Twisted Teacup Bistro in East Hampshire

We went into here thinking nice menu new business we love to support new business. Staff weren’t helpful or friendly waited ages for food.,poor quality must of quickly popped to Iceland for there products. Won’t be going again.

Amazing venue. Thoughtful staff and quirky decor. Good sized menu and obvious fresh produce. We went back in the evening for cocktails and were delighted. Booked my 40th here as was so impressed

Staff aren’t friendly and have a lack of knowledge. Food isn’t fresh. They don’t answer phone calls or reply to messages. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Arrived, sat down for a few minutes, no-one came so went in. Asked if I could order a couple of flat whites and a bacon roll. Was asked to go outside and she would come and take my order but were trying to catch up. Sat for over 15mins, no one came, went inside "hello can I help you". Explained we had been waiting for her to take the order for more than 15 mins. Had clearly forgotten we had been waiting but was reminded that she had told me she was trying to catch up....shame.

Me and friend came for some cocktails in a Friday night. We sat outside as it was a nice evening. Looked pretty with the lights going across. We were the only ones downstairs and looked like we were the only ones wanting a drink. We wait 15 minutes to be served the. Another 10 for our drinks. My friend ordered some sweet potato chips. They came and were undercooked and a small portion at that. We finished out drinks and decided to put and leave as no one had checked on us or asked if we wanted another drink. When I payed I was absolutely shocked to hear her say the chips were £5!!!! While we were there also they decided to take the smelly dripping bin out and passed us and it was only just 8pm! We decided to leave and go to the ale bar next door. Much better service!

Something of a hidden spot we had an impromptu lunch here. It was a pleasant experience and there is a nice outdoor area in the rear of the cafe.

My husband and I popped in for a coffee on a quiet Saturday morning. There were three members of staff at the bar; none of them acknowledged us, and one member of staff was loudly groaning that they had spilt some coffee, and so needed to clean it up. We sat at a table opposite the bar, and waited, and waited ... and waited. The table was filthy, the floor was unclean, there were very few cakes left on offer and the whole place reeked of deep fat fried food. After ten minutes, no-one had even acknowledged us, so we got up, left and took our business elsewhere. What a poor experience, they really need to do better.

Amazing atmosphere with attentive staff, table service all throughout our 3hr visit, only went for the Tapas then found out it was a cocktail bar too, presentation was amazing the food was even presented beautifully.. did not want to leave, 2 beautifully decorated themed rooms upstairs, even has a secret garden out the back. This has to be the best kept secret in Alton !!?? WELL THE CATS OUT OF THE BAG NOW !! Myself and family will definitely be back again, just booked a table for 12 as we could not wait to invite our friends. Promotions running constantly (only know this as we met the owners) fabulous couple. You will not be disappointed, they even serve breakfasts like you've never seen being presented the way these guys do. Thought we were all master chef judges by the end of our visit. Can't praise this establishment enough, we'll done guys. Ps see you tonight with our very excited friends.

I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but don’t bother going here! I was so excited a new nice looking coffee shop had opened in Alton and was keen to try it. My partner and I went in yesterday for a coffee and maybe cake. When we entered the woman behind the till instantly said drinks only and they were doing food. Not a super warm welcome but no problem. We ordered a small coffee with soy milk and large coffee with soy milk which was £6 to take away. When the drinks came they were both in tiny takeaway cups, when my partner politely said he’d ordered a large he was bluntly told they were out of large takeaway cups… no offer to refund any money for the fact that we’d paid for a large. We left, a bit disgruntled and when I started to drink mine it had been made with cows milk which I tasted instantly. We had already got to our car and started driving away. So I had to throw my coffee away completely. It’s a real shame, and a total waste of £6. I won’t be going back, they need more training on customer service and allergies!

Trying the Twisted Teacup for the first time. Really nice decor, friendly staff and what Alton needs but...... no vegan sausages for the only vegan thing on the breakfast menu. Wd have thought a quick trip to the local supermarket wd have been good when checking stock, given it was Saturday brunch time? Also v strange not to have a hot drinks menu so you have no idea what you're paying for the (very good) coffee. And smell of oil from the kitchen percolated all through downstairs. All in all a mixed bag. Wd like to try it again but not sure we will.

I have been here quite a few times and each time i have loved it. The tapas is amazing the cocktails are lovely and the servixe is on point. The owner is lovely and made ne and ny daughter a beautiful pudding the whole atmosphere was enjoyed. Highly highly recommend this little gem.

We had no idea this lovely little bistro existed until today. We were met with warm service and instantly fell in love with the place. The Eggs Royale and Full English were amazing and really hit the spot. I think we've found our new regular place!

Great cocktails, perfectly presented with fresh ingredients (including half a passion fruit in one). Find out when their happy hour is! Slightly shabbier than chic (supermarket trolley in courtyard, store cupboard with no door or curtain) but I think it’s been tidied up since our visit. Nice tapas, freshly prepared. Lovely sundried tomato bread and butter/oils Service fine, plus we got to try a pink prosecco that they were thinking of stocking, very tasty. The idea is brilliant, Alton certainly needs something different, once teething troubles are sorted out, this will be a great alternative destination which isn’t a formulaic offering.

Staff had to check if kitchen was still cooking as they kitchen closes at 9. This was at 8:40. Told we would need to order quickly. We ordered tapas and cocktails. Tapas was alright; nothing special but nothing terrible. However, we're told they had no ice for our cocktails. Try enjoying a mojito with no ice! The worst thing was the member of staff said there was no ice "So they may be warm". In hindsight, I should have cancelled the cocktails and gone for something from the fridge. Second visit as we had brunch there a couple of weeks ago. That wasn't impressive; both food and service lacking decent quality. Decided to give it another go but regretting the choice. I would suggest investing in staff training, and maybe tell the chefs that with the window open, the customers can hear you... Owner needs to sort some staff training and devote a bit of time to polishing the edges and improving their food offerings...

A frankly awful place. The wait staff were very rude and dismissive, and the music was way too loud - I swear you could hear it down the street. Horrendous service, definitely a place to avoid in Alton

I went with my boyfriend as I thought it was a cute little place however the service was terrible! We had to wait quite a while for food which we received separately. I personally think it was expensive for what it's worth. I won't be going back which is unfortunate as it was local to us.

Love this place! Such a great new addition to Alton and very much needed! The veggie breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had - certainly the best in Alton. Great value for money and staff were lovely too. Highly recommend.

Really nice setting and the staff were pleasant, but the food! We ordered a breakfast and a breakfast sandwich both arrived 22 min apart. The sausages appeared to be deep fried and soaked in fat the bacon was burnt, the beans had ‘cheese’ in, why?...

Managed to sit outside in the last of the sun and enjoyed a tapas meal with friendly staff and a nice ambience
