It's a nice wee cafe just off the main road. There is decent food with a wide selection and good service. Not the cheapest but good helpings and great cakes.

Stopped off on the way home from Brora for lunch and so glad we did. We had sandwiches but they were lovely, plenty of filling and a nice side salad and crisps. Great food and great service, will definitely be back. They also have a summer house outside that you can sit in if you have dogs plus outdoor tables too.

I’ve been to the Tomich Cafe a few times over the years, living in Inverness it’s only a 30min drive to reach. It’s been a while since my last visit so decided to go for breakfast on Saturday morning. My experiences have always been positive, staff and food wise, and this visit was no exception. Being vegetarian I often find breakfast options limited, not in this case. A generous and piping hot cooked breakfast was had. My mum had a sweet chilli chicken panini which was jam packed with filling. Our coffees were also really delicious. Staff were lovely and friendly and we were not kept waiting for our food very long at all. Would 100% rate Cafe Tomich and it won’t be as long between visits again this time for me.

Our last morning in Scotland so had to have a Scottish brekky…..called in and didn’t disappoint. The staff were lovely and even opened up the summer house especially for us (dogs not allowed inside the cafe but this was a brilliant alternative). The breakfast was fantastic with everything you’d expect on a Scottish brekky (the black pudding was the best we have ever tasted). It’s also extremely good value for money. Excellent way to finish off our holiday.

Don't usually do reviews but feel I really have to this time. Visited yesterday and felt really safe in this environment. Wonderfully friendly welcome and all staff observing the government guidelines, including taking contact details. Have found other places aren't bothering with this!! Had the haddock and chips with peas - cooked to absolute perfection. Lovely thin crispy batter, absolutely 'to die for' chips and fresh peas (not all shrivelled up as in some other places) Also noticed that when other diners had left, not only the chairs and tables were cleaned down but also the floor under each table was also swept thoroughly. Covid19 guidance instructions have been placed on each table and conveniently displayed around the restaurant. Each individual menu has been sanitised and a entrance and exit only system is in place.Would recommend this restaurant to everyone but especially to those of you who are a little worried at eating out at this time.Very well done to all the staff.

We called in at Tomich Cafe because my daughter wanted to try their vegetarian options on the menu. She chose a Panini which, when it arrived, did look somewhat 'disheveled and her comments to me certainly confirmed her disappointment! My wife chose a baked potato with a veggie topping, unfortunately the potato was not fully cooked. Whilst I was fairly happy with my meal choice (non veggie) it is possible cook was having a bad 'veggie' day.!! I will add though, staff were very friendly and the service was very good, also the sweets were pretty special. Just shows you we can't all be 'happy eaters'..... some days are just plain grumpy !!

When I was asked how the food was, I pointed out the pink parts of chicken to be told that they check the temperature of the food with a temperature probe so its ok to eat. Ive always thought that its not safe to eat pink undercooked chicken.........disappointing.

I stopped here with family on the 23rd December 2017. I had not stopped here for many years and I used to a lot several years ago as the standard was so good. I was so disappointed. Why have the scones dropped so much in tase and size? They used to be marvellous particularly with the huge bowls of soup. Not anymore it appears! Service was poor and the restaurant not busy. My son stated to the waiter that the salt dish didn't work. The waiter then tried similar salt dishes on about 8 tables proving none worked but just replaced them where they were!!!! Next customers would have the same problem! My son never did get his salt! Meals were incomplete. Fish and chips was clearly marked on menu as being with lemon. No lemon and it had to be asked for. One course for my son arrived and I had to ask where the other meals were!!! A comedy of errors. I may have been unlucky but I don't think so!!!! As I say so disappointing as this used to be a definable stop whilst travelling on the A9.

First visit since new owners took over and very disappointed. Soup clearly made from a mix not from fresh ingredients, cheese scone had sugar in it(?????) and the selection of cakes gone from hero to zero!!!!

Looks just like another roadside cafe /restaurant from outside but standards inside are well above average both as regards helpfullnes of staff and quality of food including spped of service. Well worth a visit. Obviously from observation a regular haunt of locals and passing traffic indicating a lot of returning patrons

My wife and I regularly run the Alness Parkrun on Saturday mornings and had got heartily sick and tired of having breakfast in a supermarket cafe in the town. Looking for something a bit different, we ventured into Tomich Cafe this morning with a bit of trepidation based on some of the negative reviews in this forum. We needn't have worried; fast friendly service in a clean and welcoming setting. A bacon roll, an egg roll, a cappucino and an Irn Bru were just the ticket. The food was excellent and fresh. I will definitely return.

The service that my family received in this cafe today was awful, the waitress was abrupt and sullen. This was obviously not due to a bad mood as the couple after us got a smile and a laugh.I will never stop here again, though we regularly pass it. Customer Service is not selective all customers should be treated equally.I think the waitress could do with some hospitality training.

This place used to be excellent, really nice tastey food, good service and reasonable prices. Today, however, what we found was far from this description. I ordered a burger with blue cheese on top and fries..... the burger was almost completely tasteless and the grease poured from it, there was far too much blue cheese, although as it was also almost totally tasteless, this want too much of an issue. Even the roll was greasy. The fries were frozen supermarket fries, shame, as Tomich used to serve lovely home made chips. We were stood like fools for five minutes waiting to get served while the staff bumped into each other apparently not knowing what they should be doing. When we were served we put our drinks on our tray at the till and the staff walked away and left us there, so we just went and sat at our table.... the waitress told us out cheque was at the till and we could pay on the way out.... I guess we were supposed to pay before hand. The waitress put her hand on my shoulder.... no, i don't want you to touch me thank you. Poor all round and very over priced. We will not be back and wouldnt recommend anyone to stop there and waste their money.

The food used to be really good here. Recently had fish chips and salad and was anything but good. Chips looked and tasted like they had been reheated, the batter on the fish was tasteless and brittle. So very disappointed. Staff are not even as friendly as they used to be but are all rushing about like mad so possibly overworked and under staffed.

New decor; less choice; more expensive. Poached egg (on a role) was so steeped in vinegar as to be inedible. Seriously disappointed - to say the least!!

An excellent selection of good food and good coffee provided by an enthusiastic and friendly staff in a well-kept and nicely presented premises.I never had the "bacon Brie and cranberry" (sic), but boycotting these good people seems an over-reaction to its removal from the menu.....

We have popped in here a number of times whilst visiting up North... good to see something different on the menu, the place is clean and it's been smartend up and I understand the new owners have plans to develop the site which will be good for the locals and us visitors.. love the Chicken and Stornoway Black Pudding Panini with their own Apple relish... the veggie options and their cakes and pastries... staff always friendly & polite... we love it..

Loved the food in the cafe before the new owners came and took the bacon Brie and cranberry off the menu. Will not be back till it returns.

Très agréable situation entre 2 ballades, service très prévenant. Des plats typiques, abordables. Le top après une journée de tourisme.

After poor experiences in Oban and Fort William this place restored our faith in a Scottish breakfast and hospitality. Great service, even better breakfast made with quality ingredients.

The Fish and Chip Shop is in our experience is without a doubt the BEST IN CAITHNESS AND SUTHERLAND! The fish was white and flakes. fried in beautiful crispy batter and the chips were perfect. We have experienced other Chip Shops in Wick,Thurso and Helmsdale, plus Mobile Chip Vans in Lybsterand Dunbeath and this has been the best so far too. We travelled around 30 miles to eat here and would do so again. THANK YOU.
