Hidden amongst a rural estate this place is beautiful. We were met with a handshake and made to feel very welcome. Dinner was fresh, seasonal and fragrant. We returned a few months later and Tim the chef remembered us! We enjoyed the most fantastic coffee and Danish for breakfast ❤️.

Lovely setting and nice staff. The food was excellent but be careful what you order! We had two of the pasta dishes which were lovely but overpriced and poor value for money (essentially it worked out at £3 a mouthful!). It’s a shame because we were really excited to eat here and seeing the pizza and fish that came out for other tables at pretty much the same price point we definitely just chose wrong! We were also the one of the first tables in for the lunch sitting and though I totally understand the small plates style of dining where your food just comes when it’s ready BUT it did feel like ours was rushed through - (we hadn’t finished one before the others arrived and then struggled to find room on the table). Without meaning to at all we were practically in and out the place in half an hour - great service but sometimes when you’re spending £70 on lunch you at least want the experience to last! try and read your tables!

The best restaurant experience I have had to date (Jul-21). A restaurant with a morale compass. Finally. Food as food should be - real, local, flavoursome. Service as service should be - personable, perfected, attentive. Drink as drink should be - paired, quality and at a considered price point. - all guests arrived at once which made for a supper invitational atmosphere. Welcome drink on arrival and introduction from the waitress set the mood and immediately put us in good spirits - tasting menu only (£70) made for a very special evening. Not suited to your casual eat out of course. - talk from the head chef on the dishes to be served and origin of ingredients made this into an experience and showed the nature of the restaurant we sat in - as all food was served to all guests at the same time it made for very slick service and reduced stress of staff which only improved the quality of food and service - wine: excellently paired and at a reasonable price which so often is not the case. - atmosphere: classy whilst relaxed. Lovely background music that didn’t interfere. Decor was modern and stylish.

Such a unique and enjoyable dining experience. Incomparable to any other restaurant. Overblown decorated food tasting menu of top quality but no choice, so you have to roll with the punches of food you don't want or like. Pretentious and expensive drinks. Food is relatively good value for the quality, but not much help if you get food you hate. The sample menus when you book can differ wildly from what you actually get. Beware.

The Trelowarren Estate is a beautiful area in South Cornwall. The Pantry provides delicious coffees, cakes, light lunches, brunch to eat in the courtyard or takeaway if you fancy wandering over to Halliggye Fogou or along the drive. The Restaurant has a fine dining menu, championing local and seasonal produce. Often ingredients are grown or foraged on the estate (watch this space for the opening of the one acre walled garden!). It is great for all ages - even busy toddlers as there is plenty of woodland and grassy areas to explore if they won’t sit at a table...

We have just returned from Cornwall having spent several evenings enjoying The New Yard Restaurant food. Quite simply it is utterly delicious with Jeffrey Robinson's inspired set menu using locally sourced ingredients. I strongly recommend it to anyone who likes their food and is interested in ingredients. We can't wait to return the next time we visit Cornwall. Tucked out of the way on an estate this little gem is really worth a visit. Great for lunch with a mix of small plates or bagels. Great cakes as well (the triple chic brownie). Super cosy inside for cold days and a lovely patio outside for sunny days. Ok. This is going to sound silly but yum yum. Situated in a lovely rustic setting, in an old stable block, of a rural manor house, beautifully and simply converted to provide a contemporary comfortable eating space. Not that many covers so felt quite private. Was still suitably relaxing for Sunday lunch. The service was first class. The food was fabulous. Beautifully cooked and presented and absolutely delicious. Modern European. I would travel a decent distance to go back here again. Prices surprisingly reasonable.

Wonderful locally sourced food, severed by warm, welcoming, friendly staff, for whom nothing is too much trouble. A lovely relaxed dining experience, we never feel rushed. It's not a large restaurant, so you don't feel lost in a crowd. I love the fact that there is no separate children's menu, they can have the same quality food as everyone else, or, with enough warning, it may be possible to go "off menu", so to speak. My 7 year old granddaughter, who I'm proud to say will try anything, loved the pasta and ragu sauce she had that was made especially for her. The menu changes with the seasons and is dependent on what is available locally. Their ethics are impeccable, and they work closely with their suppliers to ensure that all the animals have a truly outdoor, free range, healthy, organic lifestyle. I would always recommend booking ahead, especially on a Sunday. The Mail On Sunday named them as the number 1 restaurant in the Southwest for Sunday Roasts, with very good reason. Meatless options are always available, and if you inform them beforehand of any vegan or special dietary needs, they bend over backwards to ensure your meal is as wonderful as anyone else's. Jeff is genuinely passionate about food, they even churning their own butter! He would never compromise the taste or integrity of the delightful dishes he & his team create. They regularly forage around the estate for seasonal wild ingredients, sometimes offering foraging "classes" where the public can join them to learn how to enjoy Mother Nature's bounty (but never depleting Her resources to the detriment of the wild animals that call Trelowarren their home). Considering the sheer all-round excellence of The NYR, it is exceedingly good value for money. You won't have to break the bank to enjoy fine dining, even with a moderate income. As if the food alone isn't enough of a pleasure, the beauty of the location will take your breath away. The drive, or walk, through the estate, with it's wonderful woodlands which suddenly open out onto wide ranging vista's, builds a delightful sense of anticipation. I love taking family and friends and hearing their exclamations of surprise as we drive through the estate for the first time. Not only is it in a classified area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but the estate is steeped in ancient history. There is a Bronze Age Fogu on the land which the public can explore from Spring to October. It is closed over Winter so bats can use it for hibernation. It's a wonderful adventure for the kids, as they can squeeze through the smaller openings comfortably. Also, if you feel like a gentle stroll after your meal, there are maps available with clearly marked woodland walks. All in all, a lovely place that has something for everyone. Also, with such a local, ethical driven ethos, you can enjoy your meal knowing that the NYR actively supports Cornish farms and fishermen. Helping local communities to grow, ensuring stability for the future.

The food’s OK, and not overpriced. What lets the place down is the noisy staff member ( owner?). I know it’s a greasy spoon, but still, one should be able to eat and hear oneself think in relative peace. I sit outside if possible.
