Had our last breakfast here on the last day before they closed for good. Food amazing as usual. Very sad day. This restaurant has been a landmark for 50 years & yet no one still knows what the future holds for this building. There is nothing like it round here & nowhere for Premier Inn guest to eat. So short sighted of Whitbread to close such a busy iconic business. The staff are devastated. BIG MISTAKE WHITBREAD!! THIS WAS NOT AN UNDER PERFORMING SITE!! Gutted

Another superb meal & great service. Cannot believe this place is closing we have been coming here for the past 48 years. It is so short sighted of Whitbread to close such a successful, popular establishment there is nothing like it in the area. We feel so bad for the staff. Where will the Premier Inn guest eat? The Travellers Rest has been a landmark for 50 years but money ALWAYS comes before people!! Gutted

We stayed at the Premier Inn Ross on Wye with the family for the weekend, four adults and two children, Sat/Sun 25/26 May. Had a great evening meal on Saturday at the Beefeater, went out exploring on Sunday, and came back at midday to a notice saying the Beefeater was closed on Sunday ! We specially planned this place because we can eat with the young ones, and easily get them to bed afterwards. We were given a list of other local eateries by the receptionist, we phoned every one on the list, none would take a booking! Regrettably, this is not the first time Beefeater has let us down, 3 years ago in Marlborough the restaurant was closed all weekend without notice, and last year the Kidlington one decided to suddenly close and couldn't be bothered to advise us when we had booked just for the restaurant and left a phone number! Reliability does not seem to be strong with Beefeater!

The food was great, Bethan our waitress was helpful, polite and efficient. A lovely restaurant. We will definitely visit again. Thank you

A great stop over on the way back from Cardiff. Reserved a table via Google before we set off. Restaurant was very busy. Great atmosphere, food and service. Thanks Bethan. Cheap fuel at Morrisons in Ross only 2 mins away.

We met on Friday 29th of March at this location for a birthday lunch, as it's half way between ourselves and family living in Wales. Our waitress was extremely pleasant and was working very hard. The main courses were fine and my burger was very tasty despite being a little cold. However, when my cheesecake arrived I had one mouthful which again was very tasty, but as I went for a second spoonful I noticed a hair in my pudding. I went to pick it off but as I pulled, it kept growing as it was coming out of the center of my slice of cake. At the point the thick black hair got to around a foot long I stopped pulling! Our waitress was out of sight so I took the pudding and it's follicle companion to the bar, where I was met by what I believe to be the manager. I showed him the pudding with hair still protruding and explained the situation to manager, who made a big deal about having to now remove the cheesecake off the menu until an investigation with there suppliers was undertaken (however I suspect it was back on the menu the moment we left). Almost to the point that I felt guilty, that I had somehow deprived others of the enjoyment of cheesecake? I was given a cursory apology and and asked if I would like a replacement pudding, so I opted for a sundae. I appreciate that the hair clearly made its way into the cheesecake at some point during the manufacturing process and that it's not the fault of the restaurant. What a think would have been a reasonable response however, would have been to at least offer my pudding to be gratis instead of being charged £6.99 for an ice cream I didn't particularly want, nor enjoy. Additionally, my mother, whose birthday we were celebrating, also ordered the cheesecake. The comment that was made to her when my replacement sundae was brought over by the manager was "I take it, your cheesecake is OK"? A question that left her feeling that she couldn't complain. She left half of her slice, having been put off by watching me pull a never-ending hair from mine! Really poor customer service! We have used this restaurant several times, due to the convenience of its location, but will consider our options in future. Mistakes happen, it's how you deal with them that counts!

Just been to Ross on Wye Beeteater for breakfast. We only live a stones throw away but never done breakfast there before. Absolute first class. From the moment you arrive until you leave. All staff give excellent customer service and the food is plentiful and superb. Excellent value for money. Was a little disappointed that the Blue Light Card isn’t accepted for breakfasts. Must have missed that in the small print. A must for repeat visits.

Unlimited breakfast is very basic. No orange juice, just tropical juice drink. We asked about orange juice and were told they have none, not even behind the bar! No black pudding one morning. Food was mostly just warm. Lunch menu very poor with a lot of fried foods and not many light/healthier options. Evening meal food was poor but uncooked burger was dealt with in the correct manner. We wouldn’t choose Beefeater again as the menu and food quality was disappointing.

We have been calling in for a dinner as we are passing through on a friday evening. Glad we found the place and the staff are always very friendly, food is nicely cooked and tasty( love their steak and ale pie) Probably pays to book as so busy but we have always been found a table and will be sad when we don't need to travel that way anymore

We had breakfast here on 4 mornings whilst staying in the premier inn next door. Service and food was great on all of the days. Many thanks to Bethan and the two managers who were also working throughout the week.

This place has become a new favourite for me to stop at during my weekends trips to Birmingham from South Wales. They offer 25% Bluelight card discount so that's another bonus. The food in Beefeater can be hit and miss but this branch has consistently been hot, well presented, and delicious. Special mention to Megan who was very king and attentive.

Decent breakfast but no bacon and no dec caf hot drinks. The whole place needs a good scrub. Booking advised as very busy.

We were not impressed with the general cleanliness of the place the professionalism of the staff or the quality of the food our starter came lukewarm and our main course arrived before we'd finished our starter again only lukewarm not hot as a wheelchair user I found it very difficult to negotiate this place including entering and exiting definitely will not be going here again

We stopped on our way home, to have a meal as we had been on holiday and it was a long drive. Bethan was very attractive and we ordered a 3 Course Meal each. The food was piping hot and well cooked and presented. with a large Coke came to £20.00 per head! Excellent vulue!

Staying at premier inn for a family birthday/get together Charlie our server was fabulous friendly and helpful Shout out to Ben who cooked our steaks to perfection and the lasagne was lovely too

Never disappoints,went today for Xmas meal with a friend had the Turkey roast and everything was very nice,wasn't going to have a dessert but the choices were too tempting and all for less than £20. All the staff are nice and always attentive and it's never any bother if you want to make a slight adjustment to the menu.Will be going back

A lovely family get together. I have never seen it so busy. Some of us had festive menu & some the regular. The food was well presented, hot & tasty. We expected a wait as it was so busy but not at all, a massive well done to the kitchen t team keep up the good work we’ll be back soon.

Ordered the cheese fondue as a starter and was displeased with what I had received, you’d expect a nice runny cheese to dip your bread in but received the opposite. The cheese had solidified and the bread was under toasted and very little effort had been made to make the dish look appealing. Ordered their festive menu chicken burger for mains and was also underwhelmed by this too, the bun wasn’t toasted and the chicken patty was tasteless. There was an extremely small amount of cheese in the burger. On the other hand, the staff were attentive and the restaurant was clean and the ambience was good. Typical chain restaurant visit.

Popped in after a long day shopping. Welcome was warm and waiting staff very attentive, even with a large table next to us to look after. Food was delicious, far better than we were expecting when we stopped by and for the price we paid. Well done!

Awful customer service, booked Christmas dinner on 16/10 via website, clicked on 4pm slot received email confirmation. We work over the Christmas period so 4pm was perfect for my family😊 popped into to pay deposit today etc, to be confronted by a very angry on the edge manager called Craig whom abruptly told 4pm slots not available, no explanation, his words “ you expect my staff stay on to serve you” no however these are times advertised online, I have booking confirmation. He was very rude telling me it’s an error on the system, I asked why I hadn’t been called earlier to let me know ( I’d received no phone/email) he processed to ban me from the beefeater and to get back to my dogs, seriously! ( I had been out on a Sunday walk with my dog) hadn’t done anything wrong other than question reservation, beware don’t book online for Christmas Day as apparently last sitting is 3pm. Craig your customer service is appalling!

Brilliant family meal. It was VERY busy not a spare table so glad we booked. Our waitress Emily was excellent as were all other staff. The food was flying out so a big well done to the kitchen team. Our food was hot & very well presented. We would highly recommend this Beefeater. We’ll done all & thank you we’ll be back soon. Ps please put jacket potatoes back on the menu 🙏🏻

Very good, friendly, service. Seated quickly although restaurant was busy. Waitress checked if I was ready to order at about the right time and when it came time to order dessert didn't rush me - needed time to let first 2 courses digest a little! Foid was tasty and good value deals available. (I started with 2 course dinner then added dessert for £2.00 extra.) I further benefitted from a dinner & breakfast deal booked with the adjacent Premier Inn hotel. I've stated and eaten there before and the convenience and value for money of the Beefeater restaurant was a major factor in making it my go-to hotel when visiting the area.

This is our second visit.We use this venue on route from Wales to Birmingham. We would highly recommend the steak,but the Sunday lunch is great as well.The staff are all great and its got a nice relaxed feel to the pub.

New menu .We use this restaurant often and always have a good meal .But unfortunately the food was terrible.My burger hardly had any thing in it .To fill my plate up they had put lots of chips .won’t be goi g again for sometime

Staff were friendly and polite, however tables were sticky, chairs were wobbly, I swapped them twice, food arrived and was different to menu, things were missing, no gravy with the pie, chef didn't even have some bisto to whip up, starter and pudding were not very tasty, wont be returning sorry

Had food at this beefeater a number of times and found the staff to be really helpful and always willing to help with anything. Most of the time food came out as ordered and was tasty. A couple of times things came out not quite as advertised on the menu. Think if they have to change some items then we should have been told when we ordered but we didn't complain as it was only little things. We liked sitting out in the garden and having quiet drink there as it was nice and peaceful. We did notice some bits that needed doing up including the toilets which were in a bit of a mess after busy food sittings where they probably didn't have the staff to clean them quick enough and there were sometimes queues to get to use them.

Food was good quality, Mixed grill was spot on, staff were friendly and attentive at all times. Inside was nice and bright, can’t go wrong.

Absolutely disgusted at the car parking fine handed out to some members of our group. They were 15 mins over the apparently allotted time. 7 of us had lunch, then stayed on for puddings then coffee. All money for the restaurant and then to receive a fine! The company didn’t want to know when we contacted them and just said it wasn’t their car park!! They will not get any of our business again!
