Tutu's Ethiopian Table in Reading

We have been having Ethiopian food for years now and I have to say this find closer to where we live was amazing. Freshly made, healthy and tasty. Highly recommended

Had a few coffees there, decent. I like going to independent places and avoid the Costas/Starbucks/Gails, but I was expecting this place to be a bit cheaper, considering it is independent and next to a playing area, and the location in East Reading is deffo not a high street hot spot. Coffees for 3.5-4£ are a bit out of budget for a working class neighbourhood and I do think there'd be more people from the playing area popping in if it was more affordable... Trying to do constructive criticism for a place I like...

Ordered a take away from Tutu Ethiopian restaurant for my sons 60th birthday for 5 of us and plenty left over for 2 more meals Food was wonderful and everyone loved it Ordered it cold and then reheated when we were ready to eat. Tutu is a lovely lady and works hard at her business. If you haven’t been here food is delicious

I visited Tutu's after spending nearly 5 years in Reading as a student and never going inside. Me and my friends would always walk past and never visited. The hot food is incredible, extremely generous portions and tasty for the price. I had chicken stew (Doro wat) with a side of cabbage, and traditional flatbreads (injera). I then went up for seconds trying all the food they had prepared that day: beef stew, lentils, chickpeas, carrots and broad-beans, and more chicken stew and flatbreads. I also experience the traditional coffee. I have never experienced such a friendly, generous, hospitable service before in my life. Tutu's is a truly authentic and family business that deserves all the love in the world. They also serve homemade cakes, hot drinks, and sandwiches for those wanting an ordinary lunch.

I've been a fan of Tutu's Ethiopian Table for years and was so excited to see the new location in Palmer Park. The food is as excellent as ever - just incredible doro wat! Everyone working there was warm and welcoming: great atmosphere, great decor, great vegetarian options. The range of events hosted there, including walking clubs, poetry, open mic nights, is also fantastic. Tutu's is an treat and you should absolutely visit - I can't wait to go back and try the cakes 😊

This is a lovely quaint and cosy little building residing in the middle of Palmer Park. It is such a jewel to find. A treasure worth adventuring out for. I always ask for the doro wor (spicy chicken) brown lentils with the injerra. My favourite beer is St George. Tutu is absolutely fantastic and she knows how to choose her staff. They are the same. Always come back here. You must give it a try. Tell me if you agree.

Didn't eat, so cannot score food, but it looked lovely.

The short lady with short hair behind the till was very rude and loud, banging ice while I was speaking to understand the menu and ask about food and drink options, then backbiting to another customer that "that was hard work" and showing clear discriminatory conduct and attitude. Please show respect or make clear if it is a none BAME establishment and I will take mine and my community's large population of business elsewhere.

We had tutu's spicy chicken and rice from their fab food truck at a food festival and it was so tasty, spicy but flavourful and they were so friendly! Already planning a date night to their restaurant.

Tutu (I'm guessing was her name!) was lovely and saved our early return home by allowing us in so my daughter could use the toilet, even before being open officially! Lovely coffee and drinks options for the kids, and the cakes (toffee and chocolate were sampled!) were delicious and very generous portions - happily recommend and lovely to have the facility as part of Palmer Park! Will certainly be stopping by again on the next visit.

The food at Tutu's cafe is consistently delicious - with great vegetarian options, great cake and coffee, and the staff are always so welcoming. Tutu also catered our wedding last year and we received so many compliments about the food! Would absolutely recommend.

Very nice people working here! We really enjoyed our lunch, very heartwarming. It’s a pity though that is one of those places that charges extra for soy or oat milk but not for cow’s milk. Their extra for soy is 50p, I can get a litre of soy for 50p in Sainsbury’s. I hope this punishment ends soon.

Finally got to come and enjoy this delicious food. Absolutely loved it and everyone was so friendly. Will definitely be back

We hired Tutu's Ethiopian to do our wedding and they were a massive hit! Their service and presentation was impeccable and our guests had nothing but amazing things to say about them and their food on the day! They even managed to do sharing platters or single platters so that our guests could experience Ethiopian food in it's traditional way. Thanks so much for making our day memorable!

First time coming here. The lady who welcomed us was lovely. We dined outdoors and enjoyed the cold but sunny day. The service was fast. Food tasted just ok but not worth it's price. We ordered meat and rice and was served literally rice and meat with broth. It was tasty but i think it is something anyone can make at home by boiling meat with onion and spices then adding rice. A bit disappointed to be honest.

Aaaaamazing brownies! Absolutely delicious! The box didn't last long. I have to say I was very impressed with how big they were. So fresh and tasty. Very, very yummy and the best is that I could order & collect it very easily. Tutu is so friendly and answered to my message right away and understood exactly what we needed. Spot on!

This cafe is in Palmer park and aside from great views of the field and surroundings, it has some really healthy food options. We tried the vegetarian buffet with lentils and vegetables with bread and rice. The food has some distinct flavors and is quite healthy at the same time. The dine in space although small is quite spacious. We liked almost all the dishes we ordered. I would definitely visit the place again when we need homely food that’s tasty and healthy. For a family of the 3 the food was more than sufficient and we got some boxes to go.

We had beef and mushrooms takeaway. Hot food waiting on you exactly on time. The dishes were very tasty and full of flavour and exactly how I like my food. I am definatelly coming back for more soon. The place is also great coffee and cake stop. No need to mention that the service is always super friendly.

Firstly I visit reading to see friends and came across this place, all friends and work colleges voice the same answer to not go in to this place. After experienceing it I'm actually disappointed. Disgusting attitude from the lady with short hair.staff have no idea what there doing. No respect for any customers even if there child needed to use bathroom, spoken to other mums at the park and they have all voiced the same issues. Appalling and disgusting. Training needed to how they speak to employees and customers. health and safety needed and cleaning. I will be reporting this. Work company we deal with this sort of issue, behaviour

Our fifth Ethiopia reunion at Tutu's and just as special as the first. We always receive a genuinely kind welcome and are well-catered for. I can only vouch for the vegetarian options but they are delicious, filling and the injera keeps coming. Great to have Ethiopian beer too. We always stay for hours and are never rushed.

We booked Tutu and her food van to provide authentic Ethiopian food for a party on 28th July and we're very happy that we did! The food was incredible, served hot and plentiful portions. Tutu is reliable, a fantastic chef, arrived bang on time and was very low maintenance - just what you need when you're throwing a huge party. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tutu and her team for private parties, or if you fancy lunch or dinner at their premises on Palmer Park. Best curry I've had for a long time!

Lovely food, lovely people, lovely venue

Tutu and her staff are lovely. The food is great (even my picky 4 year old will eat it). I generally go for lunch, but there's also a good selection of homemade cakes to get you through the afternoon. The bonus is that you are in Palmer Park so kids can have a run around afterwards and you can relax a little bit longer with a coffee.

Calling all wholefood loving, gluten struggling vegans....... If you would like homemade delicious nutritious food served in an amazingly friendly environment, then come on down. This is a delightful place to eat with superb authentic food and atmosphere. Where else can you get homemade, gluten free, vegan, absolutely delicious carrot cake? You have to try this place to see how good it is. It's a hidden gem.

Super friendly and helpful staff at the café. Nothing is too much trouble. Definitely worth a visit.

I like small restaurants & coffee shops! I am in the park and decided to walk in & check out the place! The inside is well decorated with Ethiopian arts & crafts, plus it is spacious dinning hall, so do not hesitate to go inside & explore it! I only tried the coffee and a home-made cake that was super delicious, hand-crafted to my taste 😋 There is a range of authentic Ethiopian dishes on the menu as well. Make Tutu smile & drop in for a quick bite while at Palmer’s Park!

Tried Tutu's pot which consisted authentic Ethiopian rice and chicken. I highly recommend this place. Indoor and outdoor seating. Staff were very attentive and helpful.

Tutu's food is delicious and her hospitality is wonderful. Her restaurant has a delightful atmosphere and feels very welcoming. It's well worth going out of your way to visit.

I think the food u are selling is too expensive And u won't get many people camping yo your cafe Thats for sure Maybe if u reduced your prices on main meal Prices and not asked people to pay more for it then maybe your will sell more food Earley cafe is better quality than u And tastes better too Plus they have a better menu to choose from So people will go there than come to your cafe Just remember the cafe is yours but the land is not yours Just remember that in future please

We love Tutu's, the food and service is excellent.

I regularly come to the cafe to have lunch and I'm always glad that I do. Friendly, welcoming service by the staff, especially the lady in charge, and I would like to pay particular attention to their hot red lentils with rice that I have found to be absolutely delicious. The green seasoning in the photo is something that I've added myself to make it even better!

We tried the takeaway food for the first time. It was ready at the arranged time with good distancing measures in place. We got it cold and heated it up in the evening. Both chicken and beef were excellent.

Very friendly café with a good range of food and drink. The coffee is excellent. The real star is the Ethiopian lunch or dinner. Choose either one meat and one veg dish (lunch) or extra veg dish (dinner) and accompany with rice or injera. Injera is an Ethiopian flat bread more like a pancake. Tutu and her staff are very welcoming.

Went in for hot chocolate on a chilly morning and made to feel welcome nice and friendly staff .

We have just switched to a veggie diet during the week and I wanted a veggie takeaway to convince my wife that we don't HAVE to eat meat to have a nice takeaway. Thanks Tutu...delicious veggie takeaway tonight. Everyone at home loved all of it. We will be back to try your breakfasts soon!

Super place. Ethiopian food, toned down to suit a western palate which is a shame. But the Table is worth a visit. And the proprietor is charming. I visit as often as possible.

We always loved Tutu's food and few days ago we heard about the brunch breakfast so we decided to give it a go! It was so tasty and the quality of the ingredients are so good that this is even better than the Bill's one! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to try high quality food at a very affordable price ❤️

I had the Thursday evening buffet here recently. The food was absolutely delicious - it's the same as when Tutu had the buffet at The Global Cafe before. There's a vegan or meat option. Great value too. Highly recommended!!!

Absolutely delicious, authentic Ethiopian food. I particularly enjoyed the lentils and the mouthwatering beef curry. Lovely building too!

Didn't have the best experience. Wouldn't let me pay at end (wanted to option to maybe buy more drinks or dessert) which set the tone! Food was not good- frozen veg used. Some sides were tasteless and another tasted badly. Shame as always like to support local businesses.
