1pm booking for Sunday lunch in the restaurant. Starters arrived after an extremely long wait at 13-40pm. Delicious. Main course was plonked down on the table seconds after the starter plates were removed. Obviously been hanging around in the kitchen as everything was lukewarm. Beef overcooked. Not hot enough to enjoy. As I had complained about the delay for the starters...I didn't feel like complaining again. Left over half of my lunch as it was stone cold before I could finish it. All in all a poor experience as a local person entertaining guests. Somewhat embarrassing. Large party booked on..... maybe this was the problem. Can't say that I would rush back to tregenna in the future. Other places around offering better food and better service.

Lovely setting and friendly staff. We had the Sunday roast. The beef was nice but the roast potatoes were very large and not crispy so it tasted like a baked potato. Had to ask for extra gravy as they give almost none. One of our Yorkshires had collapsed, it was like a flat pancake. And overall meal was not very warm. Also price of drinks expensive.

We were staying on a Travelzoo/winter deal and had £70 dining credit for the restaurant. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. The restaurant is large and airy but doesn’t lend itself to creating atmosphere/ambience, particularly in the dark evenings without the view. The menu is very limited and not super imaginative. I guess burgers and pizzas are necessary to appeal to the cross section of people that stay and therefore eat here. The popcorn prawns were not exciting but my my Brie croquette special was quite good if not particularly exceptional. However, my catch of the day dish was really tasty (pollock) and all they need to do is offer a few more “fresh specials”. My fiancée had cod and chips which was also pretty good. At dinner and breakfast alike, all this restaurant has to do is offer a few more fresh dishes and use some more local produce (breakfast included) and it could be a lot better.

Sunday night supper at Godrevy View Brasserie is how we always start our holiday at Tregenna and it was again really good. Several of our family chose the roast, such generous portions with enormous Yorkshire puddings and numerous vegetables in huge quantities. My fish was also excellent, very tastily served. Three of us indulged in desserts... the sticky toffee puds with clotted cream are superb. The staff are very understanding of family groups (esp as we had a high chair baby with us) and the service is cheerful.

After our long journey we enjoyed supper in the Godrevy View restaurant at Tregenna. It has been revamped in the last couple of years and is now much less "canteeny" that the old Carvery in the Trelawney Room used to be. But the food is very good and reasonably priced. The chef has not lost their touch on creating enormous Yorkshire puddings for the roast for which half our family opted. The sea bass main was generous and very tasty, in fact we didn't have room for dessert which is a shame, the choices looked good

Very underwhelmed, a decidedly average to poor meal for an establishment that advertises quality. We had a family get together on Sunday and all the party chose the Sunday Roast. It was basically warm if not cold, the cauliflower cheese had very obviously been kept in a warm oven for at least an hour as the cheese sauce was set, not even remotely sauce like. The rest of the meal was average and missing what I consider essential trimmings, no crackling for the Roast Pork, soggy Roast Potatoes etc. Also the same thing for the desserts. Sorry, but a true disappointment. I appreciate serving a Roast Dinner over a long period of time isn't easy, but more care is needed if their products are to meet their claims of quality. I didn't say anything at the time so as not to spoil the occasion for the rest of the party.

We both had a roast dinner which was pretty good. The beef in my opinion could of been rarer the cauliflower cheese needed sauce and the roast potatoes needed to be crispier, the rest of the vegetables were all tasty and the gravy was delicious. Good service and friendly staff. Bar and restaurant both seem a bit more like a cafe than a warm and welcoming place where you want to spend time and enjoy your drink and food.

Decent without being spectacular. A pleasant meal with family. The restaurant is in a spectacular location overlooking St Ives Bay. The menu was on the functional side - I chose mussels as a starter, as had my brother, but he forsook his, as we were told there was really only enough for one. To be fair they did offer to do a compromise dish using mussels and prawns, but my brother graciously offered to have the prawn starter instead. I definitely got the better of that arrangement - the mussels were absolutely delicious, and there were plenty of them. The prawns were adequate, but not in the same league as the mussels. Another of the party has soup which was well received. For the main I had the fish of the day, Lemon Sole…served with new potatoes. The fish was fresh, I had three small sole, but I felt they were a tad over. Still, all in all it was pleasant, and with accompanying wine came to just over £50 per head. Would I go there again? Yes, I would, but maybe when it’s a little quieter. The hotel was very busy with guests, as it’s a prime location for weddings.

To be honest although we have stayed at the hotel before, this was our first time we actually used the brasserie. Part of the hotel break was some vouchers for free drinks and cream tea for two. As we originally checked in the receptionist told us although the voucher stated drinks available between 4 and 6 in evening in practice you can take them at anytime. Well we had the cream tea deal in the afternoon, which very nice and duty staff were exemplary so we booked for dinner that night at 7:30.Come the night, we arrived for dinner and presented our drinks voucher and ordered a vodka and tonic plus a pint of guiness. Minutes later the manager approached staying that voucher could only be used between 4 and 6 in evening. I explained what receptionist had previously stated and also said if it was a problem, don't worry about 'free drinks'. Shortly after he returned with 2 drinks that were allegedly cocktails saying the offer was for 2 cocktails or 2 soft drinks, which incidentally wasn't mentioned on voucher. We graciously declined these as it wasn't what we wanted.Anyway, the meal eventually arrived, I had the baked salmon and my wife had the mushroom risotto. We did enjoy the food but unfortunately my wife was literally up all night with a very bad case of stomach upset. If we also take into account the look on the managers face every time he passed our table, well I don't think we will be repeating the brasserie experience. Shame really, as the rest of our stay was great.

Not only that, they tasted and felt cheap, so much so i've had better buying cheap supermarket ones. Once we did get our drinks and food order taken the food came out very quickly. However I had ordered the thai chicken noodles and was brought a lasagna. Not even close to what I had asked for. However they did bring the correct order after I mentioned it. Partner had a chicken caesar salad which was certainly not worth £12.95! The only problem is the prices which since I wrote my last review in Nov 17, have really increased which will make London feel quite at home with, but really are 30%-50% more than the local St Ives restaurants. for example, £18 for a pizza here but its really £12 in town and on a per head basis, this is only worth one stop in the week.

The only one tiny criticism was the music choice, I don’t think guests are quite ready for “White Christmas” but it made us giggle. May be advisable to book on a Sunday as the restaurant was full when we arrived at 8pm. Overall, a very enjoyable meal and we may return tonight as it was so good.

On the first night of our annual holiday we always dine at the hotel & the Brasserie is perfect for this, where it;s possible to choose from the carvery (roast) menu or the regular one. Between our table we chose from both, plenty of options. My sea bass with spinach was delicious, the perfect light bite I wanted. I think the server was new as she was confused by the menu descriptions & several dishes came incomplete, quickly rectified by the maitre d'. other than that, it was a lovely evening

The setting was lovely and the staff attentive. I ordered the fillet steak as a treat and the steak itself was well cooked and very nice. However, for the price I would have hoped for, or expected at least hand cut chips cooked in beef dripping and some veg.

Lovely setting and very nice and good value afternoon tea and croquet. The brassiere itself is quite small and the terrace isn’t huge either but the views are spectacular and the grounds exceptional.

We came for a lovely 2 course lunch and it was all very nice food, the portions were a fab size and one waiter in particular was really happy and lit up everyones faces.

After driving round the grounds to the castle we decided to book a table at the brasserie, wasn’t disappointed, easy to book online and received a confirmation email straight away. Arrived a couple of minutes early but wasn’t a problem, very polite and friendly waiter couldn’t do enough for us. One had special dietary requirements but the waiter spoke with the chef to accommodate this without any problem - gorgeous food and arrived quickly. Good sized portions, didn’t disappoint. For 4 main meals and 4 drinks bill came to around £80, not bad. We were offered water upon arrival for the table and was replaced automatically without asking. Would definitely recommend visiting if you’re in st ives, especially for the astounding views from the grounds!

This food should be the best. With this castle around and the spectacular garden. But no. The food was late on the table and it was below average on taste. The dessert was a disaster! The crumble pie was with jam and a crushed cracker on top. Money out the window!

Considering the information given in the room suggested a dress code...the menu at the restaurant was disappointing. Pizza, burgers, very expensive for what it was. I had the chicken Caesar salad and it was drowning in dressing, my husband had the 10 oz rib eye and got 2 5 oz thin pieces like schnitzel but said it was tasty. Paper napkins and ceramic dishes at a castle was disappointing.

Stayed for two nights in February. Rooms on lower ground floor, no view but very clean and comfortable. Full cooked breakfast each morning and ate in the brasserie each evening. Food was excellent. The hotel grounds are beautiful with a walk through a tropical garden to the sea shore. Highly recommend this hotel.

Called in as our first choice was not brill so checked in and as we waited for our room to be made in to a twin room had some food and to say the food was good would let it down as it was out of this world amazing. Service from all the staff here from the Alex and his lady colleague on reception to the team in the restaurant/lounge bar would recommend this hotel in st Ives

Excellent location shaped like a castle and would be a beautiful venue for a wedding. Short walk to the centre of St Ives but quite steep for people who are not steady on their feet. I am 62 but was fine with it. There is an excellent bus service into st Ives every 20 minutes. Interior was good although the room we and our friends stayed in were a little tired. Would recommend this hotel to everyone. Staff extremely friendly and reception full of information about the area.

WE dined here 50 years ago and the recent experience was a vivid contrast. The meal was OK but the presentation was average and my Indonesian dish was overwhelmed with sauce and was no better that one could run up at home. Good value though, and a varied wine list at reasonable prices. Friendly staff who coped well with a busy place. Not a "destination" restaurant but pleasant enough and not to be avoided.

We stopped for an ice cream while on the search for our car keys which we lost on the beach!! 🤦🏽♀️ The rum and raisin ice cream was AMAZING and no complaints from the kids and hubby with their choices! The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x

Been coming here for many years, it is an absolute joy every time we come for a meal. Today me and my mother came for afternoon tea and everything was delicious and delectable, as it always is. The service is absolutely flawless, all the staff are exceptional and extremely welcoming, especially the manager. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a perfect meal out.

Beautiful building. Amanda the barmaid/waitress was very helpful and friendly. My family had the ham egg and chips, which was outstanding. I had fish and chips, the fish was delicious and fresh. The puddings were sinful and beautifully made.

I will start by saying the restaurant did reduce our bill and throw in a few free extras but we were very surprised by the quality and portioning of the food. At the time the cafe was very quiet but the staff seemed a little bit chaotic. Orders not being put through properly, items missed off and not knowing what beer they had available. A couple of us ordered the chicken burger (£13) and my son had the kids version (£8.50) but his came with chips. I was pretty shocked when we both received exactly the same sized portion. A small bun, 1/2 a small chicken fillet and one piece of lettuce, not exactly worth £13. The staff did even comment that they there was an issue but still felt it was fine to serve and just expect people to pay. The pizzas were but ok but again surprised when we we charged £3 for 2-3 sliced olives as an extra. We've eaten at many other places up and down the coast and based on our experience we would not return.
