What a setting! A sweet, light and bright cafe with indoor seating, covered courtyard seating and plenty of outdoor seating in amongst the trees. Decent range of quiche, frittata, sausage rolls, pasty’s, soup and amazing cakes. Absolutely delighted that they serve my favourite Origin coffee from Porthleven! Totally dog friendly and people friendly too - everyone that works here are so friendly and smiley. The gardens are absolutely glorious. Peaceful, beautifully tended (without being manicured) ever changing with the seasons - I’ll be back again and again.

Wonderful large gardens to enjoy. Peaceful and quiet. Dogs welcome. Lovely outdoor cafe for coffe and cake. Not sure if they do snacks or light meals. Closed during the winter months, but definitely worth the drive, lots of parking.

Peaceful and tranquil gardens, and looking delightful this spring. All the staff and volunteers most helpful and friendly. There are benches at various locations along the mainly gravel paths, very pleased to see these. There is a charming walled garden close to the house with a small pond with fish. Dog friendly grounds. There is outdoor seating by the café as well as some tables indoors. A range of cakes and drinks available, and an excellent pasty. Garden tickets £10 if you are a Cornish resident - a fair price.

Lovely to see the house as it's not often open to the public. The lady tour guide was very nice but seemed a bit forgetful with some points. We saw 5 rooms, including the hallway. It would have been nice if the kitchens and other rooms were also available to view. Felt a bit restricted for the entrance fee.

It's a spring woodland garden, so if you want to see a variety of plants at other times of year, this might not be for you, I doubt there would be anything much in the past April. My big concern is that it lacks essential signs, and there are no staff around to ask directions. We got lost more than once but were totally lost at Eagle pond and walked much longer than intended trying to backtrack, we weren't the only ones, a group were following us hoping we knew the way back 🤦♀️. There are no maps available but I was told to take a picture of one at the entrance and use that to navigate but it was then too small to be a great deal of use on a phone in full sun and I'd dispute that it was even accurate! I'd need a compass for the sign that said go southwest but it wasn't my first thought on what to bring with me 🙄. The main areas are gravel paths, but further out, the pathways are rough and unsuitable unless you're sure footed. The café is OK but overpriced and lacks choice, no sandwiches on offer at all, but you can get sausage rolls (very expensive with soggy bottom pastry), soup, pasties and a few cakes. If you have a dog and just want somewhere to walk, I guess it's OK. Just take a picnic. I personally wouldn't come back as it just isn't interesting enough.

The gardens are worth a visit for the trees alone. The grounds where man has a hand need a lot of attention. The sitting area at the top of the field with a defunct fountain was scruffy and unloved with a beer can stuffed between the seat slats. The walled garden is running wild and needs some tlc. The cafe is worth a visit because of the garden setting and tame birds. Nice cakes for afternoon tea. Lunch choice is limited and not changed since last year. Need to vary that a bit. Also soup option is hit and miss .

Beautiful garden with impressive rhododendrons. I had imagined it to be a little more laid out and, above all, with more flowers. Unfortunately only the hydrangeas bloomed. A few more signposts would be helpful. Overall a nice stopover, but quite expensive at £12.50.

Extremely Disappointed, Visiting the garden was frustrating. I informed the Trewithens Gardens by e-mail about our serious objections/complains regarding the useless side map, the poor marking of the roads, the absence of a paper map or leaflet. I proposed a number of possible resolutions. I received an e-mail informing me they were on holiday, real answer should follow-up. Never heard anything, it wasn't possible to respond their email.

Absolutely stunning! A beautiful walk amongst brightly coloured Rhododendron, Azalea and other fabulous shrubs, bushes and trees. Fantastic place for wildlife, especially birds. I found a sundial in a quiet corner, and a fountain. I sat at a seat to enjoy the lakes and listen to the woodpeckers. There is a lot of seating to be found around the gardens. This is the ideal place for a picnic. The Garden Shed is a perfect stop for a beverage and a ploughman's followed by a cream tea!

Couldn't go into the house. Gardens are pretty but doesn't take long to walk round. There is a concession for disabled where carers go free, however this isn't shown on the website - so don't book tickets in advance! They also don't seem very aware on the rules of assistance dogs. Maybe we just went the wrong time of the year in September. The lovely tea room however serves great cream teas and some delicious homemade soup.

They went to the cafe and waited 10 mins whilst the servers walked past. Ignored by the man and lady making drinks, after 5 mins a young lady acknowledged my sister's and mom and said there is no food available. So went to see the gardens. The family behind also acknowledged it was ridiculous to have no food for a lunch@ 1:30pm friday 15th September. Well done for a rubbish place for lunch. Very well priced garden with a lovely and reasonably priced tearoom. I think it may depend on the time of year as to the plant interest in the garden, but hydrangeas were beautiful, as were the tree ferns. I found some unusual plants to buy. For me, there could have been better signage.

Lovely gardens. Had lunch in the tea room there. My only question is about serving food in takeaway boxes. Surely having food served on reusable good old fashioned crockery is better. Although the takeaway boxes are recyclable they still have to be manufactured, and they are only single use.

After visiting the lovely gardens decided to stop for lunch at the Tea Shed as it is in a pretty setting. Only a few things on lunch menu, quiche, soup, greek salad and ploughmans. We both decided on the ploughmans, with an idea in our head of the usual salad, cheese, bread etc., what was actually served in a box was 2 wedges each of heavy bread, a lump of cheese a pickled onion, small bit of pickle and the smallest slither of apple imaginable, We were somewhat disappointed. The setting is pretty and the birds fly down to the table, but even they didn't want the breadcrumbs. Maybe just stick to tea and cake.

Trewithen is a delightful gem; beautiful gardens, friendly staff and lovely tea rooms. Shame there is no designated area for dogs to be let off lead after walking the countless paths but keeping dog on lead is a small price to pay for the enjoyment of wandering amongst majestic trees and flowering shrubs. Better maps and even a brochure to take with you as we wandered very aimlessly around and went 'off piste' !! No concessions for over 60's !! But was questioned if my partner used a walking stick, wheelchair or I was a carer??!! Would that have been a concession? Considering a large proportion of visitors would be in the concession age range , is that the reason why there are no concessions???

Absolutely fantastic curry. 3 of us visited early Sunday evening. Poppadoms and pickles to start, 3 different main courses, with a sag paneer, 2 rice, and 2 garlic nan breads. All delightful. The curries all tasted different (not always the case), and were all packed with tender chicken, cooked to perfection. Must also mention the nan breads - as good as I've ever eaten. Large portions, the remains of which were taken away. With 1 drink each, the bill came to just over £80 - perhaps not the cheapest, but worth every penny.

Based on my experience today I would say AVOID this pub. We ordered lunch and then waited about 50 mins for 2 sandwiches. They clearly forgot what we ordered. I politely questioned when the food would be coming which was met with significant disdain and rudeness. What a shame as the village is seriously beautiful. I’ll avoid and try the restaurant close by next time.
