Worst apple pie I've ever eaten...so disappointed, looked lovely but tasted awful, can only describe as pork pie pastry and unsweetened apple, was tasteless and hard...yuck!!...whole family was disappointed

Can’t fault the food, the service and the seaside experience. This place has the best ice cream and pasties! We can’t not pay a visit to the creamery when we are here and stock up on the array of pasties and have one of their gorgeous clotted cream ice creams. Thank you for yet another lovely visit.

We found it very odd that a shop selling fresh cakes , pies and pastries was displayed in a window without any covers over them or any refrigeration. There were flies about and this put us right off buying anything in there. This surely has to be a breach of food hygiene ?

What a gem of a place. They serve a brilliant variety of cakes and savouries. Not only is the food here delicious, it is also very fairly priced. The staff are also very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend.

Loved the variety of pasties could buy. Only rating it 4 not 5 because I nearly bought the whole shop.

What an emporium of delights! We went in looking for a couple of gifts and came out with an overflowing bag full of goodies to take home for ourselves and others! There were chutneys, honey, marmalade, scones, fresh bread, biscuits, pastries, cakes, sausage rolls etc. etc. etc. Staff were very friendly and super efficient. You must visit- you will not be disappointed!

My favourite place in Dawlish. Their icecreams are the best, especially with clotted cream. If you visit i recommend the cherry pie and carrot cake. Just the best ever

We visited this place on our Cornwall road trip, and I'm glad we did. I haven't seen such an amazing choice of cakes and pasties in a long time. Everything in the shop looks so delicious. I felt so overwhelmed that it was hard to choose just one of the cakes on offer in this shop. 🤭 In the end, we got some scones, an apple pie, and a coffee cake. Each was better than the last, so moist and fluffy. We will definitely be returning. Dog-friendly as well ❤️ #travelwithtentbox

We've been coming to Gay's for over 36 years, and usually, we visit twice a year. Food quality is normally spot on & always tasty. This time, we were left very disappointed & our holiday treat of a cream tea was an anticlimax, to say the least. The quiche & breakfast pie were both delicious and complaints there. The cream tea was very disappointing. The first of four scones literally crumbled in my hand just by picking it up,before I even had chance to use a knife. It was pretty much a hollow scone with no inside. 2 more scones broke into crumbling pieces,it was hard work to get the jam & the cream to stay put without the scones breaking apart further. The final scone was microwaved for 20 seconds & actually cut as it should & stayed intact whilst eating. At £5.50 we did feel disappointed & our usual holiday treat was definitely one we'd rather forget, we will still come back to Gay's but possibly give the iconic cream tea a miss in future unless we get fresh scones

I visit Gays Creamery everytime I am in Devon visiting family, lovely friendly staff, never had an issue, all the food is good, we often take extra pasties home & freeze to have at a later date, wouldn't miss a visit here

We visited gays on Saturday, we love to visits Dawlish and walk through the park, purchase a pasty and enjoy the sunshine. The young staff are excellent, the selection great and the prices are reasonable. Usual choice of pasties - lamb and mint and a steak pastie. Disappointed with the steak pastie today, over cooked and dry. Lamb and mint pastie was lovely. Well worth a visits when in Dawlish,

Cakes was delicious, no pick as I couldn't wait to get stuck in my massive slice of coffee cake.

Went to Gays creamery with my daughter and son in law on holiday, the staff are lovely the food is fantastic, it's a very busy shop but service is great so didn't have to wait long lots buy at very good prices would definitely recommend a visit

Amazing service and truly beautiful food. I would recommend this to anyone who visits Dawlish. Brought home cream teas for family and they have all provided me with raving reviews how light and fluffy the scones were and how beautifully they tasted. The cherry pie is to die for and my partner said that the cheese pigs and breakfast pie was out of this world. We will be returning when we have our next trip to Dawlish.

Another hardy annual for us, cream tea by the river. I like that the staff process your order and payment in the queue so that you are never stuck behind someone with a big complex order.

Jam packed (pardon the punn) with gifts and food. The shop is busy busy all day. The pastries are nice, the cakes are huge and not overtly sickly. Great place for all your South Devon fudge

A brilliant and bustling place full of delicious foods and other things. Lovely, friendly staff. It's in a really nice area, too - buy a pie here and sit outside and watch the ducks!

Great food, the staff can be a little punchy due to a very busy shop. They need to slow down a bit., give people a chance to see all the different foods available.

Legendary icecream pasties and cake

Been coming for years to get a special (ice cream with a flake and clotted cream on top!) Which tastes just as good as it aways did and is a highlight of visiting dawlish. However having the cakes and pastries etc out on tables next to the queue with no counter protection really puts me off. One sneeze and its all over the food. Please put the food behind some sort of counter! My husband was brave and tried a cheese and bacon croissant, but found it dry (probably been sat out a while!) And he thought it would be warm... it wasn't. Would return for the ice cream but nothing else that been sat out in the queue for goodness knows how long 🙈

Amazing, pasties, cakes, ice cream.

Love visiting Gays whenever we are in Dawlish, always pick up some cake to take home. We also grab some duck food and feed the ducks and geese, and the odd pigeon that gather around. A large range of pasties, savoury eats, cakes, biscuits and cream teas and fudge which we also take home for our pet sitter. Always great service too, sometimes a little cramped when its very busy.

Lemon cake - £2.75 a piece ( it is a large piece) but very dry and the topping was sickly sweet . Don’t bother buying their duck food - it’s just a bag of cheap oats . Very disappointing

Service and shop amazing and great products (very different) bought a few bits and the reason for an overall one star is simple (Dawlish rock made in china) really... Didn't even think this was possible... Shame on you for importing sticks of rock...

We hit this place twice whilst in Dawlish, personally it doesn't fail to deliver, lovely thick Devon ice cream and chocolate flake, what more could you want on a hot day. We even managed to get one of their packaged cream teas home, and it tasted great.

Very popular place.But poor hygiene when it comes to public being so close to freshly cooked food as shown in the picture. My bad experience was people coughing and sneezing quite close to this food and seeing flies near the food. I then came out the queue as I got put off.

We stopped here for a treat before going round to look at the birds in Dawlish and then going to see one of the train specials coming through Dawlish. The ice creams are the best ice creams and look forward to tasting one again next year.

Staff are so friendly and very helpful, food is outstanding quality and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend and the tables by the water are an added bonus.

The scones are incredible and come with the clotted cream and jam for a very reasonable price £3.50 (2 fresh scones). There is a queue for the shop, which shows how great it is! There is also a seating area near the stream. I strongly recommend!
