty. We ordered lots of starters and the fact you can ask for individual portions is amazing. My partner doesn't like fish so I could order prawn tempura for one (which i recommend.) Service great and atmosphere was nice. Also recommend salt and pepper beancurd..

Food was terrible, everything was dry and over cooked. So being pregnant I mentioned it as we go there all the time and the food is usually amazing, the lady was very rude and said we were wasting her food on purpose and that we should get out. If you like buffet diners, but do not like to queue and serve yourself., then Ty8 is the perfect location. Table service, and delicious Thai food,at a very reasonable price.

Visited on a Thursday night and really enjoyed our meal. Particularly the Mussels in Blackbean and Char Sui Pork, all the dishes were of a good size and we didn't have a bad dish. The service was efficient and friendly. Not the cheapest place to eat in the area but good value if your hungry as its eat as much as you want. Will definitely return. Thank you.

Food is lovely but it has now become to expensive, understand everything has become more expensive but salaries haven't gone up. I was surprised that the place was not full a Thursday evening/night.

Absolutely love this place. Absolutely love the lady who serves us (feel really bad that I don't know her name as she deserves full credit) and absolutely love the food. This has become the only place I go to now for Asian food. Its not even local to me. There is probably over double figured amount of other places that are nearer to me but none of which come close in satisfaction level. Plenty of vegan options.

We had a wonderful meal at TY-8 last night. The food was beyond stunning. The service was perfect and friendly too. The general ambience of the restaurant was great with dinners chatter and laughter. First time visit but booked a table. Just as well because the restaurant was packed. We thought there may be a wait for our food but not so. We were welcomely greeted when we entered and shown to our table. We settled for a bottle of wine and made our choice from a large choice of starters and within minutes we were enjoying some of the best Chinese food we have ever had. The set price for as much as you can eat menu is so good. Another test of different starters followed with a main course and more wine saw us very pleased with all we ate and will see us returning shortly. Well done TY 8 keep up the good work. As we left we had hand shakes from the staff and welcomed us to return.

Had a superb meal at TY-8. The menu is "Eat as much as you like" for a very reasonable set price. The menu is very varied so there is plenty to chose from. We chose a selection of around six starters and they were stunning as were the duck in pancakes and the main courses. This was the best Chinese food we have had for a very long time. The staff are friendly and cannot do enough to enhance the dining experience. The restaurant was full so there was a great buzz to the atmosphere. Thank you TY-8 we had a smashing evening. We will be back very soon.

Lunch at the Cinqueports, excellent food, prompt service and very friendly staff. Would recommend Mondays as it's quieter.

What a lovely place this is. Walked in without booking beforehand and accommodated straight away. Was quiet when we arrived but got busy really quickly. Despite this the lone waitress ran around looking after everyone and had the biggest smile on her face throughout. The food was to die for and the service was amazing. This restaurant was very disabled friendly as my partner is in a wheelchair and had no problems being accommodated. Not sure about toilet access though as he didn't require them at the time. All in all a great place so thanks Ty 8

I recently went to TY8 with my husband, sister and her partner.

The staff here work very hard to ensure everyone is looked after and served well. Very good Tai menu with a eat as much as you like option. Superb value. Much nicer inside than the Northdown Road location suggests.

Great value Chinese eating at a fixed price of £15.95 for as many main meals as you wish to try. Fast and friendly service and the food was outstanding too. Just perfect eating. You will love it too I'm sure.

Went with family for a birthday meal. There was 16 of us and the restaurant coped so well with bringing out all the food and getting our choices right. The restaurant looks small from outside but that is deceiving. The food was lovely and the portion sizes were generous. Would definitely recommend.

After several years of visiting, this is about the only restaurant I will keep coming back to unless something seriously changes for the worst! I'm Vegan and within the last few months, they've acknowledged Veganism and made a point of it on their menu so just let them know and they'll adjust dishes accordingly. The menu is extensive with Meat and Veggies and I've tried most of the Veggie dishes on the menu and most of which I like and some aren't to my taste. We always return and bring new people with us and actually have to stop ourselves coming because there's an awful lot of food to be eaten and spending £19 each on eating out must be an occasional treat, otherwise we'd be here every Week! Plus the service is excellent and one particular waitress makes our visit very enjoyable every time!

Myself and partner visited on the 8th August as his birthday meal, we didn't book but was still accommodated, we had a lovely night the staff where happy and friendly. The food was amazing we was sat in for almost 3 hours with no sense of needing to rush like most places. If we return to margate we will definitely be returning. Well worth the money

The lady who welcomed us couldn't have been nicer and the eat-as-much-as-you like formula was very good value but only if you like fried food and sweet sauces (which came in little bowls but which were the same ones you buy ready made in the supermarket). My grandson would have loved it, but it wasn't for us : everything has MSG in it, (which meant I couldn't have soups sauces other than soy. The seaweed option which looked interesting was actually very sugary . The tofu had a surprisingly interesting texture but again the sauce was over sweet. I'm really sad to give this place a bad rating but better to know if you're vegetarian and MSG intolerant or just deep fried intolerant to keep away.

The restaurant holds a deal for each week day, weekends usually being a couple pound more £££. The owners and chief all have a friendly, happy, calm temperament about their job and customer care & feedback. Couldn’t of had a well cooked beginner and main for a reasonable price or £17.50 a head! All in all I loved the passion put into the food and the nice traditional decor with dedicated staff. 5⭐️ from me!

My favourite eating places in Thanet are TY-8 and Pan and its not just because I like Thai food. I think these 2 set the standard with a wonderful combination of sublime food, friendliness and affordability. I recommend the fishcakes at this lovely (but a little out of the way) restaurant. The choice of dishes is huge.

This was our first visit. And won’t be our last the staff were very attentive and polite the dishes were all very nice and well cooked. Air conditioned and comfortable seating. All in all. No problems. Only adverse comment is: toilets are upstairs. So people with disabilities would have a problem. We will recommend and look forward to returning.

This restaurant is my favourite place to eat! From the amazing, delicious menu that has more vegan options that you could possibly try in one visit to the faultless customer service. This family run restaurant gets 5 stars from me and that's why we keep going back again and again! The vegan chilli shredded beef is to die for and tastes just like the real thing!

We were recommended to try this restaurant with an eat as much as you like menu. Very friendly staff who take your order course by course so you can repeat dishes or move on to next level. Portions are not enormous but as there are 120 dishes all freshly cooked as you go you will not leave hungry.

I have never tried this place until last night, dont know why as been missing out. The staff were very friendly. Intimate when busy as quite small area but cosy, felt relaxed, no rush. The Ty-8 in Cliftonville is by far the best Ty restaurant I have eaten in. As a vegetarian, I rarely find restaurants with such a huge range of vegetarian food! But there is so much choice, all of which is delicious!

Great buffet selection, which you can access whenever you want. Food is basic but we'll cooked and delicious. Usually full so we'll worth booking. Very reasonably priced.

I live fairly local to this restaurant and have been waiting for a chance to take some friends here - and now I have. We were unaware that this was a fixed-price all-you-can-eat restaurant, and this was a pleasant surprise as we are all adventurous eaters! The service was very good, as was the food and the only thing that lets it down is the exterior condition. We will definitely be going back!

although the exterior of the restaurant is a bit shabby - the service and food is consistently good, A lot of the starters are deep fried but the secret is not to have too many to leave room for the other excellent courses. There is a choice of soups. duck pancakes, a selection of rices and noodles and a good variety of choices of mains.

Visited with family and young children for a weekend dinner. The setting is small and basic, in need of a little love and definitely a new carpet!Good value food, all you can eat, no puddings, for £15.95. Drinks though were small bottles and extremely expensive. Wine was averagely priced. The starters are mostly deep friend, as very greasy, I'd give these a miss if I were you and go straight into the duck, which was quite good. Mains were much better, ling mong lamb was an especially nice surprise! Quality of the rice varies from bowl to bowl!To summarise, if you have to have Chinese food it's ok but don't except to be balled over.

We placed a deposit to book our seat which we were told would be deducted of our bill only no one deducted it and then we argued that we had paid this in the first place. The food is cheap like the carpet and smelly, it is a great place to take your dogs but not to eat food. Thank goodness its for sale

Visited with friends who live locally and had booked Saturday evening. Very busy but super efficient service and a variety of well priced and tasty meals. This is buffet style eating but being served at your table creates much more of a pleasant atmosphere and avoids the poor experience everything in large silver pans with hot lights on top. A bit of theater in the room as plates come out as well. All the favorites you would expect with a few nice surprises thrown in. Overall a very good evening for a good price.

A set price menu and great food and service. You can not ask for more, but worth booking as it gets very busy. As all good things come to an end, unfortunately the building the Ty 8 is in is up for sale.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by luck as we were going to see Jimmy Carr at the Winter Gardens as it is only a 5-10 minute walk away.They offer an all you can eat menu consisting of Thai, Malaysian and Chinese dishes. We had a great meal at a very reasonable price and the waiters and waitresses were very helpful and polite.We will definitely go back and spend a bit more time as we were in a bit of a rush

Wonderful evening, glorious menu choice and had out fill. In fact the starters filled us up so did not venture much further. Quality of food first class, staff very efficient, very attentive and very clean establishment. Have been before. Thought the pricing very reasonable. Certainly use again.

Me and my husband had a rare night out and decided to eat at TY8 as we remembered the crispy duck the last time we were there. I have to say the service and the food is the best around by far for value for money. The soups are amazing and the flavours are fab. Great value for money.

This place doesn't look much from the outside but inside is clean and well presented. It is an eat as much as you like restaurant but each course is cooked up fresh for you. I have been here before and the food is consistently good. The serving staff are efficient and friendly.

We recently had a meal for a family birthday. It turned out to be a great choice. The menu is fixed at an "all you can eat" price. Our food was very hot, very tasty, and very plentiful. Be careful not to order too many starters or you might be charged extra if there's too much remaining, but there's no need as you can ask for extra as you are eating. We will definitely be going back.

Seven of us went there last night and really enjoyed it. The food was excellent and so was the service. The prawn crackers are amazing (they even gave me a bag to bring home along with a tub of sweet chilli dip) would thoroughly recommend it to anyone if you are in Margate. Can't wait for the next visit

Really pleasant surprise visiting this restaurant over the weekend. Had said about trying it for ages as my partner has been previously and loved it but I was a bit judgemental from looking outside. I am so glad we went though as the menu is extensive, really good portions (I had to ask them to make them smaller), great VEGETARIAN options using mock duck and pork which was excellent, great value, decent service by both wait and waitress staff members, food comes out quickly and I was pleased with everything I tried (and that was a lot) except the vegetarian black bean which wasn't at all to my tastes but everything else was excellent, and I particularly enjoyed the vegetarian satay skewers, seaweed and vegetarian mock duck pancakes were yum and a great alternative for veggies! I cannot wait to go back and try some more dishes!

Visited with a family member who had it recommended to them. There recommendation wasn't wrong the food is amazing I have never eaten so much and honestly did not want the food to end.

This restaurant does the usual eat as much offer done by so many restaurants these days, but there's no chance you will. The food is excellent, beautifully cooked and so filling we have yet to get onto the main menu after the wide choice of starters and duck and lamb for the supposed mid-course. Beautifully cooked and presented, the sfatt are friendly and welcoming and I could not recommend this highly enough. Make sure you book, very popular!

Set menus are a complete bargain. Love the food here. Staff can come across as a bit stern and not the most happiest but the food totally outweighs this.
