excellent pub serving good food and proper beer.... The pub is in a great spot in Wapping and also is right next to the river. The outside is very handy for viewing that river if you are sitting at the end.

The Town of Ramsgate is a cosy community pub. I had the pleasure of visiting upon the invitation of some friends for the Monday night quiz. The quiz (8pm til around 10pm) was well-run, featured a host of regulars (so I’m told) and there were pens and desk lamps provided, as well as the added bonus of freshly made chips during the interval, which was a nice touch. In terms of food , although I did not partake, it looked to be solid pub grub in decent portions. Drinks wise there were a variety of ales with an emphasis on cask (eg. Young’s, Doom bar, Harvey’s). For those wanting a clear head during the quiz, there were some decent bottled non alcoholic options (eg. Ghost Ship 0.5%, Birra Moretti 0%, Becks blue etc) but unfortunately none on draught. Hoping to return during daylight to check out the historic pub garden, which I’m told looks out onto the river.

Recent visit and had the chicken and leek pie. A bit of a wait but told as it was fresh cooked. Definitely worth the wait, great pie, piping hot and hearty. Great pub away from some of the more touristy pubs!

A lovely pub on the Thames. Helpful, friendly staff who were happy for a group of 7, of all ages, to eat, drink and be totally merry.

Really nice cosy little pub. Staff really nice, especially the Italian barman/landlord, who seems to be having a great time and is a bit of a character. Food was ok, nothing special, but very generous portions. Considering where you are it's very reasonably priced. Loved the little old dumbwaiter elevator that sends the food down from the kitchens.

I said “well good pie” my friend said “exemplenary pie” but was rude to me when I asked how do you spell that word and he said I shouldn’t use the word if I can’t spell it. My other friend said “banging idea to add ceasar salad to the steak.”

Really love the food here so much so that I will be coming in person to the pub at some point to taste other things and view the sites. London is my ancestral home and I’m just eating my grandfather‘s favourite meal and he was from East End of London, his family settled in 1920 on Cavill Street. Thank you for making my last night in London great by providing a nice hot English dinner before I head back to Manchester. Thank you.

I love this pub, having so many happy memories here. I'm not a local or a regular (not as regular as I would like or as local) but I still meet nice people and have a great time.

It is one of our local pubs in which we have never had the chance to be served properly 😅 still has a good view, but there are other better options in the area...

The food was mediocre, and tepid. Also, I could find nothing on the Website about it being Cashless, which really annoyed me. Had I known, I'd have chosen somewhere else. There is a small sign above the Bar. I shall not be going again, booked a Table at the Captain Kidde for next Sunday.

Cashless, which my friend didn't like, but a perfectly good boozer with a carvery, plenty of food on your plate, good quality and well cooked. Staff were polite, efficient and friendly. I had a very pleasant lunch there.

Proper east end pub - great location on the Thames

Best food I have had in London! Bruno and his staff are welcoming, friendly, and very attentive They make sure your experience is a great one. The chicken and leek pie was amazing and served with yummy roasted veggies! Pro tip - get a side of curry to dip your chips - you won't be disappointed. The Town of Ramsgate Pub is a must visit. It has a long history, so don't forget to look out on the river to see if you might glimpse the ghost of a pirate.

I’ve been to this pub several times over the last year and the atmosphere and vibe is always great. An afternoon or evening in the garden where the view of the river is lovely. Lots of food options and great snacks as well. There’s a fabulous selection of wine and quiz night on Mondays is a lot of fun! Friendly staff even when is busy.

Lovely old pub amongst the oldest where you can find great food and both indoor and outdoor seating.. Reasonable prices and friendly service..

I’ve been to this pub many times. The atmosphere and vibe is always great. It’s nice on a sunny day to sit out in the garden on the river and watch the boats go by. Inside is cozy and staff are friendly. The pepperoni pizza is always a good paired with a few beers! There’s a nice selection of snacks and if wine is your choice of drink they have a great selection of higher end wines if you are looking for something more then the usual house choice!

Nice pub for a late afternoon drink. Small but good. Plenty of History e.g. Hanging Judge Jeffries if that doesn't show hugely here. Really liked the small beer garden facing onto the water; great feature. Had recently eaten, so can't comment on the food.

Dropped by for some food when we found out that Wednesday Night is Pie Night. Although only a choice of 3 pastry treats, the deal is a good one. Pie, with a pint thrown in. When the pie arrived, it was proper, yep: shortcrust on the bottom, puff on the top. We left happy, pied up and will defo return. Huzzah for pie!

On a recent stroll around Wapping my wife and I popped into the Town of Ramsgate for drinks and it was lovely. We bagged a spot on the terrace at the back of the pub, which is a great spot to enjoy a pint of Orchard Thieves Cider in the sunshine. On our way back we called in again and sat inside and it was great. Really nice staff, great drinks and a lovely interior. We highly recommend the Town of Ramsgate, its a great pub.

Very kind bar staff and a lovely pub! I spilled my mate’s drink and they helped me a) clean it up and b) replaced it free of charge. I will be back!

This 16th century pub is a real delight. It is in a great location overlooking the river and has a beer garden with great views. Being a hot day I sat inside and ordered a reasonably priced Amstel (£6). They have 4 cask beers and a good selection of spirits. The bar service was excellent. The interior is long and narrow and has plenty of seating. They do serve food. I only had time for one beer but will definitely be returning.

Little gem of a pub on the river at Wapping. Next to Wapping Old Stairs where Captain Bligh first inspected The Bounty. Good food and a wide choice of Ales & Cask Beers

Located in a good location near to Wapping tube station which offered a wide selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. They do have Beer garden, but it is small and views of the Thames is limited depending on where you can find a seat. I didn't order any food, so I could not give a rating for this.

We sat there for over an hour after ordering food and didn’t get any food because the chef was on break. This place is a joke. Wouldn’t recommend

Visited twice now wish it was our local great atmosphere good beer view of river thames Sunday carvery looked amazing will definitely come back to sample . Dave from bar very friendly as were the other staff. If visiting the area I strongly recommend a visit .!!!

Bar staff terrible. No acknowledgment when leaving. Had to say thank you twice before I got a lacklustre response. Also the only pub I’ve ever been in where no smoking allowed in the “garden “

An old London pub that backs onto the Thames! What more do you need. What a lovely, friendly place, and although I didn't eat there, the food being served looked outstanding. I shall return.

I am writing to express my disappointment with the recent experience my family and I had at the Ramsgate Pub in Wapping. Yesterday, we walked into the pub with our child and my parents, hoping to enjoy a meal of fish and chips. As longtime residents of Wapping, we have dined at Ramsgate on many occasions and have always enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere. However, we were shocked to be asked to leave because, apparently, the pub's policy has changed, and children are no longer allowed inside. We were told they could sit in the garden, which was not a feasible option. This change is incredibly frustrating and disappointing. This pub has long been a place where families, including grandparents and children, have gathered for many years. It is disheartening to see such a family-friendly establishment change its rules so drastically. There is no government law that prohibits children from having lunch in a pub with their family, and I am appalled by the current owner's decision. Wapping families, be aware that your children are no longer welcome inside Ramsgate Pub. This is not the local pub we have known and loved for generations.

Nice views by the river. Drinks expensive.

It is a beautiful place with excellent service, but the food could be better. The buffet Sunday Roast is a nice concept; however, everything is a bit tasteless, even the gravy and other sauces. The fish and chips also do not have much flavour 🥺.

Ordered a salmon, goats cheese and beetroot salad. After a half an hour wait, salad came without the goats cheese and beetroot. Salmon was not freshly cooked and appeared dry and hard. Pricey at £16.90.

I had been to the other pubs along this stretch before but not this one. So I took a chance in booking for a lunch party of seven. So glad I did as we had a great time. We all really enjoyed our meals, in particular the steak and kidney pudding and the fish and chips. Super friendly staff and great jovial service from Bruno

It was the first time we've tried fish and chips and we loved it. The food was all very good, the place is super cozy and the service has been very pleasant. I highly recommend it

We stopped in last weekend for afternoon lunch. The pubs atmosphere and service was great. However the food was the worst I’ve had ever. I have never complained about food before but we both had to send it back. The beef burger patty was rock hard, overcooked and clearly frozen. Even the bun was stale and falling apart. And my partner’s fish was watery and also clearly frozen and undercooked. Such a shame as we were having a lovely time in the pub and the service was great. We got a free drink in return which was nice of them.

On the Thames Path (North Bank) and an easy walk from The Tower, this is an exceptional pub. It's an old, long and narrow building with a nice open air area on the Thames bankside. The staff are excellent (quick, pleasant and friendly), the draught real ale we tried (Harvey's Bitter) was lovely. Our food was served in generous portions and was well cooked and presented. We left well satisfied and determined to revisit when next in London.

OMG. Such a lovely pub. So well decorated for Christmas. The staff were amazing and very attentive. Unfortunately, the ' traditional British Cheese Board ' wasn't very traditional. Brie and cheddar!!! No pickles. Or chutney.. Sort it out, please. It's my favourite. XXX

Really nice place to go. Service was good and food tasty. Really liked the front of the menu stating that to avoid food waste if you'd like a large portion please order one as a no cost option. This has got to be one of the best pubs in London. It's certainly one of the best I've ever visited, and unquestionably the best decorated. From the cheery staff to the convivial atmosphere, this is a shining jewel in the already impressive crowd of Wapping pubs. I would travel a long way to come again.

For the 1st time in a very long time, I think that I’ve been rejected for being either french or black or both ! The manager told us that the kitchen was closed… whilst serving food on table when we walked back in front of the venue 15’ later … so hence why this low rating … by the way it was on a Sunday at approx 8pm

Il proprietario, o uno dei soci, ha un carattere un po’ eccentrico, ma questo aggiunge solo al fascino del luogo. Il cibo è un punto forte del Town of Ramsgate: il tortino di carne è semplicemente favoloso, con una ricchezza di sapore che soddisfa il palato più esigente. Le salsicce offerte sono altrettanto impressionanti, con una qualità e un gusto che non ho trovato in nessun altro pub. Amazing pub. We were on a 4 day trip to London last week, and were staying in Wapping. We stumbled upon the Town of Ramsgate, hoping it would be a "traditional" British pub, and we were not disappointed. The pub is in a quiet part of London and is easily accessible via the tube. Inside the pub was decorated beautifully for Christmas. The bartenders were wonderful and welcoming, which made this to be the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a late-night supper. We had such a great experience that we ended up coming here for dinner all 3 nights that we stayed in Wapping. The food was delicious and the beer selection on tap was good as well. We would recommended the steak & ale pie, fish and chips, and the Irish stew. Prices were very reasonable. Overall, our experience at the Town of Ramsgate was fantastic and we hope to one day return again. We strongly recommend going out of your way if in London to experience this pub. This was one of the highlights of our trip.
