Persian Palace in Reading

The food is very delicious, the appetizers and bread, and the wonderful atmosphere overlooking the river with the passing of the swans, a view that captivates the heart. There is heating in the place for closed outdoor seating. Meat dishes are tastier than chicken dishes, but I prefer more salt in all of them. The sauces provided are wonderful, white sauce with dill and hot sauce (available on the table)

Delicious food, the most friendly, attentive and polite staff and a fabulous riverside setting.

Took the Family out for my Wife's birthday dinner to celebrate. Much improved refurbished venue, pleasant atmosphere and great food albeit on the expensive-side. Parking in and around the area is still difficult. Sadly this is down to Reading & Wokingham Council's have a serious lack of understanding on how to encourage and support people to get out and spending money in support of local businesses, shops and restaurants.

Everything was great, high quality Kebab and friendly staff.

Nicely appointed restaurant with river views in the summer. Bread freshly baked to order on the premises is just delicious with the starter options. Lamb kebabs are juicy and succulent. If these are not the best in Reading, I'd be very surprised. Staff are very friendly and attentive. I'm sure that Persian Palace will continue to be one of our favourite Caversham venues.

Must admit I haven’t been to many Persian restaurants but this is one I will always come back to. The location is just over the river, and the view from downstairs overlooking the river is awesome. The portion sizes are great, the food just melts in your mouth, the service is second to none and the atmosphere is great. Had the big family platter (for 4) shared among just two (hungry) people and it got cleaned up nicely 👌 this is probably the best spot to dine out in Reading 👌🔥

We like Iranian food and because Persian Palace is the only restaurant in Reading offering it, we have ordered from them several times (delivery) Unfortunately, they make mistakes in the order every single time. This I have tried to help them correct by adding extra detail in the (extra information field) of their ordering page, following up with a telephone call. Often the person who takes the call has a very poor standard of English which you'd think would cause them to be far more attentive to the customers requests. Sadly they are dismissive, condescending and uninterested. Several weeks before writing this review, I wrote an email to them expressing my issues with their past service. Sadly my email fell on deaf ears and I received no response or acknowledgement. Given the average food quality, sub standard service and awful customer attentiveness, I will never purchase form them again.

As we walked over Caversham Bridge, we noticed the glass structure and people sat at tables. We thought we would take a look and ended up there for two hours sampling a side dish and a drink. Will definitely visit again and try one of the meals on offer.

Too cold, poorly presented food (salad), expensive for what it is. Did not get any water we asked for. £3 for Diet Coke is high - at least there should be ice and lemon with this. Staff were friendly and very pleasant.

Food is terrible and bland and lamb meat has a smell to it, kebab e barg is the worst I've ever had but service is good and seating area downstairs on the terrace overlooking the river is fantastic

This place is definitely worth the visit for the location and the views. Especially in the evening when it’s dark and the lights are reflecting in the river. The portions are large so it’s perfect for hungry people. I’ve been here twice, and both times I think I’ve probably ordered the wrong dish because I wasn’t a huge fan each time. But the people I’ve been with have always enjoyed their choices.

I’ve eaten at the other branch in Ealing. This was lovely, being on the River. Seemed like it took a few minutes longer than usual to get our order but once it was there, it was brilliant. Customer for life. Best Persian food around by far

It’s the top class Persian restaurant in Reading, which offers amazing food at high prices. Given the location of the restaurant and the view it offers over the river Thames, I strongly recommend it.

Beautiful location and tasty food

The Persian food is good as expected but I must point out the excellent service and experience. All the staff were hands on, and every member of the team was very caring and made sure everything is tailored to needs. Wish I could give more stars.

This is excellent food, a clean restaurant, and a very special terrace right on the Thames to enjoy. The freshly baked flat bread is moorish, the humous well executed as are the chicken with lemon kebabs . The meat eg lamb kebabs look good but we didn’t try . The Shiraz salad is delicately flavoured and freshly made . Enjoyed the lamb and spinach stew and tried both stews on the menu . The food is delicious and not spicy for travellers like us who don’t usually eat Persian food . We ate here once while staying at the crowne plaza across the river and came back especially from wales just for another lovely meal . We were delighted again . Probably the best food in Reading .

Over the course of 24 hours, my friends and I visited this gem three times, and each visit was better than the last. What truly sets this place apart is the warm and welcoming atmosphere, thanks in large part to Nahid. From the moment we walked in, Nahid made us feel right at home. Her kindness and attentiveness are unmatched, and she has a remarkable way of making every guest feel like family. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality, and Nahid's warmth made our experience all the more special. The food at Persian Palace in Reading exceeded all my expectations, even as a regular customer of their Ealing branch. The dishes are authentically Persian, bursting with flavor, and cooked to perfection. Whether it was the succulent kebabs, the aromatic rice, or the perfectly spiced stews, every bite was a delightful journey into Persian cuisine. The consistency and quality of the food during each of our visits were outstanding, which speaks volumes about the dedication of the kitchen staff. Given its proximity to the Reading Festival, Persian Palace was the perfect spot for us to unwind and recharge between the excitement. The ambiance is both cozy and elegant, making it an ideal place to escape the festival crowds and enjoy a delicious meal in a relaxed setting. The View and atmosphere is Electeic and so peaceful with a nice view of the river and opening windows to enjoy the weather. In summary, Persian Palace in Reading is a true find. With Nahid's exceptional hospitality and the consistently excellent food, it's a place that leaves a lasting impression. I can’t recommend it highly enough and look forward to returning soon!

Having been a regular at the Ealing branch, I decided to come here as it seemed like a nice place to sit beside the river in the summer. Whilst the view is nice in general, the river and wider area you are looking at is a little dirty. The restaurant interior itself is also slightly tacky and oversized as it usually seems quite empty apart from a few diners on the terrace. The mains portions were sizeable and the food was fairly good, apart from the bamieh polo being slightly spicy which is not typically Persian. Also it was a bit on the pricey size, taking into account they add a 10% service charge, the starters are really expensive - you are paying £10 for a tiny portion of salad shirazi or oliviyeh. So the overall bill shocked us a bit, especially as you get a 15% discount on takeaways so there is effectively a 25% difference between eating in or out (once you include the service charge added to the bill). The odd thing was that they asked if I wanted to give another tip on top of the 10% service charge. Not sure I will come back, will probably just keep getting my takeaways from the Ealing branch,

***HARAM*****HARAM*****HARAM*** These guys are NOT HALAL they are zoroastrians (fire worshippers) look at their logo then type in zoroastrians their, i asked them if they are halal certified by any board they said no then i asked simply please can you inform me where you get your meat from just to see if their suppliers are halal, however they became aggressive over the phone and would not give this detail up, i would not trust unless they become halal certified especially

Absolutely fabulous place. Great food reasonably priced. Reading is lucky to have a high quality Persian food restaurant. It’s usually only available in certain parts of London. Everyone in the local area should go or consider ordering it over other takeaways if given the choice.

Me and my friends visited the Reading Persian Palace branch for dinner, having been regulars at Ealing. I was blown away by the stunning decor downstairs and the riverside view. Our waitress was incredibly hospitable, kind and professional. The food was beautifully presented and delicious… I would highly recommend the ghafghazi! After dinner, we really wanted to stay and enjoy the view. That’s when our waitress suggested a pot of tea with bakhlava. It was the perfect end to a perfect meal! I would highly recommend a trip to Reading Persian Palace if given the chance and ask to sit by the river!

Our server was unprofessional and downright rude. The prices were outrageously high considering the awful experience. And the final straw was the unexpected service charge on the bill. I recently dined at Persian Palace, and I was very disappointed with the experience. The service was slow and inattentive, despite the restaurant not being busy. The food was below average, lacking flavor and freshness. Additionally, the lady that served me, she was rude, and belittled and embarrassed in front of the other people. Overall, it was an unpleasant dining experience, and I won't be returning. And I won't recommend this place. Disgusting

The menu was a bit limited but what we had was very good, albeit too much in quantity. Downstairs location adjacent to the river was very good, albeit rather drafty.

Food is decent but inconsistent. Sometimes the meat is tender, sometimes hard as a rock. Staff is terrible. Very rude. Might be a language barrier issue but they definitely don’t know how to speak/deal with customers, especially regulars. Weird about families sitting downstairs in the new refurbed part. They pretend it’s fully booked or make up some excuse about shisha but no-one’s smoking and there’s kids present there already. Upstairs looks like you’re sat in some uncle’s Persian kitchen. Only worth sitting downstairs in the new refurbed bit with river view but you have to force them lol. I was a regular customer in person and via delivery as there’s not many options for Persian food in Reading. Don’t think I will be ordering or going back for a while as I’m tired of their bad attitude. Spend £60 on food delivery, call them to include sauces then they give you a lecture about how they should charge you 50p for each sauce, but the sauces are sat free to use on each table inside. lol

Had a lovely dinner on Thursday evening. Food is super tasty and the best rice I’ve ever tasted. Portions are huge! They’ll offer a ‘box to go’ for your lunch next day 😁 Staff very polite and attentive. Lovely to sit on the river in the conservatory.

Unsophisticated behavior. Is it reasonable for you to serve shisha and drink shisha and smoke is prohibited? Where is justice and reason?

First time here and found it by accident. Food was excellent and setting was particularly nice overlooking the Thames. Only spoilt by my table looking at a wall instead of the river and two very loud, shouting kids whose parents didn't seem to care.

Food was excellent, service was top notch and the location and outlook can not be beaten. We highly recommend to anyone who is looking for an idealic river fronted eatery!

Food was decent, service was good and location was good, i’m skeptical about the pricing. I was charged cocktail price for a Mocktail, which makes 0 sense. There was a service charge which I didn’t mind paying and then I was asked if I wanted to tip.. the bill was already £90 for 2 people and I got alcohol taxed for juice. We ordered a hummous, Persian palace for 2, 2 mocktails. The Lebanese place next door was half the price for more or less the same… with better food IMO.

Very kind staff, explained every dish that we ordered, and helped us in ordering the right portion. The food was scrumptious and had flavour which really was authentic.

The river fronted seating downstairs is perfect. Book it if you can. At lunchtime we found the place very quiet. I particularly liked the smoked aubergine starter. The chicken and lamb kebabs Montaz to follow were very tasty, but I'm unless you are v v hungry one would probably suffice. The bread was flaky and burnt and did not appear to be freshly cooked as advertised. Perhaps because it was so quiet at lunchtime the service as patchy. Worth a repeat sometime.
