Town Crier in Coventry

I closed my eyes and I thought the Blavk Crowes were in front of me...

Good gammon steak, but the pie is just stew with a puff pastry topping. Fish and chips is highly recommend

One of Coventrys historic pubs, I’m old enough to remember it being built in 1990. Set of edge the city centre this place was my go to in the early 90’s for “pre drinks” before heading to the nightclubs of the time. It was my place…. It’s still my place now 31 years later, a place that’s has evolved with the times yet held its image and style holds credit to the owners over the time. You can come here on a Friday and Saturday night and experience live bands etc ac Sunday for a classic roast dinner to midweek where local clubs will meet up. This pub has withstood the decline in the great British pub and withstood it well. The food here is amazing amd Tac the chef deserves full credit as do all the bar staff in there. All in all there’s a few British heritages that we must protect David Attenborough is one, and I truly believe the Town Crier of Coventry is another.

Meaning to come here for years and last week stepped inside, with 2 others. Bit quiet, as it was shortly after opening time. By the time we left, most tables were occupied. Ordered drinks and food. Service with a smile. Food was delicious and enough choice for vegetarians as well. 5 bean chilli is good, steak and Guinness pie is a must and can't go wrong with a burger. Will definitely pop in again.

A gem in the centre of Coventry. Staff were very nice. The pub is nice and the drinks are nice, I liked the atmosphere, an actually nice pub.

Estaba en un pub con unos amigos y pensé que podríamos venir a escuchar música y me alegro de haberlo hecho. Terminamos quedándonos más tiempo de lo planeado y disfrutamos de la increíble música que había en el pub. Ryan era absolutamente genial y nos manejó a todos muy muy bien. Todo el personal es genial y la gama de bebidas es increíble. He oído grandes cosas sobre la comida (que es casera btw) y no puedo esperar a volver a probarlo. Gracias Town Crier por una gran noche!

Vine con un grupo de amigos para su noche de micrófono abierto que me recomendaron y honestamente me alegro de haber ido. El talento allí es increíble y el personal es increíble. Ryan es encantador y servicial y me ayudó a encontrar una bebida que era adecuada para mi presupuesto como soy un estudiante, pero también tan agradable de tomar mientras disfrutaba de música increíble. ¡¿Volverá DEFO la semana que viene?

Pub advertised “Watch 6 Nations Rugby Here!” on bunting. So, we met up only to find the staff saying they had decided not to show it. 3 other customers queried but the game was not being turned on! Caution advised. Beer was ok.

I went there with a friend a couple weeks ago, loved the Hawaiian Burger and the service by Sam was very friendly and welcoming. would recommend.

Absolutely fantastic little pub! We had some lovely food (compliments to the chef tacc) and experienced great service from the bar staff. The manager Kyla recommended that my group stayed for the evenings entertainment which certainly did not disappoint! We will be back soon!

Lovely pub with a great friendly atmosphere. A real gem in the city would recommend great food and a large selection of beers.

Always come here and enjoy it every time. Mostly visit on a Thursday when open mic is on and it’s the best place to see local artists perform

Have been here many times but this time came on a Monday and found out they have a free quiz on. Enjoyed it very much.

Food is above expectation and a good price. The staff are friendly and always have a smile. The people are what you would expect to find in a local city centre pub.

From the moment you walk in, you notice the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The decor is just like being in a countryside pub. The food was really tasty and served hot.

Having not been here for years I was excited to bring two friends here and start the night with a couple of drinks. The manager, a woman with dreadlocks, took one look at us and refused service and wouldn't say why. We hadn't even had a drink yet and are all in our 30s and 40s on a rare evening out without our young children! No idea why we were deemed unsuitable, and of course they have every right to refuse whomever they want to, but it was very embarrassing and I won't come again to be made to feel that way.

Excelente comida, la tarta de la casa era preciosa, mi madre lo disfrutó y el mini pescado con patatas fritas y el bistec y la tarta Guinness también era realmente encantador Excelente personal que nos atendió Tina. muy amable.

A warm relaxing place to get lunch and drinks. Pay at the bar, but the service was prompt and friendly .Good value for money.

Couldnt eat there with my family because my son who is 19 only had a french id... and my daughter who is 17 and was not expected to drink would have had to leave at 8pm...

I ordered a serloin steak with chips and peas and it was honestly amazing, and I ordered two cocktails which coast me £10, what a bargain!! And the staff are so lovely and friendly, I definitely recommend this place to anyone of any age :)

Visitado para una comida. Tenía pescado y patatas fritas con guisantes de jardín. No me decepcionó. La comida estaba caliente. Rebozado crujiente, pescado en escamas de buena calidad y deliciosas patatas fritas además de guisantes de jardín. Elegí la porción pequeña que era lo suficientemente grande para mí y a pesar de un esfuerzo valiente, no pude terminar.

Always a good night at the Town Crier. Great atmosphere and good ales. Rooters a good band and a pleasure to hear and see 😊😊.

It was a little busy when we arrived bit a table became available very quickly. Drinks are very reasonably priced. Food quality and price very good. Definitely recommend The Town Crier 👍👍

Friendly staff, cosy environment, carpets - so none of the loud echoes you get in many pubs now - excellent beer, excellent food and amazing value for money. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here, and would happily recommend.

Its been a while since I visited the pub on a Saturday. What a great night with a live band playing which happens every Saturday. Looking at their posters they do different activities throughout the week and they have a full food menu running as well. Worth a visit.

Town crier is such a warm and friendly atmosphere, it's the perfect place to catch h up with a friend or a large party, the staff are friendly, the drinks are reasonably priced and the booths are so lovely and cosy you don't want to leave.

Lovely steak, perfectly cooked. Partner had the fajita chicken budda bowl which was brilliantly presented and super tasty. Nice pint of tetleys and a lovely cab sav with my steak 😍

We ate at the Town Crier on Tuesday night for the first time, what a great experience, the staff were lovely, the food was mouth watering & offered fantastic value. We will be definitely visiting again.

The food is all home made and never disappoints, atmosphere is pleasant and they have some decent bands on Saturday nights.

Walk in look on the left you’ll hear cruella du ville and benny hill using threatening vile disgusting language and behaviour. Utterly shocking. In what pub is this allowed. Vile behaviour vile language. When asked locals over other side. Ah it’s they’re regulars they spend a lot of money. They’ve upset a few. Weird that the instigators stay and normal paying customers can’t go in there. “ management “ none existent. Complain to bar staff …. Who them go and sit with the same group. Surprise surprise. One rule for one. Give this pub a miss. From Coventry and whoever the manager is allows this behaviour. Won’t use the pub again

Walked to Coventry via the Canal from Nuneaton. Lovely to stop and enjoy a meal and pints in the pub.

The chef's pie excellent, like the other plats of my family. The service and the ambient was exceptional.

Staff was amazing really friendly and going above and beyond fab atmosphere would highly recommend to anyone looking for great time.

Ryan and Toyah have done a great job supporting the long term manager, Kyla, in providing a friendly, welcoming atmosphere - especially on a Thursday night for Open Mic Night - great selection of singers!

Grest food grest service and fantastic booze

Staff was very friendly and helpful. I don't think the kitchen can deal with a group of order as my chicken burger was a bit burnt on some edges and my dad was not happy with fish. Not sure on the other members of the group on there food. But pub was clean and tidy friendly

Lovely place with a lovely staff, great decoration, great meals with big quantities and low prices. I can only recommend. Be aware that if you come for fish, you might want to be here early because it seems to be a victim of it’s popularity.

Just left this pub. Barmaid very rude .berated the barman for not asking us to move away from bar even though no one was there . If they were busy I could understand but two 70+ Are not doing any harm .shame this is happening. NEVER have I been told not to stand at bar in practically empty pubs. .Will definitely NOT return

Went in to day on father's Day service average atmosphere nice food was bland cold no beef when you walk in you should smell nice food cooking been there loads of times on a Sunday must have a different chef I took my partner in in a wheelchair she was not happy as well I heard other people complaining

Terrible experience. Food was mediocre, drinks were expensive. Won't be coming back here.

Chicken frahuta was dry without sauce. Chicken was tough. Not a good choice

Had such a lovely time here and was looked after by all the staff on duty tonight and Toyah was such a lovely lady and nothing was to much trouble for her when I needed a helping hand. What a fabulous experience and we look forward to going there again. Thank you so much Toyah and staff xx

Surprisingly cosy atmosphere for a purpose built pub. Decent selection of cask ales, and the food seems to be popular. Caters for a wide rang of drinkers and non-drinkers, which is always great to see. Good to see it busy early on a Saturday; it is clearly a popular place and based on my visit, that appears to be warranted.

Loud Beet Tetleys absolutely rubbish

We went to order food and told 40 min wait. There was no steak so had to rethink. Not a prob at this point. We then went back up and ordered. Paid and were then advised that anybody under 17 had to be out by 8. Time was 19:20. We were told that we could stay after that whilst eating but miraculously we had our starter and mains on the table within 15 mins. The food was good but we were rushed and that killed the atmosphere or enjoyment of being at the Town Crier for a meal. Also in the rush to get the onions rings out the bowl they served them in filled up with oil making them inedible. Shame as could have been a good experience.

Just had scampi with salad. It was everything I wanted it to be! Thankyou chef and catering staff. They revised my order to my liking and the glass of Sauvignon complimented. Perfect lunch!

We met up with a good friend who is over from, Canada on a short break. My partner & I had a good time with the company. I will certainly use the place again with my partner. I know of the place, but it was the first time I had used myself for a meal/drink and it is a good place to be able to unwind with a good pleasant atmosphere.💬🤔😄👍

Slightly odd situation as we were out to mark a family event and had booked a space whilst we were sitting waiting for food to arrive reserved cards were put on the tables for other groups. We were told the first table was needed at 6 it was 5 and food had just been served.

Had a sit down meal with the family. Food was enjoyed all round and the chef was accommodating for a fussy child. Always find the crier has a great atmosphere and feel comfortable bringing my children here.

We came in and they had no more Sunday lunch then they told us that they had another pub and we went there for Sunday lunch but it was not very good. The price that we pay was very good in this pub but not in the other pub it was a lot expensive for what you get on your plate

Had a few days in Coventry 27 - 30 Dec and called in for a drink with a friend and decided to get a meal , food was amazing , fish and chips and gammon , great quality and decent portions . Will definitely be calling back in when next visiting Coventy . Great staff and lovely atmosphere.

The best public house in Coventry City centre hand's down the live music is cheerful and uplifting gets my pennies out of my pockets anytime Well deserved!!!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Our dinners were delicious, hot and very filling. Me and the family will be back for sure. Hopefully with room for a dessert!
