I had a great time, the staff were friendly and the food and drinks were served promptly. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.

The greatest bar known to man, some say the quiz host has never fumbled the bag. Absolute 10/10. I needed 100 characters.

The pub quiz is always good fun, super social spot, cheap for students. Always hosting events and good food

This place is great it is very warm and friendly the food is bang on would recommend the thursday quiz.

Extremely disappointed. Me and some fellow friends returned back to our old stomping ground only to find tower bar had a poor panini choice (no bbq chicken paninis ) (no paninis at all) Get your act together. 1 star.

Waited over 40 mins for a simple drink, service is slow , don’t bother go to spoons. Staff didn’t even apologise

Waited 30 minutes for first drinks. Food came out before. Then 40 minutes for the seconds drinks. Went up to the bar to complain and got a half arsed apology from a member of staff Won’t be coming back Food portions are terrible for the price

Avoid. Food is overpriced, poor quality and portion size is ridiculously small. Server called Jonathan was very rude, poor attitude towards our glee at food being delivered. Said he was offended at our whoops which were for the food not him...then called a table of of girls "guys". Get a grip. Great venue though.

Came here to get a couple of drinks and a meal before a comedy show. Staff were extremely friendly, pricing was really good and the food was great. Service was quick, it was busy due to the football but that didn't slow the staff down. Food was a reasonable time, and I wasn't waiting for a drink for long at all. Highly reccomend.

Terrible food, no flavour, waste of money! The pizza fries were the worst, how does a place even mess up fries?

Horrendous service, waited over an hour for a beer whilst the table adjacent had three rounds in the same period! Then stopped taking orders because they were busy, wouldn’t even let us order a water in 28 degree heat.

Slowest services I’ve ever had. Waiting over an hour for chips. Overpriced as well considering it’s for students. If there is a delay with food at least let people know.

Terrible bar considering this is part of the Uni it was very expensive for food and drink. Took over 45 minutes for my son to get served then on his second trip to the bar they ID him so he lost his place walking back to get his driving licence waited a further 30 minutes to get served again needles to say we left after that. food was very low quality but restaurant prices.

Advertising early opening to watch the rugby world cup final. Great!! Or it would be if they cared an ounce about their customers. I arrived hoping for a pint and full English whilst I watched the England match but was disappointed to find out that they only served bacon baps off the breakfast menu. Their excuse was that they don't have all the kitchen running yet despite the fact the menu stated all breakfast items are available between 8am and 12pm. Ok then, I'll let that slide at least I can have a nice cold, refreshing pint of Guinness right? Wrong!!! Apparently they also can't serve alcoholic drinks until 10am. What kind of bar, which advertised refreshments being available for the match, don't serve alcoholic drinks until half way through. Well that was it, we all decided we'd have better look going the the local wetherspoons instead. At least I can have a full English and a pint there.

Head:Tower Bar is a modern venue ran by the University Student's Union, staffed predominantly by students.Environment:Building is new and at a comfortable temperature in most areas (excepting the ground-floor raised benches, where smokers and staff will occasionally leave the sliding door open or ajar).Seating is comfortable and varied, with arrangements for groups of up to ~10 people, even without advanced booking (upstairs benches).Decor is passable, nothing mind-blowing. This is a far-cry from an "indie-venue" or the like.Food:I have tried a variety of meals here, and am consistently let down. The rule I've conjured for eating there goes as follows:If it's toasted, fried, or otherwise simple to prepare - the food is OK. This applies to loaded fries, nachos, and similar finger-food.This venue unfortunately struggles to prepare meals any more complex or substantial than a wrap.Pasta and meatballs - poorAny listed burger - poorWraps / fajitas - poorUnder no circumstances should the side salads be eaten here. I had a bean burger, it was alright but took ages, despite it not being that busy. It tasted decent - the only really good thing was the curly fries.

A large group of us went in here for lunch. Very spacious inside with lots of places to sit (both upstairs & down). I was told before that the service had previously been extra slow (50mins + waiting for food) but we asked the staff politely if they could hurry with our food as we were all on lunch break. Luckily within 15 mins the food started coming out. I had mushroom & halloumi burger with chips, and honestly, the food was scraping at average. The chips had a funny taste to them and the burger was just bland... I didn't expect much from the price but I definitely wouldn't rush back here. Also - this is attached to the union so it's full of students!

It's so disappointing that my uni venue has so few vegan/veggie options, especially when compared to other unis. I ordered a veggie burger and it came without a bun (because apparently they contain egg?! although no-one told me this when I ordered) on a bit of soggy salad. Not good for £7!! Please do better Tower Bar!

The staff here are so slow. Waited 20 minutes to be served then when we got served it took them 10/15 mins to make our drinks as they were slow or talking to each other (I don’t mind them talking to each other but they would stop and talk. I’d rather you guys multitask by talking and doing the drinks at the same time) and the bar wasn’t busy at all. There were only about 5 more customers. When we finished our drinks we debated whether to go back up and get another as we didn’t want to wait again just for a drink that could be done in less than 2 mins. There were 3 bartenders, then 2 and then there was only 1 when there were a lot of staff working. I don’t get why there was about 6 staff working but only 1 working on the bar.Maybe you should hire more people or put more staff on the bar.

We went for steak night. This week! The week of the ‘beast from the east’. We were reluctant to cancel as it was the other half’s birthday and we’d booked in advance. They said to us they had chefs/staff in (despite the snow!) and we changed our meal time for earlier as loads of people had cancelled and it would help their staff get home earlier. It was quiet but the service was great and the food brilliant. We were really thankful they were able to keep our booking and had a lovely meal. Didn’t even feel rushed. Plus they do appear to have a lovely gluten free menu (we’re wheat free) and all was delicious! Thanks and will definitely be back in their restaurant!

Terrible terrible terrible will not be eating or ordering food here again. Only ordered a chicken wrap as I had a lunch break. Took nearly an hour for it to arrive!!!! What did you do go and get the chicken from the field and freshly make the wrap? I’m sure I could have made a wrap in under 2 minutes. Complained and the waitress had the attitude that she didn’t care. Eventually food came and had to ask for it to be put into box to takeaway.

Good selection on menu, quick service and tasty food. I had chilli which was a good portion including rice and nachos all for a good price. Good place to eat whilst on university campus as it has a nice busy atmosphere.

We went along to the student union for the Jazz night. Fridays and free. Was very good. Limited choice of beers but was good music

I've been here a few times, during the day and evening and find it suits to many occasions. During the day is pretty relaxed with good reasonably priced food and drinks with sport on tv, if that's what you're into, i peronally don't mind. Evenings has great music and atmosphere and plenty of seating, plus it's right next to Engine Shed! Perfect for some pre-club drinks.

As students of the university we find ourself here a couple of times a week either for some lunch or just to relax with a few drinks. There is always a pleasant atmosphere and we all love it! It's clean, the staff are polite and the food is great!

Food took 45 mins and service at the bar was slow. However, when the food finally arrived, it was pretty good.

I can't wax too lyrical as we called in for a couple of drinks after a tough day. We were recommended the Tower by the receptionist at our hotel. We found the bar pretty full but got a couple of nice armchairs and enjoyed our drinks, the place has a nice relaxed air. I liked the layout, the welcome was good and the beers did the job.

Have eaten at here on 3 occasions in the last couple of months, my daughter is at the University and the bar is in the Student Union building. While the food choice is limited, what it does do is offer good value for money, the most expensive thing on the menu is less than £9.00. Have so far sampled a Salad Nicoise, a"Dirty Burger" which is not to be attempted in a clean shirt and good old Bangers and Mash, all of which were well cooked and very tasty. Will it win a Michelin Star? No. Can it feed a three people with a hearty meal and drinks for under £30.00. Yes it certainly can.
