Not sure what to make of this place. They have a very long menu, and when I asked for a recommendation the waiter just pointed at all the items and suggested I choose one of them. So I went a bit retro and chose that old favourite Chicken Tikka Masala. There was also a ridiculous bit of theatre where the waiter brought out the hot food, put each of the dishes on a gas ring for about a minute, then put them on a hotplate. So no danger of any cold food. The sauce for the chicken was an alarming red colour and too sweet but the meat was tender. Chana Masala was perfectly OK, and the bread was also fine. Maybe they have some really authentic Indian dishes hidden away somewhere, but frankly I wasn't expecting too much so I wasn't disappinted. Service OK, price reasonable.

Staff are very attentive. Food was lovely and just as ordered. Really quick service. Nice and calm atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

Amazing service especially from Mustafa and food was great. The roses were a fabulous touch and we all loved it. Worth a visit

I used to visit Tudor Raj a bit a few years ago, then started going somewhere else which was a lot better. Unfortunately that place has gone downhill so started coming back to Tudor Raj over the past couple of months. The quality of the food is most definitely average or slightly below average on occasion. I often order vegetable madras which has a good variety of veg, but the sauce is very mediocre. Last night's had very little flavour, was really quite mild and was swimming in oil and water. My biggest issue with the takeaways here though is that the cartons are never more than about two thirds full. This is quite deliberate and done to save money, as confirmed by the manager when I queried it one time, he said it was due to rising costs etc etc, yet other restaurants mange just fine and are no more expensive. Last night's takeaway was the final straw for me as it was only a little over half full and thoroughly underwhelming.

I had the chicken biriyani with some vegetable bhaji and it was great. Excellent customer service. Will be coming back again .

Gave us the popadoms, left us hanging for at least a half hour, had to go up and ask for service, they came, took the order, another twenty minutes past, then the food came, not bad, but they were heating it up on a camp stove on their service trolly. We finished our meal, asked for the bill, they brought an utterly indecipherable itemised bill to the table, we worked as per their menu prices and were still about thirty pounds short on the bill, which they got very salty about, seemed like they had just tagged some extra on for themselves to us but after a salty exchange we just divided up the excess and paid, there was no attempt to explain the pricing and they simply told us they only do a table total, not an itemised bill. A lime and soda will cost you £4.95 though I can tell you that for nothing. Poor service, poor attitude, bad prices and dodgy billing. Wouldn’t go back

We visited to celebrate a birthday and had an absolutely great experience. The service was superb and without fault, our ladies were treated to flowers and everything was polite and perfect. Food was very tasty and well prepared. Would definitely visit again if in the area. Highly recommend.

I came here and the assistant manager called Nizum Himel was very rude and tried to get my 13 year old daughters phone number and offered her some of his special sauce in private ,later on he was arrested by the police for noncing

Found this place after attending a music event in Chipping Sodbury and what a find; a first class restaurant. The Indian food was some of the best we've eaten, so fresh and tasty. Not swamped in sauces as can so often be the case. Just faultless. Service was fast and the staff were friendly. Honestly cannot wait to return.

Me and my partner have only been to Tudor Raj twice so far buy our experience has been amazing. The first time my partner knocked his beer into his nearly full curry, the staff replaced the curry without hesitation whilst giving us napkins to dry. Last night we went and the food was just as amazing as we remembered, the size of their onion bahjis are larger than tennis balls and cooked to perfection! The staff are all really welcoming and attentive which makes our experience really enjoyable. We both ordered the biriyani and I really recommend their Raj Special biriyani if you like a slight kick of spice (perfection level for me).

In need of refurb water dripping from the ceiling over our table and when pointed out it was not addressed. Like it has been there a long time. Staff

Not the nicest experience, as the manager let the whole experience down for us. Asked if our food was okay and a couple of our dishes were cold, so we let them know. Next thing we had the manager stood over us quite frankly having a go at us for providing feedback. He proceeded to tell us ‘he serves 100s of customers a day and never has these complaints’. This completely ruined the meal for all of us and made us feel very awkward and uncomfortable. Made even worse by us not making any complaint just informing and providing feedback of the back of them asking us for it.

We had a lovely meal here. I asked for a recommendation from the menu as I couldn’t decide, Ahsan Jamil helped with my choice of curry and it was delicious! The atmosphere was great, as was the service by Shafi. Have the icecream for afters, you get to take home your icecream dish! Hehe Definitely worth a visit.

I've been a loyal customer of Tudor Raj for years, enjoying their take-out and dining experiences. However, my recent take-out was disappointing, and tonight's meal was completely unacceptable.

Had a take out for the 1st time and it was lovely would deffo get another

As we live out of area we chose Tudor Raj based on the exceptional reviews. Sadly we were very disappointed. As they state everything is cooked fresh to order and have options to write dietary requirements I presumed my request of no onions in my vegetable paneer would be no issues. This was confirmed by staff when we came to collect it and was also written on the receipt and Tupperware it came in. However my dish was full of onions and the vegetables were definitely pre packaged frozen ones. Due to the distance we live away from the Tudor Raj we were unable to return to rectify this which is disappointing.

Lovely food, great service but very noisy

Great service, wonderful table service as well, shame they can't sort the bill out properly if ur with a group... not going again.

Turned up to collect our 8pm takeaway and had to wait 20 minutes extra. My partner finally asked if our takeaway was ready, and it was only then it was bought out, grease leaking through the bag from where it had been sat for the 20+ minutes. Curries had separated, so oily!! Only redeeming feature was the naan bread. Disappointing from our much-used local.

I've visited many Indian restaurants over the years and this is consistently & definitely one of the best! The food is always amazing and the service is impeccable. I can't wait to go back as soon as they reopen, but in the meantime their takeaways will have to suffice!!

I normally find the TR good but the last few times have been poor. Appreciate it is a Saturday night and busy but if too busy to care about the quality why bother, my main was not as asked, no extra chilli's and not hot, oily and bland flavour with huge chunks of raw garlic. Very inconsistent food won't be back, unfortunately a lost customer

I have been visiting Tudor raj for the past 14 years. They always make me feel special and welcome - the restaurant is authentic, beautiful and clean. Gorgeously decorated with a decorative fish tank, themed music playing and private booths available.The food has always been spot on for me I’ve never had an order that was not perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. Nothings ever missing from deliveries and any special request you make are never too much trouble. They use REAL lime pickle in their orders and their portions are not small like other places. They also have a huge menu with many choices to choose from and they never disappoint. There’s something for the whole family - I started visiting regularly when I was carrying my eldest, now she and her brother sit and dine with me and when they do the staff make a huge fuss over them and give them lil treats. They love visiting “The Raj”. They also cater for birthdays and other celebrations and provided a lil birthday cake and card when I recently celebrated my birthday there! If you’re looking for the best Indian restaurant/takeaway in the area - this is the place you want!

Visité anoche con amigos y debo decir lo decepcionado que estaba con la experiencia en general. La recepción estaba lejos de ser cálida, y nos dijeron que de repente llegamos tarde 5 minutos cuando el reloj estaba corriendo rápido, ya que en realidad llegamos muertos a tiempo. Las mesas están tan juntas que no ha habido ningún esfuerzo para separar las mesas y hay un marco de madera muy estrecho con láminas de plástico entre la mesa como un gesto simbólico, pero no cubre más que el ancho de la mesa. El camarero no tenía ningún interés en nosotros como mesa y, mientras tomaba nuestro pedido, estaba más interesado en todo lo que sucedía a su alrededor que en escuchar y hacerlo bien. Hicimos varios intentos para anotar el orden correcto; nos sorprendió que lo hiciera bien. La comida estaba bien, pero no a los estándares habituales. ¡Muy decepcionado y no volveré corriendo!

We decided on a take away as still not comfortable with eating out.Tudor Raj made it easy to order online. Pick your dishes, choose your time and just turn up. They bring it out in minutes.The food itself was nice but could have done with bit more chillie heat for my taste.It's pretty good value apart from the chapattis which are way overpriced.Overall pretty good.

Rafiq y su personal continúan sirviendo comida maravillosa. Ha instalado pantallas alrededor del restaurante con las habituales manchas de desinfectante de manos y el personal lleva máscaras. ,Durante muchas semanas hasta el encierro tuvimos a Rafiq personalmente entregando su comida y él siempre fue consciente del distanciamiento social.Ahora que ha reabierto el restaurante es otra vez nuestro refugio habitual, aunque sin más visitas al pub de antemano.Buena comida y una cálida bienvenida amistosa y segura esperan a todos.

Pedí mi comida en línea a las 1645, la pagué y seleccioné una hora de recogida de 1900. Recibí un correo electrónico en 1705 confirmando que debería recoger mi pedido a las 1900.Me uní a la cola fuera del restaurante en 1855. Pronto se hizo evidente que no había una organización para la recogida en el lugar. Parecía que quien gritó más fuerte recibió su orden. La gente llegaba más tarde que yo y recibía sus pedidos con bastante rapidez. Finalmente recibí mi pedido en 1925. Algunos clientes habían esperado más que yo. Cuando finalmente comimos nuestra comida estaba muy buena, como lo había sido en ocasiones anteriores. Si ofrece una hora designada para la recogida, debe poder hacer frente al volumen de pedidos y cumplir con el compromiso. Fue una lástima que el alto nivel de la comida se viera defraudado por el mal servicio.

Tenía una comida para llevar fantástica desde aquí. Quisiera conseguir una comida para llevar una vez a la semana para ayudar a nuestros restaurantes locales cerrados. Normalmente saldría a comer. Esta semana fuimos por un indio. El sitio web es realmente bueno y fácil de usar. Todas las reservas online. Nuestro pedido llegó a tiempo, el personal fue muy amable y servicial.

Me and my mum thought we get and Indian takeaway and the Tudor raj didn’t disappoint. The food was outstanding and the service amazing. Especially during this time the Tudor raj had set rules in place regarding social distancing which is great.

Beautiful building, staff are helpful and friendly. Menu is great all cooked fresh and still sizzling at the table. Food tastes really good.

Visitamos en una tarde ocupada y disfrutamos de muy buena comida y tuvimos un servicio bueno y amable del personal. Sin embargo, nos decepcionó que nuestra reserva en línea se hubiera perdido, así que tuvimos que encontrar una pequeña mesa temporal al lado de la puerta de los baños exteriores. Las disculpas fueron aceptadas y solo nos retrasaron unos minutos. Better than most of the high street curry places. Really tasty food, great service and friendly staff. An imaginative specials selection and reasonably priced.

Great food. Staff seem a little overwhelmed when restaurant is very busy and had to regularly prompt them for our order but besides that it was superb.

Booked a table two weeks in advance for new year's eve with friends, only to find out when we arrived that there was no booking for us. Also there was another family complaining about being kicked off there table before desserts as the table needed for someone else. Don't bother booking go elsewhere if you want a nice evening. We ended up going to the Italian across the road, what a lovely place and meal. Will definitely be going back there.

Very good Indian restaurant, it has a varied menu with a good selection of dishes from starters, mains and sides, rice's and nan's. We go here quite often and always have a good meal at reasonable prices.Only one thing to be wary of on the menu, prices are not on every item but at the bottom of a list of items, so be careful. Friend of ours chose a dish which she thought was £9.95 but was £14.95. whenthe bill was challenged the manager was very good and understood the confusion and reduced the bill by the difference £5.All things taken into account well worth checking this restaurant out and giving it a try, you will not be disappointed. We will also be returning.

We ate here on a quiet midweek evening although lots of regulars were collecting takeaways. We were welcomed by friendly staff and after some Papadums we opted for a chicken Dhansak and a Naga Masala with rice from the very extensive menu. These curries were cooked to perfection - lots of lovely authentic flavours making for very tasty dishes and the portions were perfect for us.

Excellent restaurant and friendly staff. Food always well cooked and tasty. My favourite Indian restaurant and takeaway.

We regularly order a takeaway from the Tudor Raj and we are never disappointed. We recently ordered on Friday evening and despite the restaurant being busy we collected our meal 30 minutes later and it was ready as promised.

¡Este es un lugar habitual para nosotros una vez, a veces dos veces por semana! Fantástica comida: pollo tikka patia y papas Bombay para morirse! Recomendaría a cualquiera que "ame a un indio" que lo pruebe.

Back in 1995 this was my goto Indian restaurant. Always good. Even up to 2017 it seemed still pretty good. Over the last year something has gone wrong. Our last meal for two cost over £70, and it was very ordinary. I had three beers one more than usual, and my wife had two soft drinks, one more than usual. But soft drinks cost more than a glass of wine. Four years ago, a meal for two with two beers and a soft drink would cost about £43. It always seemed to be about the same £43 - £45. Now it seems that side dishes have become quite expensive, as is rice and naan’s. So for it to get to £70 was quite a shock, as I had a special like I do normally do. I have had some good lamb curries here, but the last I had was so ordinary, it was hugely disappointing. And it’s such a shame because the ambience is lovely, it’s cosy. It feels like there has been a change in management, but I’m not sure. It does seem that someone has decided to extract more money out of customers, and the quality hasn’t gone up with it. Our last two visits have been disappointing and last time we said, that’s it; we’ll not be coming again.

We visited Tudor Raj last night for my fathers birthday. Not only did we have the pleasure of watching three dead fish half decomposed floating in their fish tank next to us, and not only did we have to remind the staff that half of our drinks weren’t served several times. We had to put up with the shirty personality of our waiter. We had a specific dietary requirement within the party, and I made a point of calling upfront to make sure it was okay, the response we had was blunt, off handed, rushed and couldn’t be bothered to help as he wanted to serve other tables.

Had to write to say ‘thank you’ for another fantastic meal. Always consistently good, definitely our favourite Indian Restaurant!

Hi I love Indian food and know a good one from a bad one the food is about 8 out of 10 it with the waiting I ordered on the phone and they said 40 mins I got there 45 mins and then when I got there I waited a nother 20 mins what the hell it be 3 times now it better if you go and wait don't ring first I would give it 2 stars for the shire arrogance of making me wait so long please just eat there or just ordered when you get there

Have been coming to the Tudor Raj since Rafiq took over regularly on a Friday for a curry and you cannot beat it. Great value for the food you get, tasty, fresh and always served with a smile. Best Indian in the local vicinity!!

Normally here weekly for takeaways, but we sat in last week. We were very late arriving but at no stage felt rushed. Food was top drawer as always and staff friendly and helpful.

I was really looking forward to eating here. Unfortunately my partner was ill, so I ordered a takeaway on Saturday 24th August 2019 at 5.30.

This used to be our favourite Indian, and I’ve been going here for over 20 years. It seems to have changed hands a couple of times in the last two years, and now it is a shadow of what it once was. 5 years ago we could go here as a couple and have a lovely meal for £45, including two beers, but no starters. The other night it cost us over £70 and we were disappointed with the meal. It was average, but no more, whereas it used to be lovely. This is not good value, and really I felt completely fleeced. Beer is now £5 a pint, and charges for sundries are quite extortionate. Worst of all, the quality of the food has really gone down hill, and the cook really doesn’t have the same knowledge or skill as in previous years. This used to be our guilty pleasure, but frankly, we will sadly be looking elsewhere. I see that the current director has applied for voluntary strike off from Companies House, and in 2017 UK Immigration raided the restaurant and found 5 people working as illegal immigrants. This rather reinforces our feeling that this restaurant is no longer run by the same people that used to make it a pleasure to visit. It seems to be teetering in the brink, and trying to make a lot of money before it collapses. Avoid!

Pedí una comida para llevar esta noche a un costo de 25 la comida era muy buena y estaba bien hecha, pero me decepcionó una ensalada de color marrón con el bhaji de cebolla, una pena y me echaría a pedir nuevamente.

Fuimos en grupo para comer y charlar. Si bien la comida es su tarifa estándar de restaurante indio, hay algunos problemas. Los precios son bastante elevados y los cuatro que habíamos pedido arroz individualmente, todos teníamos el plato principal y no quedaba arroz; Necesito una porción más grande por el precio cobrado. No es barato en casi 30 libras por cabeza en el momento en que se liquidó la factura. Recomendaría uno de los especiales de monipur, espero que escribí correctamente, fue muy bueno y se adapta a aquellos que no les gusta o qué curry caliente.

Hemos visitado el rud de Tudor varias veces y en cada ocasión lo encontramos acogedor y cordial.

Hemos comido en muchos restaurantes indios y, si bien hay otros buenos, este es nuestro favorito. La comida siempre es excelente, ya sea que coma o lleve. El servicio es siempre bueno y el personal siempre es amable y servicial, incluso cuando se ordena fuera del menú. No se me ocurre nada malo que decir, muy recomendable.

Been coming to this restaurant virtually weekly for years. Sit-in experience is top drawer for a night out curry and a few beers. Takeaway is just as good. Always correct and consistently great flavour.

We had a takeaway, it was so disappointing. It lacked flavour and spice, essential for Indian cuisine. Perhaps they were just having an off evening but we won't be returning.

Great food & very friendly team. We’ve used the Tudor Raj for many years & never had anything but great food. The team serving (in particular Emma) have always been superb. Highly recommended & we have no plans to change.

We had a table for 4 on Saturday 13th April and everything seemed to be good until the curry arrived.... the chicken was fast cooked, so was dry and hard and the lamb must have been cooked a day or two before as the lamb was very hard chunks and my curry was only just warm. Will not be going there again... one to miss!

Decent Indian located up the top of the high Street. Take you chance with parking on the street. Good food, pleasant service, and decor. Prices reasonable. Seats/benches a bit hard. Advised by local that its the very best in Chipping Sodbury; there are only 2.
