Tom's Freshly Made Sandwiches in Brighton and Hove

Bloody delicious! Great menu choice and friendly Tom serving you. Highly recommend the vegan tricolore. Good selection of drinks too

This is one of my favourite places for freshly homemade sandwiches in Hove, Tom and his staff are always friendly and make everyone feel welcome and it is clean, tidy and the food is outstanding also it doesn't cost any more to eat in unlike other places that like to over charge extra, My favourite is Tom's clasic New York club sandwich, It costs £5.95 and very filling and worth every penny, If you a local business, passing or want to try somewhere new I highly recommend to everyone in coming to try this place you wont be disappointed.

I often go to Tom’s for my lunch. They make the sandwich in front of you and there’s so many options. My absolute favourite is the posh egg sandwich! Prices are reasonable and the service is always so friendly and personable. Shocked to read the previous comment about Tom only speaking to men, that’s complete rubbish!! Lots of my students also go there and love it. Tom and the other staff are very welcoming and keen to please.

Had several sandwiches here whilst doing jury service in Hove. Didn’t get off to a great start first day when I decided to eat in, dirty table to eat off that hadn’t been wiped between customers, also they only had really doughy white bread left for sandwiches but failed to tell me that they did have granary that could have been toasted, I would have rather have had a toasted granary sandwich than a doughy cold sandwich but wasn’t offered the choice. Another day I had a halloumi sandwich which didn’t have the promised capers in and was a little salty. On the plus side, some nice vegetarian choices and apart from Tom himself, friendly staff, Tom himself seemed to enjoy friendly banter with men but this didn’t seem to extend to women customers for some reason. I think this place is popular because there is a lack of competition in this particular area, the food I had was Ok, but missing out expensive ingredients that you clearly label as being part of the sandwich and lack of communication and cleanliness means I can only give it an average. Also why can’t they slightly warm the butter before hand so they can actually spread it? Instead of chunks of it because they can’t spread it, just an idea.

Very nice place to get your sandwiches and teas etc...fresh food,clean and good value for money and made by nice people !

Tom is a lovely chap nice little sandwich bar with great coffee which he takes care over with great panache and it’s clean good value and right on the main road. Parking bit difficult but worth a quick walk.

Popped in here for a sandwich the other day - went for bacon, very nice, good fresh bread too. The bit I liked best was that the chap, I presume it was Tom, was really nice, and we had a good chat. Will return when I go back to Hove!

Came in here for the first time today I have to say the prices were reasonable and sandwiches were very good on proper fresh thick bread. The staff were very friendly and polite I will return

I have been into Tom's for lunch twice now, and on both occasions have been very happy. They have a great range of fillings, and lovely fresh breads. Added bonus, the customer service is outstanding, and on both occasions Tom has engaged me in polite conversation.

Delicious sandwiches made fresh to order, plenty of choice, nice coffee and service with a smile! Yes, the sandwiches aren't cheap (£3-6 approx), but what you get is quality and quantity. Far, far better than the prepackaged offerings as Tesco. I've visited 4 times this week.

A splendid coffee made to order with nice staff and bijou and a good stop off to then take out for Palmeria Square and a breath of fresh air. Great sarnies too xxx

If your looking for a really nice sandwich in your lunch break, (rather than prepacked supermarket rubbish), try Tom's. Fresh ingredients, great choice of bread and nice coffee. As others have said the Club sandwich is the best!

Great choice of sandwiches and a variety of bread to choose from, great for just sitting in there for a quick coffee whilst you wait for your fresh sandwich.

All the food sold at this friendly sandwich shop is obviously fresh and delicious. But the best...the absolute best...is Tom's Club Sandwich - the one with bacon, although I'm sure the turkey on is good too. It's beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Great sandwich shop near Palmeira Square in Hove. The sandwiches are made on order and you can watch. Can be a bit of a queue at peak times but the wait usually isn't long and is worth it.

Tom's is a great local sandwich shop. I recently visited with my daughter and I had a fantastic bacon and avocado sandwich. What was really excellent was the attention given to my daughter. It's not a big shop but a friendly owner and a babychino make all the difference. Thanks and highly recommend.

I visited here and was really disappointed considering the great reviews. Maybe I was expecting too much. The sandwiches were average and the bread (baguettes) could have been much nicer. They were quite hard and dry. They were really busy so obviously popular. Unfortunately not for me.

The food is simply devine!! Highly, highly recommend Tom's - just fantastic sandwiches and cakes and lovely staff! Get there early on in the day, or it will run out!

Tom really does make the best sandwiches and coffee around Hove. His food is always freshly made and the best quality.

Great sandwich shop, there is always a queue out the door come lunch time and it doesn't take a genius to work out why. The selection is excellent and all done on lovely tasty bread. They will accommodate even the most annoying customer too.

I had to do jury duty recently and the only decent place to find good food cheap was Tom's.during the week i had my lunch there every day and found the sandwiches to be of excellent quality at the right price there is a very good selection of not just sandwiches but bap type and rolls too ,the staff are friendly even during busy times,and will offer to pre make your choice so to save time waiting thanks guys.

My daughter-in-law had popped in to order her sandwich to be ready for pick up when she came out of a class. I queued to buy one for me and one for my son. The long queue was testament to the quality of the food here. Plenty of choice and the staff are friendly and polite while working quickly and professionally to serve the waiting hordes. The choices were presented quickly but clearly: white, wholemeal or wholegrain? butter? salad? avocado? I chose the chicken mayo with crispy bacon and added avocado on wholegrain. It was full of big, perfectly cooked chunks of chicken with lovely crispy bacon for texture. Large portions, a meal in itself. I ate three-quarters for my lunch and had the rest later - it had kept perfectly well in its paper wrapping.Beautifully clean with a few seats if you want to 'eat in'. They don't take credit cards, cash only, which caught me out (as a tourist with little cash on me) .

Whenever I'm in Hove I make a point of visiting Toms sandwich shop. The staff always remember me and have even taken some of my recommendations on board (Taleggio!!). The food is always so fresh and the last egg n tuna sandwich I had was better than my mums. The staff are great and we always have a good chat about fish, life and the universe. Love this place, keep up the good work.

This places does the best sandwiches I've ever had! The halloumi with rocket is amazing but I think the salt beef on granary has to be the winner!Tom, the owner, is always really friendly regardless of how busy it is & makes me feel welcome.I've ordered sandwiches in the past to collect & they're always ready on time & perfect,Reasonably priced, very clean shop too.

I eat here whenever I'm in Brighton as there are always a few different extra things apart from your run of the mill sandwiches for sale. It's nice to find a shop that uses fresh ingredients, lovely homemade cakes and soups and has fab customer service, it's always nice to have a chat with Tom and you can see why his shop is loved by locals.

This is a constructive review, because Tom's is actually very good in a lot of respects. The quality of the food is excellent, but it consistently runs out of many ingredients - potatoes, types of bread, fillings etc - either late morning or lunchtime itself. It's basic business sense to have what you sell available, otherwise people will go elsewhere. Anyone catering for the breakfast / lunchtime trade should not regularly run out of the food it sells at peak times. If I'm offered a portion of disappointment and side order of alternative option each time I go into this cafe, it won't be long before I become a regular at the sandwich shop a few roads along.

I work near Tom's and frequently get lunches for myself as well as for meetings. I've never had anything but excellent, fresh food from this shop, and am always impressed by the enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff, who seem to know many of their customers by name. They are also very helpful and will bring a platter of sandwiches round to the office. You can take away or there are a few tables and stools to eat there.I haven't ticked the box saying this is one of the best meals I've ever had in a restaurant because I'm sure Tom's wouldn't claim to be serving gourmet meals - just the best, most imaginative sandwiches, salads and homemade soup and cakes in Brighton & Hove!

Have now stopped using this establishment nothing to do with cost but to do with lack of service and rudeness of Tom himself .

This is a really friendly cafe. If you are Fter a snack in Hove it is a good option. There is the usual selection of freshly made sandwiches, teas coffees etc.

I don't think sandwich shops really get the accolades they deserve. Many of us use them, some of us quite often. So it is with pleasure I recommend readers to Tom's in Palmeira Square gardens. Tom and his team serve the freshest, tastiest sandwiches going and a formidable range too - once you've tried them you won't anybody else's. Go early to get your choice and to avoid disappointment.
