Was served by Izzy she was so sweet and professional I definitely recommend this place.

Decent pub in a lonely part of Lincoln. Can get very busy and has quite a mix of customers so the experience can vary greatly depending on time of visit but this is typical for places in such a busy area

La comunicación fue insuperable con extras adicionales, pero no hay presión para hacer esto. Tuvimos pleno reinado para decorar el espacio con tan poco o tanto como quisiéramos. Y fuimos capaces de configurar por la mañana y volver por la noche sabiendo que todo era seguro y como lo dejamos. El personal en la noche fue muy acogedor en traer la comida y bebidas pedidas. Recomendaría fácilmente este lugar a cualquiera. Precio, tamaño, espacio, jardín - todo de primera calidad.

Staff couldn't do enough for us and our three dogs. Really welcoming and went well beyond what others would have. Will definitely return.

My friend and I and my dog had a lovely, relaxed lunch here. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was good quality and reasonably priced, the dog options were hearty and gratefully received, the decor and seating were clean and fresh, the facilities were spotless. We'll be back!

I had a great visit to Lion and Snake recently. Georgia made me an excellent coffee. The service was spot on too. Chris was really friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. It’s definitely a place I’d recommend for a relaxed coffee break and good service. I’ll be back for sure!

Fantastic friendly great service

I’ll start by saying that the barman’s efforts are what made my score a 3 as opposed to a 1-star. On arrival I asked if we could start a tab as we were going to have food once we had looked at the menu but this is not possible. The food was fairly quick once we had ordered; my wife had lasagne and I had the beef chilli. On seeing it, I queried if the chilli was in fact a main meal because, at best, it was about 2 tablespoons of chilli, containing 6 kidney beans, very little meat and a very watery sauce. The barman raised this with the kitchen and it transpired that it was a new menu and I should have had 3 sachets of chilli, not 2. When I had almost finished my meal another small portion of chilli was delivered, this time with a few more beans but no more meat and it was just a watery. For the purposes of a balanced review, my wife’s lasagne was good. When collecting our dishes, the barman asked if everything else was okay and I mentioned that it wasn’t the best as the rice was cold, at which point he offered us desserts on the house. Whilst that was appreciated, and the sticky toffee pudding was very good, the main meal was the main event and mine was a failure. I feel sorry for the front of house staff when they are let down by the kitchen and any ‘chef’ who is the slightest bit conscientious would have realised they had not microwaved the correct amount of sachets of chilli once they saw it on the plate. Overall, a disappointing experience but the barman deserves a ‘well done’ for his efforts to resolve the situation.

We managed to get a table for lunch. The menu was a standard pub fai, cheap n cheerful. I have to say the food was very good. I had a chicken kebab, and the meat was juicy and tasty. The chips were even better. I'm gutted my wife forgot my double up order on these. Service was good. Rugby and football both on but not everyone was pretty quiet. All good thank you

On entering the bar I quickly noticed the clean and spacious customer area. There is plenty of well-lit standing room and a long bar area itself for ordering drinks. The female staff member (Georgie/Georgia I may have heard her called) was eloquent, professional and very understanding in helping me to choose a drink. The tables were well-spaced, with sufficient chairs at each one, and all visually clean. I ordered food with a friend and the food took a suitable amount of time to indicate it was cooked to order without taking too long to arrive. The food itself was flavoursome, hot in temperature, and a sufficient sized portion to not leave me feeling unduly hungry or struggling to finish. I ordered the Chicken Korma, my friend had Hunter's Chicken, and neither of us were dissatisfied with our choice. The atmosphere was not unwelcoming, however there was a cold feel to the pub that just lacked giving it a traditional homely feel - I think this would have been remedied by a feature fireplace (even electric/ artificial woodburner) in the dining area just to break up the monotony, however I accept that this is personal opinion.

Nice watering hole to meet with male friends, a man’s bar at night. The pub is friendly but the prices are so high, we won’t be back.

We've eaten here a few times now, and each time the food has been awful. Much worse than any Wetherspoons. Dry chicken. Over salted chips. Hideous garlic bread (hard and no flavour). There is no service. .. You have to use QR code. Then they plonk the food on table. Drinks take ages to come out too.

The st aff were friendly and welcoming. I was served quickly, both food and drinks, and the food was tasty and worth the money

Tenía un pan plano de pollo que era excelente. Mi Sra. tenía pollo cazador que estaba bien. Definitivamente vale la pena una visita.

We booked a table at 7:30pm and when we arrived there was a large function on but this was okay as we did not mined. We whent to the bar was was busy but we was seen to quickly. We was seated at a table quickly and even tho there was a function outside it was still fairly quiet inside. We ordered some drinks through the QR code on the table and these come very quick even through the bar was busy. We also ordered food through the QR code and when we was selecting food you could not request something changing so we asked a member of staff for help and they said they will leave a note in the kitchen. We were also told that the food will be a 45 minute wait what was okay. We ordered the food and this come in about 35 minutes after we ordered. One plate was slightly wrong but they where quick to resolve the issue. The food was woundful. Overall the whole experience was woundful drinks were nice food was lovely and the staff where every helpful.

We attended a private function here as part of the Lincoln Morris Day of Dance and the service was outstanding. The food was amazing and the portion sizes were very generous. Catered for all types of diets including Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten Free. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

I’ve frequented this pub for years and years! But before now i’ve stayed clear because the clientele was a bit rowdy. Since visiting again this summer I was very pleasantly surprised! Excellent staff- especially James who took the time to sort out a problem for me and my visiting family even when the bar was quite full! I didn’t need to worry as the other staff members definitely had it and the pub feels like a well oiled machine now. I’m sure because of this the crowd was well behaved as noone seemed stressed out/ a hard feat on a saturday afternoon! Will recommend again and will visit again when i’m back in my home county. Very happy with the service and that James fellow was definitely standout.

Excellent service at the bar our server who I can only describe as having 3 numbers tattoo on their arm was very professional polite and unflustered although the pub was extremely busy. Then we grabbed a table ordered food form the app one of the kitchen staff came out shortly after ordering informing us on of our starter sharers was not available but would substitute for another at no extra cost. Great service Brilliant staff great food and drinks. 10/10 thank you.

We came along to the steampunk event, and we were looking for something to eat. The lion & snake was so busy due to the event but their service was outstanding. Considering how busy it was we didn’t have a long wait for food & drink. The meal was delicious and staff were fantastic. Well done guys, we will definitely be back the next time we’re in Lincoln

didnt eat but service & atmosphere were really good

6 of us had a meal here today and 4 of us thought the food was below average. I ordered sausages and mash, the sausages were burnt and the mash had a yellowy colour to it. The only redeeming factor is that when complained we got complimentary dessert. I would not recommend coming to this pub for food. I now feel a bit sick after eating food here.

Saturday afternoon food. Was very busy, but food came quickly, and was really good. Can recommend the ultimate southern fried chicken burger.

We had lunch there today and there was a quite a wait on food. Staff were so helpful and kept us updated and did a great job despite the businesses and delay. As a gesture they gave us a few extra chips as well. The two men serving were really good. Thanks for a great lunch.

Stopped for a couple on a Tuesday afternoon. Pleasant sitting outdoors on a sunny day. Big venue indoors too. Bit limited on beers, but Marston's was okay.

The paper menu had things on you couldn't order in the app and vice-versa. Couldn't find full fat coke on the menu. Kids meals doesn't even come with a drink. The staff weren't the happiest or talkative. Wasn't asked if food was ok whilst eating.

Dropped in for lunch. Great Service and the burger was the nicest I've had in a long while. Good selection of beers on tap too.

All the tables outside were full of empty plates and glasses. We cleared our own table. Thought it was strange as it wasn't busy at all. Ordered 4 drinks using the app, took 15mins for them to arrive....it would of been quicker for me to order at the bar. Lots of litter strewn around on the floor. Overall quite disappointing.

Absolutly shocking food and not great service. Took well over an hour for 2 meals and portion chips for our little girl. Good job wife said to wait or I'd have walked out. Not impressed. I saw 3 people ask for refunds. Shocking. We wont be returning if this is how long it takes for 2 meals.

Our first visit to the Lion & Snake in Lincoln. Great atmosphere, we got drinks at the bar, found a table and ordered lunch via the app. A little bit of a wait as it was extremely busy but the food was excellent when it arrived. Will definitely visit again.

Had a great relaxing afternoon today. My wife and I had lunch and some drinks. We had our dog with us too. The guys behind the bar, Jay and Malachi were so helpful and considerate. Our food was great value, and really nice, and very well prepared by Adam. Just can’t fault anything. Thank you 👍

Stopped by on the way to a concert at the castle and had a bottle of Prosecco for £13.49, definitely can’t complain at that price ! Thank you to the the bar lady who told us about the fiz Friday deal , will be coming again next time we are in Lincoln !

Dreadful experience Shared starter (off the starter menu) arrived with mains after huge wait Mains were ok if you like overcooked Burgers Beer was dreadful, swooped for an equally awful pint. Service was slow and pretty poor. Offered a round of drinks but given the experience of the first and second attempt to have a beer we declined. Shocking, not somewhere I’ll rush back too

Ordered drinks and food,the 2 pints were rank🤢 Exchanged for 2 more pints,not a lot better,as real ale drinkers you accept it can be a lottery,but 2 bad pints? Sharing platter and 4 mains ordered,sharing starter arrived with mains(after a good half hr wait) this was cold,sent back. 2 of the mains had the option of chips as extra,neither had the added chips ,1 portion was brought to cover thus,along with the re heated starter,now cooked within an inch of its life. Asked if everything was ok? “No,no it’s not” and explained the issues. Offered 4 free drinks Eat our meals,no plates collected or drinks order taken. We left,never to return,I’d suggest you go elsewhere too. The smugglers up the hill,despite not doing food,has a wide variety of well kept ales 👍🏼

Came to Lincoln for a few days break, out of all the pubs and eateries we visited the Lion and Snake was by far the most beat. Tia behind the bar is a real asset to the team, she was welcoming, friendly and accommodating.

We hired the function room for my wife’s 30th birthday and what excellent service from start to finish. The team were great and getting us booked in, managing multiple dietary requirements for the buffet (vegetarian and coeliac gluten free) and even helped set up the venue on the day with decorations when we were struggling for time before the party started. All night the team were attentive, helping in any way needed and cleaned up and saved all our decorations for collection next day. Being in the heart of the Bailgate is a great location, especially for us to continue the party in town afterwards. The food, drinks and environment was brilliant. Cannot fault in anyway and gave my wife such a special and memorable birthday. Thank you so much to the whole team!

It’s a great place to have lunch or a drink when the weather’s good. It’s right in the middle of the Bailgate so plenty to see and very pretty. Service was good and the food was OK. I wish they would set out separate smoking areas - although I appreciate most smokers would ignore this.

Had a lot of fun, food was good, service was fantastic! Tia was great and was very busy throughout the night! We also took part in the music quiz on Thursday which is a lot of fun. Would recommend if you want some good food and a fun evening!

Tia was an absolute delight and amazing. Came in for drinks and chips and genuinely the best chips I’ve had hat’s off to Adam in the kitchen.

Steak pie was terrible, I don't recommend. Apparently the management & staff changed since my last visit. It was a lot better a few years back :( Service was ok though. Have your pint and leave, that's what I would suggest.

We came for the music quiz and only had drinks. Quiz is very good, all staff helpful and friendly. The only problem is it's very very loud

Wasn’t sure when we first walked in but Malachi gave us a lovely welcome, we decided to stay. We both had steak to eat in the restaurant area, which was cooked nice. We stayed and had a few drinks after and the great hospitality from both the chaps continued. If we ever visited Lincoln again, we wouldn’t hesitate to visit.

Almost a lifetime ago I was a regular at The Lion And Snake but I must confess I hadn't been to the pub for years. Life moves on and all that jazz. Set in the most beautiful part of Lincoln, it's a joy just walking to the pub, past the cathedral and drinking in the history of the city. Went for lunch with my wife and it was very, very nice indeed. The meals were lovely and the server was friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and will be back.

The pub was relatively busy but service was pretty quick, drinks were made up to my specific requirements so no complaints here. Food ordered was a mixed grill and hunters chicken. My husband enjoyed his mixed grill but said the extra peppercorn sauce was too thin. My hunters chicken …. Well I’d forget the rocket, it’s a bit embarrassing to even mention it. The chips were spread flat on the plate, obviously to make it look like the plate was full whilst cutting down on quantity, it didn’t work, there not enough chips. All in all, nice food but don’t scrimp on chips 🤷‍♀️

Came in on a Friday night with a couple of mates, had a few beers and the hotdog. Was fantastic, food came quick, hot and was a nice portion size. It wasn't too pricey and the staff and atmosphere was amazing! 10/10 would recommend, will be back again soon!

The Lion & Snake is a typical English pub located in the historic center of Lincoln. The structure is very nice and well lit, the food served is good and the beers are excellent. During the weekend there is perhaps a little too much confusion due to the matches broadcast on TV, but I think that's the beauty of it. Four of us had dinner with 3 beers, 1 coke, 4 main courses and 3 "baby Guinness", all for around 65 pounds.

Excellent location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Was served quickly. Food arrived fairly promptly even though it was quite busy. Good atmosphere. Clean and tidy. Good children's menu but the main menu was a bit boring and not much choice for vegetarians. Would visit again

We hired out the function house for my mums surprise 60th birthday and it was amazing. The function house is exactly in the pictures and an absolute bargain for the price. The buffet was great and the drinks a reasonable price ! But as always with hospitality it’s the staff that make the experience and Tia went above and beyond and was more than happy to do so no matter how many things we asked for ! Absolutely recommend! Thanks for making my mums birthday so great! And the dog had a great time too 🎂🐶💕

Not one to normally leave bad reviews but the food took over an hour. Would’ve given 1 star but I felt bad for the staff as there was only 2 of them on.
