had a family meet up for evening meal. Lovely old english pub, cosy and very welcoming. Lovely traditional pub food well presented, tasty with lovely service the ladies serving us were lovely , chatty and friendly and this pub welcomes dogs of which we had 2, doggie treats given. Loved it and will be returning for sure.

If I could have a roast dinner not cooked by myself that was the best dinner, it would be here. Just such a beautiful place to eat, simply because the food was like my own.

We went as a family of 8 and all had a lovely meal. Very good traditional food. Pub grub done well. The chips were very nice. I can't definitely recommend the steak and ale pie and fish and chips. Others in our party had the gammon which also looked delicious and the steak. Very cosy inside and friendly service. They were helpful with my partner's nut allergy. Plenty of free car parking. We will definitely try again.

Very friendly pub, the food was very good. It was open mic night when we were there, which made it a busy mid week night, which helped the general atmosphere.

Family gathering here again superb food (love the chips) served with good hot meals even though there was a lot of us ( if a big party I recommend email an idea of foods and requirements before so chefs have an idea) staff looked after us all well hopefully be back in 18 months for the next milestone birthday party

This is the 2nd visit for my husband and I. We came here to celebrate my husbands 60th, we are from coventry but staying for 2 wks. There are not enough stars for this pub. The food, especially the lasagna and the beef and ale pie are exceptional. The staff are fabulous, very, very friendly, the service is excellent

Really friendly and welcoming pub. Food is freshly prepared and homemade . Been twice and both times had specials which tasted amazing. The staff are all really friendly and provide an excellent service. Love the decor and feel of the place. It can get busy so worth booking. Can't recommend this place enough

A lovely tradition pub with plenty of character and a great selection of local ales and beers. The staff were lovely, friendly and very welcoming as well as knowledgeable about their selection of drinks on offer. A special shout out to Berty on the bar who was very attentive and helpful during my visit. There is plenty of parking at the rear of the pub as well. Definitely worth a stop for a drink if going past.

Went in for lunch, sat at table, ordered drinks and then ordered food, we waited 30mins for our food, gravy was very watery, parsnips were small and burnt, loads of roasters, stuffing was lovely, we asked not to have cauliflower cheese so had a little bit more veg, not much taste, we will not go back, shame really, it was a nice place.

Beer good food good. Beer garden very good on a sunny evening. Note there's different menus for inside or outside. Parking at the rear.

An incredible old world Devon pub, a fantastic place to go for a Sunday roast and a few pints. The staff are super friendly, the food is gorgeous and there's a beautiful view in the beer garden out back (well all about really!) and live music to boot 😁

Absolutely love this place. No airs, no graces, just a cracking pub that's friendly and welcoming, and that just happens to do fantastic pub grub as well. Particularly recommend the steak and kidney pudding although the liver and onions and the ham, egg, and chips are pretty special too

We love visiting this pub when we are in the area, sometimes lunch times but mainly in the evening the food is always delicious great value and the service very friendly and welcoming. Would not hesitate to recommend and will definitely be visiting again. There are always local people in there which shows how wonderful it is.

Avoid. I ordered the chicken burger with extra brie and bacon. This however ended up being 3 goujons in a bun, with non melted brie and flacid bacon. Not impressed, would not recommend. Much better places in the local area to choose from. A real shame as the pub itself is old, and has a real charm, severely let down with a poor menu, and execution of said poor menu.

Ordered the Panko breaded chicken burger at £17 I asked for Brie instead of the Monterey Jack cheese, which they did. But on arrival of said burger we were greeted with 3 chicken goujons in a bun. Really over priced for what it was and nothing special for a meal. When you order a chicken burger you at least expect one bit of meat, not three poxy chicken pieces. Could have at least butterflied a chicken breast and given us half of that. I don’t know what place would think of serving this and not a burger. We also had a banana split, pretty rubbish for the dessert. No whipped cream, served with rock hard clotted cream. Won’t be back anytime soon.

Called in at lunch time on the off chance and was lucky enough to get the last available table. My partner had the steak pie and I had the fish pie and whilst we did have a bit of a wait it was well worth it. My fish pie was delicious and my partner who is one of the fussiest eaters ever announced his pie to be the best he had ever had ! Would heartily recommend and will certainly be going back.

7 of us booked a meal here last Saturday, a treat for my mum and we were all very impressed. 5 different mains, all cooked fresh, hot and tasty. Service was fantastic, nothing too much trouble. I think this will be our new "go to" place. Highly recommend!!!!

Gorgeous 'real' pub, lovely welcoming atmosphere, very friendly staff, food was freshly cooked and yummy. Dogs were welcomed too. Would definitely recommend.

Warm and friendly welcome. Excellent Otter Ale promptly served! Good selection of pub standards on the menu. A pleasant surprise was several menu items were available as smaller portions. A very nice thing to see. Food was well prepared and of good quality. Enjoyable meal. Would certainly return.

Great food! Some of their dishes have 2 sizes. The smallest size in plenty for most people! Lots of proper homemade choices as well.

Can't fault the staff are very polite and friendly, lovely looking pub but can't say the same for our two meals which got sent back immediately as lasagne was tasteless and chill con was absolutely awful

We have always come here for our annual family pre Xmas Dinner. Very disappointed. Portions tiny compared to other years. Felt like they were rushing us to get out, with waiting staff practically pouncing as soon as we'd finished a course. Desert still frozen. Shame but will not be returning, will book elsewhere next time.

Went there for a Christmas Dinner, my daughter order the cheesecake of the Christmas menu and it came out frozen. Roast turkey was lovely, a bit disappointed with 1 pigs in blanket and seasonal veg was sprout carrots and French beans. A friend had breaded camembert and there was no cheese in the middle

The food was amazing. Home made lasagne. We got vouchers to go back too. Nice pint 👌

Staff great but food let it down I had the Sunday roast beef cauliflower cheese was the best thing on the plate where the things that should have been the stars of the show beef and potatoes the beef was severely over cooked and the potatoes whilst brown on the outside were so undercooked on the inside they were rock hard think the chef must have fallen out of love with cooking

We took our friends from Portsmouth for meal on Friday lunchtime, everyone was very impressed with the food, service could have been a bit better as we had a long wait between courses, and the prices. A nice time was had by all.

We have our weekly office meetings here and they have ale in a barrel which is cracking! Lovely building and easy to find and get too. Never eaten here but the food smells incredible

Excellent food, great price and lovely location. We really enjoyed our visit here. The only downside was it took over 75 minutes to get our food. We politely asked how much longer and the young lad who works there (dark hair, tall , aged about 17) was so rude to us! Raising his voice and saying we are busy and you are a larger party. There were seven of us and we had been waiting a long, long time. However, when they brought our food out the older members of staff were very apologetic and the meal was lovely.

Nice pub. With a good amount of drinks to choose from. I have had food there before which was great. I shall pop back some time soon.

Tried this place for the first time on Saturday. The restaurant is in the oldest part of the building with its old stone walls, wooden beams and decor to suit. Due to the age of the building the restaurant was a little warm but not stifling. The food was lovely with good sized portions. The staff were attentive and were able to answer any questions we had. Service was prompt even though the restaurant was busy.

On holiday, celebrating hubbies birthday. Thought we would try this pub.

Great local pub with good food and selection of beers and lagers , outside seating is very well laid out and a great view over Dartmoor. Well worth a visit if you are in the area of Newton abbot or Totnes.

Lovely outdoor area. Only went for a drink on the way home so can't comment fully on the place.
