Turmeric Gold in Coventry

Terrible customer service. I thought of taking my parents who were visiting from India to what I thought would be the best dining experience for them, but it was not so. We went in at around 8 to have dinner with a 3 year old, and we were told each one of us have to order one main course including the toddler and are not allowed to share any meals among each other. The staff were giving us disgusting looks as if we were aliens and I could tell they wanted us to leave. Which is exactly what we did. We ended up going to McDonald's as all the drama got us really late, my poor child was starving at the end of it all.I would not go there again myself nor take anybody with me. It was such a humiliating experience.

We visited Coventry when we were on a canal boat holiday and found this restaurant recommended on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed, the food was excellent. We went for the tasting menu with wine flight, pretty generous portions of wine and the food was very interesting, we ran out of space towards the end! The staff are friendly to, well worth a visit.

We’ve been coming to Turmeric Gold since it opened over 20 years ago and genuinely have never had a bad experience. As a special treat we decided to book the 7 course tasting menu for last night and were blown away, it was even nicer than normal. There were 9 courses in total, including a couple of ‘palate cleansers’, my favourites were; Indian Kulfi & Apple Crumble, Duck Mango, Bhuna Lamb, Scallops in Saffron, and Malai Chicken Korma. My husbands favourites were Bhuna Lamb, Malai Chicken Korma, Duck Mango, Onion Chaatpati, and Scallops in Saffron. The service was excellent, the presentation of the food was second to none, and the ambiance was the right combination of friendly, chill, and luxurious. Because it was a dining experience we really wanted to take our time and indicated as such to our lovely server AJ. In total we spent 2 hours 40 minutes over dinner which was perfect. We love coming as a couple but have also visited with friends, with family, and as a large work group. As he often does, the manager owner Jay stopped by to check everything was perfect. His diligence and attention to detail have ensured Turmeric Gold has remained a superb restaurant the whole time it’s been operating.

Absolutely amazing. Wonderful customer service, amazing food. We had the taster menu as a birthday treat and it was incredible. Best food I have eaten and all paired with great wine.

Without question, the food is delicious and plentiful. We had a great time and the restaurant is kitted out beautifully. Everything was spot on with the food although at some point one of the party was still eating when plates were being cleared away from other family members. Not what I would've expected. This didn't affect the ambience of the place thankfully. The only complaint I have is that there was a customer surcharge on the receipt, which was about 12% of the overall bill. A bit extreme considering we were not forwarned of this and charging £ 5.50 for a glass of coke was a bit extreme. The bill totalled over £250 for five of us to experience 'The Journey' which admittedly was wonderful, but we won't be going back because of the horrendous charges. We could go to London and eat in a fine dining restaurant for less!

What a great place. Very polite and friendly staff, from door to table. All very smartly turned out and all were extremely accommodating. The restaurant is lovely and cosy. Well presented and decorated. Very comfortable seating. You get a welcome mango shot and an amuse bouche before your food comes out. The sign of a quality establishment. We ordered two swarma chat starters which were delicious, with a nice spicy heat build up… no complaints there! We ordered a Korma chicken and Chicken Dynamite… one very mild the other hot. Both arrived in an unexpected manner, rather than a stodgy curry with lots of gravy and a few chunks of meat, it came almost deconstructed, with lots of meat and less sauce or gravy, The meat arranged on top of the Korma sauce and the sauce for the other dish in little onion ramekins. Absolutely delicious both of them. The naan bread was also perfect. I polished mine off… there was very little left of the Korma. We didn’t drink alcohol so can’t comment on the bar standard. When I arrived the staff were explaining to a take away customer that their order would be a while as everything is freshly made and nothing is pre cooked here. The customer left not wanting to wait! Foolish! Totally recommended.

Best food, best customer service, best everything. Don’t think twice and just go and eat here. Whether in house or take out, worth every penny.

Absolutely delicious, everything was perfect, I was warned the Dynamite Chicken was hot, and yes it was… happy days, delicious Naga chilli flavour. The house red was a perfect accompaniment. Five stars from us.

This dining experience was excellent from start to finish, the staff were fantastic and the quality and standards throughout the restaurant were exemplary. I have never had food on a scale as this as the full meal from starter to dessert was excellent. I would definitely visit this place again and highly recommend this venue. Our experience at Tumeric Gold was 5 star! It was the best Indian restaurant we have been to from the presentation of the food right through to the flavours.
