Lovely night at The Ship. Staff were so welcoming and helpful. Had walked the coastal path and were exhausted. Nothing was too much trouble and they let us park overnight with our Camper. Great service, delicious pie, pub quiz on so great locals atmosphere.

A wonderful 'local' pub with a great selection of local beers, wine and local Gins. Ate here, the food was really tasty and portion sizes very generous. The atmosphere in the pub with locals, pub staff and fellow visitors to this beautiful village was lovely, relaxed and very friendly. We enjoyed a few pints sat outside the pub enjoying the sunshine and local brew.

My wife and I were camping not too far away in Veryan and had been out all day sightseeing. Our last port of call was Portloe. This place is so pretty and seems so laid-back. We called in at the Ship inn for dinner and a pint of Cornish ale for me and a bottle of Zinfandel rose for my wife. Lorraine behind the bar was 100 per cent a first class hostess and really looked after us both. She got a table sorted out for us and really made us both feel at home. My wife had the scampi and home made chips and I had the steak pie and mash with peas. They were both cooked to perfection and I would like to extend our compliments to the chef. What an amazing pub and such a picteresque village , cannot wait till we return back next year. A massive thanks to all for making this part of our journey extra special.

We eat here for the three nights we stayed in Portloe. Incredible experience at The Ship Inn. Lorraine and the team were very attentive, helpful and the food was really nice,, worth the money. The desserts which are made in house are to die for….. Watch the England game here and even had a reserved table for us right by the screen. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. High restaurant prices and unfortunately worse than any snack bar. The food didn't taste like anything, we're pretty sure it was frozen food. The locals ordered food that wasn't even on the menu. This looked much better. In the end we were very disappointed to have paid so much money for such a bad meal. Any snack or fast food chain would have tasted better. The waitress greeted us in a friendly manner and the atmosphere itself was quite nice.

We saw The Ship advertised on the tourist route, so thought we would pay a visit. The service was good, but had a weirdly creepy experience with one of the locals.. I have low mobility following an incident, so I'm a bit slow sometimes. One of the locals sitting at the bar actually noted the time I was in the loo, then joked with the bar staff about leaving the window open. It's pretty creepy that someone would want to note the time people take in the toilet, and quite childish that a grown man would want to make fun of people like that. I'm sure he would be quite happy to have the pub just for locals and would be happy to chase away tourists. If you're going, be prepared for the local drinkers to make you feel unwelcome.

We were staying in Portloe for the week and regularly used the Ship Inn for drinks and ate here one evening. We were made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed each of our visits. As a St.Austell brewery pub, you get the usual good range of beers, well kept; however, there's also for a small establishment a fair wine choice. We were lucky enough to persuade our hosts to put a pie on the menu for Wednesday night (and this was a proper pie, none of your puff pastry on top of a stew), which was excellent (with generous veg serving). Definitely recommend a visit and a few jars if you're not driving!

After an arduous 5 mile coastal walk, like a mirage in the desert, the Ship Inn came into view and the thought of a nice cold pint of Tribute actually kept me going on the last leg of the walk. The landlord gave us a very warm welcome and we ordered our drinks and duly sat down with our drinks to watch the 6 Nations rugby match. We were suddenly hit by the lovely smell of delicious food from the neighbouring table. Although the pub had stopped serving food, with a look of starvation and desperation on our faces, the landlord took pity on us and kindly agreed to take our order. To summarise taking in the atmosphere, the beer and food. All in all it was a 5 star experience. Ps we cannot wait to return.

On arrival at The Ship Inn we were greeted by a nice lady who served us some drinks at the bar. We then went over to a table to settle down for what we thought was going to be a nice meal. The lady took our order and suggested to my partner that the fish was a good choice as it was huge, so we ordered the fish & chips and I opted for the chilli con carne. We didn’t have to wait long before the food was bought out and this is where the problems started! The fish wasn’t “huge” at all and the chilli portion was tiny. I politely asked for some more chilli and the nice lady’s attitude towards us changed completely at this point. If you can’t take criticism lady then you’re in the wrong job! She asked the chef for some more who apparently said yes he will sort it yet she then said we don’t have any and I could have some chips. The chips were mediocre but the chilli had very little taste to it, you’d be better off spending £1 on a microwave meal which would taste better. I would normally have taken this further and asked to speak with the manager having been completely ripped off for the price of the bland food, our drinks and the poor service but it was the start of our holiday, my family were all tired and we just wanted to leave. We had high hopes for this place but we won’t be returning again.

What a lovely local pub! Nick was a joy behind the bar, very welcoming of holiday makers and a lovely conversationalist. We were staying at a local hotel, where we were disappointed not to be able to get a table either day for evening dinner, however that disappointment meant that we found this lovely friendly pub, who were more than happy to feed us both evenings. Lorraine was friendly, attentive and efficient, its the little things that make the difference, knowing I had been having ice in my wine, she made sure that as she served the next bottle at the table, it came with a glass of ice on the side. Great service Lorraine! (Much better/friendlier service than I got down the road at the posh hotel for breakfast) We had great food at a reasonable price both evenings, I can recommend the fish goujon starter, which was so good I had to have it both evenings! Beer was good, decent wine choices. Food is a highlight, warming typical pub grub but decent quality and lots of it, for example Hunters Chicken, is not a warmed chicken breast disguised under oceans of low grade BBQ sauce and awful cheese, it's is decent chicken with good strong cheddar and not overwhelmed by the sauce. Kids meals like chicken nuggets are not the typical low grade. Fish was good. Went to the Quakertown store Friday, Nov 15th to purchase a new dishwasher. The lady in the department was busy flirting with a male employee. My wife approached the female clerk telling her we have questions. The clerk moved in our direction a few feet and asked what we want to know. My wife asked about colors. By now the clerk was irritatated and hollered back ‘they only come in stainless’. With that, we went to home depot and bought a dishwasher and refrigerator in a slate color…roughly $3000 in appliances. This employee really soured my wife om lowes!

Ordered hot drinks, Pastel de Nata and lemon meringue pie. The lemon had reported missing. The filling was lemon coloured but had no flavour whatsoever. It was disappointing as I particularly love lemon puddings.

Literally had no chicken no fries and no drinks… they had a lot of nothing on the menu so you had what ever they had so maybe it was a bad day but kinda killed the vibe
