The White Horse Inn in Horsham

Popped in here for lunch after visiting a nearby nature reserve. Very impressed with the food and the steak and ale pie were probably the best i have ever tasted and generos portions.The meals were delicious and the food was hot when served. It was also excellent value and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Hope to pop back there some time .

Lovely pub, found after being bitterly disappointed with another lacking food and real ales. The White Horse offered a warm welcome, delicious Sunday roast, choice of ales and excellent service.

Nice friendly pub with 2 cosy open fires. Dog friendly too.

I've eaten here twice in the past few weeks and both times it was incredible. The food is exceptional, the staff are wonderful and the atmosphere was perfect, getting cosy by the fire. I highly recommend eating here and if you do, check the specials board, they have a great chef who cooks everything beautifully

What a wonderful place. Beautiful atmosphere and such friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food prepared from scratch including a fabulous tasty vegan meal. We will definitely return regularly 😊👍.

Terrific service! Even when one of the food items wasn't 100% right, they bent over backward to put things right and kept checking back to make sure we were happy. Our host was warm and friendly, so a huge thank you to him.

Nice food, fitted 6 in straight away. Friendly staff. Service was a little slow but it was a Monday evening.

First time visiting Called in on a late warm and sunny Monday afternoon when recommended as a place to enjoy a cold Guinness and we thank Jack for the recommendation. Young lady behind the bar was very polite, efficent and friendly The Guinness was as good as it gets Nice comfortable atmosphere in the bar area Outside there's a decent size garden with plenty of seating to sit and enjoy the weather Although we didn't have time to sample the food the menu looked reasonably priced with plenty of choices They also have a specials board. We are both looking forward to a return visit to enjoy the cold Guinness and to sample some of the food. Thanks to Jack Atherton for the recommendation and we also enjoyed the company Cheers.

Worst pub experience ever. Service was poor took long to take our order and food was burnt when it finally arrived. Not friendly atmosphere. If you are looking for the George Floyd treatment here is the right place to find it.

Lovely lunch! Good menu selection considering we visited on a Sunday. Food arrived piping hot and in a timely manner. Well stocked bar with a good selection of drinks. Attentive and friendly staff. Would definitely return.

Staff unaware of what was in dishes - at least in mine. I asked for a camomile tea after the meal, no camomile - would I like peppermint. I gave a reluctant ok but what I received was probably green tea. Definitely not peppermint. They ran out of sea bass although we were there fairly early (7 Pm). Nice atmosphere and handy for where we were staying, but I for one was disappointed.

OK for a drink but not for lunch. £25 for starter and main so you're talking restaurant prices for frozen scampi or an average burger with an excess of chips/fries to cover for the fact there's no other accompaniments. Long waits for food and not asked if we enjoyed it as perhaps they know it's overpriced. For comparison you can get 2 top notch courses from an award winning chef for £28 at the Parsons Table in Arundel. Nice cosy pub for a few drinks though.

One of my favourite pubs. We walk through the fields from Pulborough to get here and it's always a joy. Dogs welcome. Good seating outside and cosy in cold weather. Decent food, too.

We found the service here to to be quite disappointing. we arrived at 12:15 for lunch and were shown to a table. The pub wasn’t busy, maybe 2-3 other tables were taken up. No one brought us over any menus so after 25 minutes we asked for them. 30 minutes later we had to ask if we could order some food. 45 minutes later the food arrived. We then had to ask the bill which took 25 mins to come, and the card machine another 15 minutes. At no point during our time there did anyone ask if we wanted another drink or if everything was ok - we had to call out for the waiter for literally everything! Didn’t feel like they wanted our business so won’t go back.

This was our first time to this really buzzy pub,we were made very welcome by james the bar manager, the food was good but we wished we had had the fish and chips because it looked fabulous.

Not so much a review of the food or service, moreover the decency of James the Manager. After enormous pot hole K.O'd our back left tyre on the road outside, James helped us jack up our vehicle in the car park!

Lovely pub but small bar area means your subject to whoever else is on there...unfortunately for our visit a loud/crude mouth with three kids spoilt our visit (but nothing the staff would be able to fix)

Had a brilliant Sunday lunch today celebrating my daughters birthday 🎂 the beef was cooked to perfection mmm, grandsons burger was enormous and Granddaughter scampi was perfect. Banoffee pies for desert. Service impeccable. Thank you for a superb lunch

Great country pub with a nice beer garden. We were a group of 7ppl for Sunday lunch. Place was busy, but we got out table immediately and service was good. Food was really nice and there was a good selection of beers and wines etc. Would recommend.

Had a lovely weekday lunch here with four other family members, staff were all very friendly and helpful, even our dog was made to feel welcome. Food was excellent, very good portion sizes, especially the fish and chips, they were massive! And unlike other local pubs it was very reasonably priced, would definitely recommend going there if you’re in the Pulborough area and fancy a visit to a country pub.

Had lunch there today and had lobster main with a very fresh banofee pie for dessert. Nice place and friendly service portions where of a large size which suited me fine , well done everyone.

What a change to visit a pub where the staff seem genuinely pleased to see you. Greeted with a smile and enthusiasm and they really couldn’t do enough to find me a seat in the garden, brought the specials boards out to my table etc. It really does make a difference. And I was on my own (experience shows that establishments are normally less than enthusiastic about the single diner). And the food was great and good value.

I took a friend who I was staying on a overnight visit and I took him here. I had not eaten here for several years, though I had frequented the beer garden. I had made a reservation as they advised me to when I contacted them, however it was pretty quiet. We sat outside, we had some London Pride, which was good. The service was friendly and quick. I had a Haddockk and Chips, the fis was a generous portion, very well cooked and the chips as traditional with a take away were in a great proof separate bag, and there were plenty of these thick chips. A very enjoyable lunch.

First visit to a pub in ages and our party of 4 were Looked after really well by friendly staff who accomodated our individual needs without fuss. Mixed smoke fish stater and main course. 2 special burgers one of them to suit my needs no garnish and a Scampi all with fries or proper chips. I pushed the boat out and had the lemon merangue ice cream which was a luxury as i am type 2. A shot of insulin sorted it out. Good value and good beer. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

Went here with a large group of friends for food and drinks. Proper Country pub with oak beams, slate floors, open fire etc.... Great seating areas both in and outside in a nice courtyard and garden.Good range of real ales. Hophead was on! I ordered their special cheeseburger and I wasn't disappointed. Excellent home made burger with home made coleslaw on the side. Friends had similar to me and one the seafood platter which was also excellent. Great Country boozer, excellent food. Chef came out to speak with us. OK I know his father! Great pub.

Very enjoyable Sunday lunch with friends in the garden - despite the cold. Portions are generous and the vegetables come separately which is so much better for sharing. I had the last pork (slight niggle as I asked for the gravy on the side and it was served in the plate), friends had beef and a burger. We were all completely full. Thanks too for the blankets.

Generous portions of good standard pub fare, a good atmosphere and friendly staff but a very long wait,over an hour for the food, despite the main midday rush being over. A bit pricey which could be due to covid business impact but overall a very enjoyable visit hence the 4 stars .

A smash hit with us and fish and chips as good as any, washed down with Malbec of exquisite taste

Very disappointing. We visited the first day of reopening after being closed for nearly 5 months. There was very little covid safety at all with many members of staff not wearing masks, hugging customers and at several points they sat down at tables to enjoy a drink and a cigarette whilst on the job. Absolutely disgraceful. The tables were not socially distanced at all and I was sat about 10cm away from 3 other tables. The whole experience left us feeling very uncomfortable. The food was nice but until they start taking this global pandemic seriously, we will not be returning.

We had a great takeaway Sunday roast this weekend. It really lovely. Roast pork and a nut roast with all the trimmings and flavour we’ve come to expect from The White Horse. Supporting local business and having a trouble free beautiful lunch too! We will be ordering from here again.

I've been meaning to write a review for this since my first lunch there a few weeks back. I think there are pubs that get it and pubs that don't and the White Horse is definitely one that does! We met for a lovely lunch, served with a smile, in a covid compliant way and all in all the experience was fab and we'll definitely be booking in for another lunch soon. As a side note, for all those reviewers out there who are on their high horses about whether a business is 100% covid compliant or not, two things, Firstly the rules and regulations are so complicated and changeable that quite how you expect businesses to be adhere I do not know. Secondly if you're so concerned (as you appear to be) about Covid, then why on earth are you risking going out at all? I assume you go to the supermarket, or a local shop, or a school? Stop trying to rain on everyone else's parade and get on with your own lives! Rant over. Back to the White Horse - if you want fab food, covid compliance and a lovely atmosphere then this is the place for you.

Had a meal with my daughter and partner on the spur of the moment.. It was just before the kitchen was closing so limited menu but staff accomadating and friendly atmosphere. Food was lovely we ordered scampi and chips and a portion of white bait.. Reasonably priced as well... I think its around my third time of eating there..

Great food and great service, we came here regularly before lockdown as it was a local favourite.

Quality of food and Service has always been good but today for six of us it really excelled. Two servings of King Prawns were tasty and the other four diferent dishes were also excellent.

2nd time coming here, we first came here a year ago and the standards are as high as ever with food. We got the sirloin sunday roast and a 1/4 slow cooked lamb shoulder with all the trimmings. My god the portions were huge and every element of the meal was delicious from the giant yorkshires to the carrot and swede mash. They are very generous with their meat portions which is fantastic as the meat is tender and cooked to perfection. Could not recommend this place more. We always look for a good roast both at home in London and away and this is the best we have found. The staff are friendly and hardworking so you will be well looked after.

We booked a table last Friday early evening after much thought re location and likelihood of strict adherence to Covid rules. Not our first visit by the way. Although the food was good and staff attentive we were shocked at the lack of social distancing to the back of the restaurant. My husband (and another guest) put their masks on to leave the table and go to the toilets. There was such a large group congregating, not seated or in any way social distancing, that one of the crowd had to ask others to stand aside so that my husband could get through! We were absolutely shocked at the blatant disregard of Covid rules. We haven't reported it but feel a mention on Trip Advisor may help to warn others. Beware.

Superb Sunday lunch. Food and beer were excellent. Friendly service with good COVID arrangements.

We booked a table in restaurant for lunch. They had a specials board for starters and mains. The smoked Salmon starter was lovely, with the addition of pickled cucumber, garnishes and rustic bread. My husband chose Roast beef and all the trimmings, which he declared was delicious. Pink in centre and nicely cooked. My choice of home made Game pie was fabulous. A really rich meaty filling with a generous amount of red wine gravy and about 5 different vegetables. All served very hot! We shared the Eton mess dessert, which was large enough for 2 and again, delicious, with lots of ripe berries and meringue. Very impressed with the food and attentive waiting staff.

Big portions but limited flavour. Need to fine tune their business plan to reach their true potential.

Barely any Covid training, guidelines or social distancing adhered to. Pretty much ignored the whole thing. Food and service was OK but long waits.

At short notice we arranged to eat at The White Horse, they had warned us that 8.30pm would be the earliest that they could fit us in and I can see why - a great pub and great food. We arrived a little early but they still made us very welcome. Very friendly staff, especially James who looked after us all evening, and the chef who we met later - thank you both! Between us we had the Camembert starter, gourmet burgers, fish and chips and risotto, all of which were excellent and fair prices. We wouldn't hesitate to go back if we are in the area again.
