It’s a shame that the staff are the rudest people in the town. They lie, make excuses and are incredibly rude. It’s a shame because this used to be the best fish and chip shop in the area but even their delivery staff say that it’s unhygienic to deliver and someone had food poisoning (according to their own delivery man who I have recorded on the door cam!)

The most amazing chips. I haven’t had chips as good as these for at least 25 years. Just like they used to be in the good old days.

Poor customer service and attitude of staff. Poor hygiene/ no hand washing particularly as constantly wiping nose on sleeve or tissue Not business like Food disappointing . Small chips , box filled , long wait , greasy Not value for money Was very good but standard dropped noticeably .

Wife ordered a large cod last night when she opened the box at home was about 9 inches long okay but only one and three quarters wide. Was more like a large fish finger. Very disappointed for the cost of over £7. Will stick to the local Chinese far better value.

I stayed in Newent (above the fish n chip shop) with friends and was delighted to find they make gluten free fish and chips. Staff very knowledgeable and confident about avoiding cross contamination. Delicious! Thoroughly recommend 😋

We stopped to get food on a long journey and this place is brilliant. They do excellent chips, not too salty, very nice fish, gluten free options, veggie options, really delicious and very helpful about timings and extras. It was busy, and I'm not surprised!

I shan’t use them again. I had my meal delivered, which made it expensive. The chips were pale and flaccid, although there were a huge number of them. The cod was suspiciously rectangular, was it frozen? The batter was undercooked and soggy. The mushy peas were ok.

We have used this chippy multiple times in the 4 months we have lived in Newent and the chips are consistently good. They remind of chips I would have as a kid. I wish they wouldn't have to reheat the pies in the microwave sometimes but I understand it's a lot of waste if they are not sold from the hot cabinet. My family attest that the fish is very good too. Portion sizes are very generous.

Popped in for some grub. Saturday evening will always be busy, but service was quick, food was hot and very nice. Staff seemed on the ball.

Chicken meat was nice however the chips were rock hard and over cooked. Possibly from the night before reheated. Therefore I'm saying the service is poor because you knowly gave me poor chips. Buyer beware.

Best fish and chips in the area with delivery to home - brilliant service and great takeaway again tonight. So lucky this is our local fish & chip shop.

Last evening of our holiday in the area, and this was the closest fish and chip shop to where we were staying. Wish we hadn’t bothered. The staff were friendly and shop clean but the fish and chips were well below average. We shared a large fish and a small chips. The large fish we would say was a standard size, definitely not large, the batter heavy and sticky inside and certainly not crispy. Chips were only OK but greasy. Overall a disappointing meal for the money, even taking into account rising prices. Would not return or recommend.

Came in to find only one other person at the counter who was already being served. Group of people in staff uniform stood at the back laughing and joking with someone not in uniform and nobody helping the one lone server. Lone server having to specifically ask them to do things which they appeared resentful to do. I was completely ignored, went to the Chinese instead. Won’t be back

Get a lovely meal from here once every couple of months. Brilliant battered cod - the only chip shop I’ve got it from which has managed to get rid of all bones! Always a massive portion of chips. Great friendly service, very welcoming. My Grandson has started getting burgers from here (cheese burger with lettuce and plain mayo! ((He tends to add other condiments when it arrives to the house))). He’s said the burgers are also 10/10. Absolutely gorgeous. The only thing I’d recommend to new-time-buyers is considering a smaller portion.. As the portions they give are absolutely massive. For me personally, I tend to have a ‘cone’ between me and my grandson.. That is while also buying other things.

Amazing fish and chips! We stayed in the flat upstairs and had it for our first night staying in Newent. The staff were all really fun and friendly and the takeaway was delicious. I’d highly recommend ☺️☺️

Good fish and chips and friendly service. Freshly fired too. We asked for a small protion of chips and even that was huge! Great selection of other food too. That said, as someone from East Yorkshire, it was not as good as our 'chippies', but that's just my opinion LOL!

Our first time ordering from here. We ordered SMALL cod and chips 2 and the amount of chips we got was obscene. I ended up throwing most of it away. Such a waste. The curry was tasteless. Peas were nice enough. Fish was OK. Some hard bits of batter on mine. Overall, not the worst chippy but could improve. We will most likely just share a portion of chips in the future and give the gravy a go.

Not impressed. Ordered veggie nuggets, half were veggie, half were chicken!!! Steak and kidney pie ordered, mince and onion pie received....... too busy chatting!! Chips were really good thou 👍

The food is nice. But they often mess up the deliveries. Had the wrong thing delivered so many times and have to phone up to make it right.

Excellent food, good portion sizes

I order from this chippy at least once a week. Very friendly people that work there and there is a great selection of choice for meat eaters and vegetarians. Tasty food at a reasonable price, and they even are able to deliver locally which is rare for a chippy! I believe there is also a garden out the back which you can eat your meal at, though I am yet to do that.

Ordered in the morning for a 5.30pm collection , as l walked into the shop my order was being put up. Excellent service. Friendly staff, one offered to carry my order back to my car for me.

Chips were good, fish is tasteless. Not the worst I’ve had, but the chips prevented a two star rating.

I think it’s disgusting to charge £4 delivery For fish and chips considering we’re only on skirts of Newent not happy, I think the chips could be cooked Extra two minutes just to get a bit of colour to them because they’re a bit anaemic at the moment have to do mouth-to-mouth the suffocation just to keep them alive The fish looks like a fish finger too, have a nice day

I just fancied a bag of chips at lunchtime while we were travelling through. When l ordered, the server went out the back for a few minutes and came back with a bucket of uncooked chips, so l knew l had to wait. Another person came from the back and kept touching her hair as they discussed an order. Eventually my chips were done and the server then licked her fingers to separate the polystyrene box, before piling it high with chips. This was such an unconscious movement l got the impression she would lick her fingers before serving each time. I told her what she had done and left without my chips. Even pre Covid, this would be unacceptable.

We ordered a portion of 6 battered mushrooms with our chips, at a cost of £2, and were presented with a surprisingly flat bag, which upon opening revealed 6 of the smallest breaded, not battered, mushrooms that we have ever been served in a chip shop. Extremely disappointing! The chips were average, nothing special, and we definitely won’t return.

Gave it a few chances now. But when I go to get it I’m exited for the crispy batter on my battered sausage but it was just soft and chewy. No crispness to it whatsoever. Good curry sauce. Chips were fine. Just the main part of my meal was the most piss poor thing that I ever brought from a takeaway.

A very poor meal. Ordered two large chips, two sausage, two sausage in batter and three gravy for four people. The chips have earned it a two star rating because they were ok and a good portion, the two sausage in batter were not very nice, both were left uneaten, soft texture and anaemic. I had to wait for the gravy’s to be made, it was a tasteless, watery, brown liquid. After a few bites we binned the whole meal, I have driven back into Newent and ordered from the food van based at the co-op.....now that was a proper meal! Hate to leave a bad review but not as much as I hate wasting £20 on garbage.

What a great find! Regularly travel to visit family. Such helpful and cheerful staff. We phoned ahead to order and to our delight they supply gluten free fish and chips! 👍👍The order was perfect and waiting for us. Was piping hot and delicious!!

Stingy with the chips and asked for plenty salt and vinegar on my chip bit of salt on top few chips couldn't even taste any vinegar. Aslo my pasty wasn't even cooked properly they just put it in a microwave and heated it up it was nasty. The battered mushrooms very greasy will never set foot in there again.

First fish and chip wonderful cooked food

Got home from holiday early Sat evening tired, so thought fish n chips would just go down a treat. Had these from Tudor before so didn't hesitate to return. We were sadly disappointed...they were honestly the worst fish and chips I can ever recall having. Quantity wise they hardly covered the bottom of the box, and quality wise...they were awful. A small piece of very dry fish covered in soggy batter with matching soggy chips. I can only think they were warmed up leftovers from lunch time. Neither of us finished our portions ...come on Tudor, no amount of friendly, helpful service can cover up poor quality food.

Fantastic fish and chip shop with a wide selection of meals to suit adults and kids. Ask about the selection of sauces for the burgers and kebabs, there a lot to choose from! Really nice food, well cooked and friendly staff.

Waited ages for food and eventualy i got it (over half hour wait) i got home it was very disappointing, not strips of lamb kabab meat it was lumps and as for the salad WEll ! think the rabbits must have ate it before thay could put it in the kabab and what i got was just chunks,awful i certainly won't be going there again

To finish off our week caravanning at Heywoods farm , we decided to order fish and chip's from the Tudor fish shop. The food was absolutely delicious and Graham very kindly delivered piping hot food for 25 happy campers. Each package had our names on so everything was super easy and rounded off a fabulous week here. I can't thank Graham and his staff enough for making our last evening so enjoyable.

Very good food, i like to use big words to make myself sound photosynthesis. i even got served watermelone but on a serious note the chip shop was very lovely and a nice warm atmosphere, the person above is obviously a troll

Worst take away ever. Thank of your worst restaurant/ take experience and take a few points off that is what you will get here. Cold, hard chips. A "battered" sausage and some cough germs. When I asked if the person could re-do my food as I didn't want cough germs, I got told to "fish off". As mentioned above we got the food home (less than 2 mins drive) and it was cold and hard. This isn't an isolated incident as a local I have used this chip shop on many occasion and each time it has been similar to the above. Each time we give it the benefit of the doubt as we seldom eat out that it may have improved. This my friend is the 3rd and final strike.
