King of Spice in South Gloucestershire

I think I’ve eaten here well over 100 times now and every time I’m blown away. Had my first ever curry here over 10 years ago and I’ve loved it here since. * * * * *

Popped in this evening, very busy time but the food was superb and worth the wait. Picked up a takeaway but there was a lovely atmosphere and everyone dining in appeared to be having a nice relaxing experience. Will definitely visit again soon.

I recently dined at King Of Spice and had a fantastic experience! The moment we walked in, we were welcomed with friendly smiles and a cozy atmosphere. The decor strikes the perfect balance between chic and comfortable, making it a great spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. The menu offers a wide variety of options, and everything we tried was delicious. I started with the garlic chicken tikka starter, which was fresh and flavorful. For the main course, I had the special chicken, which was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. My friend ordered the honey chicken and lamb curry, and it was equally impressive. We even received complimentary chocolate for free after our meal. What really stood out was the service. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and they had great recommendations for both food. They were also very accommodating with dietary restrictions, which was much appreciated. Overall, King Of Spice offers a wonderful dining experience with excellent food, great service, and a welcoming ambiance.I will most definitely be coming back and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal out.

Food was wet, and some of my order was missing. Won't go there again. Not authentic

1st time ordering from here and won't be the last. The food was delicious, we had 3 different curries and all were lovely. The service was quick as well,only having to wait 20 mins between ordering and being able to collect it. We will try going for a proper sit down meal in the near future.

Absolutely amazing, the butter chicken bhuna and Garlic Nan are epic. Service is great too.

Very unimpressed Usually this place is of a good standard However my last meal (takeaway) was cold, I let it slide, on returning for another takeaway I asked if they could ensure it is hot this time as last time it was cold, I live less than a minute from this place, On returning home most meals were hot however rice was barley tepid Definatley wasn't at the correct temperature (75*c) for serving food, I called up to say come on this isn't acceptable and told it's my responsibility to make sure the food is hot before leaving, no where in the food standards agency is it the customers responsibility to make sure food is hot, this is the chef in charges responsibility and it will be them liable for any food poising cases from serving Luke warm rice, considering rice is a high risk food. Seems this isn't the only customer who's had cold food from this establishment will only be a matter of time before someone's extremely ill Not good practice! On a positive the food taste good but learn your temperatures

I am a curry snob and I can hands down say this is one of the best curried I’ve had in a long time. I often order from the city centre from places with multiple reviews but the quality of this food was outstanding. The rice was super fluffy, the chicken very tender. I like that there is the option to buy curry sauces on the side as well. I will be making this my regular spot now. Also- super friendly delivery driver. I didn’t have cash for a tip this time but when I order again I’ll be prepared. Many thanks for the great food & service.

I ordered to collect from this poorly organised restaurant and found items missing when I got home. I ordered for delivery and over 2 hours later no food arrived. This was after I had a confirmation email for the order and also had phoned to be told it was on its way! The food never arrived. I would avoid and use one of the many reliable takeaways in the area.

I have ordered prawn kerela gravy... The gravy had too much oil and there is only turmeric powder in it... The gray is too raw and no taste... Had a worst experience.... Please provide a quality food to customers...

Family ordered multiple curries, we usually go this curry house. My curry was a chicken karahi which I've ordered from here a thousand times. Laziness is what I'd call it, there was clearly a tandoori chicken tikka (the red chicken small pieces that have been on a skewer) thrown into my chicken karahi rather than the usual nice big chunks of chicken I'd get, which has a completely different flavour profile + was aesthetically ugly having tiny red chunks of tikka chicken swimming around in a brown karahi. Was especially jarring to see the other chicken curries the family ordered being what they should be with the appropriate chicken pieces and for some reason they chucked in dry / clearly left out chicken tikka pieces to cut corners and save money rather than giving me, a paying customer, what I deserve. We'll go to another curry house in the future, lost custom you get regularly from us that you had for years.

Fast service. Food was excellent and plentiful. The onion bhajis were the best we’ve ever had. Bring your own booze if you wish, they serve soft drinks only. The place is large enough for parties.

A real hidden gem. The food is delicious and portions are generous. The owner and staff are friendly and efficient. Looking forward to dining here again.

Amazing Food, we have used the King of Spice since we moved to Bradley Stoke over 10 years now, never had a bad meal. Staff are courteous and polite and the place is always very clean. Couldn’t rate it any higher. Excellent.

Second time we've bought from here. We ordered a takeaway and collected it. Car park is a bit of a bun fight at busy times. The food was absolutely delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection and good quality. The pasanda and masala sauces were very tasty, and both quite creamy with great texture. The peshwari naan is simply the best naan I have ever tasted - fill with spices and rather large. The prices are not cheap but doable, especially for a treat. We shall definitely order from here again.

We have been regular customers at the King of Spice for some years and believe this to be the best curry house in Bristol. The consistency of the gravy is spot on, meat is always cooked just right and the flavours are perfect. The Staff and owner are always pleasant and helpful. Its a bonus thats its also a byo. Highly recommended and will continue to be a regular customer.

Really great food. Very reasonable prices and nice to take own drinks to save on cost. We love this place and have introduced a lot of our family and friends to it!

Food is really good and the service is very courteous (particularly Sujal). Try the Karahi but if you want really hot, the chicken tikka chilli masala is the bomb! Also like that you can bring your own drinks! Really small space but they’ve done the best they can with it.

Not the first time I have reviewed this restaurant but delighted to see that standards have been maintained. Pleasant efficient service from "mine host" Ruhel and without doubt one of the best chicken dhansak`s I have tasted beautifully prepared by chef Milton. Try it curry lovers you will not be disappointed.

I had a take-away so only got to see the sit in part from the door but it looked ok. The food was tasty and well cooked.

Best Indian restaurant in the bristol city. Delicious food and excellent service. Stuff of this restaurant are really good. Curry was fantastic.

My favourite Indian to goto. By far my favourite in the south west. In my experience I have found it better to take away then eat in. But that’s just personal preference. The chicken tikka masala and chicken buna from this restaurant are some of the best I’ve ever had.

Fabulous food, reasonable prices, and good service!

Food here is amazing! Shrimps, chickens and lamb are so tender and juicy in House special. Tried Lamb Kashmiri for the first time, sweet and creamy coconut banana sauce is astonishing itself, not to mention the flavourful juicy lamb, tasted as good as beef noodles from Taiwan. Wonderful dining experience here, reasonable price with good service, definitely recommended.

Restaurant was very quiet on a Sunday evening. We were the only diners in so service was efficient and friendly. Food was delicious and plentiful. So much so, we took what was left home with us. Reasonably priced too.

Best curries we’ve had in Bristol. Reasonably priced and great portion sizes. Always quick and consistent so never lets you down. Have since moved over the bridge but will still prefer to drive back and get a takeaway from here than go somewhere more local.

Nice little restaurant that's easy to miss as it only looks like a takeaway from outside. We have eaten here many times, always with pleasure. Great food, prices and service. BYO alcohol too with Tesco Express just two doors away.

Very busy with tel orders and take away so felt neglected on table service as a long time to get served, poor guy was flat out. But honestly loved the food best indian we found so far and we do like our indian food so we were glad we waited to try this place. Also not OTT on spices just enough for what i liked. Definately getting ours from here in future.

I am very fortunate to live just a short walk from this great little curry house and it never fails to deliver wonderful food. We brought along our own drinks, as it's a BYO and had a lovely meal. The staff are always attentive and the food is top notch.

Best Indian for miles. Been really struggling to find a good Indian takeaway near us until I tried this place. Food is fresh, order time is quick, prices reasonable. The Byrani is the best I’ve had anywhere!!!

Delicious. It's actually a Bangladeshi restaurant serving Indian cuisines(Bangladesh was once in India though). Food is too good.

I feel very lucky to have King of Spice just around the corner from me. They’re my go to Indian takeaway. The food is always hot and absolutely delicious. They’re always friendly and polite and it’s very useful they can take telephone payments when delivering. Delivery is always early and I can’t fault them! Friendly staff, best Indian food around. Not greasy like most Indian restaurants. The spices are generous so you will get a nice thick and flavourful curry...been going for 6 years...definitely worth a visit!

Lamb ceylon was decent, probably a bit too spicy for this type of dish. Naan was bang average, way too thick and didn't taste fresh to me. Definitely not the best Indian I've had

Great curry. One down side it was a bit cold because we ordered on line & didn't receive confirmation that it was ready!! Only sheer luck that hubby decided to go to collect as we tried phoning to check but, as they were very busy, it was engaged constantly. That said we would get a curry again but by visiting not ordering online.

Never eaten there but seen them dumping their commercial waste in another businesses bins and when confronted blaming the neighbouring Chinese restaurant. Needless to say not a restaurant I would buy from or recommend.

It was reasonable, that's about all that can be said. Wasn't bad, wasn't great.

Had a delivery for 4 different dishes, everyone thought they were spot on. The south Indian Kerala dish I had was as good as any I have had anywhere. Delivery very good, helpful and friendly. All dishes perfectly warm. Recommended

Rubbish. Forgot a main meal and took the mick by making us drive back 10 miles with the cheek to say no refunds cuz the manager isn't there (an obvious lie) and offer £8 of free food which turned out to be 2 rice. Mightve been nice but cold and bad service

We ordered a takeaway for delivery, it arrived lukewarm which I had to microwave. I had chicken tikka saag which was very salty. My son had a lamb curry but he couldn't eat the meat as it was very tough and dry. We haven't had a takeaway from here for sometime and won't be going back!

Friendly helpful staff who served table for two, even though they were only doing takeaway service Tuesday evening!

Racial discrimination. Just been there. Saw plenty of seats available. But was not offered. Waited outside for 30 minutes. No one turned up. This is not the first time. My friends have complained as well. Dont go anywhere near this restaurant.

Amazing food taste so good the flavours are to die for

A few months ago our delivery was late and cold. Gave them another chance tonight. After waiting 2 hours and having to call to find out where the food was it arrived cold. Safe to say we won’t be using them again

naan bread chewy, hard, definitely far from fresh, not home made...straight to bin!!! sauce oily..I had to pour out 200 ml pure oil (2 meals with chicken) before eating... barely warm food! 2 pound charge...even if they claim free delivery! this place is a joke!!! one star for mint sauce

We ate here mid week and it was fairly busy.. always a good sign. The staff were friendly and helpful the food was served quickly and was of good quality. It’s a little more expensive than i am used to for such a restaurant, but i will be back. An alcohol license would be handy, i like a cobra with my curry.

Second visit here while staying at the Doubletree up the road. Well worth the 5 min walk. Very small restaurant, not busy but the takeaway side was very much so. Phone continually ringing, it was very popular, so we though it might take a while to get served. Not at all, our food was there quickly. Great curries and starters, we ate all of it. Bring your own alcohol, Tesco Express next door so saves carrying it. Overall we will 100% be back if staying in the area again. Brilliant value!

Bargain hotel for area, but you get what you pay for. Pretty tatty and in need of a complete overhaul decoratively. No WiFi in the room which is ridiculous in this day and age. Good parking on site and close to the conference venues. Staff friendly but not sure if I would use again. You could hear people in other rooms, in corridors and creaking floorboards above you. Suffice to say didn't get a good night's sleep.

Very nice food - tasty and light - not overtly greasy or spicy. We tried the veg biryani, pilau rice and tadka daal - along with a mixed kebab platter. All of them were very nice. Note that eating-in costs about 20% more than taking away - maybe that's the practice at this part of the world.

you can not charge a fee to use a credit card... it is against the law! You have just lost loyal customers!!!!

Been going here for years, always had great, tasty food. Bigger orders get salad and sauce which are lovely on their own! Service always great and prices seem good to me. I’d happily recommend

I usually get a take away from this place because the food is so good,the Garlic Chicken tikka as a dry dish is lovely with a strong garlic taste and a little salt to bring through the flavour.If you like really hot stuff, i would go for the Chicken Celyon, Special Chicken, Chicken with Chili and the very Hot Chicken Naga Walla.The quality is very good, i have never eaten at the venue so cant comment on that but this for me is one of the Indian takeaways I know

I got a takeaway from this place as many friends raved about how good this place is...I got the King of Spice Biryani for £10.95 which I thought was reasonably priced for chicken, lamb and king prawn mixed. The meats itself were nice, the king prawn however a little disappointed, I think there was 1, maybe 2 small sized king prawns cut into smaller pieces so you don’t get a lot...overall a little salty aswell. The rice for the biryani also isn’t as soft and fluffy compared to the other rices, I also ordered a garlic rice to compare and that was soft and fluffy but lacked a stronger slow cooked garlic flavour. I ordered some onion bhajis and they were very good, not too oily, the bag it came in wasn’t dripping with oil neither and they tasted very good! The fried egg on top of the biryani was cooked perfectly, doesn’t need the tomato, cucumber and lemon on top though. You get a side salad with any starter anyway. Overall happy with my experience, couple minor changes and it would be perfect!Can’t comment too much on service and the extra charges but the staff greeted with a smile...wasn’t in there for more than 1min to pick up a takeout.I probably would come back here...overall 7/10!

Visited last night. Ordered K of S Special Biriani at £12.95 (£2 dearer than Saffron Bradley Stoke) & a Coke. Served 20 minutes later, and the meal was good except when I paid it was more than £17, I left without thinking, but returned & queried the cost of the coke which was £2.50 but then learned that there was a £1.50 service charge which I hadn't been made aware of at the outset, I left but have since realised that the total should've been £16.95 and not in excess of £17 which I paid so I'm going back today to query this. I think the menu prices should have the £1.50 added and if so then I question if anyone would ever eat there?

A very small restaurant that does a lot of takeaways. However they do not interfere with the service. A very good selection of dishes to suit all palates. Good portion sizes and no corkage charge.

This is the first time I have been there and it will not be the last. The was great.

We've only had takeaways from here, but it is so hard to not order something every week. The food is incredibly tasty, my husband has a lamb tikka masala and I usually have a lamb madras, we've also tried the buttermilk chicken which is also really good. The tikka masala sauce is sweet, rich and suitably thick and the madras has a good, spicy bite to it. The lamb in both is always tender and melts in your mouth.

It's a Bangladeshi restaurant which serves Indian food. It has fairly good taste but not up to the level of traditional Indian food which we get in India. All chicken dishes has same tikka pieces of chicken but the taste is good. You can bring ur drinks Dishes I would for foreigners Pappad with sides Butter r garlic naan Chicken tikka masala or butter chicken masala If u like it spicy go for chicken jalfrezi or vindallo ££ on the cost wise

Me and my husband had a great meal here. You have to take your own drink, but there is a Tesco next door. One of the best curry’s we’ve had!

First Indian meal out it was brilliant staff friendly and helpful.

First visit for a sit-down meal. Bring your own alcohol. The place is quite small and not very atmospheric, but the food was excellent. Would go again.
