Firstly service is fantastic. Really attentive and polite. We ordered the set menu so had a good sized platter of starters. I did find the satay sauce not very peanut-y. Prawn toast was really nice as I’m not usually keen on that. We then were brought out massive amounts of dishes. We are good eaters but we did leave a fair bit. The servings are generous and I can’t remember all the dish names but we had a Thai green curry, beef dish, prawn dish, noodle & beansprout dish and jasmine rice. Extremely good value for what we had and drinks were good too.

Nestled a bit off the beaten path in Bicester, Cabbages & Condoms is a hidden gem for those in search of Thai cuisine. The restaurant itself boasts a charming and inviting atmosphere, making it a delightful spot to dine, albeit easy to miss if you're not on the lookout. As a fan of Thai food, I had high hopes and the menu certainly offered all the traditional dishes you'd expect. The service here was lovely, with attentive and friendly staff, which added a nice touch to the dining experience. We started with a mixed appetiser, followed by a Thai green curry, and rounded off with some desserts. The portion sizes were reasonable across the board. However, the food quality varied; while the main dishes were good—very average to slightly above average—the papaya salad was a bit of a letdown. It seemed a little tired, perhaps not as fresh as one would hope for, which was a disappointment given its usual vibrancy in flavor and texture. Overall, Cabbages & Condoms offers a decent dining experience with some hits and misses. It’s worth a visit if you're in the area and craving Thai, just keep your expectations in check regarding some of the dishes.

Honestly, I don't know how this place managed to maintain it's good reputation for such a long time. Do not bother with tofu; cardboard sheets, barely dressed in any sauce. Sticky rice so dry (and served in a plastic bag), main dishes served with no sauce at all. I enjoyed a generous leaf of coriander. No, I do not recommend.

SACK THE CHEF!!!! I can't comment on the atmosphere as we had a home delivery via Uber. I love Thai so saw they did Thai food but my god the chef absolutely destroyed the chicken in the penang curry. The flavour was lovely though. By far the worst chicken I've ever had in my 40 odd years. It was an insult to send that out, it was so drybit was actually hard to eat. New customer, 1st order and 100% won't be retuning to order from here. How hard is it to cook chicken properly?

It wasn’t as quite bad as some of the horror stories I’ve read on here (service was ok), however the meal was disappointing and overpriced. The chicken was a strange texture, certainly not fresh and some of it looked off. Veg was fresh, but there wasn’t a huge amount of flavour to the meal and quite dry. Doesn’t compare to what I had in their branches in Thailand. It didn’t come with rice you had to order that separately - bit cheeky. I’d hoped this would be authentic Thai food but sadly it’s a poor immitation at inflated prices.

Nice surroundings, pleasant staff until you give them you honest opinion of the food let alone not order dessert 😂. My portion was a good size and looked pleasant to the eye but had no flavour and meat wasn’t tender which shocked me for a Thai restaurant. My wife’s plate was 70% batter ( see photo which shows what was left )with hardly any chicken again lacked any flavour. When the owner asked how the food was halfway through and I told him he ignored my comments and didn’t return until time to pay, no apology or attempt to resolve the issue. Needless to say we won’t return. The B C Thai just round the corner has delicious food even if the decor is a little tired. We thought we would try somewhere different but left hungry and dissatisfied.

So firstly, I’m sorry for having to write this but I feel it’s 100% necessary. We opted for the sharing starter, it was oily, no flavour, not cooked properly, presented like a child had put it together - genuinely (and I mean this) worse than 3rd world standards. We also had coloured prawn crackers - tasted stale, oily and unpleasant. For mains : My friends chicken pad Thai was passable - just. For mains I ordered the lamb Massaman (I ordered this when I ordered starters, otherwise I would have left right away but I wanted to give the place a chance) Surprise surprise this was also a shambles, a few new potato’s cut in half -no flavour or care , the lamb was all the off cuts and the sauce was like a soup. Genuinely revolting. Had 2 bites and called it a day. We complained and only paid for drinks, had a bad stomach all evening. (Not surprised) : To the owner - I’d strongly suggest firing your chefs and evaluating how the company is run, how this place has any ratings over 1 star is beyond me but I guess everyone has different standards. Until this place has had some serious alterations done, I wouldn’t Recommend to anyone. On the plus side, the outside of the building is pretty. Again, I’m sorry but this was the worst food I’ve ever had (I eat out 3-4 times a week) Should you wish to contact me, please feel free to do so. Thanks

My experience mirrored the other reviews - the service and place are nice and the starters were good also. However the chicken was really tough and the green curry was watering without a lot of flavour. Close within a minute of Bicester centre but not a restaurant you'd chance upon unless you knew, which is shame as it deserves more footfall. In an old church with a choice few reminders of the history but not as much as perhaps it could have. It does feel authentic Thai in furnishing and the service was attentive and quick. The food was fresh and tasty though portion sizes a little too small for a £10 price tag, especially the veggie noodles. Tom Yum prawns was very good with mushrooms but really lacking more chilli, lemongrass, galangal, and kaffir lime leaves in the mix. At £9.50 that was v expensive when these relatively cheap ingredients would have added to the experience. Spring rolls were superb. We'll be going back as the flavours lived with us for ages after we left. It is authentic, friendly and lots of space and thankfully a cut above some other UK Thai restuarants that feel and taste a little soulless.

AVOID! Quite possibly the worst Thai I’ve ever eaten. The Thai crackers tasted like they’d been fried in old oil and were very greasy. We had prawn tempura which again was greasy - with the prawns having been over cooked and rubbery. We both had Thai curries, the mussaman curry again tasted old - particularly the potatoes… but most shocking of all was the sticky rice we ordered… it was clear this rice was just reheated as it was hard and solid, but worse still it had been cooked in blue freezer bags! I wish we had sent it back because consuming micro plastics is not healthy for anyone - these bags should not be used for cooking and had virtually melted. I asked for chilli as my mussaman curry was inedible and the bill showed that £1 had been added for this. All in all AVOID - save your money and eat at the Acorn pub if you are after greasy food that would actually be more palatable!

They are always grateful, and it makes the experience so nice when the staff see you eat a plate of food they have a huge smile. One of the best dining in experiences I’ve ever had. Not too expensive, and flavourful food. Updated: We have not long got home and we ordered the duck as a takeaway. We have just opened the pots and for £15.90 there’s hardly any. Pros: Convenient parking across the street and beautiful setting. The outdoor seating looks nice and is likely very popular in the summer. Cons: We were snapped at by the staff for not ordering fast enough because the kitchen was closing (which no one had mentioned until that point). We ordered a selection of starters under pressure from the staff and after hearing the microwave ping a few times we were presented by a selection of iceland party food where the only flavouring came from 3 pots of sweet chilli dip. Then it cost £45 for the privilege

Do not be alarmed by the name of the restaurant, the name is whimsical and playful. After a quick Google we found it was a positive message to promote safe sex in the UK and Thailand. We came here on a Saturday night, there was six of us. We were directed to an accessible entrance. The restaurant was busy at this time of night but the wait staff were prompt and polite. The decor is lovely and the atmosphere was very comfortable. The toilets are very clean. I would say that it might have been nice if the table was set before our arrival, but this wasn't a deal-breaker for us and it was probably because they were busy on a Saturday night. We ordered drinks, starters and our mains. I was very impressed with the speed of the items ordered - everything ordered; the drinks, starters, mains, dessert was all served so quickly! The starters were a mixture of veggie and meat options. They were very tasty and everyone enjoyed them. My only comment would be that we found the sweetcorn fritters broke apart very quickly and slightly undercooked in the center, they could do with being deep fried for slightly longer. The mains were incredible. Hands down the best Tom Kha (vegetable) Soup I've had here in the UK! I highly recommend this. The veggie panang was delicious, the tofu was soft and the mushrooms were so flavoursome, every bite of everything had so much flavour. The pad thai was perfect, very tasty. Presented well and good portion sizes. The desserts were delicious too, we ordered all the fruit desserts and shared them. Our favourite was the orange ice cream and the mango. Very refreshing. The items were fairly priced and reasonable. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. Thank you to the chef and the staff at Cabbages and Condoms, we will certainly be visiting again soon!

Jiam served us, we went for a meal with friends. Food and in general the meat quality has gone down. There was a smell in the chicken. Soup (Tom Yum) was just full of thick pieces of chicken and mushrooms, tasted ok but not quite your authentic Tom yum! Than we ordered the sharing platter of starter but we were never told that it will cost us £30+vat for starters!!! Than the prawn panaang came with 6 king prawns with the smallest amount of gravy no vegetables on it or sauce which was £9.50. Egg friend rice - great Jasmine and sticky rice - great Phadthai - great Thai red curry - again smelly chicken in light red sauce-it didn’t feel authentic to me. Krapkrow- basic not hot just served warm. VAT was added than another £12 for service which was shocking and everything was rushed at 8:30pm. Avoid avoid avoid. Never going there again. If a waiter tricks you into ordering starters platter which is clearly priced at £15 and doubles the order to make it £30+vat you know they are struggling, but just be honest and let the customers decide.

They ask for your drinks order and give you a decent amount of time to choose your meal. Whilst you are waiting for your food you can take in the decor and learn about why they have the name they do. The seating arrangements are very comfortably spaced and you are not sitting on top of one another. The food is absolutely perfectly cooked and comes out piping hot. It is not your run of the mill british oriental takeaway or even dine in, it is probably as close to genuine as you will get this side of the world. Nice food, pleasant atmosphere. Vegetarian dish was a bit fishy which is the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars

An early Saturday evening booking for our first, much anticipated, visit. Service was prompt and pleasant and the food and drinks were all great. We chose a set menu hoping it represented fairly what they can do and it went down well. No hesitation to...

Had a take away. Rice was congealed in a zip lock bag in a plastic box. We had to cut rice into pieces. Green curry was very thin and looked awful but actually tasted really nice and chicken was good. Pad Thai looked good but...

If I hadn't been to their Bangkok one I may have enjoyed this one more, food was good, service was OK. The place needs a good clean, it was very dusty, not the actual tables but everything around the restaurant.

Worst thai I've ever eaten. Greasy food. Sticky rice in a sandwich bag that quite frankly I could of bounced off of the walls. Rude staff. Will never EVER go back. Avoid. Go to BC Thai round the corner, much better food and nicer staff.

We were looking for somewhere to eat & didn't know the area, we came upon this place, the name obviously got our attention initially but when we looked at the menu that made our decision easy as it had a separate vegetarian menu so I...

Lovely food and a good selection. My flatbread was nice but could have been hotter in temperature. Maybe I should have paid more attention to the "served warm" on the menu. Sunday night they had a live entertainment too.

A Fantastic Sunday Lunch! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cosy atmosphere that set the tone for a relaxing meal. The roast was exceptional – perfectly cooked meat (I recommend the pork belly), crispy roast potatoes, a generous helping of seasonal vegetables and a rich, flavourful gravy! The pub itself has a charming, welcoming vibe, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more attentive! We’ll definitely be returning!!

Lovely room - a little tired but nice nevertheless. Furnishings were lovely. There was a fridge, hairdryer, body wash, shampoo, hand wash and body lotion. Kettle with plenty of coffee, tea etc. friendly staff. Breakfast a little disappointing - croissants, overnight oats and fruit salad. The bar was lovely and welcoming - a nice ambience. We would stay again. Very close to other bars, restaurants and shops.
