Love the food, staff are fantastic always clean and welcoming environment

2rd time iv ordered from them, got the order wrong for the 2nd time, call them to correct the the order and yet AGAIN get pissed around with some excuse.. who pays £3,50 for one naan bread, ordered 3 individual ones and got told they were all ordered as one.. food watery and chicken tough as hell.. dont order from this place, Saffron in Bradley Stoke are 100% better.. wifes choice to go here again..

I get a take away from here regularly and it’s always great. They even put in the little sauce for with the samosas which is amazing - always good quality food

Tastiest Indian food I have eaten from a restaurant. Really recommend the bayleaf lamb shank, it was fully of flavour and very tender. Thank you very much for the food and welcome!

Excellent food they do get some times forget items

I ordered takeaway directly from Bayleaf and absolutely loved it! We haven't had takeaway curry for a really long time and so I searched the local FB page for recommendations. I asked for chickpeas to be added to my lamb saag which they did. Delivery was quick and food amazing. Highly recommend!!

Every time I have ordered from here or eaten in, the food has been incredible. It is above standard for Indian restaurants and I am so glad I live close enough to eat here frequently. The atmosphere inside is incredible. The only problem I've ever had is a long wait for delivery but I can't blame the restaurant for that.

Order: 1 Lamb Tikka Biryani and 1 Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi for delivery. Lamb Tikka Biryani - The Rice was actually a "Pulao" and not Biryani as claimed. I was expecting some char flavor in the Lamb Tikka (as it ought to be cooked in a tandoor but I think it was grilled on normal flame. To my surprise, there was no coating of yogurt on the lamb (which actually is a base of any tikka dish) Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi: Even though claimed as "hot" dish, it was awfully bland. The veggies accompanying the dish were not thoroughly char-grilled and I could smell the rawness of those veggies, specially capsicum. The same was the case with Chicken which was not thoroughly grilled (it was hard to chew, not succulent at all) and again yogurt coating was missing. The only saving grace was the veggie gravy accompanying the Biryani which was just okay. Yes, I understand that dishes might be tweaked to cater to a certain platter; however, I would suggest to call that out (contemporary just does not make that cut / give that impression). Overall, based on what was delivered to me, I would not recommend this place for the food. PS: I'm an expat from the region these dishes are predominantly from so well versed with how these are made; not an authority though.

Order a takeaway. Order was wrong on delivery. We order a korma and a madras was delivered resulting in my husband being unable to eat it.

Very quiet on a Monday night. Nice staff and food was delivered quickly. My vegetable korma was a bit to sweet for me but the naan was lovely. In general I would definitely recommend this restaurant😊

Overall a poor experience. Sadly both onion bhajis were rock solid like a stone. A knife and a strong wrist would not cut them in half. The Jalfraizi was lacking in taste and substance. This is the second time I've been disappointed and therefore never having a take away from them or recommending again.

Bayleaf has been our regular Indian takeaway for several years now. Always great and only ever had one mix up with the order which the manager sorted out immediately and with good grace. Really good quality and exemplary service.

What can I say? It's my go-to Indian takeaway. It's very tasty and authentic indian cuisine and reasonably priced. Also very friendly staff.

Have been to the Bayleaf several times, this was the busiest I'd seen it and made for a good atmosphere. Food was lovely and only fault was they'd forgotten to take our drinks order when we arrived.

Two of our party were delayed due to car trouble. So we asked for papadums while we waited but we were told we weren't allowed we couldn't have them until after our order was taken which is really strange. After I insisted he said he ask the manager. I have never encountered this before. Other than that the food was excellent and when our people did turn up the service was exemplary. Will definitely go back.

Having read some of the reviews on here, it was with a sense of trepidation that we went to Bayleaf with friends for a Friday night curry. I’d never been before and I must admit that some of the Trip Advisor comments had put me off a bit. Bland food, slow service and so on… I’m pleased to say that my experience was the opposite of those negative reviews. The whole time in there was absolutely delightful. Between four of us, we had a range of different starters, mains and sides. From tandoori king prawn to chicken Jalfrezi everything was hot, fresh and delicious. The staff were great, the service was quick and the food was lovely. I’d be happy to go again and would recommend to others who live local to give it a try. Thank you to everyone at Bayleaf, we had a great night.

Poor food rubbish service, and will never ever order again from this Take away which is not fit for purpose, Tikka Masala well it was not that what i got it looked like left overs from the curries the night before disgusting

Having read the last few reviews on here I was slightly anxious of booking for an evening out with friends. I needn’t have worried. I booked a table online and we were seated straight away. The staff were very friendly and we ordered drinks that came shortly afterward. We ordered, and in a timely manner, the food was brought out. It was delicious! We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We were not rushed and we chatted well after our meal was over. We were never rushed and everything was well timed for us to enjoy starters and a main with a good length of time in between. So many restaurants want you in and out these days and it was nice to relax and actually have time to enjoy the food. Will definitely be returning

I really dislike giving an average review to restaurants because it’s their livelihood but unfortunately sometimes it’s deserved. With this particular place I can’t fault the food. It was very good. But the service was awful. It was so slow and it wasn’t even busy. I was constantly trying to get the attention of the waiter and the wait for the food was far too long. They really should address this issue because as I said the food is perfect. That said I actually would go again.

What a miserable experience, yet again. It is unbelievable that waiters can be so miserable and unwelcoming. This is really just a takeaway with tables. The takeaway orders take priority over the restaurant orders - in fact it's almost like we're in the way! We have been going here since it opened but have gone elsewhere in the last year or so because of the poor experience and very average food. Thought we'd try again last night, but it's actually worse than before - if that's possible. Curries very bland and in fact all taste very similar. We have been going to the Tamarind in Downend instead over the last year and will continue to do so after last night - we cannot keep spending our money on poor service and poor food. Tamarind is a fabulous restaurant experience with great food and staff that are welcoming and want you there.

started with a bangla drink, and poppadoms, one spicy, one plain, with the 5 condiments, all good. followed with the onion bhaji, very good!! the chicken madras and keema rice, good. they were happy to provide a container to take home what i couldn't manage. treated to a hot wet tissue after, just what i needed! and a cute little mint chocolate square with the bill. nothing i can fault about the bay leaf!

Disappointed with the manners of waiter, asked for a box, he was really rude and wanted to charge £1 for a small box. Not going there anymore.

Great food, terrible service as the servers wanted to charge for take away boxes when we ordered for £45. When we confronted the manager he brought up that if we give free takeaway box now the next time we will ask for a free meal! Stay away

Absolutely shocking, ordered a naan and got rice, ruined my dinner as I only have it for the naan it is the main part, completely wasted meal grrrrr, not even that great food avoid if possible or order what you don’t want and they might send you what you do actually want…………

Whilst sitting waiting for my food I could see the Uber orders coming out of the kitchen. It seems they prioritise those orders over the customers in the restaurant. What a way to run a business.

Not curry! Samosas were off! Eaten better curry! No smell of spices. It used to be better. The sauce is bland! I will not recommend! Please hire a better chef.

Just ordered food came and is Stine cold and I can't do nothing about it... poor

Have been a customer here for years and normally recommend this place to friends due to the food being of good taste and quality. However we have noticed a gradual reduction in quantity over the past months and whilst we somewhat accepted this it was at its worst today. Amongst other items, we purchased a lamb vindaloo that actually had seven tiny pieces of meat and just floating in sauce, and a Sag Aloo that was only potatoes with a negligible amount of spinach. I telephoned the restaurant immediately and after speaking to one person, was passed on to the manager. After discussing the above with the manager, his reply was "we are cutting down and now only putting seven pieces of meat per container and he didn't know what happened to the Sag Aloo". His entire attitude was unexpected and even though I said that we were effectively paying a lot of money for curry sauce and potatoes, which is liable to end our custom, he was like 'ok' with no consideration whatsoever. Sadly after many years being a loyal customer, we will no longer be visiting or recommending this establishment.

Stupidly, in a rush, ordered from the wrong restaurant assuming the first number that popped up from my search would be my local Indian restaurant with the exact same name. I realised when I showed up to my local Indian and they didn’t have my order… haven’t tried the food but the staff were lovely and didn’t make me pay despite my food being ready. Very very sorry!

BEWARE ASH. Called restaurant for update about order which was due to take 1.5 hours. Ash was incredibly rude, shouting and constantly interrupting me. I cannot believe a restaurant owner would argue to such an extent with a paying customer. Clearly no manners or understanding of how to speak to customers. Will be spending my money elsewhere in future - rude restaurant owners need to understand that their businesses are fickle and, with the competition they face, they will easily end up failing.

Every so often it’s good to try a different Indian and following a couple of recommendations, tonight was the night we tried a takeaway from the Bayleaf in Stoke Gifford. We normally alternate between The Tamarind (Downend) and Raj Mahal (Stapleton) and both have proved to be reliably consistent over many years. We ordered our usual chicken tikka masala and lamb dhansak plus a new dish, a chicken kalia accompanied by mushroom and pilau rice and a peshwari naan. The meat was generally good but the sauces too oily, especially the chicken dishes. Taste-wise, the masala and dhansak sauces were ok but the kalia disappointingly bland. The rice was also greasier than ideal. At £40 including delivery, it represented average value for money and for the food overall, 6.5/10. Will be back to one of our normal restaurants next time…

We've been going to the Bayleaf, and getting take away from there as well for a few years, and it's a fantastic Indian. So much so that we've not really looked for other takeout places, as if we are in the mood to not cook, we'll just get a Bayleaf. The staff are very happy to be flexible with vegetarian options. The onion bajis are fantastic. Size of an apple!

Living Stoke Gifford , Bristol it is nice to have places to eat within walking distance . The quality of the food was very good and outstanding value . There are a few things that the staff could do to improve the customer experience but the quality and value of the food more than offset these . I had the Lamb Pasanda which was lovely. The restaurant provides take-always as well but I would recommend just eating in and enjoying over a couple of Kingfisher beers

Best indian around. The owner Ali prepared us a special duck dish which was not on the menu but will be soon. My daughter had a fish curry which was also amazing and I had a prawn dhansak which never disappoints. Just love this place.

A favourite of ours for dining in or takeaways. Good menu which is executed well by the chef's. Food always cooked to our taste using salt and saucy. I also must say that the prices are very competitive. Staff always very welcoming and happy for a chat, time allowing.

We have used this Restaurant for years, as a take away and a sit down restaurant. We took friends there recently and unfortunately were embarrassed by the one individual member of staff that was serving us. hence three stars. they seemed especially busy on take aways, but our member of staff did not appear to be involved with these, but gave the impression of wnting to be somewhere else.... no tasked if we wanted deserts or coffee, and has to ask for the bill several times. really disappointed to be giving this feedback we would have spoken to someone about the service but it was not appropriate whilst there. J/D

Moved to cheswick village and was unsure of where to order, so looked on our cheswick village page and everyone recommended bayleaf. So I took the plunge and ordered and it's lovely and delicious, brilliant portions and have officially found my Indian.

Food was not too bad but the attitude of the staff is not welcoming and pleasant. I think as they have lots of take away orders, they are not happy to serve the customers in dine in.

Literally the worst takeaway in Bristol. Bright pink chicken and 4 hairs in my food. Please avoid if you can guys.

This place does great food that is full of flavour and isn't overly pricy. They deliver themselves, so you don't have to rely on third party delivery companies like Deliveroo or UberEats, and the deliveries are prompt. Currently my go to place for Indian food delivered to my door.

Food is always nice, but the customer service is questionable. Especially our last experience the customer service was terrible we had the wrong order and the man on the phone was not interested and attempted to blame it on us. He has no listening skills and has such a big ego he is unable to process what you are explaining.

We are so lucky such a great restaurant is on our doorstep. They don't skimp on the portion size and the food tastes wonderful. We will go again soon and do a luck dip. It's all good.

So last night I ordered from them. Horrible food. Smelled terrible. Not fresh at all. Just after smelling it felt disgusting. And it has given me a food poisoning just after few bites. I had to throw away everything and wasted £32. Shame on you for providing such awful service.

Our second takeaway from Bayleaf- delicious food lovely and hot and you get plenty for a really good price. I had the Lamb Tikka Naga and asked for it to be extra spicy/hot and wow it certainly was - so tasty I loved it. My husband’s fave is the milder chicken tikka masala. Very good food will be coming back for more!

The 5 stars is for the food only which is undoubtedly superb, just the staff need to be more friendly and cheerful it's a shame because it let's the place down.

Food is always delicious, we always collect as it’s not far from where we live. On this occasion I was late to collect my order which we apologised for , when my teenage year old son went to collect our food one of the staff continued to moan that we were late making him feel extremely uncomfortable not very professional so not very happy on this occasion.

Picked up the order nice and hot. Nan was good, soft. But the veg korma just ruined everything. It was sweeter than a sweet dish. I bet the cook never had korma in his life. Has to throw away the entire plate.

Good food, pleasant atmosphere, service a bit slow but it was Saturday night!

We have been here a few times and previously been happy with the food. On the most recent occasion (18th Sept 2021) I was disappointed with the lack of taste in the chicken passanda (my partner tried it and agreed), although the chicken biryani was as good as usual. It seemed as if all the flavourings had been left out of the passanda by accident! I don't know if this was a bad batch or due to deliberate cost cutting, but either way it was very disappointing and felt like a waste of money. On a separate point, their customer service could definitely be improved upon. They always seem very busy but they could try to be more polite to customers turning up to make collections. Instead they have come across as quite abrupt in our experience.

My go-to for Indian takeaway, never had a bad experience. If anything they have a tendency to deliver earlier than expected, in my experiences. The bhajis are massive and the saag based starters are very good. There's a vegetable dish called Chuka Sabji Daal, which is delicious and I almost always have. They also do delicious paneer tikka as a starter or main, as a starter it's great, as a main doesn't really work so well for me because there's no sauce and gets a bit dry, if I could request anything it would be that this is turned into a paneer tikka masala. They could also do more of the existing sauce based dishes as a vegetarian option for variety, but what they do have for veggies is delicious, and ordering a saag starter, tikka paneer, one main and rice I still end up freezing half for another day. PS yes, if you're collecting, the postcode takes you to the wrong place, check the map first, that's not the restaurant's fault, in fact the first time I ordered to collect, they actually tried to phone to offer delivery as they were out near me anyway. As for the review that complained they don't include cutlery, it's not a fast food restaurant, you provide your own crockery and cutlery for a takeaway and I'd be annoyed if I found single use disposables with my take away!

A fantastic little restaurant. Very welcoming with friendly, helpful staff. The menu selection caters for all tastes. The meal we received was probably the best Asian cuisine we have ever had. Cooked to perfection and full of flavour. A restaurant we would definitely visit again.

Lovely food as always but 2 weeks running food missing from delivery which is quite irritating when you have to wait ages again to resend missing food.

We arranged for a collection on our order to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary at home - Wow, we were more than pleased with our Indian food. Nice menu selection, the quantities of each dish was ample for each person, very tasty, thoroughly enjoyed our food....

Ordered online for pickup, was ready in 20 mins, was reasonably priced and the food was excellent. Popadoms and bhajis were great as was the chicken & prawn main couses.

When I first arrived the staff were very friendly and catered for our needs extremely professionally. As a vegetarian I asked if it would be possible to have one of the chef's specials dishes originally with chicken/lamb replaced with tikka paneer and the waiter had it sorted immediately. The vegetable samosas and the overall meal was of a high quality and very flavoursome. Will definitely be returning in the future!

I will regularly try other curry houses recommended by friends or from different areas but nothing beats the bay leaf. Consistently the best curry house around for a good few years now.

Onion Barjees are amazing and tasty the tikka is creamy and delicious always great service the rice is soft and melts in your mouth the naan has just the right amount of coconut and they always give us free salad my daughter loves this restaurant...

Had to give 1 star as cant give less! We ordered takeaway and waited 2.5 hrs for it to be delivered we called the restaurant several times to be told it was on its way, wont be long etc etc... when the food finally arrived it was stone cold dry and tasteless... Manager refused to give any money off! Worst of it all is the next day myself and my partner were pretty unwell definitely down to the food, I would never order from here again and I do not recommend this takeaway/restaurant to anyone.
