Came here for my birthday lunch. The staff at the distillery were so friendly telling us about their products and encouraging us to sample them - I had to buy a bottle of the raspberry shrub which was such a vibrant colour it will make any cocktail or dessert look amazing. The open barn is a lovely space and there is a patio and garden area, unfortunately the weather wasn’t that nice so we didn’t explore. For lunch we shared a cheese puff pastry to start which was freshly cooked and full of cheesy filling. I had a pea tart with a fresh salad and focaccia and my husband had the fish and chips, both looked and tasted amazing. The waitress was friendly and the master distiller/owner was on hand to explain to my husband that the beer wasn’t up to their standard but he offered a glass for free. The waitress also offered me a drink when she found out it was my birthday. We will be back to do the distillery tour and bring friends for lunch.

We live reasonably locally and this was our first visit for a brunch. We arrived on a very quiet Sunday morning with only one other table of two present. We had to wait approximately 40 minutes for our pancakes! I realise they are freshly cooked, but with only one other table being served I don’t know how they would cope if it was busy! The premises are lovely, but off a very busy dual carriageway that you could easily overshoot with lack of signage! I do hope they address these issues as I fear they won’t survive the current cost of living climate.

We should have guessed when we saw cars leaving at 1p.m. on Fathers; Day. Who lets their chef go on holiday on Fathers' Day? We had booked for lunch at 1p.m. The place was mostly empty, and only two tables were eating. The young lady serving us said it was a very limited choice with a long wait and the roast chicken was off the menu. So we left as well, as did another table. Surely someone could have warned those who had booked that all was not well? Better not to open than to disappoint customers.

Interestingcto visit. You can have a tour but we were there for lunch. Lovely setting - bit of an oasis in the countryside. We ate fish and chios - THE best I've ever eaten! Friendly, welcoming staff.

We used to love popping in here when we were in Truro, you would be lucky to get a seat but now it’s take your pick. In a nutshell the place has lost its soul.

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.
