Almond croissants at weekends, butter croissants in the weekdays. Lovely fresh croissants. Delicious! I was brought fresh , crispy croissants from truffles for my breakfast. Definitely worth waking up for !

Ordered baked potato with tuna. Takeaway. Last baked potato no garnish just plonked in a box without any salt pepper. Tuna has very little mayonnaise in it very tasteless I threw in bin after a couple of mouthfuls. Wasted money

What a waste of money! The food here is disgusting. I bought a jacket potato with cheese and beans last Friday and if I had thrown the potato at someone it would probably have killed them. As hard as a rock, cheap, nasty beans and rubbery cheese. Thank god I found the gem of a place in Partridge Green …. They knock spots off of Truffles and cheaper too!!!!

Always a very nice display outside, all is clean and tidy. The layout of the whole store could be better but if you are only popping in for pastries there's not much to worry about! I would recommend the doughnuts but everything is all very tasty overall. Glad to have you in the village.

The Portuguese custard tarts are excellent, as are the Dutch Almond thingies (whose name escapes me), and the jam doughnuts are as good as anywhere. On the downside, they pack their otherwise good bread in polythene bags, which ruins the crust within hours.

I called into Truffles, Henfield for a quick lunch. I ordered scrambled egg on toast. Well, I am not really sure what was served up but it looked like slop on a plate. It was white and insipid looking - absolutely no sign of any yolk. Was this made from real eggs or from powdered muck? If it was real eggs - the chef needs sacking! The toast underneath was sodden. I took one mouthful and new I couldn't try a second. I got a small refund for the inconvenience but nothing like the inconvenience I had of making a hasty dash to the bathroom!!!! Before Truffles (who may respond) blame this on anything else I had eaten - I had not!

Haven’t been to henfield for a while, it was freezing here. Called in for coffee and cake, service was poor, gateaux wafer thin, coffee tepid. Wasn’t advised if I had filter coffee with a slice of gateaux it would be cheaper than what I paid,££££££ Dirty tables left a long while after customers have gone I most certainly won’t be coming back to any truffles again.

We called by chance and were pleasantly surprised by the high quality scrambled eggs and egg sandwich with salad both on excellent granary bread, only small criticism the Cafe was very cold with no obvious heating on an exceptionally cold day but staff were warm and friendly which made up for temperature!

I had to go to Henfield on business and Truffles was recommended to me, I have been in another branch so assumed it would be similar. It was. It's quite a small place narrow but long, the front consists of the bakery and service counter whilst the rear is the dining room. There is seating for approximately 26 patrons. Staff were friendly, the food was good value and tasty, would recommend it. Unless there was an entrance I didn't see it is not good for people with mobility issues. There are steps into the shop area then steps up again to the dining area.

Absolutely delicious ham and cheese omelette for breakfast here. Really good value and all hot, fresh and very tasty. My husband tells me it was a fantastic cup of coffee but I had a very nice cup of Earl Grey tea. I hope to make this a once a month (at least) breakfast treat. It was a good sized menu with lots of options but the omelette was gorgeous!

Ordered two cream teas for two to be told there’s only 2 fruit scones and two cheese scones left! Hardly a cream tea! Tea was hardly full in the cup no pot of tea just half cups of boiled water which were cold by the time the disappointing scones came!! Scones are definitely not made on site were dry and stale! Scones were bought out in vegetable serving dishes?!?!?! Had to ask for plates and got a questionable reaction from the staff member! All in all will never return again!!!!

We used Truffles for a light lunch and enjoyed the experience. The food was its usual good quality and served reasonably quickly. unfortunately, as we were quite late, they had run out of choices for the soup and my wife had the last remaining serving of her choice. Inevitable and not Truffles fault, we were simply late getting there for lunch.

My wife and I have been coming here for seven years on average once a fortnight. These lovely little cafes' in a small chain deserve customer support or they will be swallowed up by these multi-nationals so that every town and village becomes a clone of the next one. If you want your latte with 2 shots of caramel served to you by a qualified 'barista' (by the way barista is only the Italian name for a bartender !!) then this cafe is not for you. That is enough of my 'soapbox' rambling now what about the cafe? Sam (the manager) and her team are always kind and friendly. most of them know the regulars by name,,...In fact Sam says to me 'do you want your usual?' ------toasty with cheese and bacon on brown just crisps, no salad, small portion of chips and a pot of tea for two. Get a table then just sit back and relax. As the shop is on a mezzanine floor, it lends itself perfectly for the bread and cakes to be served at the lower level and then walk through to the cafe up a couple of steps. They also serve take-outs as well. The area my wife and I really like is the garden at the back.............. It is far enough away from the road that you can hardly hear the road traffic. They have recently renewed the kids play area equipment which is situated at the bottom of the garden so the kids can enjoy themselves without disturbing other customers. As a suggestion, in the summer months it would be ideal if you had a small table and chairs next to the play area so that mums can keep an eye on their kids. Without making it squashed you could also add a small 2 seater table to expand the garden area. There is also some seating out at the front if you want to want to people watch. The main thing I miss is the 'Comments' book so the customers can look back at previous entries and Sam could see if there are any areas in which to improve. I hope senior management will take note. The place is obviously been discovered by some professionals as I now see more laptops being used each time I go there. What else can I say...not a lot...if you like these small cafes as much as I do give it a try as you won't be disappointed!

Went with my hubby today, I had the Cheese & Broccoli bake special,k which was not special at all, - far too much cheese, the oil from the cheese was swimming on top, I could count the small pieces of broccoli and the potatoes included had some green on them. When I complained, I was informed they would inform head office, as this meal came in premade. - Not impressed. My Hubby had Cheese and Onion omelette, not a lot of cheese, mostly onion., the salads with both meals were dry & tasteless. Doubt we will go back!

We had been invited to meet in Henfield as a central point. Truffles is unmissable on the High Street of this rather small place, with fairly easy general car parking arrangements.A lovely bakery at the front, past which a corridor led up several steps to the ordering area followed by an indoor and outdoor seating area.Any items could be selected from the bakery and transferred to the ordering area where there was even more choice. We enjoyed a variety of cakes, teas and coffees and spent a very happy hour or so. Staff were very helpful, busying about and customers coming and going.Would certainly be happy to visit again. Would recommend to anyone not sure where to stop.Toilets were adequate.

Just the job if you want to sidestep the big faceless coffee chains, we had 45 mins to wait for a train and came across Truffles one morning where the cheerful and charming staff were making up lunch orders for collection yet still had time to do table service. We had a coffee each and the best custard tarts ever, thin crisp pastry with a creamy nutmeg sprinkled filling, There's a branch in Burgess Hill where I've bought a brownie, and a takeaway shop by one of the petrol stations in Haywards Heath, where the smell of bacon sometimes wafts out on the breeze in the early mornings

My wife and I have been going to Truffles at Henfield for over 5 years roughly once a fortnight. The place has a lot of regulars like us which must say something about satisfied customers. The place has an excellent bakery and popular ' sandwich take out' at the front followed by the cafe and the outside garden at the back. Value for money and quality of food are good and this is supported very well by the friendly staff which really make the visit worthwhile. They have just started doing loyalty and discount cards as well. There are 4 or 5 other Truffles around the local villages-all of which I have visited when I use to be 'on the road' for my job-Henfield is definitely the best one.In the summer, the garden is so far away from the main road that you cannot here the traffic so it's very relaxing. I really enjoy this style of cafe which is not in a large chain and is a little old fashioned so it get's my support every time. If you like the style of the international coffee shops then this is not for you. One of the previous comments made was that it was a little cold-I am sure that the heating would have been turned up if one of the staff had been asked.

Scruffy interior - not clean. We ordered lunch and sat outside. Was given a box of cutlery condiments with various sauces to carry to our table outside. , the dispenser lid of the mustard was black with ancient sticky dried on mustard and dirt. i told the one member of staff who apologised, took it away, threw it in the bin behind the bar, but did not replace . No salt or pepper. Waited nearly an hour to be served.. food was dumped on our table with no apology. My sea bass was served swimming in oil. No waiting on tables ourside so not easy to complain after such a long wait. Moved inside as we were cold and asked for a coffee - the same one member of staff who was behind the bar as well as serving food, looked shocked and seemed nervous of such a request but agreed to try to make us one coffee and one tea but then came to our table o say she couldn't work the machine - so no hot drinks!! We left and will not be returning.i regretted paying up front for such a poorly cooked and presented and delayed lunch.

The atmosphere was welcoming warm and friendly. The menu was designed to suit everyone’s taste. We both had Stilton and broccoli soup which was very tasty and sufficient as a starter. The haddock and triple cooked chips were devine. The batter was light and tasty. The whole meal was superb and well priced. Sadly the heavens opened, but the bar manager went the extra mile by driving us back to our hotel in the village. What more could you ask for? British hospitality at its best. We certainly didn’t expect such kindness and compassion. Thank you SO much.
