One night stay 7th Nov 2023 - £91, adding dinner for two with two drinks from the bar, total £137. Quite expensive for an ordinary pub. Hotel? – It’s more a pub with rooms, but it was well run and they give a discount for booking direct. The bar is popular with locals and has a wide selection of beers. We found the staff polite and attentive, we had dinner in the restaurant, which is at one end of the bar. Our room with ensuite, on the top floor, was quite simple but very clean with TV, new carpet and furnishings and appeared to have been recently refurbished. It had USB outlets in the wall socket, warm central heating and a nice shower. It overlooked the main street but there was no noise from people or traffic. The bed with lovely clean linen and a duvet was comfortable with soft pillows and we had a good night’s sleep. Freshly cooked breakfast was excellent – the eggs were from the cook’s own hens - and the fresh coffee was outstandingly good. Street parking free from 5.30 pm to 9.30 am, if you can find a space Downside: the overhead security ceiling light lit the room with a dim green light all night and could not be turned off. The WiFi would not connect despite asking the staff for help.

Went here today for Sunday lunch for the first time. Group of 12 family, 4 children and 8 adults. Service was good. Surroundings seemed very nice, modern looking pub and eating area. When food arrived it looked lovely. Huge slices of meat which was very well cooked, lots of different veg with lots of taste and side dishes of roast potatoes, roared carrots and parsnips and cauliflower cheese. £15 for the meal, but was good value as it was so nice. We were all stuffed, and the cats appreciated the left over beef!!! We'll be back!!!

I call here every week for a few pints, it has to be the nicest pub in Carmarthen in my opinion.The Evan Evans Cwrw is always top notch.Have food couple of times a month and it's lovely. Staff are friendly. Spotlessly clean pub.

Visited here twice for lunch while we were recently in Wales and was impressed both times. The staff are friendly and we felt welcome. The food was tasty and very substantial. On our second visit I had a jacket potato and it was just perfect.....with loads of filling too! Would happily return here when back in the area.

Stayed here for one night and the room was really nice. Comfy bed and soft pillows and duvet, got a good night's sleep here. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also delicious. Only comment would be the shower pressure could have been better, shower hose leaked a bit but otherwise did the job. Would stay again.

Sunday roast £15, not the cheapest bit very good quality, extremely tasty and enormous portions. Took half home for next day. The best, most buttery mashed spuds I have had in a long time. Decent price on drinks. Really lovely staff. Nice atmosphere. 100%recommend.

Cannot express my disappointment of the attitude of the staff when I complained that the chicken was partly raw, no apologies. Some of the staff are just plain rude.

We stayed in room no. 8 upstairs. The room was clean and actually quite nice but we had no hot water. We complained and had hot water the following morning but for the next 2 evenings it was back to being cold. Had one meal there during our 3 night stay and to be honest it was value for money and will give it 3 stars. Would we stay there again - maybe!

We held our wedding reception meal at the Rose last weekend and I couldn’t recommend it more highly enough if I tried! Jess was amazing and helped so much with the prior organisation and planning. Emma and the staff on the night were incredible and it all went so smoothly. The food was fantastic – 41 meals and desserts come out quickly: all hot, delicious and exactly what we ordered (with some very fussy eaters). Every single one of our guests have told us how beautiful their meal was without a single complaint. MASSIVE compliments to the chef and kitchen staff. Guests also booked five rooms, which were all spotless and lovely. I can’t thank you all enough for everything you did for us. I appreciate we were a handful and very worse for wear at the end of the night, but you coped admirably. We will definitely return to the Rose regularly for meals and overnight stays. It was amazing and you all made a special day even more wonderful for us all. Lots of love – Sian and Menna xxx

We stayed for a couple of nights with my sister and her husband and we’re in room numbers 5&6, both rooms were clean, showers nice hot water and the staff were very helpful and friendly. They made us hot Welsh cakes and they were very tasty. Highly Recommend this hotel

We stayed one night and had both breakfast and dinner. We needed to catch the train before breakfast time started, and without prior notification, they were so nice as to make sure we had something to eat. Our room was simple and clean. We would highly recommend this place for both the stay and the excellent meals.

My husband had raved about the food here since visiting with his work in December and tonight was the first chance we had to go together for a meal. Really didn't disappoint, lovely service, delicious food and all very reasonable. Busy for a week night but not crowded or noisy.

Food was incredible with massive portions! Everything freshly cooked and quality ingredients used. Children had sausages, mash, peas and gravy. Huge kids portions! But the best thing… quality ingredients used for the kids meals also!! So many establishments these days provide poor quality ingredients for the kids meals so I was so pleased to see butcher sausages with real mash and rich gravy on the children’s plates!! Chef obviously has high expectations for its food and it certainly pays off! Lovely, friendly staff. Will definitely be returning again!!

An old inn, popular with locals. Family run. Food & beer good. bedrooms comfortable. Very helpful & friendly staff. There is no parking outside so the best place to park is at the Shopping Centre St Catherine St, Carmarthen SA31 1GA. £7.50 for 24 hours. Just drive in and park - plenty of spaces. When you want to leave, type in your car registration and pay by credit card.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Very friendly and welcoming, and room was stylish. Ate here both nights and enjoyed delicious home cooking. My partner was also impressed by their real ales. We believe it is family-run and it certainly doesn't feel like a chain pub.

We popped into the Rose and Crown on our way through to Broad Haven. We ordered a chorizo and holoumi Salad and Rose Gourmet Burger with extra onion rings and when it came we both where pleasantly surprised. My salad was delicious and very tasty...

The staff went out of their way to help me and were very sociable. Breakfast was also very good. The cold water tap needed to be on for a couple of minutes before it was not warm or hot anymore in the en suite. There was also no free parking until after 6pm which was a little hassle as you needed change for the machine too. Rooms can get quite hot and so there is a trade off with the open window to cool the room and subsequently the noise of the traffic immediately outside the window. I sleep like a log so this didn’t bother me!

Stayed here for a night last night. Arrived yesterday afternoon to a warm welcome from the lovely staff, traditional pub setting with a modern feel. We had lunch the Steak & Ale pie was delicious, full of meat and oozing with flavour, accompanied with big chunky chips. Great selection of drinks at the bar, great atmosphere. We had room 1 at the front of the building and it was perfect. A comfy double bed, en suite, tea & coffee making facilities. The room was spotless. Just when I thought we couldn’t praise them anymore we mistakenly turned up a little late for breakfast ( my error, misread the breakfast times on the website ) They were nothing but accommodating served us lovely coffee with a stunning home made welsh cake ( nice touch ) and then hand on heart the nicest traditional cooked breakfast I’ve ever had. The staff here work hard and are so welcoming, every one of them. No plans to stay in Carmarthen as yet but if we return there’s only one place we will be staying The Rose & Crown. Thank you for making our stay a good one. Would highly recommend.

Visited recently as I knew it had been renovated and I couldn't fault the service we had, comfy and light atmosphere and all the favourites on the menu but felt like there was an extra added touch to each meal to stand out. Delicious and speedy service. The desserts were also lovely and beautifully presented.

Couldn’t recommend enough the food was outstanding and big portions, the staff are some of the friendliest I have met, and the interior is lovely light and fresh! Never been before but will absolutely be returning again, loved it!

Breakfast is varied and cooked to order and includes the breakfast bacon sarnie, which was delicious. The evening menu has a varied selection and the fish and chips was excellent and reasonable value at £11.50. Service was very good and swift.

We, a group of 8 came here for dinner. The waitress was very polite and told us there would be a little wait for food as they had another large group which was very nice to be informed instead of just wondering whats taking so long! The food was reasonably priced £10 for my veggie curry which was very tasty! The portion sizes where large too. They could do with a few more veggie option though. Everyone enjoyed there meals, I would recommend.

Just had our Christmas meal at the Rose and Crown and would definitely recommend.

We had our Xmas do here last night and had a fab night, we always START our XMAS party gatherings here, but this year had the party here also, I must say hat our team agree that this was by far the best meal we have had in recent years...….than to the team at the Rose n Crown from all at Bassetts Citroen..

Came here for a meal with friends. There were about 13 of us and we’d all pre-ordered our food, but even then it was a shambles. The food was very slow to come out. I was one of the first people to get my meal. Well, food anyway - it wasn’t actually my full meal but more about that in a minute. By the time the last people to receive their meals got their food, some had almost finished their meals. I ordered lasagne and chips. My lasagne came quickly, however, my chips didn’t come until AFTER I’d finished my lasagne! I’d also ordered a garlic bread side, which came out after my chips and was burnt. When the bill came, I saw I’d been charged for garlic bread with cheese, which I didn’t have and was almost twice the price of garlic bread without cheese! The atmosphere wasn’t great as it’s a proper drinkers pub with a place to eat at the back. It was very rowdy, with drinkers stood at the bar, making it very difficult to get a drink. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Welcoming accessible staff. Food superb. Had the cauliflower soup . Husband had chicken in mushroom sauce. Perfect. Fudge and caramel sauce sundae wow.2 steps to dining area. Bar staff assisted me. So helpful. Plenty of seating on one level. Accessible toilet on this level.

We visited this pub for a breakfast to nurse our hangovers from a weekend in Tenby . We ordered food which wasn’t cheap and we were the only ones in the restaraunt waiting . The toast came out burnt and hard so asked for some more . Bacon and hash browns very oily and one of the hash browns had some sort of mould in. Beans were cold and tea was weak. If we hadn’t been so hungry and hungover I would of walked out . Staff miserable and unfriendly . Avoid

My youngest son and I called in yesterday for lunch. We were greeted by the lovely Amanda, who couldn't do enough for us. She chatted to us as we waited for food and brought our drinks over to us. As usual the food was lovely and served quickly. I would recommend this little gem of a pub/restaurant to anyone.

Popped in one sat lunchtime after work for a burger and a beer. Wow, the size of the plate of food was amazing, So much I couldn't manage all of it, but it was well prepared and tasted very good.

The Full Welsh Breakfast was lovely, although not a fan of fried bread but apart from that it was a nice enjoyable meal and would recommend this establishment for the purpose of a meal.
