Great little pub...been several times

We visited this bar based on the Google reviews and it didn't disappoint. The drinks were amazing. Classy , tasty and full of flavour . The staff were so friendly and welcoming . My only disappointment is we didn't come earlier in the night as I would have spent it all here . Top marks from a seasoned cocktail drinker .

Most talented bar tenders I’ve ever met. Best quality choices of liquor and excellently accurate but uniquely twisted cocktail recipes. An absolute must. Recommend by everyone we’ve met in Newquay, with good reason.

Tom Thumb is an absolute gem of a place - an oasis of calm in Newquay with a cosy, laid back vibe. It has a comprehensive but clearly well thought out list of cocktails. The hosts are friendly and knowledgeable- with a passion for the drinks they create. The negroni was the best I’ve had and like all the drinks were prepared with care, along with an expert description of how and why from the server. The decor and atmosphere ooze cool - clearly designed with the same attention to detail as the drinks. Recommended.

What a treat, if you enjoy quality high class cocktails served by knowledgeable and skilled hosts you are in luck! They have a huge whisky collection with some of the world's finest, plus reasonably priced too, this is the place to refine your pallet, or you could just order a pint.

Any place that has hand lotion in the toilets get a 5* from me, fantastic place.

What a great find! A fantastic, unpretentious cocktail bar, that wouldn't be out of place in any big city. The owner was friendly, knowledgeable and clearly loves what he does! The peach high ball was one of the best drinks I've had for a long time!. The bar is well designed, and has a great aesthetic. Really can't fault it.

Fantastic trendy bar with great drinks! Bar tender was excellent, nothing was too much trouble and really knowledgeable about different drinks. My husband personally loved the extensive choice of different whisky’s on offer to try. Will definitely be visiting again when we return to Newquay.

The best place for amazing cocktails

Overpriced & pretentious experience. The rude, obnoxious vibe would work if you were in Dalston, but we’re in Newquay. I live close by, so have tried it twice and never again. Note to staff/business owners, Newquay is seasonal it’s the locals that will carry you through the tough months. Look around at the failed businesses and learn.

Most obnoxious staff I’ve ever come across. Night 1 consisted of 8 adults being spoken to like children after being strictly forbidden for the group to stretch on any more tables than 2. This created instant tension and put a dampener on the evening. Had it not been for the fact we had paid for a drink each we would have left. Night 2 (and reluctantly to 50% of the group) we decided to give the bar a 2nd chance as quite frankly it was a good cocktail irrespective of the poor customer service. Unfortunately this night was no better (worse in fact), as we didn’t even get the opportunity to order (or in fact speak) and was told straight away by the singular bar worker the place would be closing after making his current drink. The time was 9.27pm and google denotes the place closes at 11.30pm. This is a shame as the place makes a good cocktail and would benefit greatly from staff who actually embrace there customers and want to provide a good service, which is surely imperative to such a business.

This is hands down, THE BEST cocktail bar in Newquay, been coming here for years. Bartenders are brilliant and each and every drink is made to a high standard and with great care. They don't make surgery cocktails that make you feel terrible the next day. Can have a few and still get up for the surf the next morning. :)

This bar could be a contender for the coolest bar in the southwest. Just visit it and chill. Love this place.

I love this bar. Really good vibe to it. It is not a pub. It serves classic cocktails. Order your drink take seat and relax. Staff are great too. Definitely not my usual place but for my annual date night 🤣🤣🤣

An extensive cocktail menu with the classics as well as some less traditional alternatives with interesting flavour combinations. They are proper cocktails as opposed to the sugary ones you get in a lot of the chain bars and so expect to pay upwards of £10. But it's worth it! They come beautifully presented and are delicious. The atmosphere is also a big draw for this place. Fancy wallpaper and chic furnishings. It's quite a small place so get there in good time to get a table!

Cocktails not to our taste. Maybe it was the night we went. Prosecco was substituted for champagne for one if the drinks but in retrospect should have declined especially as it was charged at the same price. Other two were too sweet.

We've always walked past but decided this time as it seemed quiet to go in. The cocktail we had were lovely but extremely expensive. We don't feel that we'd return as they were very pricey

Newquay's true hidden gem. Stunning cocktail bar with a real speakeasy feel to it. The bartenders were really welcoming, highly knowledgeable and made us the most delicious cocktails with high quality ingredients. We wanted a relaxed night out away from the noisy pubs and this was the perfect end to our day. Thank you Tom Thumb team, we'll be back again next time we're here 🙌

Super cool bar with delicious drinks. It was a delight to prop up the bar for some pre-dinner drinks at Tom Thumb this evening. The selection of cocktails was easily the best we’ve seen in Newquay and it was a real treat to try something different. They’ve created such an excellent atmosphere- we particularly loved chatting to the mixologists and watching them at work. A must visit!

A little gem of a bar, something a little different in Newquay. Primarily focused on cocktails, but also serving beer and wine, as well as "drivers" cocktails for those not wanting to drink. Great after dinner spot.

First night out in about 6 months, thought we’d visit quite a few bars in Newquay (we’re not 18 so it wasn’t ever going to be a horrendous drunken crawl thru town!). Tom Thumbs was the second place we went to and we stayed there all night! The upstairs snug area suited our evening and after our first choice of cocktail we then followed the owners advice on what to try. He was spot on and the level of service was impeccable. I feel we got drinks that matched the prices, the varying levels of flavour and the brand of drinks used are what makes this place a level above. We’ll be going back!

Nice twist on some classic decor inside, also has a nice little spot outside that catches the sun in the summer afternoon too! Do recommend to anyone looking for a great cocktail experience!

11 of us on a hen party .. not rowdy at all, it was early evening and we'd just done a cocktail making class and had a lush meal. We were refused entry, not sure why??? Tom Thumb ... you lost yourself a lot of money Saturday night in orders and tips. Despite this we had a great night and took our custom and drinks orders elsewhere.

A really nice and cool cocktail bar. I couldn't get a better service than I had. Even though the pub was busy the guy who served us was really friendly and attentive with a big knowledge in cocktails 🙈 I didn't have a clue what to order and through my tastes the bartender helped me to pick the right cocktail.

One of the nicest places you'll ever have a drink in. They seem to keep numbers down to match the speed of cocktail production - very smart and welcome move. Staff are professional and welcoming, drinks are of course superb (good alcohol free choices too). This sort of atmosphere is what most people really want from a night out.

cocktails are delicious, the staff are super friendly and welcoming, went with my girl friends on a busy evening and he opened the top area us to enjoy which was very kind.

Uniquely decorated little cocktail bar, we stayed for only one drink as the reception from staff was not warm, the drinks are top money for Newquay. My coconut based cocktail was not enjoyable but the espresso martini was ok. £18 for two mediocre drinks personally I won't return but it does tend to get busy so they must excel in some areas.

Had a lovely time in Tom Thumb Newquay. Drinks were absolutely delicious, guys serving us were easy going and knowledgeable, it was obvious they know what they’re doing. Can’t recommend them enough, definitely the best cocktail joint in town!

Really unfortunate! I certainly didn't expect to have to review so low .. However.. I feel so deflated.. A last minute trip and a Google on arrival and I found what presented as a cocktail " speak easy " style bar in aesthetic.. unfortunately on arrival I was met at the door by two very young fresh faced chaps who told me I had to pay by card and sit at a table and order .. it was quite surreal after the impression given on the website and social media. I did explain that I carry cash and even showed the young men , however they replied " boss took the till out with covid , an it makes it easier nah for us and him.. no cashing up " .. I'm very experienced in cocktail dens , speakeasy and jazz clubs which is apparent from my appearance. Nevermind.. come on chaps.. you could be a really strong presence in Newquay! . Disappointing.

Visited Cornwall last week with friends. There were four of us who ended up at Premier Inn in Newquay with no idea where to eat or drink. After an extremely average meal we stumbled across Tom Thumb and waiting patiently at the red rope inside the doorway. We were greeted by a lovely gent who invited us in and showed us to a table upstairs. We were given the menu and from this point the evening got better and better!! The menu was plentiful and surprisingly different to other cocktail bars I've been too. The decor was fab and the atmosphere was fabulous. We all ended up ordering our first drinks and whilst we were waiting I went down to speak to the guys behind the bar about their scotch selection. I believe they are called Jamie and George and both were knowledgeable about everything I asked for and were both a real laugh. The info we were given every time we ordered helped our decision and we were not pushed into a decision or to spend money at any point. The cocktails, decor and staff are all amazing. Every drink we had was brilliant!! If I could go every week I would and if I could move the bar to Nottingham I would do it tomorrow!! We thoroughly enjoyed the night and would visit again......and again!!! 5* to Jamie, George and the team. Keep it up!!!

Didn't have a good experience here, the staff seem pleasant but it feels like unless your a local your a second class citizen, went for the night but decided 1 was enough. We noticed another couple also chose to leave as well whilst we were there; at least we know it's not just us that didn't feel welcome.

Amazing place stopped for a few cocktails and they even tailored to our needs. Really thoughtful staff and they made some cocktails that I have never had. 😄

Friendly staff and a varied selection of cocktails well worth a visit

Tried to pop in today for a quick pint, 2 couples outside, the bar itself was dead, as in no customers at all. I was with my 2 friends ( should probably add in our 40s/50s) Anyway as i had a hawaiian shirt on i was refused entry, the lad who refused me was very nice and explained they have a dress code which i didnt fit, i accept that. The thing is, i was recommended to go there by a very good friend and i thought i'd pop in today before trying to book a few tables tonight. Long and short, my shirt cost me a fiver and a pint and probably cost you a few hundred pounds tonight. No winners today, will i go back? probably not, and my friend is slightly embarrassed. Looked nice though. Many thanks your your speedy reply, I did state to the helpful barman that this was my normal atire. Sitting at different tables would have been fine.(as per covid 19 guidlines) Maybe a one star was harsh, But it was obvious were not a stag do. Have a great summer. GF.

Wow, what a find! You don't see many cocktail bars of this level outside of cities. The team are really warm and professional, the drinks are exceptionally well put together, the list is also very inviting and there's something for every palate. A must visit. Keep doing what you're doing guys 👏

After spending the day in Newquay, we wanted to find a place to settle for a couple of drinks and following the reviews we ended up at Tom Thumb. The place is quite small but we didn't struggle to find a table and the drinks were very good. However, not sure if it was the unfortunate timing or this comes as standard, but the clientele of the place was very off putting. There was quite a bit of shouting by clearly drunk customers which definitely ruined the atmosphere of the place. So much so that we felt like leaving after just one drink. The waitress also seemed very disinterested and after informing us that one of the drinks we wanted wasn't available, seemed very confused and lost when I asked if she could recommend something similar.

Great laid back atmosphere. Perfect for a nice drink after a day exploring Newquay. Everyone was super friendly and helpful and every drink we had was amazing!

Small bar hidden away in Newquay, absolutely teeming with atmosphere and the perfect way for a couple to wind down the evening. The staff are lovely and great at personalising your order or recommending something lovely when you don't know what to order. Wish I could take this place back home with me.

The Tom Thumb bar was a great little find. It’s a very small bar with limited seating but we had no trouble finding a table. The service was very warm and the general atmosphere within the bar felt great. The selection of drinks was excellent. Lots of choices for the alcohol drinker and a good selection for those not drinking alcohol. As per the picture, I had an old fashioned and it was great. I would certainly visit Tom Thumb bar next time I’m in Newquay.
