A lovely little cafe, with good service. Went there for breakfast, food was just okay. Beans were warm (not hot), hashbrowns soggy (although they were replaced on request), and sausages not very tasteful. For the price it wasnt tge quality one would expect

Lovely cafe (licensed too!) that is dog friendly with delicious, home cooked food. We had both the vegetable and the mushroom soup - really tasty. Only criticism was that the bread rolls, although warm, could have been bigger and maybe a brown bread alternative …. But that apart, it was lovely with tea served in delightfully pretty china cup and saucer .

The singing kettle used to be a lovely little place for food especially cream teas, I have fond memories of visiting with my mum and my Nan years ago and not so long ago with my partner and son but unfortunately it’s not what it used to be. What once was a large bustling part of the community and town is now characterless and overpriced. It’s often not open when it states it is which has proven to drive people away, considering some people travel to visit only to be greeted with a “We’re closed sign” on arrival even though websites and signs state they should be open. The lack of consistency and planning going on behind the doors is unfortunately going to mean another amenity that the town has had for years will sadly cease to exist soon, which is very sad. It would be amazing if it could be restored to its former self and continue to be one of the beating hearts of this town!

Interia was clean and tidy, we were welcomed in politely. The Tea was presented in a nice matching china set. Ham Egg and Chips, were OK, however the chips were a bit overcooked. The Ploughman's was lacking pickles (such as picked onion, gerkin), and the two packet ham slices were a bit underwhelming for a Ploughman's.

This is a wonderful, friendly little restaurant/cafe. Although my wife and I were only there for coffee, the breakfasts that were being served while we were there looked fantastic, as well as good value. What an absolutely wonderful experience at the Singing Kettle. We came here a few years ago for coffee and teas and loved the experience. The back garden is a lovely place to sit. Glad we came back for food this time as we weren’t disappointed. The burger was one of the most tasty and juicy I’ve ever had. My partner loved her tuna mayo jacket potato and the scones were delicious. The service is top notch, very friendly and efficient. Will definitely return next time we’re in Devon.

We placed the car on charge and wanted a quick bite and a cup of tea. The quick was not met as we waited an age for the meal which was still frozen in the centre and only two of us you would think it hard to get it wrong but they did bring out the wrong food. Having waited so long we just kept what they delivered. Even the bill was wrong they could try to stop chatting in the kitchen and take more time to work.

Never felt more ripped off. Other customers ordered milkshakes and we thought that’d make a change on a hot day. Whilst they weren’t on the menu, I assumed they’d be £2.50-£3.00.They weren’t the best. Half a pint of cool, not cold, milk, mixed with too much cheap syrup. They were very artificial tasting, Although they did add a split strawberry to the rim of the glass “for that continental touch”. We went to pay and were shocked to be told it was £11 for the 2. Pointing out a sign near the entrance with the price on. What an absolute disgrace. Half a pint of tepid milk, drop of flavoured syrup and a strawberry for £5.50. Who decided on this price? Outrageous, you should be ashamed 😩😩😩

Disappointing! They were busy, admittedly, but the service was offhand to the point of approaching Fawlty Towers - the waitress wouldn’t give me a receipt so just walked off mid conversation, among other things. The young serving staff didn’t seem to have any training in customer service and acted borderline rude to me and other customers. My ham egg and chips came as two thin slices of ham which seemed to have come straight out of a packet - no locally-produced fresh produce here. I probably caught them on an off day but I won’t be going back.

The staff were cheerful and friendly, and we enjoyed soft scones with clotted cream and jam. The hot chocolate for the kids was delicious too. The brownie could have been a bit less sweet, but the cheesecake was lovely. It's a good place to stop after seeing Haytor in Dartmoor National Park. (8 minutes by car) There is a paid parking lot (£1.90 for 2 hours) opposite the cafe, but coins are the only option, so if you want to pay by card, grab the cafe's wifi (no password) and use Ringgo. You can pay through the app. It's a soft, crumbly style scone, and it's large so you can eat one per person. Only the cream tea set (tea + scone + jam/cream) is listed on the menu, but you can also order the scone alone (jam/cream costs extra). It doesn't taste amazing, but the staff is friendly and it's easy to enjoy.
