I have been here a number of times now. Part of the church/café is dog friendly. The staff are always friendly and polite. Nice coffee but sometimes not hot enough. The salmon bagel is delicious.

Stumbled on this place by accident - very glad we did. Only had a light lunch but great value and plenty of space inside. Well worth a visit.

Lovely friendly, cosy cafe .Outside seating when staffing allows. The food is outstanding in this place. The ploughmans is one of the best i have had and uses local welsh products, including Brecon bread, welsh onion marmalade and chutney ,welsh cheeses and ham.

Set inside the church, this is a little jem. You can eat outside in good weather or inside if you prefer. Nice coffee, great cakes plus salads and that sort of thing. Well worth a visit.

We called in on Tuesday 1st June for family lunch. Absolutely a must visit. They allow dogs inside along one area which was great as it was a warm day. We were a family of 10 and there was plenty of space for us all. Obviously a beautiful, lovely quiet setting. Gluten free was fab. All the meals were superb. Highly recommend a visit here. Thank you to the wonderful staff. We will always call again. Diolch.

The coffee is excellent, the food is very nice - enough choice for vegetarians, the brocoli and Stilton soup was lovely. The atmosphere is very nice and the building is warm. I would have given 5 stars if the staff had been more friendly. Not one of them managed a smile and they only said what was absolutely necessary. They weren't rushed off their feet so I don't understand why they were like that. I had a better experience in Aldi!

I was just one of a number of Tenby Male Choir who visited here to give a mid-day recital. I did not have any chance to view the church nor sample the cafe produce. However, while we were there there was a number of folks coming and going, so obviously a popular venue. If I am in Brecon again I will certainly call in again to sample the cafe produce and look round the church

A good selection of light meals & delicious cakes. Service generally good but at times a bit slow to cope with large numbers. However the atmosphere is such that it's conducive to relaxing patiently.

A lovely space and reasonably priced tea & cafe - but nothing special, so more about the space really. There is a play area/space within the table and chair area of the cafe & disabled loo with baby changing facilities.

Visited Brecon for the first time in years. Wanted a place to eat that basically wasn't a pub or café with people outside smoking. Even though my fiancée does smoke. Saw the poster outside the church and was intrigued. Went in and the serenity hit you immediately. The set up was well thought out, with couches at one end for general coffee and cake, eating area next and then the area for people with small children, high chairs and play area. The staff were a bit stuck up to start off with, but I can understand their position when they are meeting strangers. We had soft drinks and a ploughman's salad, one with cheese, one with ham. The results were very good, though not to keen on having crisps in it. All told the meal was lovely and for Brecon the price was right. Definitely have recommended this café to my friends who want to be able to talk over lunch without the usual noise of a café. Very clean as well. Well done to the staff.

Although inside the church, it was very warm and well furnished, which was reflected by the amount of customers they attract. The coffee and home made cakes were to a high standard. The stained glass window is a must to see - don't miss it.

Volveremos.

It is very pleasant to sit outside in the sunshine. The people are chatty and helpful. An unusual cafe as you order in the church. No doubt the funds from this help maintain the church which has to be good.

In the church of St Marys in the centre of Brecon there is a gem of a cafe that's open most days. We went during the Brecon Jazz festival, and not only did they have concerts there in the church, but they had outdoor seating in the gardens to watch the street entertainers and sample their delicious cakes. They have free Wifi too. The staff are all very friendly and very helpful. The church is wonderful to look at the stained glass and treasures too. I'm told that the view from the tower is excellent, but it's not open very often to the public.

Been to the town of Brecon many times and not really noticed this venue. It is actually in the Church of St Mary in the centre of town. Service was good. It was really unusual to be sitting inside a nice Church having lunch. Very welcoming space with welcoming staff. Small play area for children which is ideal for young families. Ate a bacon, Brie and cranberry brown bread roll which was absolutely delicious - I would say well above average. I will be using this venue on my next visit as the cakes etc looked good and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Stopped here for a quick cuppa on a coach trip. Plenty of room and a lovely atmosphere. Also had a biscuit which was very nice. Not sure if it was home made, but it tasted as if it could have been. Nice choice of other cakes too such as Victoria Sponge and Welshcakes. Bit pricey though. Counter service rather than waitress service - would have preferred a waitress service. Toilets available which were clean and well kept. Would visit again.

We were visiting Brecon and couldn't find anywhere we really liked the look of for a decent light lunch. Then we found this, it's a cafe in a church. Not adjoining a church, actually IN a functioning church. Had a very good salad each, tea, coffee, yummy cakes. This is really good, if slightly expensive for what it is, but the revenue is going towards the roof restoration appeal. Do go and eat here. It's very popular too.

Lovely traditional church with a twist. The cakes are home made and the service is so welcoming. We would recommend to friends and families. It's nice to see a church full with character and cheerful people. Definitely another place to visit in Brecon. It's nice to enjoy beverages while reading the history surrounding us.

A nice setting... plenty of tables and a good choice of cakes.... The kitchen is very small and this seems to inhibit the preparation and cooking of quality lunch time food... all a little disappointing... best to stick with coffee and cake as that is good.. a bowl of soup is also OK but best not to get more adventurous than that.

This little cafe is run by very friendly, often elderly ladies (volonteers, I assume). The coffee and paninis are excellent, the atmosphere in St. Mary's church is very special. If you are lucky there will be an exhibition of local artists in the church.

Sited inside this historical church and occupying one of the naves the Tower Cafe definitely shows the enterprising side of religion. Because of its location its obviously quite atmospheric, but quiet it ain't (unless you visit it when empty). The high ceilings are made to amplify sound, so the already commented 'play area' occupied by some screechy children may make this venue somewhat less conducive to a tranquil break. The food is your basic fare of ciabattas and paninis, with some salads and soups. There is nothing radically wrong with that, nor is there anything to write home about it, but the service is terribly slow. When we arrived several tables had mountains of dirty crockery piled up on them (eventually and slowly cleared), the short queue to order food took an inordinate amount time and almost 15 minutes elapsed since the food order and the deliver to our table. Putting a few leaves on a plate and heating up a panini takes a couple of minutes, so this is obviously due to either severe staff shortages or inadequate management, or both. Anyway, there isn't an awful lot of choice in Brecon... so you may be better off bringing your own sandwiches!

I visited the Tower Cafe for lunch with 2 work colleagues. I had the Steak and Stilton Panini and a pot of Tea. Lovely setting in the church with a variety of different tables available. The panini arrived with a lovely salad and crisps on the side. It was excellent. Can't fault the service and it was a lovely place to eat so much so we ordered another pot of tea and some lovely scones with jam and clotted cream.

This café is in a church, with a few tables outside on the grass by the war memorial. My smoked chicken salad was tasty, but more side-salad than main course size, with only a few very small slices of smoked chicken. The pot of tea wasn't very generous either. With larger portion sizes it would have merited a higher rating.

Definitely not the fine dining experience promised! Very disappointed, mediocre food with overcooked vegetables. Knew we were going to be disappointed when offered cheese savouries (think 1970’s party food) as an appetiser! Salt and pepper squid - lacking either salt or pepper but with the addition of soggy parsnip crisps and grapes. The waiting staff were pleasant!

Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.

Great place to stay. A friend and I cycled to the area and stayed here overnight. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. The room is a generous size with all the facilities you would want, and you have access to an outside deck area with lounge chairs and table which is ideal on a sunny day. The breakfast was also lovely. The location was great as it’s a 5 min walk from 2 good pubs and a post office/shop
