Very good ice cream place. Not usually crowded. Best Devon ice cream in the world, across from the black swans and ducks.

Always busy, never disappoints and I'm sire their Specialty Ice cream cone, with clotted cream and a flake, is getting BIGGER!!!!

Every year we have to walk to dawlish from the warren and o only do it to visit this place. We have had a photo outside here with us as children, our children now our grandchildren. I just love the BIG special icecream .. £4.00 who knew clotted cream was meant to be on a icecream and they aren’t stingy either it’s huge .. we got a beef and silton pasty and a lamb and mint tray of clotted cream scones and some rock and toys and the obligatory gays merchandise ;-) this year we brought a red pen Don’t forget to sit on the park benches and watch the black swans and her babies watch out for seagulls ..

I call in here as much as I can while I'm away, too many to nice things to choose from but I would recommend all the pasties and pies, cream teas and wine, gin, jams and pickles. Staff are lovely too 😋

Sells a very good selection of takeaway food, of which you can cross the road and eat at the tables next to the river. We selected a range of baps, pasties, cake and a takeaway clotted cream & scones, for which staff provided a disposable knife. Inside, there is also a range of edible gifts and local ales.

I got hailed on and was soaked while eating this ice cream, and I can still say that I had a smile from ear to ear. I've eaten ice cream all around the globe and this is now my favorite. One flavour, no fuss, and well priced. Airy and wonderful. I also had the best chicken and mushroom (in white sauce) pie I've ever had and even bought an apple one to go. Cute and wonderful products. Fair price. Great service. Fast moving line. They even have seating with a great view of the river. Worth a trip to Dawlish all by itself.

Cakes and pies amazing but the hunts Devon cider is even better!! The queue is normally out the door it's that popular!

Each time I eat the pastries here I feel like going in for more☺️lovely homemade bakery, excellent service too.

Just love their takeaway Devon Cream Tea. We also recommend their lamb & mint pasty & cheesy sausage rolls. Stocks lots of 🎁 for those on holiday. Plus a mass of conserves, honey & other goodies. Always buy something when in Dawlish.

Delicious steak and kidney pie and always a good selection of other hot food and pastries. Staff always pleasant and helpful I always go there when in Dawlish Devon parking sometimes a problem.

It's been a while since I visited Gay's Creamery (8 years) but I'm pleased to report the standards haven't dropped. Service was good with very helpful staff , food was good and the atmosphere was nice & friendly.

Possibly the worse pasties in the world. ... even the cheesey Steves the sell are just awful.. I think u should go to a proper pasty shop and taste the difference how can u even buy this rubbish that u could get a better pasty from a supermarket... I had pasties all over the uk and this is the worse pasty shop in the country by a long shot and should be closed down. I recommend that this pasty shop try the bakery in St Mary Church torquay and try their own pasties before even replying to this review and knowing the pasty in this shop in St Mary Church are much better than what they are servicing customers and people who are on hoilday as well as live in dawlish shouldn't allow this bad experience to put u off buying a proper pasty elsewhere.. The bucheener on babbacome downs u can even get a better pasty than u cam from here do not rely on this place to gey pasties they are totally awful.

Been coming to Gays Creamery for over 20 years with the family when we went on holiday to Dawlish....it's become a sort of annual pilgrimage. Now I have a family of my own we've continued that tradition! Amazing pastries, moreish cream teas, and godly tier cakes. My only niggle is they no longer do the treacle tarts I remember from many years ago.....but the cherry pie definitely makes up for it. Here's to another 20 years

Ahhhh only THE BEST ice cream. I had the special vanilla clotted cream ice cream with even more clotted cream on top and a flake....I had zero regret. What a treat.

Visited here due to my childhood visit to Devon and my mum forever talking about this place. I was quite disappointed. Food left out with no sort of refrigeration. Due to this avoided lunch here and opted for an ice cream. Ice creams had a taste of meat about them. Such a shame!

Great little place, brought tea tea which was great value for money sat out on the waterways Infront of shop with a coffee was very enjoyable. Brought a normal Cornish pasty and a beef and stilton pasty was so nice. Lots of variety brought most of our souvenirs including homemade shortbread,scones and Devon fudge.

Visited on 2 occasions with different guests. The pasties are delicious and great value. We also tried the popular ice creams too and have to say, it was a real treat. All staff pleasant and efficient and will certainly be visiting often.

Love this place. Friendly staff, quick service and most importantly great food. My personal favourite is the breakfast pie. Full to the brim of a scrumpy breakfast 😋 with very lovely pastry. Will be telling everyone 😉

Creamery doesn't do it justice, this place is a veritable emporium of goodies. Hot and cold food, sweetmeats, ice cream, souvenirs, you name it, they've got it. When on a day trip to Dawlish (like this visit), I always make a point of popping in here. it's a must visit shop when in the town. Stocking up for the day I bought sausage rolls, a curry chicken slice, and a piece (slab more like) of Ham and cheese quiche. All the food was lovely, but the quiche in partic was one of the best i've had in a long time. And of course some fudge, to take home along with a box of chocolate raisins, cheekily boxed, and sold as 'crab poo' :) A great place, you can't go to Dawlish and not go to Gay's.

This is our go to place when we visit Dawlish. Lovely bakery, ideal for holiday presents but for us it’s the cream teas and the ice cream. The best ice cream has clotted cream on top and a flake. Dog had to share some ice cream with us too 💖

Purchased two ice creams. One with a flake, the other one the special, which had ice cream and clotted cream. Both were absolutely lovely.

We live in Cornwall and went to Dawlish to revisit Gay's Creamery for a pasty and ice cream. We had been before a few times in the distant past and enjoyed all our visits. This time was no exception. The staff were very friendly and efficient; the traditional pasties were very tasty; and the ice creams were to die for. Over all, the standard was excellent, and we would like to thank the staff for a very memorable experience. We will return.

Lovely cakes Pies sandwiches all home made. Scones jam cream. All delicious. Jams preserves presents. Scrumpy etc all at reasonable price

No trip to Devon would be the same without a trip here! Great local shop offering some fantastic treats.. Great choice of pastries, bread, pasties and pizzas / quiche / bacon rolls etc.. Staff friendly.

We came here during my childhood holidays, and l always remembered the ice cream with the clotted cream and flake. 40 plus years later, I returned with my husband and adult children and was amazed that this shop is still going! The ice cream was as good as my childhood memories plus the takeaway cream tea, pasties and cakes were sampled over our 2 weeks. Obviously more expensive, but the memory of my father buying me the ice cream and saying "don't tell your mum" was worth every calorie.

We visited Gays on the first day of our holiday and the food isn’t like it used to be!! Myself and my partner are vegetarians and due to cross contamination of meat pies and pastries with the cakes … the icing on the cake tasted of meat!!!! So disappointed as we was looking forward to a cake …. Went back told the manager our issue and she wasn’t bothered at all. Won’t be rushing back that’s for sure!!! They need to separate the cakes and the meat products!!!

Best special ice cream I've ever had!

This shop has food to die for. It is our treat during our holiday. We stay in Dawlish Warren with a private owner on the Welcome park. The food is heaven and staff are nice to you. I like sitting outside in the park watching the birds on the river, and eating those lovely cakes and scones. I can see why this place is a hit for tourists.

A lovely shop with great selection of pasty’s sausage rolls ice cream cream teas drink sweets etc. friendly staff and served very promptly. We had a pasty each and grandchildren a cake and ice cream then sat by stream running through Dawlish watching the swans. And ducks. Grandchildren loved it and the produce was 1 st class. I timed my visit right as a guy serving ( lovely chap with beard did not get name) gave me a free small pasty as doing a promotion that day so took that home for tea. The cream tea is a must lovely light scones jam and cream. All made on premises. Lovely treat on holiday. Well done gays as all reasonably priced and not like some places we visited just try to rip off people with silly pricing. See you next year 🤞

We popped in during our visit to Dawlish. The pasty and scones we bought here were delicious. They also sell bags of feed for the ducks and swans outside which was a lovely addition.

Bought a couple of pasties for lunch, a very disappointed cornish girl. The pastry tasted sweet and unfortunately the filling was mushy which was a shame as its a lovely shop and staff were nice

Fantastic service, beautiful takeaway cream tea. Scones are scrummy, jam tasty and clotted cream as expected. Pasties are average, nothing to rave about. Gift shop is brilliant, lots of merchandise and the ice creams are delicious.

Great bakery/gift shop. Lots of baked stuff on sale, great selection to choose from! The queue can sometimes go out the door and down the road, but it's worth the wait!

We visited today for the first time. We had the ice-creams…. Oh my god. They were beautiful. Im gutted to be going home in the morning, as i could happily sample other delicious delights on offer.

Looked in the window and thought dam this is going to be a hard choice, it all looked amazing, we had a slice of quiche 😍, slice of Chocolate cake and a cheesy piglet we all enjoyed our food, later on we went back, more...

Always visit here when we go to Dawlish, it's kind of a tradition! It's the ultimate shop if you're a tourist! Lots of gifts to take back and toys upstairs for the kids.

A great shop offering the legendary Special Ice cream, complete with flake and clotted cream on top. Plenty of other delightful pasties and cakes on offer including take home Clotted cream teas with scones.

I was staying at dawlish Warren last week and always come for a special ice cream with clotted cream and flake they are gorgeous and also the cream teas are gorgeous aswell.

Absolutely appalled with the level of 'service' this shop has to offer. Some of the things which are discussed in front of customers amongst staff members is disgusting. And hearing it come from an older man in his mid to late 30s to younger girls no older than 17-18 is just sickening. The owner(s) definitely need to teach their staff what is appropriate to be discussed on the shop floor, especially from an older man to younger girls. Can see these girls are uncomfortable with some of the things which are said. Perhaps look into who you're hiring. Sickening.

Just love this place 2nd visit this year well worth the drive from somerset. Gorgeous ice cream don't mention the ice cream & flake. Pastys good cakes that are huge & of course cteam tea to take home.

I am from the US living in Exeter with my wife while she is in Uni. Gay’s is literally the best pasty we have tried and is on the top of the list of places we take visiting friends and family. Would recommend the cheesy steve and the hunters chicken pasty!

I think the cream I had a weeks gog did not taste very good and I had minc pie thir was more fT than I could taste but other than that it was good pasty I had yester day did not have lot meet more veg than meet OK

LOVE THIS PLACE. Best place for homemade scones, sausage rolls and pasties. All home made. Great value for money . friendly staff as well . There is always a que, but it moves quickly . I would definitely recommend if your in the area.

We drive from Exeter to go especially to Gays Creamery Dawlish. Pies and pasties are great. Devon cream teas an absolute must!!!
