First time at the beginning of April we had a brilliant takeaway, Haddock and chips cooked to perfection. Tried again tonight and we were very disappointed, Haddock was we overcooked, so much so that I had to break the ends off before try to eat, chips and peas were fine. 7 minutes to cook fish is my tip for the cook, but we won't be eating from here AGAIN.

Had our first takeaway from the new trawlers fisheries tonight it was very disappointing to say the least, the fish was over cooked, dark brown hard batter and very dry fish inside, even the chips were slightly greasy, not a parch on the previous owners

Went for Friday as its fish and chip day. As sign outside, showed it was their special for the day. The chips and Mushy peas were average, hard to get wrong really. However the fish not so good. The batter was crispy on outside then wet and slimy inside, looked horrible. It also contained the thinnest piece of fish. It cost £10.30 clearly not worth it. However the service and drinks were good. But as we mainly went for food 2* rating for me. Should have been a sign when only a handful of people were in pub.

To the owner of the fairways, you do not deserve your staff. The fairways is MASSIVELY understaffed, the staff are rushing round like something demented, one person trying to do the work of 3. Sunday lunchtime - one bar staff serving drinks and doing orders for lunch. One young girl in the restaurant serving meals , clearing tables and wiping tables and setting them PLUS taking bookings. The chef, cooking meals, filling up the veg containers, serving lunch and carving meat. We have been going for Sunday lunch every week for over 2 years and as staff have left they have not been replaced. Something needs to be done before they start losing custom.

We had such a lovely couple of pints at the Royal Oak just now. Lesley (Landlady) made us feel very welcome and served us delicious pints of Sam Smiths and two pie and mash dinners (I had the steak and ale - so tasty). My Dad is from Ulley (an Ulley-er) and he has lovely memories of the pub in its golden years. It's so nice to see the place under new management and on a new journey. Food was reasonably priced and the atmosphere was great. We will for sure be back - thanks Lesley!
