Not been here before, what a lovely venue. Food was delicious, well presented and served by a lovely friendly server. It is rare I leave food but I could not of eaten another bite. The lovely gentle piano music in the background was so nice and relaxing. We eill definately be returning here.

Called for lunch this week, I don't know why but never been before even though we've always known about it. What a lovely find. Excellent food at a fair price. Lovely environment and nice staff. We will definitely return

See hotel review for a full review. The menu is large and varied that should cover all tastes. I feel the starters and desserts however are expensive. The food quality was good but £6.95 for a dessert [£8.95 for the cheese plate] especially with the portion size, is excessive. The cheapest wine apart from the special starts at £16.95. The staff was attentive and helpful nothing was too much for them.

Went here Friday for a lunch for a party of six. The starter was okay, but not much could go wrong with smoked salmon and prawns - although this was on a warm plate. The lamb shank roast dinner was utterly appalling. Frozen sprouts and frozen roast potatoes and the lamb shank was just tasteless shredded lamb. All of this covered in what was clearly gravy made from granules. After a deflated pastry thing that was described as a pear and almond tart, I was well and truly underwhelmed and felt totally mocked with the poor quality food. Lovely venue though and the servers were excellent, it's just a shame that the management put profit over customer experience. If you put more emphasis on customer experience, you may get more custom. It was very quiet there for a Friday so close to Christmas.

The food and the service was excelent, i will be going back as often as im able. i just spent a weekend at the hotel and had three evening meals and one lunch. i haven't got a bad word to say about any of it. the meals were truly stunning

We had lunch there, it was just fabulous. Also stayed overnight and the breakfast was included, what a choice for breakfast, the staff are just so accommodating

Great welcome and very attentive service by happy people. Called for lunch and was offered a full menu option should we require greater choice of food. We chose the Xmas set menu as it is that time of year. The starters of mushrooms and a seafood cocktail were a very acceptable first course. Mains were a turkey or beef dinner served plated which I don't like (I prefer to help myself from tureens). The quantity and presentation was good and both dishes again tasted flavoursome. Whilst the cheesecake sweet was very nice the xmas pudding was a disaster, overcooked and dried out, comparable to hard and tough sticky toffee. Overall the meal was very enjoyable and we would certainly return next year. The total bill for our xmas lunch including coffee was £56 including drinks, one of which was deducted due to the overcooked pudding. Overall a friendly and efficient venue.

Good choice of dishes, reasonably priced. Very good sized portions and very tasty. There was something for all tastes from snacks to celebration meals.

Nice atmosphere with just enough happening but quiet so you can chat. Service was very good indeed, with attentive staff who were friendly and helpful. This evening we enjoyed an excellent starter of Diplomat mushrooms - recommended for taste, quantity, and presentation. Then on to a main course of Braised Lamb which my wife pronounced delicious and Lemon Chicken with Dauphinoise potatoes for me that was truly succulent and delicious too. No space for dessert, but a very good americano coffee finished our meal well. Recommended.

The cockles and lava bread made an excellent starter and the rib-eye steaks were excellent (although not available on our first evening).

The quality of the food here was stunning. The service was excellent. starters and maincourse were well cooked and presented. The only gripe would be the puddings were not quite as exemplary. Good but not excellent

Staff were excellent and made the night particularly the Greek waitress who kept us well entertained and attentive service. Try the cockles and laverbread starter it is to die for!

Excellent food at a very good price and attentive Staff. Very helpful with disabled husband and even though a function on, were able to offer us good service and food.

Well cooked food, nicely presented - obviously fresh and delicious ingredients. Menu limited but sauces and dressings changed food into something special. Staff friendly and conscientious.

Lots of choice, although a typical restaurant attached to a hotel. Tends to be a bit overpriced, but have not had a bad meal there at all. Dated decor in all except the conservatory, but nevertheless a tidy and clean venue. Typically frequented by those coach trips for pensioners!

I was looking for food on a Sunday afternoon and stumbled upon Trubshaws. At first I was not optimistic as it appeared to be linked to the Best Western Hotel which is not famed for fine dining. The first hint of excellence came when I noticed that the place was very busy full of locals.

Had Sunday lunch .The vegetables were so overcooked or had been left lying about too long.Waited for ages for the server to come from the kitchen to serve us,were left just standing at the carvery.

Visitamos este hotel para un almuerzo rápido y nos quedamos impresionados con el servicio y la calidad de la comida que se sirve. Teníamos el menú del bar que tenía una amplia selección. Hubiéramos preferido que tenía queso sándwich bacalao rebozado en cerveza y no me decepcionó. El pescado era muy fresca y el bateador muy ligero. Un hallazgo afortunado para dos viajeros Llanelli no te saldría con hambre

I went with friends on a Saturday night, excellent food and service. Very accommodating with vegetarian food. Will definitely make this a regular.

We were at the Diplomat Hotel for 2 nights for the new years celebrations and as an evening meal was included in the room rate we dined here on delicious 16oz steak and equally good sautéed prawn main course dishes, served by the effervescent, friendly, attentive restaurant supervisor Izabel.For dessert we chose the scrumptious & quality Welsh cheeseboard followed by coffee in the lounge.We'll certainly be returning again in the near future.

The new rooms at the diplomat are something else top class and the best hotel rooms in south wales , also the hotel offers great food and facilities, fantastic service from a family run business so different to all the chains

Came here for Sunday Lunch with my Mum, Dad and Son for my mum's birthday treat. The hotel is very nicely presented with a very friendly atmosphere. All staff were friendly and happy. My son had a lovely bubble and squeak starter topped with a perfectly cooked poached egg. We then all had the carvery lunch with a choice of Turkey, Beef and Honey Glazed Ham. I went for all three topped with a Yorkshire pudding. The meat portions were very generous, you could then select your own vegetables which included roast potatoes, parsnips, crushed swede, cauliflower cheese, carrots, green beans, mashed potato and white cabbage. The meats and vegetables were all very good quality and well cooked, accompaniments included cranberry sauce, mustard, mint sauce an horseradish with gravy in a pot which you could pour at the carvery with a gravy jug also brought to the table. All in all quality and quantity, a great Sunday lunch, would highly recommend.

Was'nt very impressed with the hotel, stayed in room which was above the pool & sauna area so the room was very warm by the time I went to my room you could feel the heat through the carpet. But the restaurant was good menu varied and the staff very friendly and obliging . Hotel needs a little updating

Really enjoyed our meal the Best Western Diplomat - Warm Tandoori Salad, Cockles in Spring Roll, Duck fillets in Cherry Sauce and Crepes and Diplomat Sundae to finish - excellent food and customer service

We have had Sunday lunch on several occasions and the food and staff are very good. I imagine the balance of investing money to refurb has to be set against the increase in customers. However, the room is a little old fashioned and you do not feel like hanging around much after the meal.

My daughter booked a table for us tonight and it was the worst meal I've ever had!! No butter with soup and bread, asked for some but it never came. Steak was the fattiest rubbish I've ever seen and to top it off garlic bread had no butter on it! I don't like to complain but on this occasion told the waitress who apologised but charged us full price for the lot!! Nearly £70!!!! Spoilt our evening!!! Never again!!! Worst Mother's Day meal ever!!!

WOW, absolutely fantastic. For once in my life I'me stumped for words. At last somewhere to enjoy a really fabulous meal in Llanelli. If you don't mind paying that bit extra then this is the place to dine. Really nice atmosphere, wonderful service and food to die for. Our waiter for the night was Sheldon, nothing was too much for him, so polite and helpful.

The tables were well laid out; food was good and the service was excellent. The restaurant had a couple of tables on a platform which could be a place for a romantic dinner for just two persons. The buffet laid on the other end was well spread out.

Booked here for a meal, on arrival the restaurant was booked out for a reception & there was a Jazz Festival on. We were seated in what is a small meeting/conference room. Recommend the tapas to start which will easily do 2-4 with bread. Our daughter 12 likes chicken but without sauces which they spoke to the chef about & he accommodated her even on a busy night. My hubby & I had the matured sirloin steak with dauphinois potatoes. Steak was cooked as we requested & was delicious. Son 14 had chips with his steak that were home made & he wolfed the lot. We didn't have room for desert or coffee's. Meal for four with beer & soft drinks was just over £90 which was very reasonable.

The St Valentine's Dinner is served in The Conservatory, a light airy place to eat. This was our second year at this event and both meals were five star. We were offered a glass of champagne on arrival and ordered from a good menu of well chosen starters, mains and desserts, follwed by cheese and biscuits. The food was excellent and because the dining room was decorated with a valentine theme - balloons and flowers etc we really felt the meal was a quite special occasion. We'll definitely be back again next year.
