If there were no stars, that’s exactly what I’d review the Rockingham Arms for. Used to love going for lunch, however on this occasion the service was absolutely appalling. Definitely won’t be back!

I am writing this review as I have had no response to email sent 25th Feb regarding our experience as a booking of 14 people to celebrate a 60th on the 23rd Feb. - Luke warm meals - Food sent back - Missing food items despite a comprehensive food pre- order sent in a couple of weeks prior -Food lacked quality, some looked like a supermarket ready meal - Steak requested medium rare- served very very well done -Some ( not all) staff unattentive, not one member of staff checked on our meals - The room was so cold, a number of guests ate in their coats - staff making jokes at the bar while waiting to pay when the tills were down- very unprofessional It seems the staff and kitchen were unable to cope with the amount of bookings crammed in at the same time. We usually dine here frequently, however it’s a shame now some of my family won’t be returning. If someone could acknowledge my email I would greatly appreciate it Thanks

What a disappointment. I decided to have sirloin since I hadn’t been here for a long time. The steak was very tough even though it came with a sharp steak knife . Unfortunately I still had trouble cutting it. I won’t be back.

Visited here a few times recently and have always really enjoyed the food so decided to try Sunday lunch. The staff were really lovely as always and the atmosphere was great, however the Sunday lunch did let the whole experience down. I did not expect from this establishment to be served frozen roast potatoes and parsnips, also the veg (carrots and broccoli) were boiled and rock hard. Not great really.

What a cracking "dog friendly country pub" with accommodation and friendly staff . It's recently had a great renovation and is in the beautiful village of Wentworth and about a 5 mins walk to Wentworth Woodhouse which is the largest fronted house in Europe. Oh sorry , nearly forgot . It has a HUGE lovely beer garden and their food is yummy . Honestly , if you're thinking of visiting Wentworth Woodhouse from afar you'll not go far wrong staying at the Rockingham arms in the centre of the village and a stones throw ( so to speak ) 5 mins walk from Wentworth Woodhouse . Honestly, just a jewel in the centre of Wentworth 👍

We didn't stay in the rooms, just came in for a late lunch. We first went to the dining area, which we were told was fully booked, however they do serve food in the main pub area. We managed to get seated at a table in the snug which seems to be a highly desired area with people poking their heads in constantly looking for seats. Unlike some Greene King pubs, it didn't look like you could order on the app and there were no table numbers. Ordering at the bar was easy enough and they understood where we were sat. Despite amendments to the order they got everything exactly right. The food was delicious and the portions generous, especially at the lunch deal price. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful. It is a dog friendly pub and there is dog snacks available.

11 of my family celebrated mums 95th Birthday yesterday, what a lovely day! The staff made it become a lovely experience, they couldn’t do enough for us. They were polite & friendly. The room was busy with lots of customers but, they smiled through it all. We brought a cake which they looked after & when the bill was split, they had no issues sorting it. It was a really cold day but it was toasty warm inside. Food wise, hubby had the award winning beef & ale pie with amazing pastry on to & bottom (bottom is always important for him!) I had roast turkey dinner which was lovely. Would recommend Wentworth to visit, my favourite village but, Rockingham Arms was fab for us a family. Thank you all.

We complained and were offered a free drink and desert but even the custard was cold. We eventually just paid for drinks and the waitress (dark brown hair) was very apologetic but not her fault. Attended for Christmas lunch. 3rd year we have been and can say won't be doing it again..Terrible main course, some of the staff clearly didn't want to be there. Meals came out staggered in a party of 9..Turkey was over processed, frozen roast potatoes sprouts not very tasteful......Had yo ask for the coffee no mince pies offered was rushed. We were probably a little late to finish up 5.15 but the main meal was late coming out due to people in the barn being served so not technically our fault....Was asked if we could wrap up as they wanted to get home. Having worked kitchens for many years we never did a Christmas lunch service due to staff working and reflection of food quality combined with cost( have to pay the staff an attractive wage on Christmas day)...Stale cheese, soft crackers no pickle served like last year.. Sorry was terrible and embarrassing to 2 our friends that we had hyped on about it bring nice not this year it wasn't.....Email has been sent no reply as yet.

The cauliflower had mould on it and could be eaten. The burger was grisly and the child didn’t eat it. Any mash potato again looked like it had been microwaved. We spoke to the staff at the time and even though the pies were swapped the replacement was no better. Very disappointed. Prices of drinks were extremely high too, nearly £12 for 2 waters and a J2O. £6 a for Carling we won’t be returning.

Most disappointing meal from a pub I have had in a long while. Expected more as mistakingly thought the venue to have similar standards to the other pubs in the brand chain. Drinks ordered took longer to arrive than going to the bar ourselves. Having waited for ordered drinks to arrive we decided they must have been completely forgotten about, went to the bar and ordered more then brought back to the table. Our ordered drinks arrived about five minutes later. For 2 courses ordered on the third time of asking it took over 2.5 hours for the course to be served. We were at the venue for nearly 3 hours. Yes, they had a large group nearby, but they were still waiting for courses when we left and were seated when our group arrived. The restaurant was 2/3 full at its peak. Can't speak for the pub half or the hotel part of the venue as didn't bother to investigate.

Came here on Xmas Eve with high expectations. There were 7 of us and two dogs. My mum had previously enquired where we were sat as one of our dogs was a big so we would need room. She was shown a spacious table near the bar but on the day, we were put cramped up in an alcove space with no space for an our big dog who kept getting stepped on by staff and customers. When we ordered food, we did it separately but all after each other so no confusion. Mine and my partners meals were missing when they brought food and we had to wait 20 minutes as they’d not even been cooked. We were offered free desserts but didn’t take it as we just wanted to get out. When we did get our food, it was bland and was evident it was rushed and mostly microwave food. Staff had no control over foot traffic either. People were just blocking tables and staff just allowed it. Although we were offered desserts, no actual apology was offered and we just felt like our family night that we’d been looking forward to had been ruined. Have more control over where customers are stood on a day like Xmas Eve. Or don’t offer food on this day as it was terrible.

Horrendous experience. Family Christmas meal booked for 9 people in the restaurant and it was a complete shambles. Missing chairs at our table and having to find these ourselves as no staff available, pre-ordered food not available and having to reorder from standard menu, 30 minute wait for drinks, starters cold, informed that the staff were struggling as there was a wedding on in the other side 🤷🏻‍♂️,main meal still not arrived hour & half later... when it came out it was stone cold and missing food items again. At this point we said we were leaving, a complete disaster. No senior management on the premises we were told, so emailed them a few days later to advise of our experience. Response in 24 hrs from Andy (which was appreciated) and he said he would check with the 'Holding Manager' and get back to me... that was three weeks ago! Despite me emailing again a week ago, still no response. If this is the action of senior management, no wonder the place has gone downhill, with so many poor reviews on Google and Tripadvisor over recent weeks.

Evening meal menu is great and reasonably priced - would recommend. Breakfast is rather pricey for what was available on the day we visited. Continental buffet is £6 but there were only 2 croissants and 6 slices of bread out for toasting. One of our party only had a muffin and a glass of fruit juice so £6 was rather steep. One of the party had a bacon sandwich and a slice of toast which cost £10 as the sarnie was on the cooked breakfast menu - full English was the same price, so again costcm was steep for what they had.

We booked, for a family meal for 23 of us. Because there were so many, I borrowed a menu and did a pre-order. As we arrived one of the staff took drink orders and continued to come throughout the meal. The food was all piping hot and beautiful. The service was first class. A very enjoyable experience.

Didn’t stay here just went to the pub restaurant across the road from the hotel after a walk. Just fabulous everything! These days you just don’t seem to get the quality, care and customer service and still have to pay top whack for it. What a lovely end to our day to have a light lunch here which was a lunch offer of sandwich, side and drink for under a tenner. The wrap was fresh and very tasty and the wine was really nice too. The decor was lush and inviting and staff were attentive and informative about the menus on offer. Lunch deal, senior menu which was subsidised, specials and normal menu. Catering for all. Me and my Mum are veggies, so it was nice to have something interesting and tasty for a change. Would fully recommend and the village where it is, is absolutely stunning. Thank you xx

Drinks were good, however, workmen repairing the roof had the radio on full blast which spoilt the atmosphere a bit.

We visited on a Thursday lunch time and opted for the seniors menu for £9.00 three courses. The food was spot on. Starter was green vegetable Soup with lovely bread and I scampi with salad and garden peas. Hubby had fish and chips. Not large portions but adequate and prepared by Kevin the chief neither of us had a sweet so the meal was £8.00. only an extra pound for a sweet and the sweets did look good. We sat in the newly refurbished restaurant with all waiter service and such nice friendly staff. This area is really nicely decorated and is such a nice relaxing atmosphere there is no doubt we shall be back with friends next time.

We visited The Rockingham Arms for the first time since its refurb and we were not disappointed. Firstly the new decor looks fantastic! Really tasteful throughout and gives the place a new lease of life. We were welcomed and taken to our table without delay, given menus and the bubbly girl was helpful when taking our drinks order. The food was good - I had beef and ale pie with chips, the pie was so good, flavoursome and full of beef and oozing with gravy. The accompanying gravy was also delicious and rich. My partner had the signature burger and said it was one of the best pub burgers he’d had. We weren’t planning to have desserts but I was too tempted by the specials and chose the Victoria Sponge cheesecake with Eton Mess, my partner had chocolate fondant. Both very enjoyable and rounded off a lovely meal. Overall a tasty meal, great efficient service and in a beautiful setting. Thank you!

Group of six friends ate this evening (30.05.24). Only ONE of our group enjoyed our meal. That was myself who chose the risotto which I would mark a good 8 out of 10. Everyone else thought their food choice was quite poor… one of our party had dry battered fish and described it as cr*p, but sadly didn’t complain at the time and ate the evidence! Lovely room down the steps from the main bar and the prices are competitive… sadly quality is poor, not least the frozen fries and chips. No table check, which is unusual these days. We won’t be returning… try the Bay Horse in the next village, (Scholes)… they definitely know how to cook fresh food and ALWAYS do a table check.

My Husband commented tonight about your poor customer service, you stated on our review that as he had paid cash already, that he couldn’t claim any BlueLightCard discount back … you clearly didn’t listen to us this evening, we never asked for any blue light refund. We said as we’d not used the blue light card, that we wanted to claim a voucher that your head office had sent me for my birthday for 2 free desserts!!!!! As I hadn’t realised your rule to order at the same time you declined. We have eaten in your bar twice in the last five days. The lack of customers on both visits this week speaks volumes really compared to when the previous manager had it, also never had to wait as long as we had to this evening. We’ve been customers with the Rock for years but now completely put off.

Sunday lunch for 6 …. lovely meal in a lovely garden. Shame about the very unhelpful waitress; we asked for napkins as there weren’t any at the cutlery stand, she said she would refill at the stand but wouldn’t bring them to the table even though she was bringing our meals to us!

This little gem is not to be missed. It's a great atmosphere, with young people who are learning their trade in hospitality. Great food overseen by a professional chef and front of house lead by manager John. Always a pleasure and we have never been disappointed. Give it a try, I'm certain you will enjoy the experience.

We have frequented the George and Dragon for many years. The food is freshly cooked to order so yes there is a slight delay in service. But it is worth the wait can't rave enough about the Steak & Ale pie I travel miles just for this. But they are many dishes to choose from. If I had one criticism and o know this is a village country pub. Could do with a lickof paint. Staff always pleasant and welcoming. Well done team

Went for Friday as its fish and chip day. As sign outside, showed it was their special for the day. The chips and Mushy peas were average, hard to get wrong really. However the fish not so good. The batter was crispy on outside then wet and slimy inside, looked horrible. It also contained the thinnest piece of fish. It cost £10.30 clearly not worth it. However the service and drinks were good. But as we mainly went for food 2* rating for me. Should have been a sign when only a handful of people were in pub.
