True locals pub created from an old shop premises on the Oxford Road. Limited seating but attractive pricing with frequent specials and attentive staff. Can get high energy in the evenings (for good and for bad) but it's a well run pub that's worth dropping by, where locals are happy to chat. Likeable place that I pop in when I'm nearby.

Didn't barely notice the place as I went past but popped in for a quick pint and ended up there all day, chatting to anyone and everyone. Really shocked as it is only a small place but it was so friendly and welcoming I will be drinking there again soon!

For some reason, I didn't know there was a bar here. The Wishing Well is an inconspicuous little one-unit drinking room in a row of shops. It has just a few generic taps, so it's a micropub in size and atmosphere but not in ales (no casks). I bought a bottle of Bud to drink on a pavement table outside. The lady behind the bar offered me some kind of deal for 2 bottles, something I haven't come across before in a pub--but I wasn't stopping. Various convivial drinkers in the small bar room made the Wishing Well seem convivial. It was the same outside, where I sat chatting in the Easter sun with friendly, interesting locals as the pedestrians and busy traffic streamed by. Though the pub's not one of the old traditional ones, it sits in the heart of what I'd call "real Reading", a densely populated area where you still hear the distinctive local accent. Will return, for sure, next time I'm in town.

Great Pub. Reasonable price. Excellent selection of beers. You can really feel the native atmosphere during match of England. I strongly recommend this place to all the football fans. This place is just fantastic and should receive an award.

After hearing about this quirky little pub on the Oxford Road a few of us (now we can) thought we would pop in and support our local pub. WOW what a warm friendly atmosphere, we were meted at the door by the landlady Tam who instantly made us feel that we were at hone something that you rarely get these days. The atmosphere was a buzz of mixed age young to old and we were instantly drawn into the local banter. Prices were excellent too we even sneaked in a few jäger bombs, can’t wait to get back and enjoy more of the warm friendly atmosphere! Well done 👍🏻

Absolute dump with boring beer. When you've got great places like Brewdog, why bother with a slum like this?

We had a great meal with the family. It was their first visit to Vegivores and a 100% vegan restaurant. The food was excellent, as usual. We had macaroni cheese, broccoli, Satay burger and a burrito. The desserts were also excellent - we had waffles. The (grown up) children were surprised by how filling it all was and were defeated by the desserts! The Gnocchi is a bit of heaven. 10 out of 10 again Vegivores.

This was my first time visiting the restaurant, and overall, I really enjoyed the food. The chatpate had a great texture, though I found the flavor a bit bland. A better balance of spiciness and sourness could have elevated it even more. Momo were both delicious. Just a small suggestion from my perspective: if the momo had a thinner outer layer and a juicier filling, it would have been perfect and the achar was excellent and really enhanced the flavour of the momo.

The GeoCafé is still setting the standard for both coffee shops and bakeries. Alot of the coffee chains charge as much but don't come close in food quality. The outstanding onsite bakery provides the bread and many of the pastries. The medialuna (solid Spanish-style pastries often mistaken for croissants) are unique, delicious and satisfying. Excellent quality groceries, coffee and pastries much loved by the locals.
