Two Magpies Bakery in Suffolk Coastal

Staff are always friendly. Food is quite expensive and have to say not as great as ut used to be. The cheese straw is great though. The restaurant is a bit bland and almost like a canteen no real atmosphere sadly.

We had a really lovely lunch here last week. My husband had the turkey toastie, which was jam-packed full of all sorts of delicious things! I had the Baron & pear sourdough toast, which was delicious and inspired our Christmas cheeseboard! We took a doughnut away for later on, which was also wonderful. The staff are always helpful and the food is always on point. A must-visit for when you’re out along the East Coast of Suffolk.

Where to start ?? The great selection of breakfast items to eat in or takeaway ? The lovely decor ? No…it’s the staff that are even more the stars than the bread - they are all so friendly helpful and really seem to enjoy their jobs. This is a GREAT business - the owners clearly know what they are doing. Fabulous

Been here many times to eat in and takeaway coffees etc. I think that the coffee is the best I have ever tasted. Food and cakes are always superb albeit not good for the waistline! Not the cheapest food and drink but the high standards - also seen in their other outlets - mean each store is well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Lovely clean place .I'm sure it deserves to thrive I was so so disappointed in my take away sausage roll. The pastry was flakey and only the first layer was cooked ..it was so so raw gooey pastry.. the meat was ok I wished I'd gone back for a refund as its very expensive Such a huge disappointment

This should really be a zero star as unable to purchase anything. 15 minutes after advertised opening time on premises and on goggle doors still firmly locked

My husband and I have always been fans of Two Magpies, so when we decided to get married in the area they were our first choice for a wedding cake! The tasting was such a brilliant experience, the team really went to a lot of effort to present us with a range of options. We chose to have one layer of chocolate and caramel and one layer of lemon and blueberry, all gluten free. The cake arrived beautifully decorated and all our guests commented on how tasty it was! Thank you very much for helping to make our day so special :)

Stopped by for coffee and something to eat. Excellent service, friendly, prompt. Good coffee and a huge range of sweet or savory treats. They were busy, but we didn't wait long for our food

Travelled here for their scrumptious Brioche crispy bacon rolls only to find they had stopped serving that menu 30 mins before and were now on the evening menu. We were disappointed but understood as we hadn’t checked, the lovely lady in charge sent her daughter after us to say that she couldn’t see us disappointed and that she would ask the kitchen to make our rolls ! Wonderful friendly customer service, I wish there was more of this ! Thank you so much, we will definitely be back but will be sure to check the times ! Highly recommend the bacon rolls, the cakes are amazing too!

Visited the Darsham cafe with our three dogs and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. The cakes are AMAZING!! I highly recommend a visit.

Delicious veggie brunch, and full English, 2 coffees and a tea for £38. Very tasty food, great coffee, loose leaf tea. Good service. It’s not cheap but we’ve had the bread and pastries many times and they are all delicious and there is always a queue. It’s really cold in the restaurant, so take a coat, maybe because the door opens so often. Not sure why there is only one toilet as there is always a queue, and they’re missing a trick not putting a cover on the outside area! Maybe they just don’t need the extra trade as takeaways are very popular. A lovely place for treats.

Very good quality food at a reasonable price

Simply the best sour dough bread I’ve ever purchased I was extremely shocked at the price, but as I was going to stay with family, I thought well ok Had it toasted the next day, with thick butter and marmalade, we all agreed it was delicious and worth the money, in fact I stopped at Darsham on the way home and got another

Popped in as driving last. Lovely clean and welcoming venue. All the cakes and food looked amazing however settled for the home made tomato and fennel soup with fresh bread. This was definitely worth every penny as lovely tasting and a very good portion. Will definitely return if ever in the area afain

Excellent value and brilliant sausage rolls

Highly recommended!!! We stopped here after a day out at the beach and it was absolutely fantastic! Staff were soo friendly and even gave me a sample of chocolate to try!! The food was 10/10 & I ate it all too quick to take a picture!! 100% worth the stop!!! - picture added is from the Woodbridge store as we stopped off there the day after we tried this one!!

This very popular venue, has a great staff who were very helpful when there was nowhere to sit and hurriedly prepared a table for us when one became available. The menu was good as was the quality of the food, which we consumed some on-site and took away some amazing fruit scones.

A really great baker, without doubt

Was very pleasant, just a little bit soulless and the staff were very vanilla, but nice enough drop in for a bit of cake.

We had a lovely breakfast here with very fresh ingredients and very well presented. We also bought some cakes we ate later - strawberry bakewell and mint choc brownie cake but probably got the name of that one wrong. Both cakes were very filling but very sweet.

By far the best sausage roll I've ever had. The flavour was incredible and the lamination on the pastry was perfection. The rest of the grub looked amazing too! Could easily spend way too much money here! The coffee tasted a bit strange though, had a metallic/chemically aftertaste which was a bit off-putting. Will definitely return though as the food was incredible!

Very pleasant establishment to install and restore

Arrived in the afternoon. Still a lovely selection of cakes to choose from. Too much choice as I wanted them all. They all looked and sounded delicious. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely and clean. Plenty of parking.

Pizzas to take away were delicious and ready as ordered; easy to place your order and confirmed so you can collect with confidence. Super to have a veggie choice.

We have been coming here annually since it opened and are sad to say it has really gone down hill. I understand that they have opened up a great many branches in the last couple of years and can only assume this has had a detrimental effect on the product. We ate in and took away some baked goods, too. The baguette was a joke, about half the normal size and very tough. The croissants did not taste fresh either. We wondered if they are baking and freezing everything before it’s distributed to the outlets. The menu is rather 'got up', the food took an age to arrive and was only ok. Mushrooms on toast for £13 in a cafe! The service was shambolic too. Although there were plenty of people around no one seemed to know what they were doing and we had to keep reminding them about the drinks we had ordered. Not recommended.

Travelled for an hour as we were recommended and was it worth it....YES! Wonderful cakes and drinks. Friendly,helpful service. My only complaint is that there isn't one nearer...but will definitely be back!

Terrific pastries and hot options. Would be better if they had a takeout line and a dine in line, a minor quibble.....

Cakes and pastries are super. However staff were inattentive and surly. Open until 5pm but take away only from 3pm but wasn’t made clear you could still sit in just no longer serving in china cups etc. Paid eat in prices regardless. No number on table and server felt we should have known number on table and took some discussion to convince to take the order without a table number. Would buy food to take out another time.

Wow. Discovered this little treasure on Saturday whilst on holiday on our boat..We had already eaten but couldn't resist trying the marmite swirls which tempted usin the window...We got the last one so the girls quite gladly cut it half so we could share..The smell definitely set our taste bubs tingling. We could not help ourselves and gobbled it straight off. I was straight back into the shop to tell them I was most impressed. The lovely lady said there would be more tomorrow ! Open Sundays, too. Needless to say, we went back the next morning and purchased 2 more and a sausage roll, which was just as delicious 😋

Best bread around. The cookies and all baked goods are amazing. Lovely staff and great sun spot if you want one.

Everything's great. Decent coffee, top quality bread and a wide variety of sweet and savoury temptations. The smoked salmon bagel earns a special mention. So why only four stars? Please make more almond croissants. They're to die for but a rare and elusive treat.... They'd earn you five stars all by themselves.

Visiting on holiday and wish we had something like this locally in Cambridgeshire! The most amazing bread I've ever had and so well priced! Plenty of parking out front and such a great range of amazing goods!

I have been meaning to leave a review for some time having visited Two Magpies on many occasions including the Bake School for the Sourdough and Pizza dough courses. The courses I have attended have been led by the owner, Rebecca who appears to live and breathe baking. Her teaching style is very warm and welcoming and it is extremely comforting to be in the hands of someone so experienced and passionate in the art of baking. I could not recommend the Two Magpies experience more - I learnt so much and was so well looked after by the Two Magpies staff who provided a delicious lunch during the experience as well as the course itself. The fact that one of the owners is still so involved in the baking side is a huge testament to why I think Two Magpies has done so well - they love baking and you can taste it. Anytime I am nearby I will always stop by the Two Magpies bakery.

A large group of us tried some treats and drinks from Two Magpies during our weekend away and everything was delicious! The empanadas could have done with a bit more seasoning but the pastry was just great. This is my second time visiting this bakery and I highly recommend it. I would definitely come back if I were to visit this area of the UK in the future. Pecan tart, what a treat!!!

After reading the very positive reviews about the quality of the Full English breakfast, I have to say I was really quite disappointed - too many tomatoes, which after being pulled from the vine, left the plate swimming with juice. The baked beans were almost cold & the toast so hard that I felt sure they had a deal with the local dentist. The sausages were pretty average, as were the mushrooms. On the plus side, the bacon was very good, and also the eggs. A very good pot of tea too. The staff were friendly & helpful, and the food arrived quickly. We also purchased some bread pudding slices to take home, which were very tasty. Big queue for the single toilet was a bit off-putting - maybe an extra cubicle needs to be installed. It's a nice place, with good parking, but I left with a feeling that I should have had a better experience.

I used to love the two magpies bakery. Today for the first time I was disappointed. Tiramisu cake was too sweet, dry and barely tasted of coffee. The sausage roll was greasy and with way too much pastry. Chocolate brownies used to be amazing but today was dry and too sweet. It is such a shame quality is not what it used to be!

Just excellent! Wonderful friendly customer service. We had breakfast and food was of a good quality and cooked well. Staff very attentive to food allergies and there was enough options for gluten and vegan dishes. The in store bakery was also really good for takeaway pastries. Despite being next to a main road the traffic is not invasive.

Coffee and service were great, can't speak re: the food, didn't think it had any atmosphere but overall I don't expect much from a coffee/bistro houses anyway! They're one of the better coffee shops in the area!

I have been a loyal customer over the winter months, when they needed customers as im s local. But now the tourists have arrived there prices have risen by over 30^ last week my usually was £9 ish this its over £13"so they're ripping of locals and tourists alike I won't be bank in the winter when you need us locals, service fantastic food is good but massively over prices

Didn't eat in.. We had takeaway sausage rolls. Sorry, but I would not recommend them. Pastry was uncooked inside, and the sausage meat was like a rolled lump of not very moist meat. The first time we have been in there..

Our visit to Two Magpies Bakery in Darsham was absolutely delightful! Lots of spaces in the carpark and we sat outside in the lovely sunshine, which made our experience even more enjoyable. The range of cakes, pastries, and breakfast items we tried were all superb, with generous portions that were both satisfying and delicious. The coffee was excellent and a perfect complement to the baked goods. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, adding to the charm of our visit. Highly recommended for a wonderful meal in a friendly atmosphere!

Slow is not the word. You’ll not come across a more expensive latte in Suffolk or London.

Out side was closed so seating was sparse but lovely place, clean and the wife said her cake was delicious.

Well, there’s certainly plenty to choose from ….whether it’s old or cold foods and drinks you’re after.

Looks dirty and rundown when you drive in,containers, sheds and bins which could all be hidden behind a fence of some sort. Not much better on the inside either, walls looked scuffed and dirty, furniture has had its day, whole place needs a tidy up. Coffee was ok but expensive. Used to use Magpies either here Southwold or Aldeburgh a lot but not now. Looks like these have been forgotten in favour of the other ones opening elsewhere.

Love this place and other Magpies I usually spend a small fortune, because its not cheap...but delicious food all beautifully made Nice little cafe within....but its definitely a take away too...

Lovely food, dog friendly cafe, called in on way to Colchester, just wanted a light lunch, had a sausage roll each, very tasty, I also had the apple cake which was so light and delicious, hubby had carrot cake, was a bit too sweet for his taste but good generous slices of cake.

Absolutely love the food here, always very fresh and delicious. (Could do with some acoustic sound panels)

This is an outstanding find and is how every good cafe should operate. The food was first class. Full of flavour, perfectly cooked and plentiful. Service was prompt, and first rate. The cafe's cleanliness was faultless as were the practices in operation to maintain that high standard. They deserve to be successful and could easily provide a model that others should follow if they want to know how it should be done.
