Last few months I’ve been to tommys it’s been awful. Honestly, those chips yesterday were not great at all. Up your game tommys.

Have been going here most Fridays since covid- by far has been the best chippie in Heywood in my opinion and quality of food consistently excellent However- last 3 times I have been - the portions have gotten smaller ( fish and chips) and the quality of both (fish and chips ) definitely not as good- no idea why this is- but the last 3 meals have been disappointing unfortunately .

Placed an order online through Deliveroo. 30 mins later I was advised they couldn't fulfill my order after initially accepting it.

Ordered a large portion of fish and chips from Tommy's and got it relatively quick. Came out hot and chips were pretty tasty. For today's prices the portion was incredible. Would go again if I was in the area and needing some nourishment.

Love this chippy a traditional English chippy also has a small seating area just at the back were we enjoyed sitting in the service was quick and efficient enjoyed or fresh hot food

We've been going to Tommy's Chippy for a few years and I can tell you it is the best . The fish is the best I've ever had ANYWHERE including top restaurants owned by famous chefs. They do 3 types of curry...English Chinese and can you believe...Irish curry??? We put our telephone order in and its ready for us and no queueing. Staff are lovely friendly and very good at what they do. If you don't go to Tommy's at least once...you don't know what you're missing.

Go to this chippy quite often, and the food is always unbelievable and it’s a very reasonable price! The staff are wonderful and super friendly, can’t recommend Tommy’s enough!!!

We’ve ordered and collected food from Tommy’s quite regularly this year and have never had an issue. Today (Friday 23rd) my partner made an order over the phone and went to collect it. When we arrived home we saw that there was only one lot of fish and chips instead of two. He rang back and mentioned this over the phone, the woman who answered the phone was not apologetic at all and started arguing with my partner saying that she took the order and it was only one lot of fish and chips. She then said that she would make another one for us to collect. When my partner went back to the shop as soon as he walked in the woman showed the receipt to my partner and said “look you haven’t paid for another fish and chips.” He said “I don’t mind paying for it but it was missed off the order and I’ve had to back come and get it.” She then said nothing and still no apology was offered. I was in the room when he made the order. He definitely asked for two lots of fish and chips. I understand that mistakes can happen but find it appalling that this member of staff offered no apology and started arguing over the phone. Then continued to be rude when he went back to the shop. That is not how you handle an issue whether you think that you are right or not. You have now lost a customer.

Visited here yesterday for lunch in the dining room. The place is immaculate with excellent covid measures in place & the staff are very friendly. We was a table of 3 & we ordered 2 pudding chips peas & gravy, a peppered steak pie chips peas & gravy, a tea, coffee, coke & a barn cake all for £20. The food was freshly cooked & delicious, the steak pie was really tasty. A repeat visit is a must!

This is a great chip shop, we always get fish when we come here, always really tasty. The staff are always really nice too. You can eat inside too, but we've never done that before as we don't live too far away so the food is always still hot when we get home to eat.

Dat in Friday tea witj myself husband & 4 year old grandson. Service spot on clean friendly & food delicious. I had fish with curry sauce my hubby had fish & chips & my grandson had sausage & chips in a kids box & got a colouring book & crayons

The chips are really thick now, i prefer them a bit thinner ! fish are Cooked to order and delicious but make your chips a bit thinner they look like roast potatoes, i also tried a pie today and it wasnt crisp pastry, seemed microwaved ? try the irish curry its nice

Called into Tommy's on the 30th Dec lights on but not ment to open for another 15mins so waved & said come in got dad small Fish & chips would recommend lovely

This is by far the best chippy in Heywood my husband usually gets chicken which he loves mine is small fish & sausage for the dog if he behaves himself . A busy chippy so everything is fresh. Dad would be proud of you all !

Called for chippy tea after long week at work. Freshly ordered fish was the best I've tasted. The place was spotless. Always a good sign when the queue is outside the door.There is also a dining area at the rear.Will be popping in more often from now on.Staff were all friendly and engaged well with customers.

Fish cooked fresh, consistently perfect chips , good portion sizes , clean with a small eating area in the back . Only improvement would be friendlier staff and quicker waiting time .

I recommend tommys, food is lovely, fresh and theres a fairly sized sitting area, clean, think staff could be happier

The fish and chips are excellent and greasy. Also the fish are freashly fried when ordered. This chippy has a seated area.

As we all know tradotional English chippy said are a dying bread, well no more, tommys is one of best, superb Fish, chips and great mushy peas with no pea green added. Great service always feasibly cooked,come here guys great place to eat.

Best chippy had in a long time, inside is clean, staff are friendly and the portion sizes are more than enough.

Called in for tea with my family on a Tuesday night and ate in side . Was served by a lovely young lady , very polite and friendly with the kids . Food was lovely and fresh and fish was cooked as asked . Would definitely recommend this chippy , great food , great staff and lovely clean chip shop : )

My mum came to visit and fancied some fish and chips, our local chippy was closed so step forward Tommy's. It's not our usual chippy so we were hoping for some decent chips, we weren't disappointed. And they still do scraps....brilliant!!! The whole family enjoyed the food, and we even had a sausage which was pretty good too. The service was alright, not overly friendly but not rude either.

Shout out your fish order as you join the queue, as it's all cooked to order - and you probably will have to queue as it's a popular 'plaice' (see what I did there?) . Good quality chippy

Tommys is just not the same anymore. I have been coming here for years on and off and now I don't go at all I choose to go bridge chippy nordan. Probably won't go again

Found the service staff stand offish and the food average, so disappointing from years gone by and it's now one of the most expensive chippy's I've been to in ages, including city centre ones. What happened?

Fresh food cooked well. Good size fish which makes a big difference to a great meal. The only disappointment is that it closes early.

Been coming here since erm birth ! The food is cooked to perfection. They stock all the usual items. One of the best features is you order your fish when you walk in with a quick 'shout' of how you would like it served. The staff are very friendly indeed. Best chippy for miles. Prices are spot on too. Best Friday night tea for us.

I'm a mechanic and me and the other lads come here every Friday! It is a little pricy and the girl behind the counter is a little stuck up and gormless but besides that it's decent and I've been going every Friday for 2 years now!

My favourite chippy. As a child I used to go to Tommy's chippy in Middleton and then was happy to find when I moved to Rochdale there was one in Heywood. Best chips I've ever tasted and taste how chip shop chips should taste

By far the best chip shop in heywood, Always freshly cooked fish to order and the quality is superb, good sized portions. Staff are friendly and very happy to banter with their customers! Always busy too which is a good sign for customers.They have a seating area in the back if you prefer to eat in and no compromise on the quality or portion sizes. Would recommend you try for yourselves, you won't be disappointed!

Do i need to say anything? The food is beautiful and the banter is great as well. Fresh and served hot. Definitely a great stop for food after a hard day at work and all you want is to turn on the telly while enjoying a classic tea! Thanks Tommy's!

Im a regular here, the fish are lovely, and they give generous portions, good chippy ! there is a small room at the back of the shop where you can eat in if you want to

Love the fish here the only original Tommy's that's left always serve fresh fish order to sit in or take away seating for 24 ? always full on Friday tea no fancies just good clean tasty cooking pies puddings sausage and fish chips with peas gravy or Curry bread and butter tea coffee or soda

Tommy's, renowned for quality food. Tommy's Heywood won't let you down with the added bonus of fast friendly service. Yes there are queues, but you can only expect this with a popular chippy, but your soon at the front and the food more than makes up for the wait. Enjoy! Ps Highly recommend the English curry!

my favourite chippy, fish is amazing real cod, chips always fresh, there a nice little seating area at the back that's always warm, wish it wasn't so far away, beats the tommy's in Blackley there chips are always soggy.

My first visit to Tommy's was 50 years ago but that was then the original owner had his shop in Middleton. The fish and chips were spot on, especially when I'd been to the baths. Alas the bayhs have now been demolished as is the original Tommy's. The Heywood Tommy's maintains the standard set by the original shop and it's fish and chips are still just 'perfect'. I've been going to Tommy's in Heywood for a long time and as treat I often had a fish take away on Friday tea time as this sets me up for the week-end.

Very good fish and chips in the back "canteen like" dining room which is small but clean, Recently done up (by the arrival of a local competitor), the food is consistently good, not overly expensive and satisfies a need. If only the lady owner would smile more........

You know a chippy's doing something right when you have people queueing out the door. Lovely good quality food at a great price.

Ordered pudding chips and gravy,chip muffin and a fish, 6pm 26/10/15. Chips were soggy and paper was soaked in grease. Fish batter was soggy and inedible and the whole lot went in the bin, what a waste of money. Either this is the best that Heywood has to offer or the cook tonight was new and needs re training !! Not the Tommy's I remember and certainly will not be returning.

What a great lovely traditional Fish & Chips you get served there. Food is very tasty. Reminds me of my childhood as you don't get many places like this which do a good Fish & Chips.

I only started going to Tommy's as our usual chippy was closed for a while. My parents are so fussy about their fish and chips, but I knew I was on to a winner when they polished them off and didn't moan?! Not been back to the other chippy since, Tommy's is now our 'local'. Staff are really friendly and speak to everyone, knowing alot by name as well as remembering their order.

Called in here on the way back from Manchester. As it was raining, we decided to sit down and have our food. The staff were very polite and helpful. The Fish and Chips were very nice and reasonably priced, but the coffee was a little on the weak side. I would have no reservations about calling in again should I be in the area.

Great chippy, can't fault anything about Tommy's and if you want you can sit in the back room and have your food brought straight to you with a mug of tea and bread and butter...a real treat on a Friday night.If you haven't tried Tommy's then you are missing a treat!

We visit regular, eat in or take out. Not a lot of room eating in but worth it just not to have to wash up afterwards. Never had a bad meal or take away. the portions are very good and the service is quick. The staff are always polite when serving. It can be busy on a Friday tea time, both in the eat in and the take away. Would advise any visitor to Heywood to try the fish and chips on offer here.

Best fish and chips in Heywood. Fish battered the way we like it. Special lightly battered on request when you first arrive let them know and you won't be kept waiting when you get to the counter

Great Fish & Chips, reasonable prices. Fish is real not Vietnamese river cobbler or Petang mush frozen in far east etc.

The fish is always fresh the peas are mushed and the chips are always good the best chippy in Heywood the queue on a Friday tea time tells it all continuous flow of customers just how Friday tea used to be

Tommys started out in Middleton many, long moons ago when the original Tommy and his very glamorous wife made the absolute best fish and chips for miles and miles around. The original shops have now gone, and been demolished, and the couple are also long gone, but they started a franchise in their latter days and to this day Tommys are always a sign of quality.Unbeatable, and the Heywood restaurant is of the same high standard.

usually go every friday . chippy teas on a friday should be law. chips are fantastic ,crispy on the outside fluffy in the middle, hollands pies all varietys are sold . the fish sold is the best in the town i hear really thin crispy batter and white flaky fish. The best of all is the gravy absolute taste sensation. makes any meal. go back anyday!!
